if there’s one thing I truly dislike about the german musical scene it’s this ridiculous standart of translating a musical into german but then?? still hiring english actors to play the parts? who don’t even speak german but learn the german words and pronounciation for the role?

Like. Either translate it and hire german actors or don’t translate it and then you can hire anyone who speaks english well enough (which will be most ppl)

Like when I was a kid and first saw Cats I loved it but I thought they were putting on weird accents bc they were cats until I realized years later that no, those were brits singing german with english accents.

Saw Starlight Express last week, loved it! Could not understand what they were singing in some parts, bc my auditory processing issues do not mix very well with accents and some of them had strong ones too.

Just.... just hire ppl who speak german. Pls. How much time are you spending, coaching them on how to pronounce the german words? Why are you making these actors sing an entire musical in a language they don’t speak? Just let them sing in english or hire ppl who speak german. Please.
