I NEED to know more abt the dear Vigo boi and spiky goth Aquarius. May or may mot have a crush on both of them ; w ;
TIME FOR SOME PARAGRAPHS [tw: child abuse, cult mention, death; ask to tag for other things that i might miss]
ALRIGHT SO Virgo boy is Judas Punch. He usually just goes by Jude.
Born in 1970 to a well-off family in Los Angeles, Jude’s older sister, Michelle, was secretly a huge Manson groupie. After a particularly intense LSD trip while listening to The White Album, the song Hey Jude came up and she took it as a sign. As he began to grow older, she started grooming him for her vision of Helter Skelter, to carry on Manson’s work.
November 16, 1978 was scheduled for Manson’s parole hearing, and that, she believed, would be the perfect time to send a message.
Jude, in the meantime, has been a worry for his family. He doesn’t speak. Doesn’t like eye contact. He moves very strangely--born with hypermobility, he bends very easily and comfortably, and this worries his mother. He’s had three exorcisms, none of which seemed to have helped any. That doesn’t even cover what sort of things his sister has been having him do. His twin brother doesn’t seem to have half of the problems he does and is much more well adjusted.
But he’s smart, and learns quickly. What Michelle does, it makes him feel bad, and he doesn’t want to do what she’s making him do. For tomorrow, she explains, when she tells him to, he needs to give this knife to their neighbors, right in their belly as hard as he can. But he knows that won’t feel good, because his back and forehead still hurt where it kissed him. He doesn’t like being bossed around, and he doesn’t like her.
So the night before the hearing, Jude kills his sister. It seemed to be the right thing to do, why didn’t anybody else understand that?
Jude spends the next five years in a mental institution, receiving no real help and no support from his family. Eventually he is shipped off to the east coast, to a small town called Pockmark. Unsuspecting though it may look, they boast one of the best institutions in the country, specializing in music therapy.
There, Jude is finally able to open up and takes up various instruments quickly. They help him organize his thoughts and keep his hands busy. And eventually, there, he meets an obnoxious punk rocker named Sisco who won’t stop asking him to join his band. Jude’s therapist says it might help his social skills. Whatever. Jude doesn’t really care, but relents as it gives him a chance to challenge himself musically. He still can’t stand listening to the Beatles. Other tidbits: He’s in the closet because he’s seen the sort of trauma Sisco has gone through and he doesn’t want to go through that himself. He’s also clairvoyant and sees white crows nearby people who are about to die, and can otherwise speak to the dead. Nobody ever believed him, of course, so he doesn’t talk about it. Corinne’s the only one that really believes him. He can seem airheaded sometimes because he often experiences missing time. --------------------------------------------- AND AQUARIUS, that would be Xenon. Born 1952 as Adam [Redacted], he had medical complications from early on. Albinism was the most apparent but due to developing alopecia, he was completely hairless by the age of 10, which also affected his immune system. Xen was in and out of hospitals from various illnesses through most of his life, in addition to be very serious and introverted, left him with few friends. He bonded closest with other black sheep, his best friends being beatniks and those in the freak scene.
He was only in the sixth grade for a week before falling horribly sick once again, and was stuck in the hospital for the rest of the year. Two of his classmates, however, would visit him daily. They were outcasts too. Dmitri, Beatrice, and Adam were inseparable.
They didn’t bother to wait for graduation to pack up and run away to New York City. It may not have been any more accepting of them than other places, but they had ways of getting work, and it was much more exciting than a small town. And more dangerous. Especially for three young queer kids.
On June 28th, 1969, a police raid on Stonewall Inn turned into a riot. All three of them spent the night in jail.
After that, Adam and Dmitri became less hidden about their relationship. Beat got in the most trouble usually for being both an outspoken Black Panther supporter and an outspoken feminist lesbian. But the two men stood behind her every step of the way.
Dmitri eventually founded a wildly successful underground zine called Fantasy Planet, which showcased queer models (like Adam) and queer art and literature (with many contributions made by Beat.) In their off-time, Adam and Beat were apprenticing as a piercer and tattoo artist respectively.
With a supportive network and community, Adam was finally able to explore parts of himself he ignored before. His gender. His sexuality. His humanity. Morals, worldviews, politics, ideas, purpose. Around this time, he began to go by Xenon, taken from the noble gas. On occasion he would publish articles and stories under this new name before using it in public. Many of the characters in his stories were alien, and used new and ungendered pronouns. It was safe to do so, in fiction. And it was safe to do so, at home, when it was just the three of them.
Hard drugs weren’t uncommon in the scenes they frequented. They didn’t have a name for what killed Dmitri. It was pneumonia, they were told.
Xen completely shut himself away and became solely focused on his own work. The remaining two left NYC and opened up a shop in a small town called Pockmark in PA. Dmitri’s grandmother lived there and she needed to be taken care of. She raised him. It was the least he could do. And, despite how bigoted the townsfolk could be, there was a growing market for body modification. Their most frequent visitor was a man named Billy, and his entourage. He often visited from Crater City. There were rumors he had mob ties. Nothing Xen wasn’t familiar with. His only concern was the boy who followed him around. A young orphan they called Francis who couldn’t have been older then thirteen. Not stepping in sooner ended up being one of his greatest regrets. (But don’t worry, he sort of made up for it by being the only person to visit him in the hospital after the fire. He’s basically his dad now.) Other tidbits: One of Xen’s most hardcore body modifications was the removal of his nipples and genitals. He also has the majority of his body tattooed and, being a huge fan of the movie Alien, has a heavy biomechanical theme. He considers himself to exist outside of gender and being human. After Dmitri’s death, Xen and Beat became legally married--in case either died, the other would be able to get their assets. They love each other deeply but platonically. Beat frequently dates other women (though not as much in the small town), while Xen does not. If he had the words we have today he would call himself asexual and aromantic. (He was in love with Dmitri and found no reason to continue romantic exploits after his death.) While he is a father figure to Sisco especially, he also very much plays a mentor role for Jude as the two are rather similar (introverted, serious, and both contenders for being the King of Deadpan Humor.)
#judas punch#jude#xen#beat#barnum's lot#the deadbeats#the dead beats#dead*beats#oc#ocs#bios#writing#there's also some stuff im not reveling yet until i get get the comic out ofc#also if it wasn't clear Francis and Sisco are the same person. full name: Francisco.#they forced him to go by Francis because they thought it would make him seem more white and easier to be adopted#that worked not at all#nasti imagines

mtmte liveblog issue 13
humansona time, hell yes
OH MAN I forgot about the stuff w/swerve and blurr oof
that panel of perceptor just saying random equations always kills me vhsdjhfkbjhksdfnka
also I love so much that they call perceptor ‘percy’ that's so cute
I love the implications here that people just Grab minibots and carry them around like luggage bc they are Tiny lmao
ohhhh my god I fuckgin love ‘I'm just wondering if there's time to expand my aura and cleanse the area of aggression’ ‘I...don't think so, drift’ hgbadjfjbaskdfs drift’s hippy nonsense delivered completely seriously pairs hilariously with his whole ‘violent guy with a bunch of swords’ thing lmao
also, IM NEVER OVER CYCLONUS SINGING TO TAILGATE, and also the security team mistaking it for cyclonus murdering tg hbhkjadfbjkhsdf cyclonus u icon
and tg looking at cyclonus all heart-eyes, omg
drift showing rodimus how to swordfight...fellas.....
rodimus, being entirely ignorant to the irony in calling cyclonus and tailgate’s relationship strange when he and drift are Right There, being weird gay frat bros
did yall know, I love magnus so much. law dad
magnus saying ‘that's not even a word. id have heard of it’ about the word ‘relax’ is so funny god
rodimus bribing swerve with a bar license to get magnus turnt is hbvhjakdbfhskf
never over rodimus portioning out drifts blood money to the crew for shore leave hubhjsdkhfdbjksd god
despite tg lying about a good amount of his past, I feel like he rlly DOES see cyclonus as a link to a more familiar time, and that's a large reason why he’s so forgiving toward cyc
mannnn the stuff w/blurr and swerve is so depressing in retrospect. swerve is like, such a depressing character the more you think abt him vbhskjdhfbsk jesus
magnus trying to get in on the convo when swerve starts talking statistics oh magnus
idk what ‘the lube pits’ are but I Really do not want to know
‘the temple of the raging prism’ sounds fuckin bangin tho
I love seeing everyones humansona!! this art style is pretty simple, but I think it looks cute
rungs ‘human name’ being ‘mary sue’ lmaoooooo jro w/the self callout
also skids’ name being blank is a nice touch
still not over tg being a baby....poor guy
whirls humansona is so fuckgin good, also swerve looks like a hobbit
magnus basing his avatar on verity is so sweet ;_; I really should read all the wreckers stuff after I finish this reread
THE ABSOLUTE COMEDY OF MAGNUS JUST FUCKGIN PASSING OUT THE INSTANT THE ALOCHOL HITS...ICONIC
WHY would magnus accept a drink from whirl anyways lmao
tailgate is so cute
they rlly just left magnus facedown on the table and kept drinking huh. the irresponsibility....we love it
ARE YOU SURE THAT KILLMASTER IS DEAD, WHIRL? ARE YOU SURE ABOUT THAT?
rung don't lie, froid is your nemesis
WHY do we never get to hear more about skids’ apparent beef with misfire
rewind calling the swerve/misfire This early, wow
literally Everyone abandoning swerve to deal with magnus hgbvhfjdskdfbhs I fucking love this issue man
GOD I LOVE MAGNUS SO MUCH!!!!!!!! he’s such an interesting and unique character and hhhh I love him and his development
like, he was probably the biggest surprise out of everyone who agreed to go on the quest - ostensibly it was to keep order on the lost light, but it would make sense that magnus would get tired of being the Only one who cares about that sorta stuff on board
drunk magnus is such a delight oh my god
magnus rlly just wants everyone to be safe :( my daddddd
magnus: I love all my children equally...swerve, rodimus, [looks at smudged writing on hand] dirt
swerve: see, magnus, that’s where you’re wrong - I ALSO have crippling depression!
cant believe they bought rodimus a hat vhbhksdfhahsjkdf
HHHHH GOD I FORGOT ABT THATTTT when cyclonus goes bonkers in order to stop rewind from playing the ark 1 footage and inadvertently outing tailgate as a liar....AUGHHHHH THE FUCKING...THE FUCKING ROMANCE OF IT ALL
POOR MAGNUS LMAOOOO
oh rewind :( you should really wonder a little harder where chromedome is right now...oof
everyone jumping on magnus while he’s passed tf out is SO fucking funny
RUNG, PLEASE, WE REALLY DONT NEED TO THINK ABOUT WHATS AROUND THE CORNER. REALLY DONT
hhhhhhhhhhh I love how cyclonus sat tailgate down and confronted him about lying, but did it privately and not in front of everyone - and he even saved tg from being exposed as a liar, too. AUGH
I feel like cyclonus is kinda impressed at how effortlessly tg has managed to lie this whole time, and tbh it IS impressive, especially considering tailgate was basically teleported 6 million years into the future and has no idea how the world works anymore, but was still able to lie convincingly. even cyclonus only realized bc of his own past, and not until now
tailgate ;_; ;_; ;_;
cyclonus: oh no...im soft
tailgate and cyclonus singing ye olde cybertronian tunes together...OUGHHHH my fucking heart bro mY FUCKING HEART.
on that note: the song ‘to noise making (sing)’ by hozier is literally about cygate. thank u for coming to my ted talk
UGH GOD SWERVE STOP MAKING ME SO SAD, ITS NOT EVEN THE SWEARTH ARC YET
magnus had to like, get the robot equivalent of a stomach pumping after that hvbskdjfbhskdf jesus they really did almost kill him huh
I consider this issue forshadowing bc it makes 100% sense that minimus would be a Mega Lightweight considering he’s like 3 feet tall
the real quest that swerve is participating in is ‘the quest to get friends’ and so far its going pretty badly. poor dude
godddd the thing that says ‘next: Overlord!’ with a fucking exclamation point I DONT APPRECIATE THAT.
OHO i forgot abt the canon fanfic at the end of this issue
rung kicking things off with some good ole bodily workings-based dread
ok but being so awed by the construction of your species’ anatomy that you wanna fall on the floor in amazement? that's a whole ass mood and I do frequently stare at walls for long periods of time, thinking about the marvel that is the human body. so rung is valid
FROID NAME DROP LMAO. also yet again, are you SURE he’s dead?? are you????
the name ‘froid’ cracked me up almost as much as ‘rigor morphis’ did when I first read this...robot-based science puns! woohoo!
rung rlly b out here thinking abt overlords lips.....
‘forced browsing is not the autobot way’ lmao skids
also fr tailgate defs thinks that whirls actually name is nutjob
the entire segment of cyclonus browsing and everyone watching him and commenting is just. golden
oh no. don't make me think of rewind and his tiny memory sticks that he carries around. I'm NOT READY
magnus’ brutal read on rodimus and the fact that he’s more suited, personality-wise, to wartime than peacetime? oof. love it
I ALSO love that a big part of this issue was magnus admitting, in less direct terms, that HE isn't made for the post-war life either - his strict adherence to the rules and constant vigilance isn't exactly the best mindset for peacetime, for him or the people under his command
magnus’s hatred of metaphors and similes and the like....hvbsdjkfbasjhdf I love him
MAGNUS ILY...he’s trying SO HARD cut him some slack. i think his jokes are. yeah!
oh goody this text used "rodimus’s" so I guess that's canonically correct and I haven't been using grammar incorrectly as I had feared
rodimus sitting ON his desk and doodling on it...adhd icon
rodimus calling rung a psychotherapist, which was rung’s grounds for a nemesis hvbhjabfdskfnkks
rung: as I'm sure you know I take patient confidentiality VERY seriously
narrator: That Was A Lie
AUGH this hurts...rung trying to get justice for red alert but rodimus is in on the overlord stuff :( ouch
so issue 13! I fucking love this issue. just some good ole funney space hijinks, with some nice relationship development for tg and cyc - plus a revelation about tailgate - and some characterization for swerve and magnus. plus we get to see humansonas, which is always fun. augh I love this comic, and I am SO not ready for the next few issues, good lord

What are your most recommended Green Goblin stories? Not just comics, like, TV shows, movies, novels, so on so fourth. I'm wanna read more about the character. :)
Okay well it depends upon how faithful you wanna be and which Green Goblin we’re talking about. For the sake of this post I’m presuming Norman and you can ask again if you didn’t mean him.
The 1990s cartoon show and the Sam Raimi movies portray Norman as different from the comics. He’s more sympathetic and has a kinda sorta but not really DID thing going on. He does when in Goblin mode ACT like the comic book Green Goblin and the season 3 finale of the 1994 cartoon beautifully combines together 3 classic Silver Age Goblin stories.
Outside of that the best adaptation to go for is the one from the Spec cartoon which is unfaithful in so far as the sequence of events that happen and him not knowing who Peter is when Peter learns his identity. His personality in and out of the costume though is accurate within the context of the new situations.
As far as novels are concerned I don’t think there are any worthwhile Norman appearences in those, though I’ve not finished reading through the Hostile Takeover one for the PS4 game yet so idk. Goblin Moon from the 1990s is the only Norman centric novel (aside from like novelizations of the movies but those are basically pointless if you’ve seen the films) and it’s not that great to be honest.
In terms of comics though, I’ll keep this to 616 because otherwise it will get out of control.
Check out ASM #26-27. This is maybe the best Ditko era Goblin story and epitomizes what he was all about back then, taking over the gangs.
ASM #39-40. This redefined Norman and Peter’s relationship permanently afterwards.
ASM Annual #9. This is a remake of Spectacular spider-man magazine #2 but a brilliant story.
Maybe ASM #96-98. As a Goblin story it’s just more of the same from Annual #9, but not as good and is more interesting for Harry than Norman but it does sort of set up my next entry.
ASM #121-122. Death of Gwen Stacy. Nuff said.
Spec Annual 1994: This is the origin of the Osborn family really. It’s kind of more about Harry than Norman but it’s still important to Norman’s character.
Legacy of Evil One Shot: This story is kind of half about Harry but it’s also about Norman’s legacy. It’s a great companion piece to Spec Annual 1994.
Maybe ASM Annual 1996. Not really *important* exactly but it’s a good illustration of who Norman as a person is because he tries to man up Harry in a fucked up way. It’s a flashback story to the Silver Age and it excellent unto itself.
Revelations, the wrap up to the Clone Saga: Norman comes back to life so it’s historically important but more poignantly it again redefines his and Peter’s relationship and part 4 has some great battle sequences between them and highlights Norman’s duality as both a force of evil in peter’s life but also a pathetic human being.
The Osborn Journals One Shot: This is an info dump explaining Norman’s history with the Clone Saga so it’s important but it also illustrates his whole character. It acts as both a prequel and epilogue to Revelations.
Every appearance of him after the Clone Saga up until just before the Gathering of Five: Possibly Norman’s best era where he owned the Bugle and fucked with everyone but pretended to be a philanthropist. Special reccommendation goes to Spec #250 and PPSM #95, great stories about Norman’s character and his relationship with Spider-Man. Those two issues show you some reasons as to why Norman is THE best Spider-Man villain period.
Revenge of the Green Goblin: this arc explands Norman’s origin and features him attempting to make Peter his heir. Brilliant stuff!
Spider-Man’s Tangled Web #13: This debatably canonical story is basically the Spidey equivilent of ‘Almost Got Im’ from BTAS and contains a strong ending involving Norman
A Death in the Family: Another strong Goblin story let down by the art and to a lesser extent some dialogue from Peter at the end but still one of the best Norman stories.
Marvel Knights #1-12: Not exactly a Goblin story entirely but still good and heavily involves Norman.
Superior Spider-Man Team Up #11-12: There are some problems with this story but over all it’s not a bad showing for Norman’s character and presents a strong contrast between him and Doc Ock in their philosophies.

So a month ago i started running a game on skype
this is how im starting it because i dont know how else to explain it. in the party we basically have a good mix of characters races (dwarven, nymph, half elf, elf and human). we also have a good mix of multi classes that i never thought id see and oddly enough we have a guy with a war spoon. yes a war spoon a spoon that is the size of a club and he can beat the shit out of someone or dig with it.
now that weird gif is one here to get your attention lets go into what happened in chapter 1 of this campaign. i didn't know what to call the story of this quest so when we started out i titled it WTF dnd. this was because me and some friends joked about what it was gonna be like if we had kinks that people (player characters and NPC’s) could have in the world of dnd because lets face it you throw magic into the mix and everything goes WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU!
this was the base of experiment DND as i secretly called it to some of my other DM friends. now the story has started to take on a plot that i never expected just by watching my players. it got to the point where i had to scrap my first idea and break into two campaigns that i never got to finish playing when i was younger and had written when i was 13 - 18 years old and made a custom adventure. i also threw in some of my older dnd characters as named npc’s to help the characters meet and basically keep my players some what on track while still letting them roam and explore the world. i find that having this done by some dnd groups makes it where the characters have something to lean on when they get stuck but at the same time brings a comic relief and a fun pit stop when you and the players both need a break for a few sessions to break up the tension but more importantly like how we are close to the Xmas season give me a time to give the players a in game Christmas party feel to have fun with. this also opens up something that most DM’s have problems with and that is character communication. it helps you in making sure your players learn to get along with each other now and then and learn more about each other in the game so that the party grows to view the group as a group of friends or even a family that is out to protect others as well as each other.
the story started out with the basic get the bard that is like the JK Rowling of the world to his next book signing and magic mirror broadcast show (my worlds version of tv) but it also turned into them basically getting on a quest to start a full on war against a evil god and at the same time to try and stop a evil lord that is in-slaving elves and half elves people in town. the bard that they had to deal with was reveled to be using a puppet to masquerade as the true bard because he was in a sense marred in his looks because he was half pig demon. this being learned by all the group managed to make it where the bard learned it was not looks that matter but heart that did. it helped him in realizing a life lesson. at the same time they also earned a paladin of a god along the way and helped in saving at lest one persons life. the god of fate and his brother though refused to bring back the girls father as the spirit asked not to go back. the group is now to the point where they are learning more about each other and im surprised at how far my players have come int e first episode they where not supposed to learn about this stuff yet. and yet some how they managed to ask right questions talk to the right people and boom they have made it to where i have had to go back and rewrite things.
But that is ok. its because of my players having fun i have fun and in truth by me having to go back rewrite place chapters in different orders im narrating a story that now it doesn't seem like some mundane world but rather a world that not just me but my friends have made and its so much fun to play in that me and my players cant wait for the next day. i end up counting down the days to game even the hours on the day of until i can boot my computer up and call my friends long on to roll 20 and play a game that i have come to love and enjoy. if i had to say anything right now about this game it would be that i have some of the funniest, confusing, monkey wrench throwing players in the world and i wouldn't change it. mostly because i know that if they where not then yeah this game would be boring.

So, i came to terms with the fact that im bi a few years ago but i had a boyfriend at the time so i didnt do anything about it. He and i broke up, i grieved for a good year and a half like the emotional disaster i am, and now im trying to put myself out there again but im SUPER nervous. I dont know how my family will react. Ive never been with a woman before and i dont know what im doing. My emotions are so all over the place. Please just tell me this is normal..
First of all, it’s totally normal. You’re branching out into unknown territory. It’s okay to have weird, messy feelings about it. Second of all, there’s no reason to be nervous yet. Not that you should worry too much anyway. For the moment though, you’re not doing anything scary. So you’re ready to date/whatever and you might date/whatever people who aren’t men if you find someone you’re interested in. You still have to find them. There’s no use worrying yourself sick over inexperience before you even find someone you want to date or fuck or hold hands with or whatever you’re into. If you’re super worried about sexual inexperience, I always recommend not having sex with people who you’re uncomfortable with. Be honest and open with your partners. Everybody had a first time getting used to different kinds of sex. Don’t fuck someone who sucks, basically ok. If you’re an obsessive worrier like me, you can also google the damn thing. There are all kinds of guides about how to do whatever it is you’re interested in doing. You also can just go for it. Ask your partner what they like. Tell your partner what you like. The basic premise is the same no matter who you’re having sex with.
As for your parents, look- I know it’s a lot of pressure to come out. To make it some big revelation. To sit everybody down and get it over with. That’s not really how it works. It’s never really over with. You’re going to come out literally hundreds of times in your life between starting new jobs and making new friends, etc. People are almost always going to make assumptions about your sexuality and you are almost always going to have to choose to correct them or let it slide. Anyway, my point is: it’s okay if you fuck up the first one. You’ll get to do it again. Sometimes you even come out to the same people multiple times in your life. I’ve had to have that talk with my mom on like three different occasions. If you’re nervous about your parents’ reaction, I can’t tell you that it’s not justified. You know them better than me. You probably have some idea about their political leanings and what kind of people they are. If you have serious concerns about how they might react, make sure you have people you can fall back on, a place to stay, stuff like that just in case. But that’s worst case scenario. My family sucked about it and they still suck about it but we still talk. I would probably suggest waiting until you’ve found someone you want to date or starting by coming out to a friend so you can get the hang of how the conversation goes. You also don’t have to sit down in the living room and tell your whole family you’re into more than men. You can do it over the phone, you can text it, you can write a letter or an email. I came out on Facebook with some bisexuality comics by @kateleth. Ultimately though, you don’t have to come out now or ever if you don’t want to. There’s nothing wrong with not broadcasting your sexuality. It’s really nobody’s business but yours. Don’t let people make you feel bad for not being out. Everything happens at Your Pace. You get to make all the calls here.

Quick Review of Sega Genesis Classics
So a massive collection of Genesis games came out a few months go. So I want to give a brief take on all the games of this collection. Brace yourself, we’re in for a long haul. Alex Kidd in Enchanted Castle: I grew up playing this game, but I have to say, it has not aged well. Its not as good as Alex Kidd in Miracle World. It has its charm with the items, but the actual platfrming and attacking is a bit wonky. I wont say its bad, but there better games in this collection (2.5/5) Alien Soldier I...haven’t played this game yet.....so, no grade Alien Storm Another port of an arcade game. This port sadly lost some of the content from the Arcade version, but i still dig it as a quick little arcade port. I like the changes in the game play (switching from a general beat-em up to a FPS gallery, to a side scrolling shooter). Its a bit short, and can be a bit challenging, but honestly, its pretty decent. 3/5 Altered Beast Oh Altered Beast....so infamous. This was a pack in release title for the genesis, and it definitely shows. Very short, barely any replay value. I still like it...in a cheesy sort of way. You can beat it in like 15 minutes if you know what you’re doing. 2/5 Beyond Oasis This is a pretty good action/adventure game that has some nice gameplay similar to Streets of Rage. Also, Yuzo Koshiro does the music...but IMO its not his best word. Definitely a fun title. 4/5 Bio-Hazard Battle Haven’t played this yet either... Columns A challenging puzzle game that is once again an arcade port. It is pretty basic though with only a few variations of game modes, and no “Vs. Computer” option. Not to say its bad, but its very bare bones. 3/5 Columns III Having a Vs. Computer mode for this game was a great idea...in practice. Playing it is very slow paced and matches can take a long time. It does have up to 5 players which is cool...but im not sure if thats even possible now. None-the-less, too little too late. 2/5 Comix Zone. Now we get onto the heavy hitters. This is a creative action game where you’re literally playing through a comic book. Its brutally hard though, but rewarding. IF you can get past the difficulty curve, you’re in for a good time 4/5 Crack Down Shoot enemies, stop bombs. Rinse, repeat. Another arcade port. Its a bit ambitious for its time, but a bit too repetitive at times. Not bad, not good IMO. 2/5 Decap Attack A unique platformer that sadly got Americanized with its localization. Instead of a cutesy platformer, you get this horror themed game. I never quite got into it, but honestly its not abad game. Its probably just the theme that I never liked. If you can get past that, you will find a decently unique platformer. 3/5 Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine The game that introduced me to Puyo Puyo. I love Puyo Puyo. This game however is frustrating because of its difficulty. A shame considering that Puyo Puyo is a fun series. Considering that there are multiple puyo puyo games other places (Puyo Puyo Tetris comes to mind) I can only recommend this one mildly. 3/5 Dynamite Heady Another creative platformer. This game is challenging, but its also very fun and has catchy music. This one gets a high recommendation because of its uniqueness. 4/5 ESWAT: City Under Siege Rather than porting the Rolling Thunder like arcade game, we get an original game thats a platformer. Its not bad, but it can get pretty hard at times. You have to utilize the weapons that you have to effectively beat it. Challenging, a bit short, but still worth playing IMO. 3.5/5 Fatal Labyrinth An often overlooked Rogue-Like RPG that can be unintentionally hilarious at times. Its simple, a bit difficult, but imo fun. Be prepared to die...alot! 3/5 Flicky Another arcade port...a cutesy one at that. Simple, harmless, and not much else to be said about it. 3/5 Gain Ground Hey, another arcade port. One thats pretty unique too. You have to be strategic with how you are going to go through each level with your characters. Not too bad to be honest. 3/5 Galaxy Force II I love this game...in the arcade (or on 3DS). On genesis however...not so much. This is a very bad port that waters down everything from the speed, the graphics, and the music. If anything play it on 3DS and skip this one. 1/5 Golden Axe An arcade port that actually ADDs to the game with a few extra levels. Its a decent port, but having that extra stuff makes it a bit better IMO. 4/5 Golden Axe II More of the same, but with a few better graphics and music. While the arcade was reveling in the awesomeness that was Golden Axe: The Revenge of Death Adder, we sadly got this game that couldn’t measure up to it. 3/5 Golden Axe III Add more characters, and change the formula. Good way to try keep the formula fresh...at least on paper. But in practice, it was bland, ugly, and just not good. 1/5 Gunstar Heroes This could be said as Sega’s answer to Contra, and it definitely shows. In your face action, fast paced greatness. Its challenging, but rewarding, and definitely one of the best games in the collection. 5/5 Kid Chameleon This game is very divisive. Its an interesting platformer that has alot of secrets traps, and frustration. Its long (unless you know what you’re doing). Some like it, some dont. Im one of the few that like it and its brutality, but I can understand why people dont like it. 3/5 Landstalker Climax made this game, and you can tell because it has alot of the things that make it like Shining Force. And so far, I dig it. No grade yet. Light Crusader Haven’t played it yet Phantasy Star II This game...hasn’t aged well. I really like it. I think it has a great story, but has not aged well. Somewhat grindy at parts, and the third act can be very slow. If you can get past these parts, its a great JRPG. But mileage may vary. *notice: If playing on PC, try to find a modernization patch through the steamworkshop that’ll fix those issues* 3/5 Phantasy Star III: Generations of Doom Great on paper with the generation system that essentially makes possible multiple endings, but everything else is bland and confusing. The weakest of the series none-the-less. 2/5 Phantasy Star IV: The End of the Millenium HOLY CRAP, without question one of the best RPGs on Genesis. This game would fully be appreciated if you played PS, and PSII, but even so, its a great game with an excellent story, great music. The total package...and considering how much this game cost on Genesis (up to $100!) you’re getting a great deal. 5/5 The Revenge of Shinobi IMO, one of the original killer apps for Genesis. Great action, excellent Yuzo Koshiro soundtrack, and overall great package. Some of the controls are a bit stiff, but overall well worth it. 4/5 Ristar Another unique platformer that I feel kinda got forgotten about. Its very creative, and has alot of fun moments. A bit slower than something like Sonic, but still very fun. 4/5 Shadow Dancer: The Secret of Shinobi Not a direct sequel to Revenge of Shinobi, but more of a side story. Plays more arcadey like classic Shinobi. One hit and your dead. Might be a bit of a turn off, but the challenge is balanced. Not as good as Revenge, but still good IMO. 4/5 Shining Force If Phantasy Star filled the traditional RPG niche for Genesis, then Shining Force filled in the strategy RPG niche, and it did it darn well. Simple strategic gameplay, but still deep enough strategy to be challenging. A great start for a series that sadly has gone by the wayside. 4/5 Shining Force II More of the same with Shining Force one, but in my opinion a bit more balanced and better. If you enjoyed the game above, you’ll enjoy this one even more. 5/5 Shining in the Darkness Another traditional JRPG on this collection. The plot is very simple and the gameplay is pretty basic for a dungeon crawler RPG, but the charm is there with the characters and the art of the game. 4/5 Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Masters The pinnacle of the Shinobi series. The gameplay is vastly improved from Revenge of Shinobi, adding in new moves, and stage variety (surfing on a jet board). The music rocks. Definitely one of the best games on the collection. 5/5 Sonic the Hedgehog The game that started the Blue Blur craze is still one of the best. Laid the foundation for a (2D) series that made fans out of many people. 4/5 Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Took everything that made Sonic 1 great, and made it twenty times better. More levels, a new companion, and....a halfpipe bonus stage. YUCK. Regardless, a great sequel. 5/5 Sonic Spinball More of an experimental phase for sonic. This game is decent, but frustrating and short. Not the best of the experimental phase, but you could do much worse. 3/5 Sonic 3D Blast If this were the saturn version, I would have rated it higher (for the better bonus stages, graphics, and music) but sadly, you get the bland version in the collection. Its not a bad game, but is a bit boring taking away the speed from past games. 2/5 Space Harrier II We didn’t get a proper port of Space Harrier on consoles until 32X, so instead we got this sequel, which isn’t as good as the first game, but IMO still has some memorable bosses. It runs a bit slower and is a bit short. Then again this was a launch title. 3/5 Streets of Rage Sega’s answer to Final Fight with some kickin tunes by Yuzo Koshiro. This game started the series with some good gameplay, but definitely had some annoying enemies (I’m looking at you Mona and Lisa!). Still a good start to the series. 4/5 Streets of Rage 2 Taking everything that was great about the first game, and making it better. Though im sad they got rid of the car attacks. This game has smoother gameplay with some tweaked fighting engine. 5/5 Streets of Rage 3 IMO best game in the series...if you’re playing the Japanese version (which you can do, but untranslated). But if its the american version, its a good game thats frustratingly difficult because of its American restrictions and difficulty tweaking. Its sad because this game plays very well other than those issues. 3/5 (American), 5/5 (Japanese) Super Thunder Blade The infamous Super Thunder Blade. SLow, clunky, and with a second level that is infamous for being brutally hard. I have owned this game in the past (still do I believe), and believe it or not, its not the worst game ive played. Its not as bad as people make it out to be, but still not good. 2/5 Sword of Vermillion UGH. A great soundtrack can’t help this slouch of a game. Slow paced, battle system thats confusing and bland, and just not a fun game overall. 1/5 ToeJam & Earl This quirky game is a very fun co-op rogue-like game. Its simple to learn, but mastering it is crucial to going through the brutal upper levels. Its hilarious, fun, and definitely memorable. 4/5 ToeJam & Earl 2: Panic on Funkatron Still haven’t had the chance to play this one yet... Vectorman For the time I thought this game had great graphics and fast paced gameplay. Its got a good challenge too. Its too bad we only got 2 games in this series, because I feel like a new game would be welcome. Nevertheless, I think this game is worth checking out. 4/5 Vectorman 2 More or less the same as Vectorman 1, but a bit more polished. So if you liked the first one, you’ll like this one. 4/5 Virtua Fighter 2 *breathes* I love Virtua Fighter 2. This is NOT Virtua Fighter 2. Why even port this game on Genesis. The hardware cant handle it. making a 3d fighter a 2D fighter is a bad idea. Furthermore, it doesn’t even have the 2 new characters, so why is this even VF2. Its more like VF1.5...and thats being generous. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! 0/5 Wonder Boy III: Dragon’s Lair I have mixed feelings on this game. I feel like they tried to take classic wonder boy (SMS), and make it a side scrolling shooter. If you were expecting a true sequel to Wonder boy in Monster Land, you’d be disappointed. That being said, its not a bad game, but definitely a disappointment considering what we should have gotten (Dragon’s Trap) 2.5/5 Wonder Boy in Monster World A true Gem of a Genesis game. Has a few issues with its attack structure, and its also been Americanized (Last Boss is unnecessarily harder because of a conveyer belt) but still one of the better games on Genesis. Sadly we didn’t get Monster World IV which is just as good, if not better, than this game. 4/5
*Note: The Wonder Boy games are oddly absent on the Switch version. Notable Omissions: Sonic 3 & Knuckles From what I hear its because of the Michael Jackson music samples. Regardless, the omission of this game is a shame because its probably (IMO) the best in the series. Ecco the Dolphin and Ecco 2: The Tides of Time Another series that kinda went by the wayside, these games were kind of a staple of the Genesis. Challenging, yet very unique in gameplay and story. Just...leave Ecco Jr out of this. Thats about it. If i can think of anymore stuff, I’ll add it onto this collection.
