it's important to watch shitty foreign movies, i'm so serious about this. when you only ever watch foreign movies if they make it to the oscars or if they're being talked about online, you have a distorted perception of what they're actually like. they're not prestigious, elitist, inaccessible, or hard to watch. they're just in a different language

#i'm not even talking about how every english language movie is technically foreign to me #there's nothing like watching a shitty german comedy or a mid asian action film to make me feel like we're all the same #i just got an ig reel in my feed with 20 international films recs and the comments were horrendous #some people were really saying putting 'the handmaiden' and 'i saw the devil' for korea instead of 'oldboy' was elitist and dkfnbdbskdbg #shut up about oldboy it's been 20 years watch more mvoies
