69 for fanfics asks
Good morning, Cookies!!! Hope you're doing well 💗💗💗 Hehehe funny number :]
69. What are your favorite fics at the moment?
Oh, god. So many. I think I'll just do dndads for now, but I definitely have a few recs for past fandoms as well :)c
In no particular order:
Hold Me Close and Fear Me Not by SilverListensToThings. It's Oakworthy, it's a fae au (one of my favorite au flavors, which is. VERY clear if you've been following me for a bit), extremely well executed just like all of Silver's stuff! Beautiful descriptions, beautiful dialogue, and there's beautiful fanart inspired by it as well!
Chrysalis by kaseyskat. Grips everyone reading this by their shoulders. Listen to me. If you like transfem Sparrow. If you hate transfem Sparrow. If you've been contemplating the idea of transfem Sparrow. READ THIS. Literally THE transfem Sparrow fic of all time, written by my dearest friend Nyx! Sparrow babygirl you are everything to me!!!!! Also speaking of dearest friends...
i don't know how to say this, 'cause you're really my dearest friend by cookiescrumbles. That's you omg!!! CEO of Swiftli. My silly little guys. My beloveds. Really fun dialogue, very in-character, nobody writes Taylor Swift (not that one, the other one) like my lovely mutual Cookies!!!
Cocoa Talk by Anonymous. I have, obviously, NO idea who this author is but I'm kissing them very gently on the forehead for this fic /p. It takes place immediately after the FBI/debate mini-arc and it explores some lingering trauma Link has from being questioned by Schmegan. BIG tws for discussion of sexual assault, but this is really, really well done, and I absolutely adore how the teens are all written here - all distinctly protective of each other in their own ways.
Memories by SandrC. Woah, a season 1 fic??? In my recs??? More likely than you'd think! REALLY fun au concept in which Barry fucks really badly with his son's memory in the Oakvale arc and the only thing Henry can do is escape back to earth. Without anyone else and without his memories. Mercedes and the moms deal with the fallout. This fic is unfinished; however, it occupies such a large space in my mind that I HAD to put it on here. Lots of angst, lots of comfort (or at least attempts at comfort), and a very fun divergence from how Lark and Sparrow turn out in canon as well.
Honestly, I could add many, many more, but basically, as far as dndads goes, anything written by kaseyskat, SilverListensToThings, or astrcnaut and you're pretty much golden!!!

Chapyard
Lmao both you and @audiodramatist asked for this i feel like im gonna come off as a bitch lmao
ve said before im not crazy about it, this is a common thing in shipping fandom where people will latch on to a couple (most often two white dudes) who will vaguely fit into a trope and then run with it until sometimes it feels like theyre just OC's which like at the end of the day thats kinda what fandom is for, manipulating existing stories into something for a group of people
chapyard have had some genuinely good moments and great interactions (yeah i dont talk about it bc im biased an obsessed w antigone but idk i probably could talk about it more if anyone really wants me to) but the big thing that kinda bugs me is where people go "omg theyre rivals theyre obsessed with each other" is as ive said so many times before.... theyre not really rivals thats antigone's role. rudyard hates chapman more because he doesn't like change. he does have a lot to say where he compares himself to chapman and wants to be better than him but its not centred around doing better funerals its centered around keeping that status quo bc funn funerals is all about tradition for rudyard (Which is why he likes history and the archive project he likes holding on to the past and keeping things the same)
that was a long way of just saying i don't think chapyard has the rivalry spice people say they do and they havent had a charged moment since season 1, Rudyard's aroace vibes just make him unshippable to me like this man doesnt have it in him to have something other than platonic relationships and so much of it feels like we;re making things up for the sake of fan interpretations that dont really exist in canon so im just not really into it
i dont know if any of this made any sense, i really don't want to engage in anything that could be considered a "shipwar" bc i am an adult but honestly so much said about chapyard's relationship canonically fits better with chapgone but again im biased i love antigone and also i dont usually care about things that dont involve women

Going off of nothing but the first episode’s vibes, here’s my ranking for the the narrative interest/cool factor of each m&m pc being the murderer. (Based off a conversation with @audiodramatist)
6. Buckster $. Boyd— The most initially villainous, but more so in the capitalist way than the murderer way. Probably doing Something hinky and/or evil but the only reason I could see him being the murderer would be as a set up for that other evil thing, and I think something more complex is going on.
5. Lars Vandenchomp— It would be Fun if they were secretly the mastermind of some plot but also I think the only way they could have done it is on someone else’s orders or by accident. And if they aren’t the mastermind of the plan, I don’t count them as the real murderer.
4. Daisy D’Umpstaire— Also initially one of the most evil-feeling, but she’s the only assassin rogue and that feels a bit too obvious. It would be fun to explore the social climbing aspect of her character more, which could lend itself to the purpose behind the murders (assuming there are more).
3. Gangie Green— Gangie seems the most obvious because of his criminal background. But Lars’s reaction to him makes me think that he’s actually a lot smarter and more important than he lets on, and I think he could be the one pulling the strings behind the scenes. And if he were to only be posing as a suspicious but ultimately unimportant person of interest, that would mess with the others so much it would be great.
2. Ian Prescott— Come on it would be fun.
1. Detective Sylvester Cross— The only murderer the detective couldn’t catch being himself is just so sexy it’s so sexy, the balls it takes to accept a case you committed/are involved in is even more sexy. I’m not sure if this is actually likely but it’s DEEPLY interesting and Sylvester seems to be the pc with the most ties to the others, so I think the reaction of everyone else would be the most profound.
My prediction for the moral/meaning behind it all is something about the Industrial Revolution’s exploitation of labor and the working class. However, because it’s dimension 20, I don’t think the working class will be the bad guy, and instead, they might be used as a cover for the true villain. If one of the pcs is the murderer/mastermind there has to be other people in on the plan so that both the audience and the other players aren’t immediately clued in. Also, because of the added complication of improv and dice rolls, I think it’s more likely for the pcs to be involved but not necessarily behind the plan—which as I already said wouldn’t make them The Murderer to me. So, to conclude, the likelihood of an actual pc murderer is relatively low as of ep1, but that doesn’t mean it wouldn’t be a blast to watch.
