#having a keyboard doesn't make me a better writer#but it does let me reference my plot outline and character goals#which means that I can actually do things with dialogue and realize that I've missed an entire scene that's crucial to Andrey's character#it would be really awkward if I had him suddenly obsess over Goncharov without building up to it#there's so much juicy inter-character hate that I'm absolutely not going to do justice to but I'm trying#saw the 'bad-writer-awards' post so I wrote another scene. hopefully I can post chapter two tomorrow after work#writing is a lot like a minecraft build. there's only so much prep you can do before you just have to sit down and actually start#once you've got max tools you have to buckle up and dig that hole.#once you've gathered the materials you just have to sit down and start placing them#and once you've gotten your story outline done... you have to sit down and write it.#it won't be perfect or even that great. but my minecraft builds don't have to be perfect either. the fun is in making and deconstructing.#not in the consumption of it#anyway I just wanna get into the weirdly uncomfortable power dynamic of Andrey spiraling as things go wrong#and Alexei trying to save his own skin by appeasing him#I just want to get to the fucked up relationship stuff
