Me planning my OCs' relationship dynamics: Since none of these plots are romance focused and my favorite ship dynamic is "I love my wife so much have you seen my wife she's perfect and I love her" that will probably be most of the background pairings.

Me actually writing my OCs' relationship dynamics: She's involved in a series of meaningless flings, those two definitely break up sometime in High School but stay friends, this is a political marriage, this is some sort of bizarre domesticity LARP where he's barely home and she's more attracted to the idea of being married than him as a person but they're both fine with it so I guess it's okay, those two feel like they should be having an affair but somehow it's 100% platonic with no romantic or sexual tension, she seduced her cousin's wife as some sort of weird power move but it's a political marriage anyway and he knows and is cool with it and also watches sometimes?, those two girls are having some sort of torrid masochistic friends with benefits thing while publicly pretending to be straight and engaging in hollow performative relationships, she's flat-out being abused, they're in love but the shadow of her dead ex-husband haunts this marriage and makes things awkward with his daughter, those two only had sex as part of a business transaction ("You receive: an heir") and never saw each other again, no real relationship will ever live up to her imagined could-have-been romance with the idealized version of her dead best friend that she regularly fantasizes about so she doesn't date, everyone assumes they're dating but they aren't and never will, those two keep feeling like they should be dating but it always falls apart within a week they go back to being friends and then a few months pass and they decide to try dating each other again rinse and repeat, her first kiss immediately went off on a suicide mission and that's really set the tone for later romantic affairs, this lady's been widowed six times by her 30th birthday and she hated all of them, he's been pining after his boss for years and she's just awkwardly pretending she doesn't notice in the hopes that he'll grow out of it at some point, these two bisexuals are dating as an act of mlm/wlw solidarity, not even I know what's going on with those two, I had these two characters dating in an early draft but honestly I think they can both just be single, I cut her love interest entirely because he added nothing, these two are married but mostly just business partners, these two are together but not even they know whether they're dating or just vibing, they should've gotten divorced years ago...

i headcanon queer!ashlyn and bisexual disaster!big red, and before they were a thing i always thought of them as mlm wlw solidarity. but now that they're, like, a thing, i'm also conflicted??? so i feel like you could do a "we dated for 2 seconds and realized we're just adorable best friends" kind of thing to check both boxes

I started to write a fic, but I got stuck. Because on one hand Big Red and Ashlyn are adorable together and Big Red deserves good things. On the other hand: Ashlyn is a useless lesbian if I’ve ever seen one

Do I write it with Big Red/Ashlyn (adorable couple) or do I just make Ashlyn the lesbian icon she deserves to be?
