Yeah. This entire book is so bad, and he is so out of character I am just skipping pages at this point to see if there's anything else crazy enough for me to mention.

#it's such a bad book like #i've read other books where the setting is ancient athens and at least #they manage to paint a believable and lively picture of the city #this book is so dry and so soulless #it doesn't feel like it's set in the period it's set in #some characters are interesting and charming but it feels like an accident #and alcibiades is so not himself I cannot stand it he doesn't have a shred of charm on him #the lack of socrates is a glaring unforgivable hole #the romance with aspasia KEEPS GOING for like 13 chapters it's actually ridiculous #and it's all full of stuff like they're writting letters to each other and swear to never see each other again and look at each other longi #like you have no idea the psychic damage I have sustained #I have given up for today I think #I might actually skip to the end #oh also one last very annoying thing #aspasia is the only woman so far. im almost halfway through and she's the only female character
