Achievement Unlocked - 80K
Tumblr media
Hello! I’m back with another Xbox Gamerscore update. Its been a little over a year and a half and I’ve swiftly reached 80,000. I say swiftly because if you look back at my last update, here, my “realistic” estimation was that I wouldn’t get to this milestone for another year...but here we are.
One thing I’ve finally learned is to put all the old Achievement pics in an easily found folder so I don’t have to dive into 12 years worth of photo archives just to build a photogrid (See the bottom of this post). I was never really good at organized file management. Ironically, It’s time to jump into my highly organized Achievement-Math breakdown to see how the latest 10K stacks up against the previous 7.

Ok, if you’re new here, I know that’s a lot digest, let me try to make it make sense. Each Segment represents 10,000 achievement points. So, Seg. 1 is 0 - 10,000, Seg. 2 is 10,000 - 20,000, and so on. The new data is in Seg. 8, which represents points 70,000 - 80,000.
Thanks to the metadata attached to the photographically documented milestones, I know the exact days each Segment began and ended. Through that, I’m able to calculate a PPD or Points Per Day average for each segment. This gives a rough idea of how much I’m playing my Xbox consoles. I would say it gives me an idea of my overall gaming habits, but with my PS4, Switch and Steam gaming being very active, my Xbox numbers are just a fraction of all my gaming habits.
What did we learn this time? Well, my PPD improved significantly since Seg. 7 and at 17.9 I’m playing about as much Xbox as I was playing from 2015-2016 or even 2010-2012. Honestly, I’d say this is the most impressive 18 months I’ve had on Xbox Live since 2012 because Segment 6′s numbers are skewed by a pair of Fast and Furious games that basically gave me a free 2,000 points.
In my previous post, the average PPD was 17.32 that’s pretty close to the 17.9 I put up this segment. I also estimated my Seg. 8 completion date, based on historical data, and my math had me getting to 80,000 on 8/16/2020. Since my PPD improved I was 19 days early!
Let’s stow my oddball feelings of pride for a moment and talk about the future. I’ve successfully moved my average PPD to 17.39. With that established, there are some projections I’m able to make.

It looks like I have an appointment with February 24th of 2022. Most importantly, according to my calculations I’ll reach the 100,000 point milestone on 9/22/2023! That still seems like a long time from now, but knowing that the first time I did this dumb-ass excersize was in 2010, 3 years seems completely doable.
Ok, now for the nuts and bolts of this entire adventure, the games. Xbox Series X comes out later this year and I don’t know if I’ll be able to get one for a while. With that said, I probably have enough unplayed Xbox One games on my shelf to last me untill 90,000, but two things worry me going forward.
First, Microsoft hasn’t announced the achievement structure of the new platform. If they try to change things up in a destructive way, (which that have in the past) this whole thing could go up in flames. Also, as I said in my last post, fewer and fewer major games are being released on consoles these days. Sure there’s a nearly endless number of indie games coming out, but typically I play those on Steam because the digital deals are better throughout the year. I’m afraid the games I’d actually play on Series X might be released at such a trickle, that this excersize gets too depressing to be motivated to do.

I know, I know, first word problems, but when the normalcy of 13+ years of gaming is shaken I can’t help but feel anxious.
Hopefully we are able to reconveince sooner than later on this matter, until next time, stay weird.
Cheers
