like i am not a snob about fast food by any means. but i've never heard someone get giddy and excited about a new mcdonald's or kfc opening up near them or offering new menu items. so many ppl are like yeah whatever this company directly supports queerphobic causes but it tassstes good. i need to emphasize this so i don't seem to be apathetic while i order chicken prepared in a way that you can get at half a dozen other fast food places within a 10 mile radius.

#ppl in new england do get a certain nostalgic way about dunkin donuts though #i am one of them. i need to try a breakfast empanada #but dunkin donuts doesn't seem to be different (other than in the regional affinity) to basically any other fast food joint #well other than being a coffee-donut place while most other fast food is chicken/burgers/that kinda thing #does starbucks consider itself fast food? i think it barely considers itself... food. lol #sorry off topic #cont #in terms of chick-fil-a sentimentality it feels very similar to harry potter admiration #like a lot of ppl aren't just reconciling that they like something that supports harm in the world #their knee-jerk reaction is to double down and tell you how important it is to them actually.#meanwhile the relationship they have w it is not so unique or important or singular.#but shame creates defensiveness #and i can't really sympathize w either bc i didn't grow up with chick-fil-a or harry potter like at all lol #but given a fictional world is a lot different from a chicken sandwich #the hp conversation is exhausting bc it's a lot more along-the-spectrum #some ppl really wanna defend the original works for some reason or another (whatever)#and the moderate position is that u simply shouldnt buy merch/support new works by the author.#but there are plenty of ppl who are much more or much less willing to Let That Shit Go #there's more emotional involvement w a story that you could've grown up w & could've taught u to love reading.#that's perhaps why chick-fil-a lovers are so baffling to me.
