meet the parents of sam flores, beelzebub and cate! i had a tentative design for beelzebub a while back but i was never particularly set on keeping it...and the past few days had me thinking a lot about their story and then i got serious brainrot from there.

beelzebub, demon royalty and avatar of gluttony, meets cate after being exiled to the human world and sealed to live as a human as punishment for causing major property damage in both the demon and human worlds. she finds him face-down on her college campus, starving, and she gives him her lunch as she's on her way to her next class. beelzebub follows her to thank her and also because he's clueless...cate worries she's attracted a weird, super-jacked stray nobody but quickly finds that's not exactly the case when he's attacked by lesser demons who want to take his position in the demon world.

cate eventually makes a deal with lucifer to house beelzebub until she graduates in 3 years and lucifer will provide her a new place to stay in with him, cash payment, and everything she might need to keep him alive until then. she slowly teaches beelzebub how to not be a big, spoiled, helpless baby and beelzebub grows as a person, puzzled by his desire to make cate proud, but leans into those feelings nonetheless...

their story, which i do want to make into a webcomic, would be a sort of prequel spin-off to moonlight valley...but i won't really start working working on it until we meet sam and his parents in canon--i had a lot of fun designing his demon form and i'm really proud of how he came out!
