i feel this way too!! i thought it was the voice too but then i watched a video essay on tcw and it made me realize that it was the writing of him, mostly. tcw anakin was so much more calmer and less arrogant and power-hungry than films' anakin.
the video was "star wars the clone wars does not hold up (part 1)" by sheev talks. at around 12 minutes begins the section dedicated to him. i watched it because i thought i disagreed and was curious to hear another point of view but he actually managed to change my mind. he has good arguments!
honestly what is it with the clone wars and the characters not feeling quite the same. I think it's the really square art style. like we all know how egregious the clone whitewashing is (it's really bad). but even like. tcw anakin and film anakin feel like distinct characters to me. I think his voice is really different too which is probably part of it. Obi wan feels pretty perfect though tbh gotta hand it to him
#tbh i really enjoyed these 2 videos because it really made me realize a lot of poor writing moments in tcw that i couldn't point out myself#but somehow felt were there. like. idk sometimes there were arcs (like mortis) that i tried so hard to understand and reuse for my story but#i just couldn't do it without it making 0 sense and like. thanks to this critique i know see things a lot more clearly and I've been#enjoyjng the show better actually. i can now see which arcs were good in my opinion and which arcs i liked for their potential more than#their executions etc. idk it was really inspiring and “clarifying”. my whole story would've collapsed under the mortis arc's mess without#the ideas sprung from seeing these videos HAHA#star wars#tcw#the clone wars#star wars the clone wars#star wars analysis#g posting
