Haha, man I don't think there's anything in the world I can do to get people to read/comment on "Getting the Band Together" but it sure would be cool. It's just one of the downsides of fandom events where a lot of fics and art get posted at the same time, so things can get lost in the shuffle. I've had kinda a rough stretch of luck with events with giftees dropping out/not being on AO3 to leave comments/forgetting to read and comment etc and while I got a nice reblog on this one, it's kinda hard to go back and find that and appreciate it as opposed to an AO3 comment etc.

IDK maybe it's bc it's a band AU? I don't really know who usually goes for those, so maybe I missed the mark on it, but I thought it was a good effort. XD

haha, um, that is to say, I think I'm a pretty good writing partner? I mean, it doesn't always work out with everyone, but I have had some pretty successful collaborations in the past and I think that's due to me being not just good at coming up with ideas, but figuring out how to piece together the ideas both of us come up with in a logical (and hopefully satisfying way). Some of this happens in the planning stage, a lot of it happens in edits. I've gotten pretty good at meshing my writing with a partner's during edits so that it's not TOO terribly obvious when one person or the other has taken over. Anyways, it's just a skill I've developed over the years that I think not everyone has (because not everyone works that way).

💝what is a fic that got a different response than you were expecting?

"Bound in Volumes" was my fic with the most reviews for a long time. It was the first time I wrote a fic based on a random tumblr prompt, and I sorta started it from a "haha, let me bang out this one shot real quick" mentality. It grew to be a multichapter, and while I felt myself a little out of my depth writing about some topics I don't have personal experience with (namely PTSD) I tried to do my due diligence in regards to reading up on people's experiences and coping mechanisms. My expectation was that people would enjoy reading a fic about their OTP in an AU, and that would be that.

What I did *not* expect was to get several comments from people who experienced PTSD themselves (or had a partner who did) writing to tell me how much the story resonated with them. To read comments from people saying they felt like I'd transcribed their experience perfectly really shocked me, in a good way. Mainly, I take it as a lesson that you don't have to be or live everything you want to write about, you just have to be willing to put in the work, approach things with respect, and focus on telling the best story you can with what you've learned.

Things are starting to get real in "Homes Around the Corner"- a lot of history has been aired out between Matt and Foggy, which means we're able to move forward with some of the plotty elements, particularly the case that Foggy has been laboring over. I don't usually put a lot of case stuff in fics, so it's been a fun challenge to try and sort something out (even if the terms are still general) to include in this one.

Hey guys !!! I hope everyone in this wonderful fandom is doing amazing <3 Recently, my friend and I have come up with a very interesting and fun event that we're hoping you all would like to participate in. We haven't really seen surprise prompts and drabble weeks for Levihan before, so we decided to make one! Also a very fun contest with cool awards too.

Getting straight to the point, the reason why this event is different from an usual prompt week is because we are only going to be focusing on drabbles here. (And also because the prompts won't be predetermined and given to you beforehand)

(Note: this is also open to artists and other content creators. We will be making another post tomorrow explaining how the event works for them. Till then, the writers can continue)

✒ A drabble is a short work of fiction of precisely one hundred words in length. The purpose of the drabble is brevity, testing the author's ability to express interesting and meaningful ideas in a confined space. (YeS I stole it from google)

As a writer myself, due to the limited word limit, drabbles can be a bit of a struggle sometimes, and that is primarily the reason why this whole event is also somewhat more of a writing practice (other than the fact that we need to get those numbers on AO3 up haha)

Without wasting much time, let's get straight into the details, and how this is really going to work, what are surprise prompts and the contest and its awards of course.

▶ How long are your entries really supposed to be? Well Google says 100 words but that's way too unfair so your fic should be = to or under 1000 words. The maximum you can go up to is 1500.

▶ Are there any certain prompts/themes these drabbles should be on? Yes, and that's what we are going to talk about next.

▶ And what are surprise prompts? Okay so remember back when in school, your annoying math teacher would take a surprise quiz out of nowhere without informing you? Yeah something like that but its not that bad. Also, its a lot more fun than math.

Basically your prompts will be given to you a day before you need to post them. so its really just a writing practice and there is no pressure, so don't think about the quality or something. This is about scribbling down something quick without a lot of planning.

The prompts are also going to be chosen from an OTP prompt generator, so they are going to be uhm interesting and fun to work.

We have a theme for each day (like angst, fluff etc) and the mods will choose 4 random prompts beforehand for each of these days. At the time of giving the prompts to the participants, we will run a machine to choose one randomly out of the 4. So even the mods don't know what the actual prompt is going to be for the day.

Now, here's the challenge (and probably my favorite part about the event) -- The prompts you get are not exclusively going to be in accordance with the themes for each day.

For example, you can definitely get this for Angst Mondays :

Prompt : "Levi having to rescue Hange from a pack of kittens/puppies."

Now its up to you, with the power of levihan on your side, to write an angsty drabble based on this prompt, (okay fine, the prompts probably won't be this off bat but still)

**Exception, : for trope Tuesdays, you won't be getting a prompt but a particular trope like (enemies to lovers, protective levi, caring hange etc)

▶ What time will you exactly get the prompt then? So basically, if Levihan drabble week begins on Tuesday, 25th May, you will getting your trope (prompt for the other days) around Monday afternoon-ish. And you are allowed to post until Tuesday midnight, before Wednesday begins. (Wednesday and Thursday are contest days which we will talk about later, so you don't have to worry about getting another prompt on Tuesday and finishing it on Wednesday itself)

▶How will you get your prompt? And any other details? We'll be making another post later where we will dive deep into the timezone specifics and how you will get the prompt, and what you will tag your posts with so we can see your stuff and reblog it.

You will get the prompt for fluff Friday around Thursday afternoon, and then the writers will have a break as Saturday is for artists. Friday night, you will get the prompt for smut Sunday you will have Saturday as a break in between before posting your smut on Sunday.

The same formula applies to angst Mondays.

1st June, Tuesday, last day of the week will be the prize day. We are gonna talk about the prize day in the next section.

Wednesday and Thursdays (The contest days)

So, first of all, this is optional. If you are participating in the rest of the drabble week, its okay if you leave to opt out of the contest. Similarly, you can also just participate in the contest and not do the other days. It's up to you.

The people participating in the contest would be divided into two groups. There are going to be two winners.

Suppose we have group 1 and group 2, a random participant from each group will be chosen. This chosen participant is called the selector. Its purely luck and a machine that chooses the selector. The selector gets to choose a prompt (from a list the mods will give them) Suppose the said selector is from group 1, then the prompt they chose will be given to group two, and everyone in group two have to write on that. The selector from group two will do the same thing for group 1 members.

All of the preparation for the contest will be done beforehand, and the selectors will be informed before the week begins. The selected prompts will be given to both groups Tuesday night. By Thursday evening their works should be posted.

The word limit for Contest Drabbles can be extended to 3000 words. This is ONLY for the contest.

After all works are submitted by Thursday evening, there will be a voting period which will stretch till 1st June, Tuesday. During this period, group 1 will read group 2's stuff, and group 2 will do the same for group 1. Then they will vote for their favorite fics accordingly, the fic with the maximum votes from both groups wins. The mods will be supervising this, and reading the stuff too.

▶How do we vote? All the details related to voting will also be explained in a different post.

▶What are the awards? Okay, so one thing unique about drabble week is that there are going to be no permanent mods. We will probably have these events rather frequently, and the mods will change for each event. The mods will decide the awards so different awards for different months.

Beta reading for a few (3-4 chapters) for any fic the winner wants (the other details can be discussed in dms)

He'd want for their children to come back home straight from school while Gaeul would let them hang out with their friends. They'd have to find a good balance for everyone to be happy, but I'm not really worried about that. They always work things out one way or another.

Who remembers to pack the lunch(es)? - Saying Gaeul would be a cliché but I genuinely believe that she enjoys packing lunches for their children.

Who is the more loved parent? - Eyyy, I don't like this question. There's no differences! Both are loved equally and both love their children equally.

Who is more likely to attend the PTA meetings? Gaeul, because Teddy doesn't have the patience to deal with teachers after that one time he almost punched one, hahaha.

Who cried the most at graduation? - Gaeul, she's an emotional mom to see her children grow up.

Who is more likely to bail the child(ren) out of trouble with the law? - Both, Gaeul can be very convincing and Teddy will just stare down at their children wordlessly lmao.

Cooking:

Who does the most cooking? - While Teddy's skills get better over the years, it's still Gaeul who cooks the most.

Who is the most picky in their food choice? - I don't think either are picky.

Who does the grocery shopping? - They go together because it's a moment they surprisingly like to share, no matter how tired or lazy they might be.

How often do they bake desserts? - Gaeul likes to experiment in the kitchen, especially once they have children, so she'd bake desserts at least twice a month, if not more as she gets better!

Are they more of a meat lover or a salad eater? - Meat lovers.

Who is more likely to surprise the other(s) with an anniversary dinner? - At first it would be Gaeul but I feel like Teddy would get better at making such surprises as well. Even if he doesn't cook much, he'd be able to come up with a simple pasta dish, or something not too complicated just because he knows that it'll make her happy.

Who is more likely to suggest going out? - Gaeul!

Who is more likely to burn the house down accidently while cooking? - That'd be probably Teddy for a while? Or even Gaeul if she gets too distracted and forgets she had something cooking in the oven.

Chores:

Who cleans the room? - Teddy because Gaeul tends to be a little all over the place with all of her books and then with kids toys

Who is really against chores? - None of them, they're pretty okay with chores

Who cleans up after the pets? - Gaeul, since they're hers to begin with, so they're her responsibility.

Who is more likely to sweep everything under the rug? - Gaeul, when she's feeling very lazy but then Teddy would stare at her until she's properly cleaning up.

Who stresses the most when guests are coming over? - It honestly depends of who's visiting them.

Who found a dollar between the couch cushions while cleaning? - Gaeul and then she'd say something like, "I forgot I put that one here", haha.

Misc:

Who takes the longer showers/baths? - Gaeul has always enjoyed relaxing in warm bubble baths so it's definitely her. And if Teddy joins her, it lasts even longer.

Who takes the dog out for a walk? - They don't have a dog but if they did, probably Teddy.

How often do they decorate the room/house for the holidays? - Gaeul loves holidays so she decorates the house each single time!

What are their goals for the relationship? - They just want to be happy together and have a happy family and make sure that their children know that they're wanted and loved and cherished.

Who is most likely to sleep till noon? - Before they become parents, both could have such mornings where they slept until noon. And after becoming parents, they took turns until the kids were old enough to take care of themselves.

Beckett is Beckett. Sergio is my original Malkavian ghoul character. You can read about them in my fanfic series, A Kinder Universe. Sergio first briefly appears in “Bad Idea” is the star of “First Date,” and pops up again in “Bonpensiero Bloodline Remix.”

Quick n’ dirty: Sergio is a former Prince of Sicilian Mafia, who faked their death and became an Los Angeles fashion designer and ghoul to a Malkavian. Sergio uses he/they pronouns.

DISAGREEMENTS.

Who is more likely to raise their voice?

Sergio. I kinda picture them as Dante’s Inferno with their temper. They run very hot, but their truest, purest anger is ice cold. That’s when bodies start dropping.

Who threatens to leave but never actually does?

I think it’s probably about even. It’s more of a “Maybe I should leave you be” sort of vibe. Both of them can recognize when it’s time to take a step back and cool off. Sergio would still let loose a couple invectives before leaving. Beckett more bottles it all up.

Who actually keeps their word and leaves?

Unless it’s a case of “I’m going to do a suicide mission so you don’t have to,” neither would actually leave the relationship. But they’re both independent spirits in a loose polycule, so there are periods where they’re not together. Sometimes Sergio doesn’t want to go places. For example, Liberteria is awesome, but it’s a chock full of blood-hungry, stinky Brujah, so Sergio would rather stay in Casablanca and party. Sometimes Sergio wants to focus on a different relationship, such as them and Cesare. Sometimes the projects one of them embarks on are of an extremely personal nature, so space is granted. Example: Sergio has no clue that Beckett is paying off that Giovanni scumbag to not hurt Emma’s ghost. Only Anatole has one inkling about that.

Who trashes the house?

Sergio. Listen! The mess is part of the creative process! They’re designing the next big sensation in fashion! It will be the talk of Paris! Please don’t touch the fucking scissors; they’re the only decent sharp ones. I KNOW they’re in a slipper, but that is the only place for them.

I assume this means during an argument? Sergio has a bad(?) habit of kissing Beckett to prove a point, or encourage him to agree.

How often do they argue/disagree?

I feel I’m being terribly boring here. A normal couple amount?? They’re both adults. They hash things out. A hot button topic would be safety. On a dare, Sergio will rush in where angels fear to tread. Beckett disapproves when Sergio breaks into places without telling him beforehand. But it was easy as pie! They turned invisible, picked the locks, decapitated some patriarchs, and whallah, they have the artifact he wanted! Stop looking at them like that, you know we will be out of the country before those wraiths can snitch. Also: I took their fetters.

Another hot button would be their mutual stubbornness. Sergio will insist they have the best idea. Beckett will think he’s right. They butt heads, and Sergio’s not above playing dirty, which is a whole other problem.

Beckett would land in hot water with Sergio if he kept his heart closed off. Sergio is all about openness and feeling one’s feelings.

Sergio. They are like EMOTIONS. Beckett is like “My plan is I will keep all my emotions locked in my chest, and, eventually, I’ll die.” Sergio is overt. Beckett is covert.

.It’s pretty strange that a Kindred of Beckett’s age is into sex at all, but it’s my AU and I do what I want. In my world, he’s a touch starved disaster.

Who’s dominant in bed?

Sergio. They’re the dom, and it’s a reward to touch them.

Sergio is a stone bisexual, which means they don’t like to be penetrated or have their genitals touched at all. I did this partly because I’m wary of writing a scene that depicts Sergio’s junk. An enby reader who identifies with Sergio might read that they have ABC, and the presence of ABC might trigger gender dysphoria. I want those readers to keep however they picture Sergio in their head. Overall, I also don’t like the cis reader tendency to await for an enby character’s genital reveal, in order to figure out “what they are really.” As if genitals had anything to do with gender.

I created Sergio because a)there needs to be more enby characters in Vampire and b)I need practice writing enby characters. I’m not nonbinary so I KNOW I’m going to mess something up. Nature of the game. There are plenty of strategies for writing sex with a nonbinary partner, but I’m not confident in my ability to do so as of yet. So, for the moment, Sergio keeps their pants on and orders Beckett around.

Is head ever in the equation?

Yes! Sergio will lick Beckett like a lollipop.

Sergio, haha. They spent a long chunk of their life living loose and fast in Hollywood.

Hmm...probably depends on what they’re doing. I think it would average out to about an hour? Maybe two hours? Four hours at the longest. 10 minutes at shortest.

Now that I think about it...that’s probably a good idea. They don’t have to worry about pregnancy, but STIs are a pain. The AIDS crisis is freaking dicey and utterly terrifying.

No. It becomes familiar. Comforting and warm. As easy to slip into as a daydream.

Where is the strangest place they’d have sex?

I haven’t written any strange places yet. Making out in an open alley during the 1940s was certainly dangerous. End of the world or no.

FAMILY.

Do they plan on having children/or have children?

Nope. Sergio isn’t interested in acquiring children, and Beckett wrote off having children long ago. Sergio is happy to be the immortal cousin to the Garcia family. The Garcia’s are a human family their regnant, Cassandra, takes care of.

Sergio knows how to care for a child, in the casual way one acquires when living under the same roof as one. To Beckett, children are more foreign, and he’s extremely worried that he’ll accidentally hurt them. That being said, put a baby in his hands and, after the initial nerves pass, he absolutely melts.

Beckett has a God-ordained sleep schedule, so moon’s out, Beckett’s out. Sergio is variable. They have depression, so sometimes they’re asleep like 12 to 16 hours a day. Other times, when their brain is providing the serotonin, Sergio will push themself to stay up at all hours. During “First Date,” Sergio is awake all day doing work and stays up all night to smooch Beckett.

Can sleeping pills be found by the bedside?

Beckett has picked Sergio up, laid them on the bed, and squished them until they fell asleep. That’s all the help to snooze Sergio needs.

Do they wrap their limbs around each other or just lay side by side?

Like I said above, they’ll wrap around each other for a bit, but eventually straighten out and just lay beside each other.

Who wakes up with bed hair?

Both! Beckett more.

Who wakes up first?

Sergio, most like. Being an Elder, Beckett usually wakes up an hour or two after sunset.

You didn't do it on purpose. You really didn't. You thought you were sending it to your mom, a photo of you and Shawn smiling wide and bright with the beautiful view of Croatia behind you, his cheek pressed up against yours as he hugs you from behind, the two of you glowing under the rays of the sun as the wind blows past your guys' hairs, his curls going everywhere though it made him look even more endearing.

You really thought you were just sending an innoncent picture, to let your mom see that you're finally happy and content with a man you're head over heels for, but much to your dismay with a wrong tap on the screen, you ended up posting it on your story instead.

It was a solid 15 minutes before you realized what you just did, a look of horror on your face once you received an angry text from Shawn.

iMessage from Shawn:Why the fuck did you just post that? And out of nowhere? What the fuck is this (Y/N)?

You were confused and shocked at first but you felt your stomach drop as you opened up Instagram to see people tagging you on that same picture, from fan accounts of his to be exact. You didn't know how some of them managed to get hold of it since Shawn doesn't even follow you and you didn't even tag him, but these fans, they really do have their ways.

Sure it wouldn't have been such a big deal but you hadn't gone public yet. You and Shawn kept your relationship a secret for 9 months now, no public photo of you being together, Shawn always saying that he's single every time someone asks and in every single interview, a publicity thing that you aren't exactly happy about but still, you understood. There was no hint that he was seeing someone at all, up until now.

You tried to tell Shawn that you didn't do it on purpose, but he only responded with a text saying that you'll talk when he gets back from the studio, hence why you're sitting on the couch, mind and heart racing as you waited for him to come home, not really sure what's going to happen once he does.

"What the fuck were you thinking?!" Shawn's voice startled you along with the front door slamming hard. You were quick on your feet as you faced your fuming boyfriend with a deep frown.

"Shawn I didn't mean to–"

"Didn't mean to post it? You left it up for so long (Y/N)! You didn't take it down up until I texted you and you're saying you didn't do it on purpose?" Shawn was beyond pissed at this point. One, because you two were suppose to decide when to go public together and two, management made it very clear that he stays single being that he has a project with Camila coming soon and this just ruined the whole thing, marketing, publicity and all.

"Shawn I swear it was just an accident. I was going to–"

"Accident? You happen to post this just a day after I posted that promo video with Camila? Are you sure this was just an accident (Y/N) or are just being jealous and petty?"

You blinked at his words, mouth pressed tightly into a thin line as you tried to comprehend why he is now using that against you. Shawn knew about your insecurities, he knew how bad you felt about yourself just seeing the stuff online with him getting paired with all these different models, and Camila most of it all. But never did you ever get petty about it, you just brushed it off saying that it wasn't a big of deal because he was your just as you were his, even if sometimes it takes a toll on you, given the fact that you're a secret to his world.

"I didn't do it because I was jealous Shawn." You muttered, eyes staring straight into his, feeling all numb all of the sudden as his intense glare left you unfazed.

Your solemn expression seemed to edge Shawn more as he ran a frustrated hand through his hair, taking a step closer as he growled deeply. "Then why did you do it exactly? You did this to seek attention didn't you? Tell me the fucking truth (Y/N), you're just using me for my fame aren't you?"

That made you take a step back as you felt the air getting knocked out of you.

"How could you ask me that?" Your voice was laced with pure pain, eyes now brimming with tears as you looked at him dumbfounded. It was one thing to accuse you of being petty and jealous, but it was on a whole other level to accuse you of using him for his fame, like some selfish gold digger.

The sound of your voice and the look in your eyes made Shawn's anger left his body in a split second. The scowl on his face disappearing completely, now replaced by a deep frown as he watched you stare at him with a look of utter betrayal written on your face.

"Honey I didn't mean–"

"I was going to send it to mom. To let her see that I was finally happy, so happy to have you in my life. That I finally felt content with myself just being with you. I was telling her about you, how I may have finally found the one. Then she gushed about how happy she is that I finally found true happiness and asked if I could send her a photo of us, so I did. I thought I did but I think you know what happened. Now you think I'm just here for your fame and money. If so, then I guess I failed to show you just how much you mean to me and I never made you feel loved in the first place." You finished off just as a tear slipped out of your eyes, your voice breaking at the end and this made Shawn's guilt swallow him whole.

If only he just took a moment to calm down and listen, you wouldn't have ended up getting hurt. But Shawn's an idiot, of course he lets his anger cloud his mind, and now he has to deal with the consequences.

"(Y/N), I'm sorry I–"

You shook your head, eyes falling shut as you let out a shaky breath. "If that's what you think of me then maybe it's best if I just leave."

Shawn eyes widened as he shook his head frantically, taking long strides until he was in front of you, taking your hands in his quickly as if he’s scared you’ll be gone if he moves too late. You let him hold you since you've never had the strength to push him away, and you really don’t want too since his touch felt so warm that you never want him to let go.

"No, honey please don't leave. I'm sorry, I should've given you the chance to explain and God I'm such an asshole. I don't think of you that way, you are the most selfless person I know and fuck, I let my anger control me and I'm such an idiot. Angel I'm so sorry." Shawn rambled, hand squeezing yours as he looks down at you with so much regret, pleading brown orbs staring straight into yours.

You let out a soft sigh and a small nod, squeezing his hand in return. "It was just an accident. I didn't post it to get attention I swear." Your voice was soft, your bottom lip trembling as you looked up at him with teary eyes, and this made Shawn heart sink.

"I know honey, I know. And I should've believed you the first time but I was so stressed at the studio and it shocked me when I saw that, then Andrew was stepping on my neck and my mind just jumped into conclusions and my anger got the best of me. But still, it's my fault, no excuses, it's my fault for not listening to you and I'm so sorry my love." You only nodded in response, making Shawn sigh as he pulled you closer and engulfed you in a warm embrace.

He pressed his lips on top of your head as you let him hold you, a comforting feeling spreading through your whole body as he rocked you gently from side to side. "I'm sorry for what I said honey. That was nowhere near the truth. You are amazing and you make me feel so happy and loved, you've never failed at that and you never will"

"It's okay." You whispered, pulling away slightly so you can look at him in the eyes. Shawn cupped your cheek as he dipped his head down, giving you a soft peck on the lips before pulling back again with that charming smile of his.

"How about I run you a bath my love?" You hummed in agreement. "I'll come and get you when it's ready honey." Shawn gave you one more kiss before disappearing down the hallway. But just as you say down the couch a few moment later, your phone buzzed.

You couldn't stop the smile on your face from widening as you stared at the photo. It was taken not too long ago by Connor, neither of you knowing during the moment that the boy actually snapped this photo of you two, making it more real and authentic.

But what made it even more special was that this was the exact moment Shawn first told you he loved you, and you telling him you love him just as much. The smiles on your faces were wide as he couldn't stop himself from pulling you in for a kiss, ignoring the teasing howls from the group. That was one of best and cutest moment in your life for sure.

Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another): aside from magnus and abigail, who both needed WAY more screen time?? i would say dr rockso in a sense. he was sort of that kooky rascal you wave your finger at when he gets in trouble, and then they had to go and do the whole dory mclean thing. and i get the point of the episode, but after that i wasn’t rooting for rockso anymore and he kinda became more of this sinister kinda figure? i dunno. i think that whole angle could’ve been done away with and it would’ve been a lot better. also him trying to fucking drown toki in the christmas episode. 8( ouch, man.

When I started shipping them: WELL....okay so i actually just went back and looked at my old deviantart account and the first drawing i did of them (yes i’m linking to 14-year-old art pls don’t judge me) was on Oct. 18, 2006, so like...the dethfam episode hadn’t even aired yet. god damn. there was someone in the sausage festival livejournal community who had drawn the two of them, and then i fucking went ravenous for it real quick and it became like the only thing i drew for months hahaha. i had been nickles up until then. :O

My thoughts: MY THOUGHTS??? this is so vague. i have many thoughts. uh, for one? they’re perfect together? the straight-laced workaholic and the lazy degenerate? yes please, gimme. they’re like yin and yang, opposites attracting. and yet i feel like, once they get past that, they realize they’re both so similar at their cores. and pickles helps charles loosen up, and charles gives pickles some structure. they both give each other someone to lean on when shit gets bad. pickles can be a surprisingly good caretaker when he wants to be. :’)

What makes me happy about them: everything?? i really don’t know how to adequately describe just how much i love them and just how much that means hahah... you ever ship something for 14 years?? i know some of y’all have. it gets in your blood. that’s like over a third of my life right there. not to be dramatic or anything hahaha but they’re important to me. that ship helped get me through some rough months back when i lived alone in a crappy apartment, and it’s hilarious to me that i’m getting back into it hardcore like i was back then considering everything that’s going on right now, just current events-wise and personal stuff-wise.

What makes me sad about them: god damn, anything about those 9 months charles spent “dead”. anything post-doomstar. anything snakes ‘n barrels where they’re together for a short time and then never see each other until charles becomes dethklok’s manager. pickles pining after him for like a decade after the band forms. or charles pining, having to watch pickles party and do drunks and sleep around. or BOTH of them pining and not realizing it, or REALIZING IT and not acting on it because what if it hurt the band somehow? maybe charles wouldn’t want to jeopardize it but pickles would be okay with it, and charles would have to be the one to say no. ahhhhhhhHHHHHH

Things done in fanfic that annoys me: oof, i agree with you here, Ash. i’ve read a couple fics where, like, the bdsm aspect wasn’t even fun. i probably know the exact fic that left a bad taste in your mouth because there’s one specific one i’m thinking of that left a bad taste in mine (actually two...). like i had to actually get up from the computer and go do dishes hahah... uck. but yeah. don’t like charles being abusive to pickles. i think pickles does like some punishment from time to time, and he definitely has some daddy issues. but i don’t want it to get fucking sinister haha y’know? pickles, at his heart, is a good-times guy. he likes good feelings. he wants to feel nice. and charles, at HIS heart, is all about service.

Things I look for in fanfic: are they in love or just hooking up?? i mean i’ll take either at the end of the day, but i’m a romantic and i need the love, i crave it.

My wishlist: give to me all the fics about snakes n’ barrels chickles. how i haven’t written one baffles me (though i did have that huge plot write-up from months back haha...i should turn that into a real fic sometime). would also love a huge fic about their marriage, complete with canon-typical buffoonery. fics about them retiring together. ;0; fics about them just having nice peaceful moments. literally just.....any fic haha...

My happily ever after for them: after galaktikon II, dethklok has kinda run its course. the band uses their near-infinite resources to help rebuild the earth. shortly after, it’s pickles who proposes in a surprising turn of events. shaken after the battle, he doesn’t wanna waste any more time. they get married barefoot on the beach probably in like fiji or something (pickles’ idea) with friends and family present (the okay ones haha, also magnus is there with toki because this is my dream, damnit). pickles has white flowers in his dreads in lieu of a bouquet. T~T everything goes well, no one crashes the wedding. they have a lovely honeymoon there when everyone else leaves. pickles says he’s decided to retire from music, but it’s not long before he’s working feverishly on new music in the home studio at their new place. some real expansive stuff. he’s kinda doing it as a weird therapy, coming to terms with some stuff. he never gets clean but he’s not using drugs and alcohol as a band-aid for his problems quite so much anymore. charles retires from managing bands (he doesn’t have the heart for it if it’s not dethklok) and ends up doing the adjunct professor thing whenever he gets bored. but he practices guitar a lot, pickles teaching him some advanced stuff, they jam together sometimes. he takes up sailing because it’s something he’s always wanted to do but never had time for. after pickles releases his first solo album, charles takes him on a long, romantic sailing trip. everything is perfect, everything’s gonna be good forever. 8′) forever. the end.

Glee Memories: 1x10 Ballad

A long, long time ago, as Glee was approaching graduation in Season 3, I found myself nostalgic with some rare free time on my hands. So I decided to rewatch the series from the beginning and jot down some memories, discrepancies that have arisen since, fave quotes, tally solos - all that good stuff, strictly for shits and giggles.

8 years later (eek!) and once more I find myself with an unexpected abundance of free time. With so many revisiting or being newly introduced to the show between binge watching during Quarantine and all the tragedy that has surrounded the show since it went off the air, I figured I’d finish what I started. And by finish, I mean go through the end of S3. Cause I truly cannot acknowledge what happened after that. Except for 5B.

They're both pretty lovey, but Maxwell is definitely more publicly affectionate. Erin is not big on PDA.

Erin usually sleeps on his chest, but if they do spoon they switch it up. Everybody likes to be held sometimes. 🤗

3.) Most common argument?

Definitely family related. Erin hates living at the estate with Bertrand and Savannah. She almost has him convinced to move. 🤞🏻

4.) Favorite non-sexual activity?

They love sightseeing, going to zoo's, aquarium's, museum's, trying little hole in the wall restaurants. 

5.) Who is most likely to carry the other?

Max will always carry her. Always. He loves it, she loves it, it's a win-win.

Max loves her hands, they're so tiny compared to his and he loves to compare them and kiss her fingertips or knuckles. He also loves her ass.

Hands down Maxwell. He is such a people pleaser and he worries constantly. Erin, not so much. She reassures him that he's amazing and fuck those people who think otherwise.

Max! She acts like she's trying to decide but he already knows, she almost always gets the same dishes.

There's another switch role! They both love it, both ways, so why limit it to one or the other. 😉

They both do in different ways. Erin will stop abruptly and pucker her lips, waiting for him to notice she stopped walking and come back to kiss her. Max will wrap his arms around her waist and haul her up to give her a quick smooch before lowering her back down. Usually followed by a "you're so cute/mean" depending on what attitude she is throwing. lol

Erin. She gets self conscious and nervous in crowds, and crowds is where Maxwell thrives. So she always reaches out for him to ground her.

Maxwell! He has a thing about walls, and pushing her up against them. He can get pretty dominant.

A lot of times it's Maxwell, but she does beat him to it occasionally. Erin loves to stick notes in his lunch or anywhere he will find it really. "My husband is a hottie" "Nice ass" "I love you most" are a few that she's left around.

Maxwell did, Erin was a bit worried what her family would think. But they took it quite well once she did tell them.

Maxwell's family...hates everything. We all know this. But she's kind of grown on Bertrand. Although she's still ready to move.

Erin's family adores Max! They are so happy that she's so happy now, and acting more like her old self.

1. How did you two meet? Lyra: Such a long story. But the abridged version is my twin sister spotted Bob at the local gym and encouraged me to “get in there” she was quick to point out she was tempted to scoop him up for herself... 

Bob: I remember Kyleigh from the gym she pretty much set me and Lyra up on a date together. And boy when she did, was I ever pleased! It really didn’t take me long to fall in love with her... not long at all.

2. Who is the most jealous of you two? Bob: Lyra.

Lyra: No! I don’t do jealousy Bob.

Bob: Really?

Lyra: Only where my twin sister was concerned she said from day 1 she always wanted you!

3. What are your three favourite physical things about your partner? Lyra: Physical, 3 things... ok, well... I love his legs, Bob has an amazing pair of legs. I like his eyes, I always liked his eyes. And of course I love how tall he is. 

Bob: I could talk forever about this, I love her hair, I love her eyes, I love her hands, I love her boobs, I love her bum, I love her broad hips. Oh, yeah that’s more than three... right, well, Boobs, 100% boobs. I am unashamedly typical man on this. Her hands I love too, they are just so effeminate and I love to hold them in mine, and her hair, I could just sit and play with her hair all day.

Lyra: But! But! In my defence, I am a mom so I am running late, because I am doing EVERYTHING else. 

Bob: Everything else? Really, come on I do a lot of stuff.

Bob: Well I don’t take 3 hours to get ready for things.

Lyra: Such a lie! Honestly, don’t listen to this, he easily spends that long putting Brylcreem in his hair and coiffing it ‘just so’ before we go anywhere.

Bob: Well, another reason is sometimes the more I help the more I just seem to get in the way.  

Lyra: That is very true actually.

5. Who is the most organised and who is the messiest? Bob: I couldn’t say I am organised really, I don’t really do organisation I just do what needs to be done. But I wouldn’t consider myself messy... Would that be fair to say?

Lyra: I think so. I would say I am messier, I used to write books and I’d love to do it again to be honest, but, when I am writing my desk is a mess anyway. But, I do know where everything is. Organised chaos maybe? But I keep the house neat and tidy, I can’t do filthy surfaces and so on.

6. Who is the bigger flirt? (flirts the most?) Lyra: That’s a tough question... do we even really flirt?

Bob: Not anymore, trouble is, at our stage of marriage you really haven’t got the time for flirting you just have to get started with whatever it is you want to start while you have a chance... that is, when there are no kids about.

Lyra: Back in the day I think you flirted with me more though. But I would say I was more romantic.

Bob: Definitely. You did the whole romantic nights very very well. 

7. Who does the most cooking?                                                                  Lyra: Me. Hands down. Bob has never really cooked have you?

Bob: Not much at all. I can do the basics but if we want something nice and well made then Lyra 100% has to do it.

Lyra: Its true. I don’t mind though I really enjoy cooking and if you want to be a food critic then, I kinda think you have to be able to put your money where your mouth is so to speak. Its no good going into a restaurant and criticising the shit out of somebody’s Lasagne, if you couldn’t do it any better yourself. That makes you a hypocrite, to be able to critique others, I firmly believe you have to be able to do the task yourself.

8. How do you feel about kids and do you want them? If so how many?

Bob: Well I love kids. But I couldn’t eat a whole one.

Lyra: Bob!

She playfully nudges him with her elbow. There is however a look of pain on both their faces.

Bob: All jokes aside, we have... had... 5 kids and yeah we’re happy. I had... uh, twins a boy and a girl from a... previous relationship... and sadly we lost Jennifer.

Lyra puts her hand supportively on top of Bob’s and he gives it a good squeeze.

Lyra: It was a difficult time, for both of us, I thought of them as my own.

9. Who wears the pants in the relationship? Bob: I’m in charge, and I have her permission to say so.

Lyra laughs.

Lyra: I don’t know who wears the pants more, I think we take turns on certain things. We try to be 50/50 about it as much as possible. Sometimes I make the decisions, other times he does... varies from day to day, but yeah... Im in charge. 

10. What’s your partner’s least favourite housework task? Bob has to sit and think about this there is a long pause.

Bob: This is a trick question really, because Lyra actually loves cleaning and stuff. She finds it therapeutic.

Lyra nods agreement.

Bob: Least favourite housework task... uh... I honestly don’t know what her least favourite housework task is. Maybe doing the laundry?

Lyra: So sexist... I don’t mind the Laundry, I think my least favourite is clearing out the fridge... so laborious. As for Bob’s least favourite housework task? I don’t know either, because he doesn’t do any!

Bob: I take the trash out! And I fix broken stuff.

Lyra: You moan about the trash every week, probably that’s your least favourite.

11. What was the first thing you noticed about each other? Bob: I think the first thing I noticed about Lyra was that, bearing in mind I had already seen her identical twin... is that Lyra had a kinder look on her face, a friendlier face, if that makes sense? Also, boobs, she has amazing boobs.

Lyra: I think the first thing I noticed was literally that Bob is rather tall. Also he looked like somebody who was a military man.

12. What does your partner do that pisses you off? Lyra: Um... I don’t think there is anything Bob does that pisses me off. He does a number of things that irritate me though, like, not putting the lid back on the toothpaste, leaving his laundry here and there round the house. Nothing that outright pisses me off.

Bob: Same kind of thing, though Lyra’s smoking can be annoying sometimes she smoked from age 15 to 19 and she’s relapsed loads of times during our marriage.

Lyra: I haven’t! Only three times. 

Bob:  “only?” and three times my foot!

Lyra: It was three times! There was that time we had a fight after Barry Needzek and Kyleigh split up, I was what... 22, and I smoked for about 6 months then quit. The next time was when my mother resurfaced that was at 30... took me a year and bit to quit then, and finally now at 39. So I can easily go 7 to 9 years without smoking! 

Bob just laughs.

Bob: I stand corrected! But uh yeah, I don’t think marriages work out if you piss each other off, you can irk one another but thats a step too far.

13. Where’s the craziest/weirdest place you’ve ever had sex? They look at each other a moment.

Bob: Sorry, that’s classified. 

Lyra nods agreement.

Lyra: He’s not joking either. It literally is classified.

14. Do you know your partner’s love language, if yes what is it? Lyra: Bob’s very physical in terms of his love language, he needs a kiss and a cuddle don’t you?

Bob: I do. I think most men would probably be on this language somewhere, I need to feel loved and desired, and to receive physical touch is very important to me.

Lyra: You like it when I do stuff for you as well. 

Bob: So I think Lyra’s main language is the whole quality time aspect, you like it when we do things together, and we haven’t been on a date in... well I can’t even think the last time me and you did something together, we’ll have to rectify that as soon as possible! I also feel that you appreciate compliments and being told that you’re the most important person in my life. I can look you in the face and mean every word too.

15. Where do you see the 2 of you in 10 years? Bob *shrugging*: Don’t know! All I care about is that we’re together and still happy and our children are all happy and well. 

Lyra: Same. Though I wouldn’t mind a nice vacation hopefully before 10 years later....

Ooo another one: Athena and to some extent, V

(For context, this is about this character Q&A challenge thing that I reblogged back when series 3 was airing!)

WOW OKAY so I was just thinking to myself that it was weird that I couldn’t remember what I’d written about V for this, because I wanted to compare if I still felt the same about her after the finale episode, and Lo and behold (haha, see what I did there) I find that I actually never finished answering, which is why I couldn’t remember what I’d said!

(I know, I know, reading that was tiring, but imagine having to BE me)

Looking back now it’s super unfortunate that I didn’t write the V section when this ask first came in, because it would have been an interesting comparison… but I think I was felled by not having much V content to go on, before 3.8, whereas now I can talk at much more length!

I had, however, finished the Athena section, so here you go, this is what I had already in the draft:

First, Athena:

• Do I like them? Yes, she’s a brilliant character!

• 5 good qualities: She’s SO SMART, oh my life, major brain crush. She uses her intelligence in a way she considers ‘pure’, despite the more lucrative options that are open to her, so she has a strong moral code in a climate ruled by selfish gain. She’s motivated by her love for her daughter, which defies all odds and succeeds in pioneering an entirely new scientific field - what an icon! She takes crap from exactly NOBODY and is sassy as hell in the process. And she’s willing to help Karen, for which she’ll always have a special place in my heart.

• 3 bad qualities: She wasn’t exactly quick to accept synth consciousness, umm, so she killed a bunch of them pretty callously. Like Ed, she was able to convince herself they weren’t really people long enough to serve her own purposes, so that’s… I’m less keen on that. Umm.. she can be a little brusque, I didn’t particularly like her scene with poor Helen Aveling, who was another lady in science trying her best! No need to put her down! I guess from a narrative perspective, I could say that Athena is a little superfluous, especially since she doesn’t seem to be coming back. We’ll count that! Lots of her harder, colder edges are due to her grief so I can’t really find it in me to pin them as ‘bad’. Have I mentioned, this show does amazingly with its characters, particularly its women?!

• Favourite episode: 2.8 was the goodbye to V, right? Ugh, heartbreaking.

• OTP: … this is kind of out of the blue but I could see her and Laura, mayhaps? Certainly there aren’t any human men left alive in the show who could hold a candle to her. Oh, but how interesting if she and Neil Sommer had dated in the past. Heh heh heh.

• BrOTP: Well, I’m so glad that she’s got Karen’s brain scans, so that she can recreate her perfectly and they can love and support one another!

• OT3: Athena & V & a weekly lunch date where V shows up on her tablet screen and checks in with what she’s been doing/how many synths she’s resurrected in her Mind Meadow.

• NOTP: Athena and her kind of boring husband, what was his name? One of those unisex names? I want it to begin with L? Oh well.

• Best quote: “Nothing really bad has ever happened to you, has it? Because when it does, you don’t need reminders about your insignificance to the universe.” I’m quoting from memory so it might not be the exact wording. Amazing line, anyway.

• Head canon: I like to think that Athena did, in fact, have something to do with Leo’s early treatment. I mean, Max isn’t even with him when it happens, so at some point the Elster sibs must have pooled resources and talked about what was going to happen with him. (They probably moped about their literal surgeon brother not being there too). Anyway, somehow they found Athena and she did some salvaging (having also recently practiced with Pete when she uploaded his consciousness, pending upload to a new body) and later handed over to Anatole. Basically my headcanon is that nobody has really died in this show since Athena and V were introduced. Athena knows how to save human minds and V can grab the synths. Sorted.

Now V! The only one I had previously answered was this:

• Do I like them? Yes, bless her digital cotton socks!

Although now I might slightly rephrase that in favour of:

•Do I like them? I think so! But in the words of George Millican, she worries me! Moving on to the rest of the questions…..

• 5 good qualities: She cares about others, and is benevolent towards the synths even though she is a separate species in and of herself, with a less defined concept of “them” and “us”. Where she can, she acts to relieve suffering (giving Odi the rest he wanted, even if we’d rather she hadn’t). She’s resourceful. She’s developing/has developed a strong sense of herself and her chosen role, which is lovely to see as growth since her confusion in series 2. Aaaand, she recognises Niska’s worth and potential (even if… well, see next part).

• 3 bad qualities: She’s not too bothered about Niska’s personal agency, and would rather focus on convincing her to carry out her will. Speaking of her will, she does seem to think her way and ONLY her way is the right way for both organic and synthetic humanity - and while she might be the best disposed to predict future events, having access to the entire world’s knowledge etc…. that still doesn’t make her Actually Omniscient, I’m sorry. Whatever she thinks. And for a third, hmm, maybe she was a little harsh to leave her mother all of a sudden, but for all we know they’re back in contact now?

• Favourite episode: whichever one it was in series 2 where she starts to piece together who she was but refers to Ginny as ‘she’ rather than ‘I’ - that was so powerful and chilling.

• OTP: I’ve never thought about an OTP for V, ha. Hmm, not in the romantic sense, but I think she and Niska COULD be a winning combination, if nothing goes to awry in s4, but I am on standby for Niska having to stand against her at some point and take her down in some epic, badass way. So, since the age of like 14, my favourite book has been Speaker for the Dead, which is basically about future humanity trying to peacefully coexist with a new alien race, centuries after they wiped out the first alien race they encountered. The main character, Ender, is friends with an artificial superintelligence called Jane, who like V, has access to every piece of information on every computer, can process billions of thoughts at once, keeps her existence a secret from most of the human race, and can appear as whatever image she likes on a screen. (Unlike V, she grew out of a computer game rather than being a transferred human consciousness). Aaaanyway. In the book and its sequels Jane shows an interest in helping humanity & the aliens to understand and accept each other, and partly it is because she’s just a sweetheart, but partly, too, it’s because she hopes that if humans can understand the Pequeninos, who have physical bodies, as they do, but are fundamentally different from them in many ways… if they can learn to live with and value this alien race, then maybe one day, Jane hopes, they will also be able to understand and accept her, too, even though she’s not got a physical form and is fundamentally different from them. Sooooo, I immediately loved V in series 2 because she reminded me of Jane and I love Jane, but now with her new role in series 3 I can see even more possible similarities. My headcanon (the point of this entire essay if you’ll remember) is that V’s quest to end conflict between synths and organics is not quite as altruistic as it might seem, but is rather part of a larger plan to gain acceptance for herself. There’s this amazing quote from Speaker, about Jane who, being aware of all the science fiction the human race has come up with, therefore knows how many of us fear the potential of someone like her coming to exist, and how many stories there are about her final destruction. V doubtless knows all the same stories. It’s in her interests to foster an environment of human acceptance of AI consciousness, to set the stage for her own emergence. This is probably a conclusion that is easily drawn without bringing Jane and Speaker into it, but what can I say, I love it when parallels between my favourite things present and deepen themselves. Okay, that’s probably enough of this, hmm?

if you want romantic otps, I guess it’s Ayeka/Ryoko/Tenchi and even then, as I’ve mentioned before, I don’t go nuts for it. It’s just the ship that makes more sense for me. I don’t go nuts for the more popular Ryoko/Tenchi and yet that also makes much more sense than Ayeka/Tenchi -- I think because I see the latter as working better as friends. Ayeka has had such bad luck with romance, I’m just happy somebody who isn’t her direct family LIKES her XD

For the maybefriendsotp-but-we’re-not-really-sure-category, I like the dynamic between Ayeka and Mihoshi. Partly thanks to the lovely @mihoshi-kuramitsu since it’s through our threads that I was able to think deeply about these two, and how Ayeka thinks about Mihoshi. From the OVA we got a glimpse that maybe Ayeka respected her/her reputation/her title as Galaxy Police officer, until she started living with her XD But at the same time, in lots of domestic things, Ayeka never fails to be next to Mihoshi and I like to think it’s through that that Ayeka begins to understand -- or at the very least, see where Mihoshi’s coming from. 

At the same time, lookit episode 7. Their Episode 7 interaction never fails to make me laugh and also cringe a little now as an adult. Ayeka is MEAN when she’s in extreme rival mode. Mean mean MEAN. Poor Mihoshi!

SASAMI AND AYEKA, BEST SISTERS 4EVAH. Urd, Belldandy and Skuld who?

FOR FRIENDOTPS THOUGH -- this is a recent one comparatively, but I love the idea of Umi from Magic Knight Rayearth and Ayeka hanging out. I feel like they’d get together so well, since they’re both from rich families yet pretty subdued in their personal selves. They have quiet chats, or sometimes are just content to be next to each other in their worlds. Oh! And Ayeka could teach Umi how to sew (Umi hates sewing), while Umi can teach Ayeka how to bake (Umi’s an expert baker!) I HAVE LOTS OF OTHER HEADCANONS, I’D JUST HAVE TO REMEMBER THEM AND ALSO THEY’RE CONTEXT/SITUATION-BASED. (Umi would be the tag team partner with Ayeka while fighting. FRIENDLY BANTER ENSUES ♥)

And for a little blog crossover -- ironicaly enough, I think Skuld and Ayeka would be more acquaintances than friends. Ayeka may treat her like the kid that Skuld doesn’t want to be treated as (seeing her like she sees Sasami), and Skuld may see Ayeka as a classy lady, someone like Belldandy, someone to look up to...until she sees Ayeka and Ryoko XD. deja vu, yo. 

I also think Ayeka and Skuld would not interact a lot? Like. They’d be quiet together, to the point of not wanting to get together. (Or get angry and destroy the universe, both have some tempers!) IDK,  their relationship may mirror how Ayeka feels about Washu? Blah.

(For the record, I see Ayeka and Belldandy getting along swimmingly.)

As I said above, I love how Mihoshi and Ayeka have gotten enough development thanks to @mihoshi-kuramitsu. Same goes for @asktenchi -- it’s refreshing to see Tenchi written almost the same way as he is in the Okuda manga, only with more memes sass and “oh god why am I even here why do I do these things????” Tenchi feels real, man. I like that the dynamic between Ayeka and Tenchi gets explored because YEAH they need it.

I love how all the active Ryokos can get something out of Ayeka. The quiet chill and quick liners from @galacticdemon -- the sparse canon and domestic from @spacepirate-ryoko -- and the balls off the wall insanity that is @bringerofdxmons -- they’re all so great and I love that I can have Ayeka reflect on aspects of Ryoko with them <3

I like the banter and general interaction with Nappa! @nappainanotherdimensionI think it’s pretty cool that Ayeka gets to interact with another alien, as it were, who’s not from the Masaki household, and who actually forces her to rethink things. To top it off, his thoughts and (for her, out of the blue) occasional words of support surprise her. Think of it this way: you know what your family thinks about you, so you might not care as much -- but when a friend tells you things, you feel like you exist.

Dandy and Ayeka are best pop-duo 100/10 @pyoniumyankee I gotta get back to our threads, but Ayeka’s learning to keep up with Dandy, let’s just say! 

@invenina never fails to have her muses be fast friends with mine IT’S AN AMAZING ABILITY. Though with Carmilla, Ayeka’s starting to feel more like “the friend that wishes she wasn’t a friend, but would probably still get a froyo* with you.” Ayeka sees Carmilla as a young upstart (haha young geddit) who’s rough but at least is better than Ryoko in the sense that she's not a pathological liar and someone who’s trying. She’s got a young nation-state in Madripoor, Ayeka sorta gets it. 

*I have no idea if froyos are still a thing. I have never tasted one either.

@yunhuntress‘s Fang and Ayeka are so great and full of feels together, that Kat already made a verse for us. It’s such a weird relationship because they’re definitely friends --Ayeka cares for Fang and appreciates her a lot, especially her insights. 2) It’s nice to know Jungkook isn’t the only one who enjoys the occasion; Jimin does too, even comes up with the most absurd idea (like who arm wrestles while sitting 5ft apart? and knowing he will definitely lose?) urm 128 rounds, 128 losses...

3) The way Jimin ruffles Jungkook’s hair, as if to say “You did well, baby. I’m proud of you” or the way Jungkook leans into Jimin’s touch when he pats his hair.

Birthday Message

Wow, this has got to be the shortest thing I’ve written in a long time. I said I’d write something short, and I did! Huzzah! I got the idea from @otp-fanfic-ideas​, so check out their blog if you want some cool ideas! I’ll reblog the one I used, shall I?

It’s Alfred’s birthday today! Send him a birthday wish to let him know you’re thinking of him! 

Yes, Arthur knew it was Alfred’s birthday. He didn’t need a Facebook notification to tell him that it was his crush’s birthday. 

Furthermore, Arthur was always thinking of Alfred. Well, not always. That would be creepy and obsessive. Just enough times during the day to confirm that he did indeed have a crush on Alfred. 

If he let Alfred know he was thinking of him, Alfred would know he had a huge-ass crush on him. 

But Arthur needed to send him a birthday wish. Alfred was the type of guy who regularly updated his Facebook status, tagged people (mostly Arthur and Matthew) in stuff, posted pictures, the like. He’d consider the lack of a Facebook birthday message an insult. 

So Arthur had to send him a birthday message.

The only thing was, he didn’t know how. Not literally; he knew what he had to do to post it, he just didn’t know what to write. Usually he just wrote a quick ‘Happy birthday, Alfred!’ and accompanied it with a picture of his favourite superhero or something, but he couldn’t do that on Alfred’s sixteenth! The sixteenth was special, and so the message had to be special! 

Plus, there was the fact that Alfred had sent that birthday message that made his heart flutter and made him fall deeper in love.

Happy birthday, Artie! Sixteen now, bro! Just wanted to say that you’re a hella awesome friend and if I didn’t have you in my life it would be duller ‘cause I wouldn’t have your shining sarcasm to brighten it up! Not to mention your intelligence and sharp wit and all that stuff. Also, your writing abilities are mega-awesome and you’ve got the best imagination I’ve ever seen! So, y’know. Have a hella awesome birthday, and I’m really glad you’re my friend!!

Arthur could not send a simple ‘Happy birthday!’.

His fingers hovered over the keyboard, itching to type what he really wanted to say. He really wanted to tell Alfred what a brilliant person he was; tell him just how seeing his dazzling smile made Arthur’s day better; tell him how his laugh was wonderfully infectious, if loud and obnoxious; tell him about how addictive his shining optimism and hyperactivity were; tell him how his outrageous ideas were simply testament to how much of a genius he was; tell him that he was amazing in every sense of the word.

But that would be the same as typing ‘HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALFRED DID YOU KNOW I HAVE A MASSIVE CRUSH ON YOU?’. 

So, no.

Sighing in frustration, he procrastinated by finding a good picture of Captain America that he could edit into a Happy Birthday e-card, and then once he found one he procrastinated even more by editing it. And this involved finding a suitable background, painstakingly cutting out the image of Steve Rogers, choosing the right colours and the right font, laying it out correctly, all of which took him an hour to do in total.

An hour later he had a perfect e-card, but no message.

Look, just write something which sounds like something you’d say!

Use hiding-a-crush you, for God’s sake! Unless you want to tell him how you feel, which I REALLY don’t recommend. He’s gay, but not gay for you.

Scowling, Arthur went back onto Facebook. Conversations with himself surrounding his crush always ended like that, with himself reminding him that he had no chance with Alfred. The boy was cheery, optimistic, sunny, dazzling. Why on Earth would he ever want to burden himself down with Arthur’s cynicism, pessimism, sarcasm, and bluntness? Being Alfred’s love was only a fantasy. A shining, brilliant fantasy.

After debating for about five minutes on what to write, he finally typed in something, uploaded his e-card, and hit send.

Satisfied, he switched off his laptop and began messing around on his phone, listening to music and scrolling through Tumblr and whatnot, his mind on other things. He couldn’t wait to go to Alfred’s house, to sit with him on the bus, to skate with him, to have Alfred hold his hands as he taught Arthur how to skate, to fall into Alfred’s arms when he would end up tripping...

His notification tone rang out, effectively snapping him out of his wonderful daydream. Irritated, he checked his messages, and scoffed. Turned out it was Francis who’d texted him. Francis was his best friend, but he still didn’t approve of being texted by him when he was in the middle of imagining how Alfred’s strong arms would feel around him.

-Arthur what kind of birthday message was THAT

Arthur stared in confusion before he remembered that everyone could see his birthday message, not just Alfred.

-A fine one. Why do you ask?

-Arthur that was anything but fine you have a CRUSH on this boy why are you like this

Arthur scowled. A few months ago (on Arthur’s birthday, incidentally), Francis had figured out the object of Arthur’s affections when he’d caught sight of Arthur smiling and blushing uncontrollably in response to Alfred’s birthday message, and now he’d taken it upon himself to be his Romantic Advisor. His ‘advice’, however, always seemed to be along the lines of ‘hint until he figures it out’.

-Well, I’m not exactly going to give him a sappy message, am I? He’ll KNOW I like him if I do that!

-Mon DIEU Arthur! You’ll scare him off at this rate!

-Pfft, Alfred knows I wish him well. If he didn’t, he wouldn’t have stayed my friend all these years, would he? Honestly, I think sending a heartfelt message would scare him more.

-You are hopeless

Another notification tone rang out, and Arthur pulled down the drop-down menu to read it.

Alfred Foster Jones commented on your picture.

His birthday message popped up, and Arthur felt a little nervous as he scrolled to see what Alfred had said. Despite his words to Francis, there was still the small chance Alfred might take offence, especially considering the sweet birthday message he’d given Arthur.

Arthur let out a breath he didn’t know he’d been holding, and grinned like an idiot. Alfred hadn’t taken offence, and had even realised that he held him close to his heart.

He’d even said ‘love ya too’.

Arthur hid his face in his hands and did his best to refrain from gleefully jumping up and down, knowing he’d get all four of his brothers coming into his room and being nosy if he did so. So he contented himself with reading the comment over and over again (concentrating especially on the ‘love ya too’ part).

About five minutes later, Arthur’s notification tone rang out again, alerting him to a text that turned out to be from Alfred.

-Dude?

-You there?

Arthur hastened to respond. He didn’t much mind texts from Alfred.

-Yes, why?

The next text made his breath hitch and eyes go wide.

-Francis kinda told me you like me

Arthur felt himself burn with both anger and embarrassment. On the first day Francis had brought up his knowledge of Arthur’s crush Arthur had very explicitly told him not to tell Alfred. And what had the fucker done? God, Alfred probably thought him some sort of weirdo freak now. He wouldn’t want Arthur round at his house anymore, he would probably act awkward and uncomfortable around him now, they’d grow apart instead of closer –

-Wait wait wait dont go and chew francis out!!

Arthur scowled – that was exactly what he’d been planning on doing.

-Why ever should I not? The bastard frog’s embarrassed me.

-Cause youre gonna thank him!

He blinked, and furrowed his eyebrows. Was Alfred saying... What Arthur thought he was saying? Or was Arthur reading too far into it?

-What a ludicrous notion.

-Nah nah nah, its not ludicrous at all!

-Cause, er...

Arthur waited, his heart in his mouth. There was no way – Alfred couldn’t –

-I kinda like you too, Artie.

Alfred could.

Arthur’s eyes widened and a giddy, deliriously happy feeling took hold of him, making his heart beat a million times a minute and making him feel like he was soaring high above the world. He stared at the message until it was ingrained into his memory, not quite believing his luck.

Alfred liked him back.

Alfred liked him back. 

These two years of desperately wanting Alfred to be his wasn’t for nothing, because Alfred liked him back.

-Artie?? You stil there??

-Yes.

The amount of restraint it took to not keyboard-smash an excited response was quite frankly astounding.

-So?

-Whaddaya say?

-*’What do [I] say’ to what?

-Pfft, grammar nerd 😝

-Anyway, WHADDAYA say to me asking you out?

Oh God. 

Was Alfred trying to make him spontaneously combust with joy?

If he’d needed self-restraint before, he needed ten times the amount now. For God’s sake, Alfred had just asked Arthur out! Day after day Arthur had constructed scenarios in which they confessed to each other, but not once had it crossed his mind that it may actually have ended up happening.

Act cool, Arthur. Don’t freak him out.

-I say that’s a wonderful idea, and I’m inclined to respond with a ‘yes’.

Not two seconds later Alfred called him, and Arthur pressed ‘Accept’ only to be met with Alfred’s loud American voice screaming down the phone.

“OHMIGOD WE’RE DATING ARTIE WE’RE DATING HOLY SHIT YOU’RE MY BOYFRIEND OHMIGOD OHMIGOD OHMIGOD!”

Arthur could practically hear the wide smile stretched across Alfred’s face. What he wouldn’t give to see it...

“How long have you liked me?” Alfred asked excitedly. “It’s been ten months for me, ever since we went to Alton Towers together.”

“Tch, amateur,” Arthur said, although Alfred’s words made his heart go aflutter. Ten months. For ten months Alfred had liked him. However small a time that was compared to how long Arthur had been yearning for Alfred, it still made him smile uncontrollably. “Try two years.”

“Two years?!” He exclaimed. “How the heck did you survive?! I was going crazy with ten months!”

“You learn a few tricks, I guess. Namely, just act how you acted before developing the attraction.” God, Arthur didn’t know how he was keeping himself so calm when all he wanted to do was jump around with joy.

“I think it’s a good thing that I couldn’t hide it well, though,” Alfred mused.

“How come?”

“Well, Francis found me out. That’s why he told me that you like me, ‘cause he knew about five months ago that I like you. Oh, he also told me to tell you that the only reason he told me that you like me is because – er, what was it – oh, because you weren’t ever going to get the ball rolling, so he had to... Or something.”

It was surprising that Arthur even understood that.

He laughed, not having the will to be irritated at Francis anymore. The bloke had literally just gotten Arthur and Alfred to date – being annoyed at him would be criminal.

“Thank God you wear your heart on your sleeve, hm? I didn’t know how much longer I could take it,” Arthur said. Then, a thought suddenly struck him. “Oh, and I actually do wish you a happy birthday, by the way! I just... I wanted to give you a special message like you did for me, but I didn’t know how to go about it without revealing anything.”

“Oh yeah, that!” Alfred laughed in his wonderful way on the other side of the phone. “I knew you meant well, dude! And it was kinda cute.”

Arthur knew his face was beet red by this point, and he muttered, “Sh-shut up, it wasn’t cute.”

“Pfft, yeah it was! Anyway,” he said before Arthur could protest, “seeing as how we’re now boyfriend and boyfriend, do – d’ya wanna come round to mine now instead of later? If you’ve got other things to do that’s totally fine of course, I just wondered if-“

“Alfred,” Arthur interrupted, grinning. Alfred was a confident bloke, but it seemed that romantic stuff could turn him into a nervous wreck. Now that’s cute.

“I’d love to, Alfred.”

“C-cool!” He could sense that Alfred was relieved. “So, heh, I guess I’ll see you soon?”

“See you,” Arthur said, then hung up, grinning like a lovesick dork at his phone. And then he finally let it all out – all the excitement and euphoria and giddiness just burst out of him as he rolled off his bed and jumped and squealed all over his room, not caring when his brothers came barging in and saw him bouncing up and down like a hyperactive jack-in-the-box.

Alfred was his boyfriend.

His BOYFRIEND.

“What the hell’s gotten into you?” one of his brothers asked, looking truly confused.

“Alfred’s my boyfriend and I’m off to his house so if you don’t mind please get out I need to change, thanks!” Arthur shoved them out and began getting himself ready to go to Alfred’s, the ecstatic feeling not lessening in the slightest.

Ten minutes later he was zipping up his boots when his phone buzzed with a text from Francis.

-So are you going to change your Facebook relationship status yet?

-Alfie has

Arthur couldn’t scowl at Francis meddling in his love life, not after what he’d done.

-I suppose I’ll do it, then. ...Thanks, by the way.

-Always happy to help the romantically-inept 😘

He just knew that Francis was chuckling behind his phone, and so was Arthur. But Francis was right – he should update his relationship status. Alfred was a social media addict, even if Arthur wasn’t.

Arthur Kirkland went from being single to being in a relationship with Alfred Foster Jones.

Less than a minute later his phone buzzed again, this time with a Facebook notification.

6.List your OTP from each fandom you’ve been involved in.

Honestly, the only OTP I have is MakoHaru and I’m really not involved in any other fandoms than Free! but I can give you some other shows and series that I’m not really that invested in besides just watching them but like some ships that are in them, for example:

- Reina x Kumiko (Hibike! Euphonium)- Otaa x Tanaka (Tanaka-kun wa Itsumo Kedaruge)- Takeo x Rinko (Ore Monogatari)

17. Who was your first OTP and are they still your favourite?

MakoHaru was my first OTP and they’re definitely still my favourite. I’ve had ships before them but those weren’t really OTPs because I definitely didn’t feel as strongly for them as I do for MakoHaru.

19. Is there a ship which you wished you could get behind, but you just don’t feel them?

No, I don’t actually have ships like that. I like what I like and I’m very content with that.

23. Name a fic you’ve written that you’re especially fond of & explain why you like it.

In a way, I’m fond of all of my fics because I spent time creating the story and working on it so the plot really had time to grow on me, but I think “Strength” is still a little special. Yesterday was actually its 2 year anniversary of when I posted the first chapter, and though you wouldn’t say it since there are only 5 chapters out currently, I really love writing this story. It’s intended to be such an emotional rollercoaster and I just love imagining and visualising everything that has happened and what is yet to come. I also really like that I’m the only person in the world who knows how it’s going to end; of course, every other fic is like that too but in this case especially it’s really satisfying. So I hope that the people who read it think it’s a little special too and enjoy the emotional rollercoaster until the end!

30. What inspires you to write?

MakoHaru does. It sounds really cliché but it’s true, when I’m thinking about them I just get the urge to write everything out, different universes and scenarios and all of that. If it weren’t for MakoHaru, I doubt I would have ever started to write and then I would have never found out how much I enjoy it, so for that I’m eternally grateful to them.

31. What’s the nicest thing someone has ever said about your writing?

There are so many nice things that people have said that it’s hard to pick because I love every comment and reaction, but the ones where people say that my fics are one of their favourites and that they’re memorable and stuff like that is really the best and that really makes my day.

39. What is you greatest strength as a writer?

I always find this really hard to answer because I don’t want to sound like I’m tooting my own horn, but going off of what readers have said to me, it’s the way I write Makoto and Haru’s relationship. I’ve been told that it feels loving and real and I really appreciate that, since their relationship is centric of pretty much all my fics.

I’m actually not reading anything right now. I’m trying to focus on my own writing and I’ll pretty much only read a fic if one of my friends posts one, which are almost always one-shots or two-shots so that’s not currently reading. Sorry!

Okay I just want to say, there are so many authors who are amazing and just because I don’t mention them doesn’t mean they’re not great, alright? Also, in no particular order, they’re all great.

45. What is your all time favourite fanfic?

I don’t have an all time favourite fic, because there are so many amazing fics that I really, really couldn’t choose. But there’s one fic that I always go back to if I want something short and full of feels, and that fic is Retrograde by SpartanSiren.

46. If someone was to read one of your fanfics, which fic would you recommend to them and why?

That’s a really hard question because I know that different people like different things. I would like everyone to read Strength, but I know that there are many people who don’t like or can’t handle that type of angst. If you want loads of fluff with only a little bit of angst, you could read Ray of Sunshine (though I’m also a little hesitant because I’m really not a fan anymore of the first, like 30 chapters of that fic since it’s been so long since I wrote them.) If you want something that feels light-hearted yet still a tiny bit of tension and angst, then you could try my latest fic From Pauper to Prince. If you don’t want to read something that’s quick and finished, then you can try one of my one-shots depending on which one you like best.

So really, it’s hard to say which fic I would recommend because I would want everyone to enjoy my fics and that would be impossible if they like light-hearted things and I recommend them something that is full of angst, and vice versa.

51. Rant or Gush about one thing you love or hate in the world of fanfiction! Go!

Okay I don’t mean offense to anyone when I say this nor am I calling out anyone in particular, but many readers are not appreciative enough of the fics they get to read. I’m not specifically talking about my own readers per se, but I can only use my own experiences as an example. The hits to comments ratio is ridiculous for most fics and I too wish that I would get more comments. I obviously appreciate every comment I do get and I’m really grateful of them and the people who left them, but it’s just so disappointing to watch the hits count go up and up while the kudos and comments stay the same. That really gives me the feeling that people don’t like my work and that is really discouraging. If I post a chapter that I spent a lot of time pouring my heart and soul into it and I get zero comments, sometimes I really feel like I should just stop writing because no one cares anyway. Obviously I continue to write because I also write for myself but it’s just really discouraging. Especially when people say “oh I like your fics” or something and then never reblog my posts about them or leave me a comment, because that does give me the feeling that I’m only a provider for entertainment without getting anything in return. And then sometimes when you do get a comment, it’s nothing but “Finally, update soon” or something like that. Like obviously I’m glad that you like my fic enough to want me to update soon but it makes me feel like some people don’t realise how much time and effort goes into writing these fics, especially since many authors have a job and/or go to school during the day and find every bit of spare time they have to write these fics. 

I know that many writers feel like this and I know many have stopped writing because of the lack of response and I really don’t want that to happen to anyone else. So please, if you love a fic, please let the author know. I know it’s difficult for some people but I promise you that even just a “this was so cute” or “I love this” can really make an author’s day and validate their work. Support your fandom’s fanfiction writers because one day they might have had enough of not getting any response and feel so discouraged that they stop forever.

Fanfiction Questions

Which k drama should I watch next? I've only seen boys over flowers and weightlifting fairy kim bok joo so far, but I see you posting about all these shows and they look good, but which ones are the best? I mean I have to work so I can't watch all of them unfortunately haha

Hey! Okay, so be prepared for a huge deluge of information and incoherent babbling over the kdramas I love. This is gonna be a lot…

And thanks for asking the question! I’ve honestly been thinking about doing a totally random post about this anyway :)

So, I totally understand about the job thing, I am just insane and watch way too much tv way too fast…but with kdramas, slow and steady will still get you there, and probably it will be healthier and with the same if not more enjoyment if you don’t plow through them like a tornado as I do. Okay, so enough of that…here’s the list:

Goblin: the most beautiful, well-done, tragically happy (…so actually sad but with hope and some happiness at the end) kdrama out there….honestly, there is too much to say. The cinematography is stunning, the acting will blow you away, especially gong yoo’s and kim go eun was terrific too. This one has a really cool plot that deals with reincarnation in a super cool and interesting way. Honestly I wasn’t really a fan of the concept of reincarnation until I got to see it from the cultural perspective that’s presented in kdramas. This is half historical drama/half present day. 

Scarlet Heart Ryeo (Moon Lovers): A time travel trope starts off the story, sending the female lead back in time to the Goryeo dynasty and she’s thrown into the political machinations of the many princes/sons of the first king of Goryeo, many of whom are vying for the throne: cue tragedy…honestly, this show is so good, with a stellar ensemble, but you gotta be prepared for tragedy and heart break…but you’re going to enjoy it.

AND CURRENTLY I’VE BEEN TOTALLY OVERWHELMED BY THE SUNSHINE THAT IS JI CHANG WOOK and I’ve been working through his filmography.

Healer: which is one of his best shows (and a good show regardless of whether he’s in it or not) is a fun action adventure. It’s about this guy who is a thief (nighttime errand boy) for hire, whose code name is ‘Healer.’ Ji Chang Wook is great at action BUT is on top of that, I think, a really good/enjoyable actor. And honestly, his smiles are sunshine and when he cries, it will break your heart. Basically, it’s about him and the female lead (who’s totally great too) working to bring to justice the people behind the murders of some journalists in the 90s who were murdered but honestly, I would definitely recommend this show if you don’t want something as heavy as Goblin (which, warning, is a bit slower paced than some kdramas) or Scarlet Heart Ryeo. Some other good Ji Chang Wook shows, (but not as good as Healer) are: Warrior Beak Dong Soo, Bachelor Vegetable Shop, and K2. Warrior Beak Dong Soo, is a sprawling historical drama that’s kinda long at 29 episodes, though honestly the plot sustains itself fairly well. And in Bachelor Vegetable Shop, Ji Chang Wook plays the most pure cinnamon role in the whole world who just wants to sell quality fruits and vegetables to people and make their life better (there’s honestly a ton more drama but that’s the basis, lol). K2 is a bodyguard-love story, political drama. 

The Master’s Sun: This is also one of my ALL-TIME favorite kdramas. It has So Ji Sub (who is beautiful and a compelling actor) and Gong Hyo Jin (who is amazing in everything she does and she’s one of my favorite actors). Anyways, it’s a bit long (23 or 24 episodes rather than the usual 16 that the others I’ve mentioned so far are) but it’s amazing. It’s about a girl that can see ghosts after she had a near-death experience and she runs into the ceo of a company (who has a traumatic past) and for some reason when she touches him, the terrifying ghosts she’s been living with for years suddenly disappear. And through a series of circumstances, they end up working together to mutual benefit and it’s a bit of a serial sort of show (which is a bit different than the normal kdrama that just has an overarching plot). For almost every episode there is a new ghost/story and at the same time the show’s story arc also follows the investigation of uncovering the truth behind the male lead’s traumatic past. (And maybe it was just me) but some of the ghost stories definitely got me teary/sobby, but they are so compelling, and then the otp is such a great slow burn with a fantastic resolution. This and Goblin and Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo are my favorite kdramas of all time. 

Coffee Prince: This is another Gong Yoo show. It’s a bit older, but just give the first episode a bit and you probably won’t notice. It’s about a girl in a Twelfth Night/She’s the man cross dressing scenario, where she gets mistaken for a boy and through a somewhat convoluted way that makes sense, ends up getting a job at a coffee place called, Coffee Prince, that only has male baristas. And honestly it’s so great, and the female lead is super great and hard working and I love her and Gong Yoo’s character’s whole inner turmoil of his attraction to her (whom he believes to be a him) is great and fun and angsty and perfect. 

Other honorable mentions are: Full House, Strong Woman Do Bong Soon, Jealousy Incarnate (which is honestly this really great show about a weather girl-turn newscaster who’s in love with a male newscaster who gets breast cancer and she is the one who tells him he might have it and honestly it’s so good and interesting and deals with a lot of great stuff, k, this one’s actually a strong recommendation too), She Was Pretty (strong rec. as well), Chief Kim (about a rag-tag team of accountants trying to take down the man, it’s hilarious), Cheese in the Trap, Entourage, Hwarang, Cheer Up, Page Turner (a great little three-episode thing, Kim Ji Soo and Kim So Hyun are TERRIFIC in this), Shopping King Louis (which is light and happy, the main two are actually human puppies), My Shy Boss, Oh My Venus (Shin Min Ah and So Ji Sub are in this and their chemistry is terrrrrrific), Descendants of the Sun.

Also for a quick k’drama’ fix there are a couple movies I’ve watched which were great: Finding Mr. Destiny was kinda great, pretty light (a bit tv-movie-esque) but still strong and really enjoyable. And Train to Busan, which is the THE BEST ZOMBIE/HORROR film made in the recent past. And honestly, if horror’s not your thing, still give it a try. It’s not really mine either but I managed with this movie and it ended up being totally worth it–soooo good (and sad). Also, Werewolf Boy was great (the half that I watched) but I haven’t finished it yet.

Okay, gosh, that was SO MUCH, but that’s basically all of the good ones, although I may have missed a few here or there.
