// i am once again thinking abt all of volk's pent up anger towards flint
does he think it's his own fault for once again losing someone because he just didn't step up and get out of his situation himself? when he could've maybe also gone on a journey with his at the time best (only) friend? absolutely (he was just too scared of his father to run away but the guilt says otherwise-)
but then flint went on to continue his journey and to become part of the e4 and never looked back to sunyshore while everything kept getting worse and he just sees him on tv or something being happy and successful all on his own and clearly he doesn't need anyone else does he? and it's just the "he really isn't going to remember about me huh."
except then flint does come back and it's only to ask him to reopen the gym. over and over and he just gets angrier because flint really only cares about the gym doesn't he? he's not here to check on an old friend and see if he's okay is he? no flint, he doesn't just need a good battle to get back in the game leave him alone now!
he would deck the shit out flint if he didn't know it would bring more trouble than it's worth.

Not really much for a discussion here but it's just smth that's been on my mind I need to eject it sorry 🙏 A thing I rlly rlly like about jjk is the theme of saving people as well as the fact that characters actions actually have consequences that often times are fatal if not for them for others around them. I think one of the most consistently relevant quotes from jjk, especially relating to recent chapters but we don't need to talk about them 🤕🤒, is when megumi (WHERE IS HE) was like "what happens when the person you save goes on to kill someone else?" Bc like. This whole thing started because yuji saved megumi who then decided to save yuji despite knowing he was sukunas, which he later paid for. Not only that but bc of just these choices so many people like just SOOOO many people lost their lives including people they know which is the complete opposite of what yuji is striving for and then add on the fact that pretty much all the big character deaths/megumi takeover </3 happened directly in front of yuji which is brutal but also extremely effective in showing us that in this story, protagonist or not actions have consequences and plot armour isn't gonna save anyone this time. Also whenever I think abt this I'm reminded of when yujis grandpa tells him to "save people even if it's just one" which was really the motive for yujis resolve in the first place, and I'm bringing that up rn because yuji still hasn't been able to save the people he cares for most and it's just. God it's so tragic but it's so good and it's things like this that are the reason I love jjk so much and trust in gege's story telling . Idk if I have a point to this so sorry for the random word vomit but I just think that the specific theme of saving people and the different views everyone has about it, as well as characters actually having to deal with the consequences of their actions (nobara jumping in on the fight with mahito, megumi letting yuji live, just EVERYTHING with gojo tbh, etc) is just done so well done and I really do look forward to (maybe a hint of dread in there too) seeing how he ties it all up. Having said that if he doesn't return my son to me next chapter he WILL be hearing from my lawyer and I will be taking full custody 🤝
Hola!
ok but... I LOVE this! I couldn't agree more!
It's like one big massive hard dish of cold truth. And I think that's what's so deeply resonant about this particular theme in the story is the idea that the road to hell is paved with good intentions because there are simply so many moving parts that are beyond our control.
Of course, in this case, we're also talking about how these characters are responsible for, not just their own misfortunes, but also that of others.
So, as you say, I also love that "in this story, protagonist or not actions have consequences and plot armour isn't gonna save anyone this time".
Because ain't that the fucking truth? Like if I had plot armor going for me I'd be a millionaire by now lol. But instead I have to sit with the consequences of my choices loooool.
idk, I am going on a tangent here but I just love how Gege can write about these deep truths about the human condition that are so relatable and agree with you that he's doing a beautiful job of it.
And to me, that's the kind of storytelling I like. So I also hear you about trusting Gege's storytelling.
I'm looking forward to seeing where Gege takes this whole thing AND to more word vomit from you too! Thank you for sharing the jjk-love!
Also, I'm totally interested in joining a class-action suit against Gege for custody of Megumi LOL 🤝.
Thank youuuuuuuuu 🫶🏼.

Also have you ever considered: Ponyta loaf? Also, thoughts on Chairman Rose? Not many people in the Pokémon Community seem fond of him because he's now overshadowed by Peony. I mean I like him and I've been rotating him in my mind for the past half an hour now xD but Peony's okay too. ~Strike anon~
Can’t remember much abt Rose from game and what he wanted te reach by using eternatus exactly, but i still remember anime ark(?) with him…kinda
(There’s probably gonna be some spoilers)
I think i can empathise for him(he wanted to get energy for entire galar by using eternatus to prevent any death on mines, like his parents),but how it says “The road to hell is paved with good intentions”(at least how we saying it in my country) and he didnt thought much that this can lead to second darkest day(which luckily was been prevented).he just wanted to make something good for all region but didnt thought enough that everything can go wrong completely
It’s all actually reminds me abt N a bit,but his case is quite different story(he wanted everything good for pokemons but, probably bcs of ghetsis, didnt thought that it all can lead to smth bad for both ppl and pokemons)
That’s all what i can say from all what i remember and i can be quite wrong abt some stuff,of course
Also ponytail loaf

Chapter 2.1 Notes:
yuri’s reason for using axes being he was too broke to own another sword has the same vibe as jin and lora using one sword because they don’t have the money for another and unknowingly setting a future trend for blades and drivers
yuri continues to besmirch an ages old technique; flynn: THE SACRED TEXTS!!!!
i think it would be funny for the translation for 人の好さが災いして to be the road to hell is paved with good intentions, since it has the equivalent to good intentions sometimes lead to disaster
gotta love how the narration states the yuri is the sole exception to flynn’s nice guy side it’s so funny like flynn really said no i fucking hate yuri and yuri only /j
im crying but why did the original text have to stress the words ふたりは仲がいい like how explicit do you want to get
ok i wonder if these knights are a reference to empty mask or smth
yuri: i wonder if one of those knights that came by had just gone thru a life-redefining character arc or smth. anyway
smth smth side note to standardise flynn’s addressing of hanks-san.
baby flynn sad :(
oh i thought she had fantasy cancer or smth but was it actually aersickness lol
i guess its back to being flynn suffering hours (TM)
wow can you believe flynn didnt like go batshit insane after all this happened yuri really is his restraining factor fr
the doctor: there is a disturbance in the force (aer) insane that this is probably alexei building the hermes blastia or heracles or smth idk
lmao i wonder if flynn has like. some kind of ptsd seeing panacea bottles in the main game wouldn’t that be funny anyway
so 万能薬 (panacea in furigana) is in the description for the halure tree panacea bottle and normal panacea bottle. but it’s technically just ‘panacea’ or cure-all, etc. i’ll just put panacea/panacea bottle when appropriate but the reference should be obvious. (i have a hundred of these in my inventory…)
so basically if they knew estelle they would have been able to cure norein i see (delulu) (estelle is probably like 7 y/o at this point in the game or smth)
its interesting to see how this time is flynn who is challenging the supposed norm instead of yuri who has kinda given up and going no dude this is fucked up we should rise up against the nobles (and then flynn in the future: lol)
btw that last line has a page all to itself! poor flynn. all alone. baby.

crowley and aziraphale finding out about snape being an asshole to harry during classes/overhear him saying smth busted to harry
[ao3]
It's not that they don't expect Snape to be an arse to Harry, Crowley one-hundred-percent expects Snape to be an arse to Harry at some point. The grumpy bastard makes Hastur seem good-natured sometimes.
So yeah, Crowley expects Snape to be an arse to their son, he just doesn't expect him to say what he does.
Aziraphale is being an angel, as usual, and has taken it upon himself to make sure some miserably failing students don't fail miserably. That means Crowley has some time to himself between classes and he takes happy advantage of that fact to go snoop.
Snooping is not a good thing and is thus evil so Crowley is technically doing his job as a demon. The fact that he's snooping around the dungeons so he can eavesdrop on Harry's potions class is irrelevant.
The road to hell is paved with good intentions after all.
It's because he's listening to the class as a whole rather than just Harry that Crowley hears the absolute shit Snape spits at his son.
"Of course, Potter, you would think yourself above paying attention in class," Snape says with that drawl he has that Crowley is sort of impressed by. It sounds so evil. He's a little jealous. "Using your fame and popularity to avoid responsibility. So very like your father."
Now, to be fair, it's less what Snape says than the way he says it. That last word, 'father' is spat out with such hatred, such vitriol that Crowley goes completely still against the wall he's leaning on.
Snape's tone is so far beyond disdain it runs headlong into outright hatred. Hatred that isn't limited to Harry's deceased father, not when Harry looks so like James Potter.
Crowley gets hatred, he does. He hates a lot of things, a lot of people, and more. But he will never, can never, hate a child for reasons that belong to their parent.
Crowley doesn't barge into the classroom and absolutely destroy Snape but he really, really wants to.
First, however, he needs to go talk to his angel and they need to figure out how to handle Snape together. Killing the bastard is, unfortunately, something Crowley can't do since he rarely has caused the end of a life.
Not because he can't—he absolutely can, Crowley is a demon, he can kill humans, no problem—but because he doesn't want to.
Aziraphale would call that nice of him.
He finds the angel just leaving the little study group he runs in the library. Together they head to the Great Hall for lunch, shoulders close enough to touch, as usual.
"What seems to be bothering you, dear?" Aziraphale asks.
"A certain batty being," Crowley replies, proud of the pun.
Aziraphale looks at him. "Oh?" He asks, looking delightfully innocent. "Does this being require some of our combined attention, or is it a creature that is unworthy of that much attention?"
Crowley smirks. "I think it'd be a bit of a privilege really," he replies, looking at Aziraphale, "that the batty being deserves for their dedication."
Aziraphale nods, eyes twinkling. "Of course, dear," he says, as they reach the Great Hall. "And how has Harry been thus far today? I haven't seen him or his delightful friends yet."
They both look over at the Gryffindor table in unison, picking out the sight of their son sitting between his friends. He seems happy enough but Crowley can tell there's a thread of anger and hurt in Harry.
The batty being definitely isn't getting off easy for that, Crowley decides. Judging by the little frown on his angels face, Aziraphale agrees.
Up at the staff table, Severus Snape feels a chill run down his spine; one that he often experienced when kneeling before the Dark Lord just before a bout of crucio. He has the sense that he's the focus of something that is Not At All Happy With Him Right Now And Is Going To Let Him Know That Unequivocally.
He's right.

I’m quite active on the free! Fanbase and something that I’ve noticed is that the reason makoharu is as popular as it is, is because majority of its stans are people who watched free! Once like 5 years ago. They also tend to be Makoto stans and they just want it because “mako deserves it” A lot of the people who actually are into free! or focus on Haru’s feelings always ship Rinharu, and it’s because if you look at what Haru wants it’s clear that he wants Rin.
Yeah, it’s true. Lots of ppl told me that they’ve seen it completely differently after rewatching it at a mature age. But even though I can’t relate to it when it comes to anime, cause I’ve started watching it at 19, I still don’t get for what reason you can hate Rin at 13, but love at 20, you know. Just because I really can’t find any reason to hate Rin. At all. Maybe it’s cause my mom stuffed me with books since I were young, but I’ve never had such thing like I hated some character and then reread some book or rewatched some movie later and it was like a complete opposite. But at the same time, my mom recently showed her kids in class BNHA and she said that many asked “why Bakugou is so evil?” which I think is pretty dumb for a 13/14 olds to be so shallow minded.
I mean, you can not fully understand grown up stuff, like you know, disney cartoons have something that only adults will get, but generally you should be able to see past the surface. But also I just don’t think you can appreaciate Free! being very young, cause as I said before, even tho it’s not that deep and silly at times, the beauty of it to me is that it’s so fucking relatable to ppl who’s been though stuff like that. Like not knowing what to do with yourself after school even tho you have great options.. I’ve been though that. Wanting to do what you love, but being afraid that this being your job will ruin it for you... check. Recently I’ve lost my grandpa, and this was the first time I went through smth like that, and it was a horrible time for my mom and I don’t live with my parents, but actually that picture of Rin from Yakusoku was stuck in my head and it moved me to get it together and do stuff for her, I probably wouldn’t before. So it’s not as silly as it seems if you know the feeling.
When it comes to Makoto, I’ve talked about it in this post already, I do not get why he has so many fans. I find it super sad. Cause every smart adult would never see Makoto as a reliable person in life (and that’s like the main button makoharu try to push). This fandom constantly markets him as an extremely good and etc while they dont even see that usually he’s either spineless, either plain stupid (that ocean saving Rei scene just pisses me off so fucking much to this day). I feel like the “the road to hell is paved with good intentions” is about him seriously. Every good friend can bring food, but at the end of the day it’s the tough situations that counts at least to me. And when it comes to them, if anybody noticed we’re on our own. Or we need to call Rin.
About “he deserves it”... And Haru doesn’t deserve anything in their opinion? Being with the person who makes him feel alive and his heart go boom-boom, who makes him reach for the stars and see the world, makes him want silly things like rainbows in the pool... that doesn’t matter, right? haha
I think when you ship something, you should think about both sides. You can’t just love one and don’t care for other... it leads to... well, this. Cause Rin makes Haru the best version of himself and Haru makes Rin the best version of himself. And that’s how it usually works in literally all of my ships.
Also this whole thing the makoharu fans are saying remind me of Yokozawa from “Sekaiichi Hatsukoi”, who went “but I was with him all the time, when you weren’t.. you left”. That’s not how it even works dude, and just because there was a misunderstanding doesn’t mean they can’t love each other anymore. It wasn’t Onodera’s fault and Rin’s fault, yeah, they left in the heat of the moment, but sometimes circurmstances play a bigger role. Plus let’s be honest, it needed to happen, otherwise they wouldn’t be this amazing and strong as they’re right now. That “I loved you before, but the person I’m in love with right now is you in the present.” got stuck in my head forever. I truly believe that Haru loves Rin even more as he is right now, same goes to Wangxian, Mikayuu and lots of ships. Separation is sad, but sometimes its needed for characters to get to where they are now.
I feel like this ship also started at times, when it was “very cool” to brand every ship ever as “abusive” for no reason and I laughed a lot at this phase, especially young ppl tended to throw stuff like “he’s not good for her/him”, when even a light argument happened. And that’s just so dumb, cause I felt like most didn’t even know what they’re talking about, it was just “cool” xD. I’m glad this phase has passed tho, cause it started to get.. not funny lol
I find it extremely hilarious tho that after all it’s been proven that Rin is what best for Haru, which I think was obvious from the very beginning. And I haven’t seen any new makoharu related anything for ages, nor on youtube, nor on “free!” tag, so I sometimes even forget that it’s the most popular ship in Free. In 2014 maybe? I’m just happy here, cause Harurin are together, they’re happy, they got evething they wanted, and Rin is glued to us right now haha What else do I need. I’m gonna edit the kisses myself haha I’m working on stuff to get better at this lolz

the ragnarok anon: oh yikes, I didn't notice it in the umbrella academy, one would think that people would talk about it more since it's that popular, but I haven't seen anything 😬 also I think that I'm just. more blind to this stuff because I never really thought about stereotypes, so thank you for pointing it out!
I still don't think that in ragnarok it was done with a malicious intent or anything and that it's supposed to be antisemitic, probably just a very unfortunate coincidence, most likely someone else who just doesn't know. which is not great, but I don't think they deserve to be cancelled. and I do agree that it's the whole system that is rotten and needs to be brought down but I also think that on television it's probably easier to portray with a concrete bunch of people.
and I absolutely agree with the fact that it'd be much more interesting if loki was the main character/the gods explicitly bad. but with the way it is rn, I do think it makes sense that thor is the main character and I think they Are going to make him go against the gods, or odin at the very least, I don't think they're going to make ragnarok play out the way it's written. I have a lot of thoughts about this djdjdj
thank you for talking to me, I think I understand things more now :)
Yeah you would think right??? Idk there's a few tumblr posts about it and an article. But it's not much. I'm super invested in finding critiques of shit i currently consume or writing them if i can't find any, so i have read those, and people are appearently saying that UA is worse in the second season???? Which makes me go insane, I've not seen it but s1 does not need to be topped on this? Like they could have amended it but i guess they didn't.
I don't think anything needs to be done with bad intentions to be bad ever. The road to hell is paved with good intentions. Idk people are hardly ever aware that what they're doing is discriminatory to a specific group, which is why it's important to point out, to be aware of potential issues going in and to hire sensitivity editors. This is my super broad thing about like basically whenever fans or content creators get defensive about a piece of media or a tweet or whatever being discriminatory. No one is saying the intentions are bad or the ppl doing the thing are doing so in a way that's malicious, just please hire sensitivity editors lol. Cancel culture is not real and me criticizing a show mildly to my audience of like 5ppl who have not seen it is not gonna get it cancelled lol. Personally i think it's really revealing about what people think cancel culture is when it's always brought up when anything or anyone ever is even mildly critical of smth for sjw™ reasons aaaa. Idk this is not meant to be criticizing u u just got me going about this topic I'm invested in i guess.
I think I'm just annoyed about another thing centering Thor? Like not to be rude but he's not that central. Like he's kinda cool but Loki and Odin are both much more interesting and their conflict is super neat. I need the odin/loki blood brothers romance content 😩😩😩 Idk might as well focus on Freya which would be cool too? And she's a Vane which is the nature gods ppl so it would thematically make sense? And Frigga as a central character also makes a lot of sense as like a fertility godess... Idk so many choices, why's it the marvel approach again :( Thor makes sense as a super hero with the powers but less as a protagonist in a show trying clearly to be critical of power. Also it feels like he doesn't even care about the environmental issues he's just using those to harm the jutuls which is shit. Idk. Maybe I'm just not a fan of magne as a character.
