Oh hey! A new reaction blog! Welcome! Anyways, how about the da:i companions reacting to an inquisitor being really good with animals and loving them, so they take every animal they see that is hurt back to skyhold to care for them and ends up keeping them all? (there may or may not be plans for a whole new stable just for more nugs...) please and thanks!
This has literally been in the ask box for months, as well as many others, I’m so sorry for not getting to it sooner! - Mod Jade
Dorian: I imagine Dorian has all sorts of allergies to certain animal furs, or at the very least, coming from the glamour of noble Tevinter life having animals everywhere in Skyhold would be...less than deal for our resident necromancer. “What is this place, a zoo now?” he keeps getting fur all over his clothes somehow, tripping over cats at every turn and finding random animals sitting on his head when he wakes up in the morning, it drives him insane. But he only has to look at the Inquisitor’s big puppy eyes and happy face when taking care of the animals to sigh and not it let it bother him. It’s rare the Inquisitor gets to be so happy, so he’ll let it be for them.
Dorian (Romanced): “my amatus, you do have a way with everyone and everything you meet don’t you?” he finds it endearingly sweet that the Inquisitor has such an affinity with creatures, it’s such an adorable side to the might Inquisitor. sometimes you can catch him looking at the animals a little jealously when the Inquisitor is tending to them
Vivienne: she does not approve. at all. like Dorian, she feels Skyhold has become a petting zoo, and it’s a good thing she resides on a balcony away from the wandering animals or she’d have to talk to the Inquisitor personally about the problem. As it is, she just shakes her head and lets the Inquisitor have their fun, but constantly ushers the animals away and makes the Inquisitor change into clean clothes when visitors come around
Cole: he likes it. he likes the company, and the critters seem to like him as well. he likes that the Inquisitor is so kind and helpful and cares for the animals like they’re people too. “a soft smile, gentle hands. you speak to them like they’re people. they like that, they like you.”
Iron Bull: if you’ve got a thing you’re really good at, there’s not much point in letting that talent go to waste is it? Bull encourages the Inquisitor to keep at their animal-caring hobby seeing they’re so good with animals, and being the big softie that he is, will even join the Inquisitor in settling in a new animal to Skyhold.
Iron Bull (Romanced): okay, you know the scene in Beauty and the Beast where Belle is teaching Beast how to feed birds? picture that. “hey kadan, look! i think they like me!” He loves that the Inquisitor loves animals so much. The Inquisitor can usually get the critters to trust Bull despite his big scary appearance, and they really like him. probably because he sneaks them the good food scraps from the kitchen all the time.
Solas: it amazes and impresses Solas to see the Inquisitor posses such a talent with animals. he prefers the company of animals than those who can speak, that’s for sure. the creatures are also happy to share his company, he’s gentle with them and they respect him, it seems they sense something older in him that gives them a mutual respect. he often speaks to them when he’s alone in the gardens, it’s surprisingly good personal therapy, and he encourages the Inquisitor to find more.
Solas (Romanced): although no one but Cole knows, Solas will often tend to the animals early in the morning, grooming them and chatting with them, usually about his vhenan. “You’re so lucky you know? to care for you so much as to bring you here to live with us. how can one person be so kind? you’re lucky to have that kind of love you know. come now, let us tend to your brothers and sisters.”
Sera: “oh yay, we’re bringing the forest with us now?” she may gripe about the woods following her, but she doesn’t mind the animals. especially the cats, they’re the perfect little pranking buddies, and they love her back scratches and special cookie treats. she asks the Inquisitor if she can come with her to round up some more critters to play with.
Sera (Romanced): “Oi, stop that! pay attention to me, aw shite don’t tell me you love them more than me! i’m way cuter than that lot!” she teases a lot, but she doesn't mind the attention the animals get from her honey-tongue. well, maybe sometimes she does. but watching the Inquisitor while she’s playing with the animals makes Sera smile. she scribbles sketches in her diary, of her Inky and her critters, covered in flowers. lots of them. wifey material that one, she thinks.
Varric: it reminds him a lot of Merrill actually, though animals tended to be skittish around the young Dalish, Daisy did love animals too. he’s glad the Inquisitor has more success with them. though the occasional manuscript that gets partially eaten is an inconvenience, he’s happy to “accidentally” leave his paperwork for the Guild in the pathway of a ravenous animal.
Blackwall: the animals tend to get in his way when he’s trying to train, and make off with his tools as he’s carving he swears they have something against him personally, even if the Inquisitor assures him that can’t be true. he supposes having a personal army of woodland creatures isn’t exactly a disadvantage, and the Inquisitor seems to be happy. He’ll leave it at that.
Blackwall (Romanced): just another thing to love about the Inquisitor. kind, generous, attractive, and amazing with animals. is there anything they can’t do? he’s not too good with animals himself, but he’ll try to get them to like him for the Inquisitor.
Cassandra: the first time she saw a random animal run across her path she was shocked. the second time was the Inquisitor running after it. she shook her head, and went back to her book, letting the Inquisitor get up to whatever antics they liked. everyone had to have a hobby after all, who was she to judge? and some of the animals seem to like her, they make good company when she’s reading, sometimes she’ll read to them.
Cassandra (Romanced): it’s straight out of one of her romance novels, her love has such a beautiful soul even the animals are drawn to them. it’s very romantic, and it’s very cute to see her love so happy and relaxed with the animals. sometime she’ll stop watching them and actually join them with their critter friends, and then she really feels like she’s inside the pages of a novel.
