“Still not answering?” Natasha asks from her spot in the cockpit, concern evident from the wrinkle between her brows.
“Nope” he spits his reply, reeling from the whole ordeal. He thrusts his phone into his jean pocket, sick to the back teeth of nothing but a black screen greeting him instead of your sweet little messages.
“Did you piss her off or something?” Sam tries to lighten the mood but is swiftly shut down, his hands rising in surrender at the killer glare the brunette shot his way.
“Calm down everyone, we’ll be home soon so we can figure this out” Steve, the voice of reason commands order within the small confines of the jet. He sits, a gloved hand rubbing over his friend's shoulder trying to reassure his muddled brain but to no avail.
Bucky is pissed. He’s pissed and he’s worried sick. A week he’s been gone for and he’s missing you like crazy. The only issue? You are ignoring him, straight up ghosting his brooding ass which is completely unlike you. Often on missions when Bucky clicks his phone on he’s greeted with a flurry of messages from you; photos of little birds you see on your walks, photos of alpine taken at odd angles and constant little messages that make his heart full and ready to continue his painstaking missions—none of it, just a notification from your favourite restaurant offering a discount to keep him happy.
As soon as this jet landed he was going to get to the bottom of what was going on and then he was going to cuddle you to death as punishment. Not that he’d let anyone else know that.
One Week Earlier…
Beep beep beep. Bucky’s alarm sounds at the ungodly hour of five am, his groan following. He didn't want to get out of this bed, he was too warm, his huge body wrapped around yours. Your movements spurred his own, your arm reaching over to switch off his alarm while he pushed himself into a sit, thoughts already on the mission afoot.
“Morning,” your raspy voice purrs, bringing his attention back to you. His eyes fall to your face; following the slope of your puffy cheeks up to your barely open eyes, your hues peeking through only enough to tease him. Putting his weight on his right arm he’s on top of you before you can blink, his head tucked into the crook of your neck, peppering tiny kisses along the warm skin.
“Morning princess,” he bites back his yawn, shifting so his hips slot in their spot between your plush thighs, loving the way they wrapped around his narrow waist just the way he loved. Practice truly did make perfect. His dark vibranium fingers drifted from your collarbone, over the swell of your breast until it found its favourite perch on your hips.
“So fucking pretty” he breathes, his pupils dilating to let more of you in — until you pushed him away.
“You gotta get ready Mr” you giggle, moving your foot so you could push him further away, ruining his plan B of pinning you down by your hips.
“Don’t remind me…”
His cold left hand hooks around your ankle, pushing at it until your knee hinged, bending up and out. A suspicious hardness presses against you, a wicked smile on your boyfriend’s face.
“I mean it Buck we can’t, Nat will be kicking that door down any minute” he groans at your words knowing that you are completely right. That lock had been replaced an embarrassing amount of times because of that exact situation. You hated rejecting him, knowing that he could easily put you back to sleep until midday if he wanted. After a small standoff between you both you warn him again, an arch in your brow and a growl behind his name.
“You’re such a little tease, you know that?”
You laugh, sitting up, watching him skulk around the room in nothing but his grey Calvin Kleins, “I haven’t done anything!”
“Sure you haven’t” he argues, moving over to you again, his metal fingers looping under your chin to tilt your head back to gaze up at him, “Looking so fucking sexy in the morning and I can’t fuck you stupid. That’s not teasing that’s damn near criminal.”
You groan, rolling your eyes at your pouty 106-year-old man. You inch closer to his mouth, a sickly sweet definitely not bratty smirk on your face. “Get your ass ready.”
“Fine…but only because you looked so fucking sexy ordering me around,”
“Bucky!” You shout after him, blush on your full cheeks. He only smirks over his shoulder, pushing his briefs to the floor at the entrance to the bathroom, giving you a full view of his posterior.
You get up too, knowing you had been awake too long to fall asleep again. You get ready with the shower as background noise, pulling on some workout clothes. Today you decided you’d try out the gym right here in the compound, you’d been to many different ones in the past; often polluted with the smell of days-old sweat and men reeking of testosterone, grunting and groaning at weights you could only dream of lifting.
An hour later, after waving Bucky off on his week-long mission you were in the gym.
“Hey” you smile as you pass Sharon, her blonde hair whipping as she ducks and weaves to dodger imaginary punches the bag throws out before throwing a couple of her own. She offers you a tight-lipped smile, her eyes straying from your face down your body. She takes note of your long top and shorts that settle around mid-thigh compared to her sports bra and tiny shorts — her flat stomach and sculpted legs on display.
God you wish you had just as much ventilation. Just as you go to place your earphones in your ears you hear a scoff coming from Sharon’s direction. You pay it no mind, setting the treadmill for a nice incline and pace, pressing the timer until it shone with the time you wanted.
The treadmill slowed for the cooldown. Your eyes moved from the display in front to glance over your shoulder, the gym was empty. You grab your bottle only to realise thanks to your distraction you'd finished off your water. You stop the treadmill and hop off, making a beeline for the kitchen. The walk to the kitchen from the gym wasn’t that long but with the feeling of your sweat culminating in places you didn’t want it to be it was almost torturous.
“I couldn’t believe it when I saw her,”
A gaggle of hushed laughs comes from the kitchen, stopping you. A familiar dread coils in your stomach, reminding you of when you were young, the children pointing and laughing — joking at your expense.
“she must been on that treadmill for about five minutes and she was all like huff huff” she laughs obnoxiously “Her face was like a big tomato, I almost died trying to keep myself from laughing” Sharon continues.
The group cackles again at your expense, almost doubling as Sharon makes the huffing noise again. You cling to your shirt, pulling it from sticking to your body. These women you thought were friends did just what everyone else did.
“She’s pathetic, I don’t know what Bucky sees in her” Your heart stops. That little devil on your jumps and cheers at the confirmation of what it has been telling you since the start of your relationship with Bucky. You were never enough.
“I can’t wait for him to dump her once he gets sick of her wide load.”
Tears fall on their own accord but you don't register them, too busy inside your head being suffocated by every doubt and self-conscious thought you ever had since you confessed your feelings for the super soldier. You didn't deserve Bucky and everyone thought that too.
Back at your room, freshly clean. You scrolled through your messages from Bucky. The little hearts next to his messages no longer felt genuine like he was only doing it merely to save your feelings from being hurt. You were nothing but a burden that he was forced to bear; it wouldn’t be long before like Sharon said, he got sick of the clinginess and the need for reassurance and broke up with you.
Well, you weren’t going to be a burden any longer. You wouldn’t let him break your heart first. You turned your phone off, tucking it into your bedside drawer.
—
“Bucky wait!” Sam calls from the quinjet but it goes ignored. Bucky’s face is twisted in annoyance as he takes wide, purposeful steps towards the tower doors. He was going to find you and you were going to tell him why the fuck you were ignoring him.
He ignores the shouts of his name as Nat, Steve and Sam follow him indoors, smashing the elevator button with his thumb and stepping inside. Once on your floor, he stormed like a charging bull to your room, slamming a gloved fist on your door in a poor excuse for a knock.
The loud knocking from the other end of the room had you jumping back in your seat, the slee overtaking you gone in an instant. Your heart lurched at the familiar face, worn from exhaustion and malice clear from the scrunching of his forehead and tick in his cheek muscle.
“Oh hello, where have you been?” Bucky snaps, glaring down at you as you use the door as a shield from his scrutinising eyes. Here it comes, the moment you’d prepared for all week. You don’t think you’ll go back to dating apps, too many weird me—
“You know how worried I was when you didn't answer me all week?”
Huh. “Huh?”
“‘Huh?’ Are you joking? You ghosted me, left me scared to death on a mission halfway across the globe and all you can say to me is huh!” His blue eyes glisten and you look at them closer. There was no anger there, only concern and fear culminating in swirls across his blue orbs, rearing its head in rage across Bucky’s face.
“Bucky I—” you try but you can’t find the words, each syllable sticks in your throat, balling up until it feels like you can no longer breathe. The week of bottled-up emotions spills forth at the sight of him — at the revelation that he was utterly terrified. Tears fall from your eyes before you know it, your lip wobbling as you keep trying to speak.
Bucky’s shoulders tense at the sight of tiny tears falling over your full cheeks, guilt replacing his earlier pain,
“Fuck c’mere baby” he pulls you close, bending at an almost uncomfortable angle just to hold you as close as humanly possible.
“I'm so sorry for being so annoyed but you have to see why I was so scared something had happened to you. You left me on read for an entire week and blanked my calls. That isn’t you, you know how scary that was for me?” He whispers so softly, backing you up to sit on your bed.
In his arms, surrounded by his warmth and scent the week you had fell from your mouth like alphabet soup, from the gym to Sharon to how hard it was to ignore your phone knowing that Bucky would’ve been calling you every single day but you did it to protect your own heart. Nothing was kept a secret.
“I’ll kill her,” he growls when you finish, muscles tightening even more around you.
“Buck.”
“Right…sorry, I won't kill her” He lied between his teeth, well sort of. He wouldn’t actually kill Sharon but he knew you'd be upset if he did anything to her which he was indeed planning to do but to save you any more pain for the evening, to keep that teeny tiny smile on your face he lied.
“What makes her think she has any fucking right to speak on other people’s appearance anyway?”
“She wasn't lying…” it came out in the tiniest little voice, maybe your way of silently hoping he didn't hear it and he wouldn’t have if it weren't for his super soldier ears.
Gripping onto your wrists Bucky flipped your world in an instant, the breath leaving your lungs as your back makes contact with the bed, your wrists caught on either side of your head.
“Are you lying to me doll?” He says, raising a brow at you.
“No…”
“You are! You're lying right to my face,” he argues, pressing your wrists further into the mattress below. Your eyes fall shut as his face inches closer to yours.
“Look at me princess,” he waits until you open both eyes again, looking up at him as if he strung the stars in the sky “There is not a single thing that I'd change about you and I mean that. I fell in love with you the way you are now, you aren't some bitch that gets off on making fun of others. I fell head over damn heels for you because you are you.”
His eyes sparkle with adoration, his hands running up and down your body softly. The juxtaposition of metal on one side and warmth on the other sends shivers up your spine.
“I love you,” he breathes, leaning down again till your lips graze his. A teasing smile pulled on the pink corners of his mouth, a similar glint in his eyes, “you know that right?”
“Yes,” you nod, pushing up to close the distance between your mouths but he pulls away.
“I don't think you do,”
“I do Buck I promise.”
“Well…” he began, the glint in his eyes dulling as want engulfed the colour, “let me make sure.”
Bucky takes his time. He has to knowing that you're feeling small. Slowly his lips slot with yours, ushering out sweet little sounds to replace the broken ones that still thrum fresh in his mind.
“I love you,” he says again, capturing your hitched gasp with his tongue as he pushes it past the seam of your mouth, the tip flicking against your own to entice it to mingle. Slowly but surely the tension drips from your shoulders, your arms moving from his grip to trail up over his rigid stomach and chest. They sink below the shoulder pads of his jacket, pushing it off his broad frame and onto the floor beside the bed. Your hands paw at the exposed skin on his arm, fingers squeezing, nails scraping over the corded muscle.
“All of yours…all of it.”
Each time the seal of your mouths broke you chase them, planting kisses teeming with nothing but raw desire onto kiss-bitten lips. The words that Sharon said are long gone from your mind now, replaced by the man in front of you. Everything you smell, taste, touch and see — it's all him.
The brunette slips off his glove; his warm and cold, metal hand grips your hips, pulling you up into his lap with a squeak.
“You feel that?” He grunts, moving from your mouth down your face to your neck. His lips suck and his teeth nibble, marking you, proving to anyone around that dare dispute his love for you again. With undeniable strength he grinds you down into a sizeable bulge poking from his tight jeans, he hisses at the contact, letting a hand fall to your ass with a small spank.
Your arousal seeps through your thin panties making them stick to your dainty folds; your clit buzzes at the delicious scratch the metal of his zip brings you — a gasp catching in your throat every time your neglected nub catches the pull tab.
As much as he worshiped the way you dry-humped his cock, soaking the front of his jeans. Bucky is desperate. After a week of no contact, not even a tiny emoji heart never mind a raunchy photo, he needs something — anything. And he's going to get it.
“Get on the bed” he demands, pushing at you ever so slightly. “Panties off.”
You do as you are told, fingers frantically hooking into the waistband of your underwear, rolling the material over your thick thighs until they hook around a single ankle.
“Spread those legs for me baby, lemme see that sweet little cunt.”
You hesitate for a second, your legs twitching to open but knees knocking again as you close them. Blown pupils snap onto your face his jaw clenched hard and his nostrils flared. Before you can react his calloused hands settle gently, luring you into a false sense of security.
They soothe down your thighs as his blue eyes study you. Inch by inch his dull nails tap over your beautifully wide thighs until he's back at your kneecaps. With a soft unassuming smile, bucky pushes your legs wide, a rush of oxygen leaving you as your sopping folds are exposed to the cool air of the room. He doesn't give you a chance to breathe before a warm hand smacks over your wet folds, your body jerks, an unabashed moan flying from your parted lips.
“Don't fucking deny me this” he growls, fire roaring in his eyes. “You ghosted me for a week, now you're gonna lie there all pretty and let me eat this sweet fucking cunt.”
You nod, biting your lip. At the first presence of him between your legs, his hot breath billowing over your labia, your eyes roll into the back of your skull. Over each fold, ridge and crevice his breath fans, a shiver rolling over your spine each time; without warning he lays his tongue flat and wide, licking a strip from hole to clit. His tongue disappears and he does it again, guttural sounds falling from him at your taste mixing with the sharp trills you let out.
“Sing for me baby, let me know how good I'm making that pretty pussy feel” He delves in like a man starved, devouring your cunt as though it were his first and last ever meal on earth. He'd die happily if it were.
You were a mess, a mess of pleading cries. Your legs shake against his powerful hold, your hands grip his unruly brunette locks. Letting his hands drop from your thighs he stops his slurping to lay a soft, sweet peck on your raw clit. He smiles up at you, his face glistening with your juices visible thanks to the city lights peeking in through your open windows. Your mind wandered, wondering if the people in the building across could see the way Bucky fucked his tongue into you, curling the long muscle up to press against that ridged spot on your upper walls — he hit it with ease every time.
Using your distraction as an advantage bucky moves a hand to join his mouth, sliding his fingers in alongside his tongue for a second before he pulls his tongue from you. He moves, looming over you with a massive shit-eating grin at how much he unravelled you. you should've been embarrassed at how wet his face was; slick ran from his stubbled upper lip over and below his chin. You had done that to him and he wore it proudly. His fingers push deeper and curl out, coaxing the coils in your stomach to snap.
“Come on baby I know you feel it” he speeds up, the sound of your messy pussy almost as loud as your harsh breaths and whimpers.
“Buckyyy” you squeal, gripping at anything you can.
“That's it, baby…you're squeezing around my fingers, are you gonna cum?”
You nod but it's not enough for your man. He dips, nipping at a pebbled nipple and that's all it takes for those tightly coiled ropes to pull taut and snap. A sound you've never heard from yourself erupts from your lungs, your fingers clutching at bucky, the sheets, anything. Stars peppered your vision, blocking out the smug image of your boyfriend, blood rushing in your ears muffling his words of praise.
“Come back to me baby, that's it, good girl. such a good girl” Bucky coos, his fingers slipping out to rub lazily at your clit. He keeps going until you jerk harshly in his hold.
“You did so well, such a good fucking girl cumming like that for me” He praises, kissing your cheek and then your mouth, a smirk pulling at his lips when you moan at your taste.
You flash him a big dopey smile in return, your eyes hazy and your plump little cheeks flushed. You look gorgeous; Bucky had seen many things in his long drawn-out life but nothing could ever compare to how you looked fucked out beneath him.
He would stay like this forever…if his cock wasn't aching for release.
He stands, fiddling with his belt and fly until it comes loose. He wastes no time in pushing them both past his round ass and onto the floor, his cock springing free. His shirt goes next, thrown somewhere in your small room letting you get the full experience of what Bucky had to offer you. Layers of corded muscle ripple beneath his silky but scarred skin, his chest peppered in tiny curly hairs that sink below his sternum and over his abs where they begin to thicken until they finish, well trimmed at the base of his thick, heavy cock.
His eyes never stray from your body as he takes himself in his hand, pumping once, twice, his thumb catching the precum leaking from his tip. He kneels back between your welcoming legs, rubbing his slick thumb over your lips. A hushed chuckle vibrates in his chest as you suck the thumb into your mouth, eagerly licking his taste from the digit.
“Such a dirty girl,” you giggle, pulling back until his thumb slips out of your mouth with a pop. “Do you think you can handle one more hm? Can you let me fuck that little hole?”
“yes Buck” you smile, your eyes falling shut as he kisses you again.
“good girl” he growls, moving your legs over his own before grabbing a pillow to squish under your hips. With one hand he pushes the head of his length through your mess, dipping into your hole before running back up over your clit. He does it a few times, occasionally slapping his cock against you, praising each tiny sound you let out.
“Please Buck” You toss your head back, grinding your hips up to meet nothing. At this rate, you were going to come to nothing more than his teasing.
“Please what?” Oh he's a piece of shit. He knows what you want because he wants it too. He waits for a beat, enjoying your huffs of frustration. “Tell me and I'll do it.”
With the last of your sanity, you cry out, “fuck me buck ple—ah”
You slap a hand over your mouth as he spears into you, stretching you like he does time and time again. It never gets any easier with a size like Bucky’s; his tip kissing your cervix with each thrust and your walls sing at the almost painful stretch.
Bucky’s thrusts are delightfully slow, letting you feel each drag and push, each rigid vein on his pulsing cock. There is no fucking involved, he's making love, making sure you know that he would spend eternity wrapped up in your body no matter what size you are. The deep coloured marks along your neck and between your thighs would attest to that.
“Fuck” he moans, mouth gaping. “Don't think ill last long princess” His vibranium fingers fall to your soft belly, skating over the smooth skin to your full hip.
He squeezes hard enough to leave marks, “fucking mine.”
His thrusts speed up, his head snapping back and eyes rolling. His balls bounce rhythmically against your ass, the bulbous head of his cock smashing into the end of your cunt where a dull ache forms — a warning of future hurt when you wake tomorrow. You don't care, not when his free hand dips between you both, pulling back the hood of your sensitive nub and flicking it over and over.
He feels the way you tighten around him, holding him in a vice grip, “hold it princess, just a little longer come on”
“I can't Bucky please” you whimper in response.
“Yes, you can baby—oh fuck I'm close” his weight falls atop yours, smothering you in him. His hips stutter, his balls pulling up towards his body.
“Cum now, soak my big fucking dick.”
The slamming of the headboard ceases when his thrusts slow to shallow grinding, his mouth swallows any sounds you let out.
“Such a good fucking girl for me—shit” he sighs, slips from you with a hiss.
“Buck—”
“Shh pretty girl you're alright” he holds you close for a while, holding you tight to his broad body. Tears fall from your cheeks but he swipes them away. You don't know why you ever doubted Bucky, he's the only constant in your life.
“I love you” He whispers as the blood rushing in your ears settles, running through your veins in exhaustion.
“I love you too”
“Don't you ever listen to those idiots again, because I will show you over and over what you mean to me” Bucky promises with a kiss on the crown of your head.
You smile, laying your own lazy kiss over your thumping heart. You like the sound of that.

Hey hey, since you’re doing requests, can I request zoro x reader (established relationship) where it’s a recreation of this scene: https://x.com/kyoruyeye/status/1735320235572679085?s=46&t=b1QQ53SU-R7bOOFwRYV3zA
I don’t know, the thought of zoro being like, really injured and reader trying to give him water that way since she doesn’t have another way to bring it to him to help him, but all he wants is to kiss her desperately is just aaaAAHHH
A/N: Hiiiii I finally got around to this the holidays are kicking my ass I do hope you enjoy!! I love desperate kisses so so much so I had a lot of fun writing this <3<3<3
Zoro sits in the aftermath of an exhausting battle, the moonlight shining its soft rays onto his features. His chest heaves as the adrenaline wears off as both of you bare marks of the battle– cuts and bruises littering your figures as evidence of how rough the battle was. Despite the evident damage on both of your bodies, it was clear that Zoro had taken most of the hits, as shown by the way his chest rapidly rises and falls, or the way he can’t stand, or the sheer amount of blood he had lost.
As your own breathing calms down, the need for water hits like a ton of bricks. Scanning the area, your eyes land on an open flask, its contents trickling onto the ground. Hope surges within you, and without hesitation, you scoop water into your hands. You fill your own mouth with water to satiate your own needs, and you scoop up some more, but as you turn to offer Zoro some relief, the precious liquid slips through the cracks of your fingers, leaving you with a growing sense of helplessness.
The lingering determination to help the green-haired man rushes within you, and you decide to give Zoro the moisture he so desperately needs. Leaning in, you pressed your lips to his, initiating a kiss that carried a hope to relieve and help him. The unexpected move catches Zoro off guard, but he meets your lips with a sense of gratitude, his calloused hands cupping your face as he accepts the gesture.
As you pull away, relief washes over Zoro's features, and you sigh at the same time. But before words could leave your mouth, Zoro captures your lips once more, his kiss now filled with a newfound desperation. It was as if something had snapped within him, unleashing a desire that went beyond the mere need for water—it was a visceral hunger for you.
Breaking the kiss, you gasp for air and break the silence with, "Wait, I don't have more water," but your words are swallowed by the feeling of his lips on yours once again.
The kiss deepens, Zoro's tongue parting your lips with a passion that was filled with that intense desire for you. His hands, rough and calloused, cradles your face, the contrast between his strength and the tenderness of the kiss creating an intense intimacy. Your hands grasp the collar of his shirt as you attempt to steady yourself.
Zoro breaks the heated kiss to murmur against your lips, "Your mouth's too small, that's why... it's not enough." But just as you attempt to catch your breath and respond, Zoro's lips found yours once more. The kiss tastes of salt mixed with the lingering metallic tang of blood. One of Zoro's hands snakes around your waist, pulling you closer, his touch possessive and tender. As the kiss continues, the moonlight casts a soft glow on the two of you locked in this intimate moment. The need for anything else overshadows the need for this kiss, and the world around you two fades away as you find bliss in each other's lips.

The Devil's Bride
Aurora Jaeger, Eren's long-lost childhood friend, was taken from him when they were children. After years of suffering under Marleyan control, Aurora is reunited with Eren while he’s undercover in Marley, igniting a bond neither of them expected. Despite her gentle nature, Aurora breaks her vow of pacifism to save Eren’s life, solidifying their deep connection. Secretly married before the Raid on Liberio, Aurora is swept into Eren's world of chaos and destruction. As the Scouts learn of her existence, tensions rise on the airship home. Mikasa’s heart shatters, and Levi demands answers. And Eren will stop at nothing to protect the only light left in his dark world—his bride, Aurora.
In this journey of love, loyalty, and war, Aurora must reconcile her innocent heart with the brutal reality of the man she loves, while Eren faces the truth of what he’s become. (Eren x OC)
Chapter Thirty
Aurora lay nestled against Eren’s chest, their shared warmth cocooning her in a sense of safety she hadn’t felt in weeks. The first rays of dawn peeked through the curtains, painting the room in soft golden hues. Eren’s breathing was deep and steady, his arms wrapped firmly yet gently around her, as though he could shield her from the rest of the world.
But Aurora was far away in her dreams.
She was back in the cabin in Marley—their cabin. It was a serene scene, as though the chaos of the world outside had melted away, leaving only peace and happiness. The sound of a crackling fire filled the cozy space, and Aurora found herself sitting on a plush chair, cradling a newborn baby in her arms. The baby’s tiny fists waved in the air as soft coos escaped its lips. Aurora couldn’t stop staring at the infant’s features: the wisps of platinum blonde hair, the piercing green eyes so reminiscent of Eren’s. Her heart swelled with an overwhelming sense of love and completeness.
Eren knelt in front of her, his eyes softer than she had ever seen them. He reached out, his fingers brushing lightly against the baby’s cheek before leaning in to press a kiss to Aurora’s temple. Everything was perfect.
But then, a shadow caught Aurora’s attention from the edge of the forest visible through the cabin window. Her gaze snapped to the figure of a woman standing just beyond the treeline. The woman had long, golden blonde hair with a headband that framed her hauntingly pale face. Her eyes were unsettling—completely white, devoid of pupils or irises, like empty voids staring directly at Aurora.
Aurora’s breath hitched. She instinctively tightened her hold on the baby, who let out a soft whimper. The woman took a single step toward the cabin, her movements slow and deliberate, her gaze never wavering. A chill ran down Aurora’s spine.
And then, just as suddenly as the woman appeared, Aurora woke up.
Her eyes flew open, her chest rising and falling rapidly as she tried to catch her breath. Eren was still beside her, his arm draped protectively over her waist, but the room felt colder, emptier. Aurora’s pulse thundered in her ears as she turned her head slightly—and froze.
At the corner of the bed stood a child.
The child had golden blonde hair, just like the woman from her dream, and wore the same headband and a simple white tattered dress that seemed so worn. Her eyes were fixed on Aurora, wide and unblinking, with an intensity that sent a shiver through her. Aurora’s gaze followed the direction of the child’s stare and realized it was aimed directly at her belly, where Eren’s hand rested protectively.
Aurora blinked rapidly, her breath catching in her throat as she rubbed her eyes. When she looked again, the child was gone. The space where she had stood was empty, the room eerily silent save for the sound of Eren’s breathing.
Aurora sat up slightly, her movements stirring Eren from his sleep. His eyes fluttered open, and his voice, husky with sleep, broke the quiet. “Aurora?” he murmured, his arms tightening around her waist. “What’s wrong?”
Aurora hesitated, her mind racing. What had she just seen? She could still feel the piercing gaze of the child lingering in the back of her mind. After a moment, she took a deep breath and turned to Eren. “I… I thought I saw someone in the room,” she admitted, her voice barely above a whisper. “A child. She had blonde hair.”
Eren frowned and sat up fully, glancing around the room. His protective instincts flared as his eyes scanned every corner, but the space was empty. “There’s no one here,” he said softly, his brow furrowed as he turned back to her. “Are you sure it wasn’t a dream?”
“I don’t know,” Aurora admitted, running a hand through her hair. “Maybe it was just my imagination. I’ve been through so much lately. I could just be stressed, or maybe—maybe it was a hallucination.”
Eren’s frown deepened, worry etched into his features. He reached out, his hands gently cupping Aurora’s face as he tilted her head to meet his gaze. “You’ve been through a lot, but I don’t want to take any chances. Maybe we should see the doctor, just to make sure everything’s okay. Especially with the baby.”
Aurora opened her mouth to protest but stopped when she saw the genuine concern in Eren’s eyes. He wasn’t just worried about the baby—he was worried about her, about everything she had endured. She nodded reluctantly. “Alright. We’ll go.”
Eren leaned forward, pressing a soft kiss to her forehead. “We’re going to be okay,” he murmured against her skin, his voice full of quiet determination. “I’ll make sure of it.”
Aurora leaned into him, her unease still lingering, but Eren’s presence was enough to ground her. Whatever was happening—whatever she had seen—they would face it together.
…
On the other side of the island, the shoreline of Paradis was quiet, save for the crashing waves against the jagged rocks. Reiner sat slumped on a boulder, his head in his hands, his chest heaving as he struggled to control his spiraling thoughts. He was now physically healed, but his mind remained shattered. Each failure stacked upon the last, suffocating him under its weight. His fingers dug into his scalp, trembling with the realization of what they had lost.
Pieck paced nearby, her usually calm demeanor cracking as her anxiety seeped through. Her long, dark hair swayed as she turned sharply, glaring at the empty horizon. "Porco ran off. He left us," she muttered bitterly, her tone low and strained. "What was he thinking? Falling in love with—" She cut herself off, her fists clenching tightly. "The Queen of the Walls, of all people. What a disaster."
Reiner's head shot up, his face pale and drenched in sweat. "We failed, Pieck," he rasped, his voice shaky. "Again. First Liberio, now this. We couldn’t get Aurora Jaeger. We couldn’t kill Historia. And now… Porco’s gone. They’re going to strip me of my Titan." His voice cracked, and he looked at her with wild eyes. "Gabi. They’ll give it to her. I can’t let that happen, Pieck."
Pieck froze mid-step, her sharp gaze softening as she saw Reiner’s panic deepen. She walked over and crouched in front of him, placing her hands firmly on his knees. "Reiner," she said sternly, forcing him to meet her gaze. "Pull yourself together. Panicking like this isn’t going to help. You’re stronger than this, and you know it."
Reiner’s lip quivered as memories of Gabi and Falco back in the internment zone in Marley flooded his mind. He slammed his fist against the rock beside him. "What good am I if I keep failing? I couldn’t protect Bertholdt. I couldn’t save Marcel. And now I’ve doomed Gabi to this life if we go back empty-handed. Marley thinks I’m weak, unstable… and maybe they’re right!"
Without hesitation, Pieck slapped him hard across the face. The sharp sound echoed across the shore, and Reiner froze, blinking in shock.
"Enough," Pieck hissed, her voice uncharacteristically harsh. She grabbed him by the collar of his shirt, pulling him closer. "We don’t have the luxury to fall apart, Reiner. Not now. Yes, we failed this mission. Yes, Porco abandoned us. But do you think sitting here whining about it will fix anything? We have people waiting for us in Marley. My father, your family—Falco and Gabi! Do you think they’ll be safe if we don’t return?"
Reiner swallowed hard, her words piercing through his despair. He nodded slowly, though his body still trembled.
Pieck let go of his collar and sat back, brushing the sand from her uniform. Her voice softened, but her resolve remained firm. "We need to think about the bigger picture. Marley is still planning their attack on Paradis with the global allied forces. That’s our chance to redeem ourselves. We’ll go back, report what we’ve learned, and make sure our loved ones are safe. Then we fight again when the time comes."
Reiner stared at her, conflicted. "You’re different, Pieck. They still value you. Marley doesn’t think you’re a failure like they do me."
Pieck rolled her eyes and stood, brushing her hands on her pants. "If Marley values me so much, why do they keep sending me on these suicide missions? I’m just as expendable as you, Reiner. The difference is I refuse to let them define my worth." She reached down and yanked him to his feet, her grip firm. "And neither should you."
Reiner wavered, but Pieck’s unyielding determination anchored him. He took a deep breath and steadied himself, though the fear still lingered in his eyes. "What do we do about Porco?" he asked hesitantly.
Pieck’s face darkened, her lips pressing into a thin line. "We’ll have to report what happened, but we focus on what’s ahead. Porco made his choice, and we can’t waste time chasing after him. Right now, our priority is survival."
Reiner nodded reluctantly. He glanced back at the forest where Porco had disappeared, a mix of regret and worry etched into his features. "I hope he knows what he’s doing."
Pieck’s voice softened. "I do too. But we can’t wait for him. Let’s move."
Together, the two of them boarded the small, discreet ship they had hidden upon their arrival. As the vessel crept away from Paradis, Reiner stood at the edge, watching the island shrink in the distance. His chest ached, not from his injuries but from the weight of his failures and the uncertainty of their future.
Pieck stood beside him, her gaze fixed ahead. "This isn’t over," she murmured, more to herself than to him. "We’ll get another chance."
Reiner didn’t respond. Instead, he closed his eyes, his mind racing with doubts, fears, and fleeting hope. For now, they were alive, but what awaited them in Marley was a battle of its own.
…
Eren and Aurora sat in the small examination room at the Jaegerist compound. The air was sterile, the faint scent of antiseptic hanging around them as they waited for the doctor to finish his routine checkup. Eren’s arms were crossed, his foot tapping softly against the tiled floor, while Aurora reclined on the examination bed. Her hand rested protectively over her abdomen, a subtle yet growing curve that signified their child.
The doctor, a man with graying hair and an air of quiet authority, adjusted his glasses as he finished taking notes. “Everything looks good so far,” he said, his voice calm and professional. “Your baby is developing well, but…” He paused, his gaze flicking to Eren, then back to Aurora. “You need to be extremely cautious moving forward.”
Aurora straightened slightly, her brow furrowing. “Is something wrong?” she asked, her voice tinged with worry.
“No, nothing is wrong, per se,” the doctor clarified. “But you’ve been under a lot of stress and in high-risk situations. You’re now 16 weeks pregnant, which means your baby is entering a critical phase of development. Stress and physical strain could potentially lead to complications, and the first trimester is when mothers are most vulnerable to miscarriage.”
The words hit both Eren and Aurora like a physical blow. Aurora’s hand instinctively tightened over her belly, while Eren’s eyes widened in alarm. His foot stopped tapping, and he sat up straighter, every muscle in his body taut.
“Miscarriage?” Eren repeated, his voice quiet but tense, as if he were afraid saying it aloud would make it real.
The doctor nodded solemnly. “I’m not saying it’s likely, but it’s possible if precautions aren’t taken. You need to rest more, avoid unnecessary stress, and stay away from dangerous situations.” He glanced at Eren pointedly. “That’s on both of you.”
Eren gave a stiff nod, his jaw clenched tightly. Aurora swallowed hard, forcing a small smile to reassure the doctor. “I’ll do my best,” she promised softly.
“Good. I’ll leave you two to talk,” the doctor said, standing and gathering his notes. He nodded politely before leaving the room, shutting the door behind him.
The silence that followed was heavy. Aurora glanced at Eren, noticing the way his hands were balled into fists on his knees. He wasn’t just tense—he was radiating guilt.
“Eren?” she asked gently, reaching for his hand.
He didn’t meet her gaze at first. Instead, he stared at the floor, his voice low and strained. “This… this isn’t the life you’re supposed to have. Titans, war, blood… all of this.” He finally looked up, his sea-green eyes dark with emotion. “I hate that this is the world I’ve brought you into. And now, our baby… They don’t deserve this.”
Aurora’s heart ached at his words. “Eren—”
“I’m supposed to protect you,” he cut her off, his voice growing louder. “You’re pregnant, Aurora, and I still let you face Levi by yourself. I should’ve been there. I should’ve stopped him. But I couldn’t, and you—” He stopped, his throat tightening as he looked away again, his voice breaking. “You could’ve died. You could’ve lost our baby.”
Aurora slid off the examination bed, moving to kneel in front of him. She cradled his face in her hands, forcing him to look at her. “Eren,” she said firmly, her voice steady despite the tears welling in her eyes. “You’ve never failed me. Not once. You’ve been my protector and my provider since the day you found me. Even before that, back in Shiganshina, you were always looking out for me. You’ve done everything you can for me and for this baby.”
Eren closed his eyes, leaning into her touch. Her thumbs brushed against his cheeks, and the warmth of her hands steadied his racing thoughts. “It doesn’t feel like enough,” he whispered. “You deserve so much more than this.”
Aurora smiled softly, leaning forward to press a gentle kiss to his forehead. “You’re enough for me,” she said quietly. “You always have been. And I’m your wife—I’ll always have your back, no matter what. That’s what we do for each other.”
Eren opened his eyes, searching hers for any trace of doubt. But all he saw was the unwavering love and trust she always carried for him. It was humbling, grounding, and it made his chest ache with gratitude. He leaned forward, pressing his lips to hers in a deep, lingering kiss. Aurora responded immediately, her arms wrapping around his neck as she pulled him closer.
When they finally broke apart, Aurora rested her forehead against his, their breaths mingling in the quiet room. “We’re going to get through this, Eren,” she said softly. “We’re going to survive this war, and we’re going to give our baby the peaceful life they deserve.”
Eren’s lips curved into a small, hesitant smile as he gave her a gentle kiss. They stayed there for a moment, holding each other as the weight of the world outside the examination room faded into the background. For now, all that mattered was this moment, their love, and the promise of a future they would fight for with everything they had.
They were completely lost in each other when a soft, barely audible sound came from just outside the door.
Unbeknownst to either of them, Levi stood just on the other side, leaning heavily on his crutches. His legs were still healing, and though Aurora had insisted he stay in the wheelchair for support, Levi’s pride wouldn’t allow it. He refused to look like a helpless invalid. So, with a stubborn determination, he’d hobbled across the compound to find Eren. It was time for the boy to make good on his promise to free Hange and the others from their crystal prisons. But as Levi reached for the handle, he caught snippets of Eren’s voice and paused, listening.
At first, Levi felt annoyance creeping in. He hadn’t come all this way to waste time listening to their pillow talk. But the more he listened, the more he heard the raw emotion in Eren’s voice—his guilt, his fears, and the deep, unwavering love he held for Aurora. Levi sighed softly, resting his forehead against the doorframe. Those two brats really did love each other, he thought grudgingly. As much as Levi wanted to roll his eyes, he couldn’t deny the truth.
Aurora had guts—she was braver than most men he knew, and he had no choice but to respect that. She’d stood up to him, nearly killed him, and somehow also saved his life. And then there was Eren. As much as the kid could be infuriating, it was clear that he’d burn the entire world down for Aurora without hesitation.
Levi straightened, adjusting his crutches, and gave the door a sharp knock. “Oi, lovebirds,” he called dryly, pushing the door open.
Eren and Aurora jumped apart like teenagers caught by a parent. Aurora’s cheeks flushed a deep red, and Eren scowled, running a hand through his disheveled hair.
“Captain,” Eren muttered, trying to regain his composure. “What are you doing here?”
Levi leaned against the doorway, his usual deadpan expression firmly in place. “I came to get you. You’ve got promises to keep, Jaeger. It’s time to free Hange and the others.” His sharp eyes flicked to Aurora, then back to Eren. “Unless, of course, you’re too busy.”
Aurora buried her face in her hands, trying to hide her embarrassment, while Eren shot Levi an annoyed glare. “I’m coming,” he grumbled.
But Levi wasn’t done. “And by the way,” he added, his tone clipped, “that red-headed shit-face you call your second in command has already led the Jaegerists out on their hunt for the Cart, Jaw, and Armored Titans. Thought you’d want to know.”
Eren’s jaw tightened, and he stood, helping Aurora to her feet. “Floch,” he muttered under his breath. “Thanks for letting me know, Levi.”
Levi’s eyes narrowed, but before he could say anything else, Aurora spotted his crutches and immediately placed her hands on her hips. “Captain,” she said in a tone that reminded him too much of a scolding mother, “why aren’t you in your wheelchair? You’re going to hurt yourself wobbling around on those crutches!”
Levi turned his attention to her, arching a brow. “Don’t tell me how to live my life, you poisonous brat,” he snapped back. “Besides, I’m not ‘wobbling.’ I’m walking.”
Aurora let out a long sigh, pinching the bridge of her nose. “You’re so stubborn.”
“And you’re annoying,” Levi countered with a smirk, adjusting his crutches as he stepped further into the room.
Eren groaned, already feeling the tension building. “Will you two stop it?” he said, stepping between them. “Captain, I’ll take care of Floch and the Jaegerists later. Right now, we need to focus on freeing Armin and the others. And Aurora…” He turned to his wife, his voice softening. “We should probably head back and rest afterward. You’ve been on your feet too much lately.”
Aurora gave Eren a small, grateful smile, nodding as she placed a hand on his arm. Levi scoffed, turning toward the hallway. “Come on, lovebirds. We’ve got work to do.”
As the trio left the examination room, Levi couldn’t help but glance back at Eren and Aurora. Their bond was undeniably strong, and though he’d never admit it aloud, Levi was glad they had each other. If anyone was going to survive the chaos ahead, it would be them.
As they made their way down the winding staircase to the basement, where Mikasa was already waiting with Historia. The air was thick with tension, each step echoing loudly in the quiet stone chamber. Aurora’s eyes softened as soon as she saw Historia standing by the crystal, her composed demeanor belying the storm of emotions Aurora knew must be swirling within her.
Aurora stepped forward, her tone gentle. “Historia, how are you holding up? After…everything with the Jaw titan, I mean. That’s…a lot.”
Historia offered a faint smile, the type that didn’t quite reach her eyes. “I’m fine, Aurora. I have to be.” Her voice was calm, steady, but there was an underlying edge of exhaustion. “I don’t have the luxury of falling apart. Not now.”
Aurora wanted to press further, to tell Historia it was okay to lean on her, but before she could, Mikasa’s sharp eyes flicked to Levi, hobbling on crutches instead of sitting in the wheelchair Aurora had insisted he use. Her brow furrowed.
“Captain,” Mikasa scolded, crossing her arms. “You’re supposed to be in your wheelchair. What are you doing walking around on crutches? You could seriously hurt yourself.”
Levi scowled and snapped back at her, “I don’t need a lecture from you, I’m not a damn cripple! And if you all don’t stop pestering me, I’ll hit you with one of these damn crutches.”
Mikasa blinked, stunned into silence for a moment before her own irritation flared. “This is the thanks I get after dragging your short, sorry ass around for a month? I kept you alive, Captain. You’re welcome.”
Levi’s glare deepened as he muttered, “I’d rather be dead than listen to this nonsense.”
Mikasa shot back, “Then maybe you should’ve taken better care of yourself instead of getting poisoned by—”
“Can we just focus?” Eren growled, pinching the bridge of his nose. He glanced at Aurora, who was barely suppressing a giggle at the back-and-forth between Levi and Mikasa. “We have bigger things to deal with.”
Levi snorted and adjusted his crutches. “Fine. Let’s get this over with.”
The group turned their attention to the massive crystal in the center of the room. The translucent structure encased their comrades—Hange, Armin, Jean, Connie, and Sasha—each of their bodies frozen in time. Their eyes were closed, their expressions peaceful, but everyone knew they had been conscious the entire time.
Eren took a step forward, the tension in the room thickening. “Everyone stand back,” he instructed, his voice firm. His eyes glowed with the power of the War Hammer Titan, the tendrils of energy wrapping around his arms as he activated its abilities. With one precise movement, he drove the power into the crystal, shattering it into a million glittering shards.
The scouts tumbled to the ground, coughing and gasping for air as the viscous fluid from the crystal clung to their clothes and hair. Jean was the first to recover, his chest heaving as he blinked rapidly, his gaze locking onto Eren.
Without a word, Jean staggered to his feet, clenched his fists, and marched straight to Eren. Before anyone could react, Jean’s fist collided with Eren’s face, sending the taller man stumbling back.
“You piece of shit!” Jean spat, his voice hoarse but seething with rage. “Do you have any idea what you’ve done? We were conscious the whole time! We heard everything, Eren! Every. Single. Word.”
Eren rubbed his jaw but didn’t retaliate, letting Jean vent his anger. Armin, Hange, Connie, and Sasha began to rise, their expressions ranging from fury to disbelief. The room was suddenly alive with questions and accusations.
“How could you do this to us, Eren?” Armin demanded, his blue eyes wide with hurt. “Trapping us in that crystal… it was inhumane!”
“You might as well had just killed us instead of that torture,” Sasha added, her voice shaking. “Locking us up like animals.”
“And we heard you, by the way,” Hange interjected, adjusting her glasses and glaring at Eren. “You came down here to vent your guilt while we were stuck in there like props.”
But then, one by one, they noticed Levi standing calmly on his crutches, Mikasa at his side. And there, next to them, stood Historia and Aurora—Eren’s wife. The room fell silent as they tried to process the scene before them.
Jean broke the silence first. “What the hell is going on here?” His tone was sharp, his eyes darting between Levi, Mikasa, and Eren. “Weren’t we against him?” He pointed at Eren. “And supposed to arrest her for killing the Premier?” His hand shifted to Aurora.
Levi rolled his eyes and leaned heavily on one crutch. “The situation’s changed,” he said bluntly, his tone leaving no room for argument.
“Changed how?” Hange asked, her hands on her hips, her expression incredulous. “You were the one most against Eren and Aurora! And now you’re just…standing here with them?”
Levi’s gaze turned steely. “I’d suggest you close your mouths and listen.” His voice was cold, commanding, and it silenced any further protests. “Here’s what’s happened in the last month: Aurora poisoned me—”
Connie interrupted with a low whistle. “Damn.”
“Shut up, you fool,” Levi snapped before continuing. “She poisoned me. She nearly killed me. But guess what? She also saved my life when she didn’t have to. While Mikasa and I were on the run, Floch decided to play hero and hunt us down against Eren’s orders.”
The group exchanged bewildered glances as Levi continued. “The Jaw, Cart, and Armored Titans ambushed us. They tried to kidnap Aurora and kill Historia. Oh, and in case you’re wondering, the Jaw Titan is in love with the Queen. It’s a shit show.” He gestured lazily toward Historia, whose face turned crimson.
Jean, Connie, Sasha, Hange, and Armin stared at Levi, their jaws practically on the floor. Connie broke the silence with a groan. “I need a stiff drink,” he muttered, rubbing his temples.
Levi smirked faintly, the corner of his mouth twitching. “Don’t we all,” he said dryly.
The room fell into a stunned silence, each person trying to process the whirlwind of revelations. Eren stood at the center of it all, his expression resolute but heavy. Levi continued to bring the scouts up to speed on what had happened in the last month and their expressons grew more stunned with every second that passed.
Finally, Jean found his voice, his tone sharp and accusatory. “So, let me get this straight, Eren. You’ve taken over the military—every branch—and your grand plan is to unleash the Rumbling? You’re actually serious?”
“Yes,” Eren replied firmly. His unwavering gaze met Jean’s, and though he spoke calmly, there was an edge to his voice. “I’m serious. The Rumbling is our only option.”
“The only option?” Hange snapped, her voice trembling with anger. She took a step closer, her hands clenching into fists. “You’re talking about genocide, Eren. Millions of people. Innocent people. Are you hearing yourself?”
“Those ‘innocent’ people want us dead,” Eren countered, his voice steady but carrying an undertone of bitterness. “The entire world sees us as devils. You’ve seen it with your own eyes. Marley’s already tried to destroy us, and they’ll keep trying. It’s us or them.”
“That’s a false choice!” Armin’s voice was louder than usual, shaking with desperation. He stepped forward, his fists tight at his sides. “We’ve always found another way, Eren! We’ve always fought to protect people without resorting to... to this! There’s got to be a way to make peace—”
“There is no peace!” Eren cut him off sharply, his voice echoing through the room. His expression hardened, and he took a step closer to Armin. “Do you think I haven’t tried to find another way? I’ve seen the future, Armin. I’ve seen what happens if we don’t act. If we don’t fight, they’ll destroy all of us. You, me, everyone we care about. They’ll kill Aurora. They’ll kill my child.”
At the mention of the baby, Sasha gasped softly, her wide eyes darting to Aurora, who stood silently beside Eren. Aurora’s expression was conflicted, and her hands rested protectively over her still-small baby bump. She didn’t speak, but the way her shoulders tensed showed how much weight she carried.
Levi, leaning on his crutches, let out a sharp breath and muttered under his breath, “Brats and their damn dramatics…”
Mikasa, standing quietly near Aurora, stiffened visibly at the mention of the Rumbling. Her eyes flicked to Eren, filled with a swirl of emotions—pain, confusion, and something unspoken. She didn’t agree with Eren’s plan, but she had also come to the same grim realization as Levi and Aurora: they had no other choice. Marley’s latest attack had only solidified that grim truth.
Hange looked between Eren and Aurora, her brows furrowed deeply in disbelief. “So, that’s it? You’ve decided for all of us? You’ve taken control, silenced your own comrades, and now you’re marching forward with a plan that’ll make you no different from Marley?”
Eren turned his intense gaze to her, his jaw tightening. “Hange, I don’t expect you to understand. But I’m doing this for us. For everyone in these walls. For Aurora. For my family. If we don’t fight, we’ll be wiped out. The Rumbling is the only way to make the world understand that they can’t touch us.”
Connie, usually the jokester of the group, stood frozen, his expression unreadable. Finally, he broke his silence, his voice shaking. “Eren... do you even hear yourself? You’re talking about killing millions of people. You’re not saving anyone. You’re becoming exactly what they think we are—monsters.”
Jean let out a bitter laugh, his hands on his hips. “And what happens after the Rumbling, huh? You flatten the world, and then what? Do you think people are just gonna bow down and worship you? That they’ll leave Paradis alone forever? Because they won’t, Eren. The hate will never stop. You’re just proving them right.”
Aurora spoke up then, her voice quiet but steady. “Jean… I don’t like this plan any more than you do. None of us do.” She glanced at Mikasa and Levi, who nodded grimly. “But Marley’s attack proved that we’re out of time. The whole world isn’t coming to Paradis to talk or negotiate. They’re coming to kill us. We either fight back, or we die.”
Sasha’s hands trembled as she spoke, her voice breaking. “But... genocide, Aurora? There’s got to be another way. This... this isn’t right.”
“Do you think I want this?” Aurora’s voice rose slightly, her emotions finally breaking through. “Do you think Eren does? We’re doing this because we have no other choice. If there were another way—any way—we’d take it. But there isn’t.”
Armin shook his head, his expression desperate. “There’s always another way. We just have to find it—”
“There’s no time,” Eren interrupted, his voice low but forceful. “Armin, I’ve already seen it. Every path leads to the same conclusion. If we don’t act now, we lose everything. We lose everyone. You can hate me all you want, but I won’t stand by and let that happen.”
The room fell into a heavy silence. Hange, Armin, Jean, Connie, and Sasha exchanged uneasy glances, their minds reeling from everything they’d just heard. None of them wanted to believe it, but the grim reality was staring them in the face.
Finally, Levi broke the silence, his tone as blunt as ever. “You don’t have to like it,” he said, addressing the group, “but you do have to face the facts. Marley and the rest of the world aren’t gonna stop coming for us. If you’ve got a better plan, let’s hear it. Otherwise, shut up and deal with it.”
Jean gritted his teeth, his fists clenched. “This is insane... but fine. Let’s hear what your next steps are, Jaeger.”
Eren nodded, his face hard but resolute. “First, we’ll regroup. Then, I’ll release the others from the crystal. After that... we’ll prepare for what’s coming. Together.”
Though the words hung heavy in the air, the group nodded slowly. There was no going back now. The battle for survival had only just begun.
Eren had laid bare his plan, and while the scouts were still reeling from the enormity of the Rumbling, the toll of being trapped in hardened crystal for so long had left them physically and mentally drained. Jean, Armin, Connie, Sasha, and Hange all needed rest and medical attention to recover fully.
They would pick up strategizing tomorrow. For now, it was clear that everyone needed to retreat to their quarters and recharge.
As the group dispersed, Aurora gently approached Hange, Armin, Jean, Connie, and Sasha. Her voice was soft but firm. “If you’ll let me, I can assess you all just to make sure you’re okay. Being in that crystal for so long... it must’ve taken a toll.”
The group hesitated, exchanging uneasy glances. It wasn’t lost on them that Aurora was the same woman who had poisoned Levi—and almost killed him. Jean raised an eyebrow skeptically. “You’re a poison expert, right? I don’t think we’re too eager to have you poking around.”
Aurora flinched at the reminder but kept her composure. “I understand why you’d feel that way. But I know what I’m doing, and I just want to make sure you’re okay. No tricks.”
The tension hung in the air until Levi, still leaning on his crutches, grumbled, “Quit being idiots and let her check you out. If she wanted you dead, you’d be dead already.” His sharp tone made them flinch, but it was enough to break their hesitation.
Reluctantly, the group agreed, and Aurora began her work. Eren stood nearby, his sharp eyes watching her every move, not out of distrust but out of concern for her. He couldn’t help the pride swelling in his chest as he saw how calmly and professionally she handled the group, despite their initial distrust. But he was also keeping an eye on her—he didn’t want her pushing herself too hard after everything she’d been through.
As the others settled into their quarters, Historia returned to her room. Outwardly, she appeared composed, every inch the queen she was expected to be. But inside, her emotions were a storm. She had been holding herself together all day, but now, in the quiet of her private space, her mind raced uncontrollably.
Porco had infected her thoughts.
She sat down on the edge of her bed, her hands trembling as she clutched the blanket. She couldn’t stop replaying their encounter in her mind. The way he had shielded her, the way his eyes—filled with conflict and something else she couldn’t name—had burned into hers. She knew he wasn’t Ymir, yet the connection she felt to him was undeniable, overwhelming.
Her heart ached at the thought of him. She wanted to see him again. The realization made her feel foolish, weak. He was her enemy, a man who had been sent to kill her, and yet...
Historia shook her head sharply, trying to dispel the thoughts. “What am I doing?” she whispered to herself, her voice trembling. “This is madness.”
She stood up, intending to pace the room to clear her mind, but as she turned, her breath caught in her throat.
A hand clamped over her mouth, muffling her startled cry, and the door behind her clicked shut.
Her military instincts kicked in immediately. Her body tensed, and she drove her elbow back toward her attacker, ready to fight. But before she could follow through, a voice she knew all too well stopped her in her tracks.
“Relax, it’s me,” Porco whispered, his tone low but unmistakable.
Historia froze, her heart pounding in her chest. She turned her head slightly, and there he was—Porco Galliard, standing in her room, looking as conflicted and intense as ever.
“Porco?” she gasped, her voice barely above a whisper as she stepped back, breaking free of his hold. “What are you doing here? How did you even get in?”
Porco shifted awkwardly, running a hand through his messy blond hair. “I... I don’t know,” he admitted, his voice strained. “I shouldn’t be here. I know that. But I couldn’t stay away.”
His words made Historia’s breath hitch. Her mind raced with a thousand questions. How had he managed to get past the compound’s security? What was he thinking, coming here? But above all, one thought loomed larger than the rest: why couldn’t she feel angry at him for being here?
Porco took a step closer, his eyes locked on hers. “I’ve abandoned my mission, my comrades... everything,” he confessed, his voice heavy with emotion. “I know it’s insane. I know I shouldn’t even be looking at you. But I can’t stop. Every time I try to convince myself to leave, I just... I keep thinking about you.”
His words hit Historia like a tidal wave. She stared at him, her chest tightening. “Porco...” she began, but she didn’t know how to finish. Her emotions were a tangled mess, and she couldn’t even begin to sort through them.
Porco clenched his fists at his sides, as if trying to ground himself. “I don’t know what I’m doing here,” he said, his voice almost desperate. “I just know I can’t hurt you. I can’t stay away from you.”
Historia’s heart raced. She wanted to push him away, to tell him to leave before anyone found him. But a part of her—a part she didn’t fully understand—wanted him to stay. She felt drawn to him, as if some invisible force was pulling them together.
“How did you even get in here?” she asked, trying to regain some semblance of composure.
Porco gave a faint, bitter smile. “Your compound isn’t as secure as you think,” he said. “Most of the Jaegerists are out hunting me, Pieck, and Reiner. It wasn’t hard to slip in.”
Historia frowned, a pang of fear tightening in her chest. If anyone found him here...
“You need to leave,” she said, though her voice lacked conviction. “If they catch you—”
“I know,” Porco interrupted. “But I don’t care.” His eyes burned with intensity as he stepped closer. “I’ve already thrown everything away. For you.”
His words left her speechless. She didn’t know what to say, how to feel. All she knew was that her heart was pounding, her emotions a whirlwind. She was supposed to hate him, wasn’t she? He was her enemy. And yet...
“Porco,” she whispered, her voice trembling. “This is madness.”
“Maybe it is,” he said quietly, his gaze softening. “But I’d rather be mad than stay away from you.”
For a moment, neither of them spoke. The weight of everything that had happened, everything that was still to come, hung heavily in the air. And yet, in that small room, it felt like the rest of the world had faded away.
“Stay,” Historia whispered before she could stop herself.

Staring up at the night sky littered with stars, you were happy to have a moment to rest. Traveling day in and day out has its perks, but it was also quite tiring. Azusa was relentless with trying to track you all down. Moments of peace and safety were far and few in between.
Today had been especially grueling considering how close you all had gotten to being captured. You could still hear the words of Zuko’s older sister ringing in your brain. Her voice sharp and filled with venom.
Father doesn’t want you! Can’t you see that! It’s why he gave you that ugly scar, and banished you.
You had seen the look of hurt in Zuko’s eyes. Even if it was only there for a split second. He had joined Aang to help defeat his father. Always seeming very angry at the great fire lord. You knew that he was just using anger to mask the hurt. It was easier for him to be angry than to let the pain in.
Hearing movement on the other side of camp, your head instinctively jerked towards the sound. Hand flying towards your waist where a dagger normally resided. Thankfully, your heart rate started to slow when you saw it was Zuko walking away from his bedroll.
Sitting up, you followed his movements with your eyes as he walked to a nearby pond. Watching him sit by the edge and put his head in his hands. His figure lit by only the light of the moon. Wanting to respect his privacy, you looked away and rolled over to try and fall back asleep.
Your brain kept wandering back to him and you kept stealing glances at him. Quietly getting up and walking over to where he was. Deciding you would at least offer your support. If he didn’t want it, you would leave him alone.
“It’s a nice view.” You commented in a gentle voice, looking out at the full moon reflecting on the lake.
He didn’t return your comment, only lifting his head to look up at the lake. Piercing gold eyes scanning the scenery. His black hair was slightly tousled, indicating he must have been trying to sleep.
“Couldn’t sleep?” You asked, trying to get him to open up
“No.” He answered, his voice quiet void of its usual rough tone
“Something keeping you up?”
“No.”
“You don’t have to lie Zuko, I can see it in your eyes, you are hurting.”
He was silent for a moment, contemplating his next words.
“She’s got honor.”
His voice was pained no matter how hard he tried to hide it. He was clearly thinking back to his sister. How she was praised by her father, now clearly the favorite child.
“You’ve got it too.”
“Don’t lie.”
“I’m not lying, I’m pointing out a hidden truth.”
“There isn’t an ounce of honor left in me.”
“You just don’t see it Zuko, but it is there.”
He looked at his reflection in the pond, a hand rising to touch his scar. Quickly falling to his side and balling into a fist. He turned his head to you and asked in such a genuine way it shattered your heart.
“How do you see it?”
You move to place your hand beside his face, silently asking to touch the reddened skin. He leaned his face into your palm, letting you run your thumb gently over the burned skin. Smiling warmly at him as you did so.
“I look at your actions. How you have helped save many lives. Every day you scold yourself for your past but forget that it is what shaped you into who you are today. You’ve done a lot of things Zuko and not all of them have been good. However, the person I see before me right now is changed from the one who I met months ago.”
He didn’t say anything, honestly he was taken aback. He felt your hand fall from his face as he stared into your eyes. A ghost of a smile appeared on his lips before he spoke.
“You always make me sound like such a beautiful person.”
You gave him another smile, this one brighter than the last.
“Because you are, inside and out.”

Can I request ikevamp Arthur with the prompt constellations and be Spicy.

A/N: Here you are, @otomefoxystar 💜 I hope you enjoy it!
This is a submission for my and @lorei-writes Sunshine and Starlight CC ☀⭐
Arthur x Reader, suggestive content
WC: ~900
The moon spills its silvery light through the open window, granting everything in Arthur’s room an argent sheen. A cool night breeze accompanies it, whispering across the bare skin of your back. It brushes its fingers along your spine, caresses your curves and tickles the backs of your legs. Even the soles of your feet feel its chilly touch. It is, however, a welcome change from the tidal wave of heat that Arthur had unleashed upon your body not long ago. You sigh, your cheek resting against the cradle of your arms as you remember him coaxing the ever-burning embers of your desire into towering flames with his skilled fingers, his talented mouth. You burned to ash, a comet exploding across as star-strewn night sky, and now you are enjoying the sated rest of a body slowly coming back, like stardust recompiling itself into human form.
Arthur pushes himself away from the pillows he’s been reclining against, his dark blue gaze drinking in the sight of you there, on your stomach, breathing contentedly. He leans towards you, laying a familiar hand on the back of your thigh. You lift your head and glance over your shoulder at him.
“As beautiful as Cassiopeia,” he murmurs affectionately, his palm warm against your skin. You can’t help the face you make as you dimly remember a musty university lecture hall and an ancient professor droning on about Greek mythology.
“Isn’t she extremely vain and ends up causing the downfall of her kingdom?” You shift a bit, propping yourself up on your forearms and recalling more of the myth as the hazy memory slowly comes into focus. “Poseidon put her in the stars and she spends half the year upside down as punishment.”
Arthur laughs, the sound soft and admiring. “Who knew my darling was so versed in the classics?” He moves closer, sitting up beside you, his hand sliding possessively up your reclining figure, up across the curve of your hip, his fingers brushing along the line of your waist until they come to rest on the plane of your back. Using one finger, he begins tracing a line between your shoulder blades. The touch is feather-light, yet heated, a phoenix feather grazing your skin.
“Thanks to Isaac, I know quite a bit about the scientific side of Cassiopeia. She, as a constellation, is famous for her W-shape, formed by her five brightest stars.” He draws the shape slowly and your breath comes out in a light gasp, caught in a spider’s web of desire and anticipation. “Right next to her is the more famous Big Dipper.” His finger slides down a short distance, tracing the familiar shape of its four-starred bowl and then the three-starred handle. Your back is now rising and falling more quickly with each breath, your head having fallen forward, forehead pressed against your forearms, as you lose yourself in the feel of his touch. “And right next to them is Andromeda.” He glides his hand further down your body to the sensitive small of your back. You squirm, wanting a firmer touch, but he presses you down onto the bed with his free hand, keeping you still.
“Arthur….” It’s almost a whimper, almost a plea.
His hand doesn’t budge, holding you at his mercy even as his index finger resumes its journey, tracing the shape of Andromeda’s starlit form. A shudder rolls through your as he leans down, pressing a kiss right next to where his finger has stopped. “Can you tell me, my sweet scholar, who Andromeda is?” That voice is honey, pouring itself over you. “If you manage that, you’ve earned a reward.”
You long to turn, to roll your body around so you’re facing him, so you can reach for him and pull him roughly to you, desperate to quench the thirst that is burning its way through your veins. But he knows, oh does he know, what he is doing to you, and he is still gently but firmly holding you in place. He slides his palm across your lower back and your thoughts spark into tiny bursts of light, disappearing into the void of want that has clouded your mind, making it difficult to remember anything at all.
“Andromeda,” you manage, the word sticking to your dry throat, “was Cassiopeia’s daughter.” He trails a teasing line along the outside of your thigh, ignoring the places you most need him. Gritting your teeth, you force yourself to concentrate. “She was offered as a sacrifice by her mother to a sea monster, but was saved by Perseus. They got married and had lots of children and damn it, Arthur, if you don’t touch me properly, I swear–”
He laughs, the sound husky and full of promise. “Alright, alright.” You’re released and quicker than a star’s wink in the night you’ve turned around, rising to throw your arms around his neck and kiss him fiercely, the full force of the desire he’s built up inside you now unleashed, bright as Sirius, more powerful than the pull of gravity. Arthur’s eyes are a universe all of their own, blazing with love and longing. Gently he pushes you back down against the soft mattress, his long, bare body covering your own. “Lay back, love, and let me reward you.” He slowly begins trailing a chain of kisses down your neck, your collarbone. “You’ve more than earned it.”

24 - Trauma Bonded ❤

Prev | Masterlist | Next
Things are different. Maybe others couldn’t see, like Wonyoung and Ricky, but Hiyyih and Hikaru knew. There weren’t any obvious signs between Jungwon and Y/n - apart from being especially clingy (which to strangers could just be seen as a young couple in love) but Hiyyih and Hikaru knew.
They knew that Jungwon was lying about when free time was, sneaking away from scheduled activities for “bathroom breaks” to spend time with Y/n. They knew that Jungwon was sneaking off to meet Y/n at night, conveniently being back in his cabin by the time Mr Jeon woke them up in the morning.
It’s not just Jungwon, either. They see the way Y/n looks at him now. The way their gaze follows him when he’s turned away, eyes shining with nothing short of admiration. The way how, even when Jungwon isn’t there, Y/n’s eyes scan the room for him. The sudden change is alarming, to say the least.

“Karu, wake up.”
Hikaru stirs slightly in her sleep, letting out a mumbled whine and turning away from the noise. “Seriously, look.” The voice says again. Hikaru opens an eye to see Hiyyih standing at her bed, pointing out the window.
Sitting up slightly, she looks out the window just as a hooded figure walks past their cabin, dim torch in hand. “It’s Jungwon.” Hiyyih clarifies, watching curiously as the figure makes its way to one of the far cabins. Hikaru rolls her eyes before flopping back on the bed. “Who cares? It’s about time he started rebelling, I think.” She mumbles through a yawn.
“Don’t you think it’s weird?” Hiyyih asks, watching as the cabin door opens - revealing a happy Y/n who quickly embraces Jungwon. “I think it’s weirder that you woke me up to watch our best friend's boyfriend go for a midnight walk.” Hikaru says, rolling over and closing her eyes once again. Bahiyyih goes to remind Hikaru that Y/n and Jungwon aren’t actually dating but is instead met with a gentle snore.
Rolling her eyes, Bahiyyih goes back to her own bed. Not before sending a quick text to Y/n, saying that they will be talking in the morning.

“What’s wrong?” Jungwon asks, noticing the confusion on Y/n’s face as they look at their phone. “Nothing… just Bahiyyih being weird and ominous.” Y/n shrugs, turning off their phone and throwing it to the other side of the bed - which isn’t very far, considering it's only a single.
“I can’t believe you only got the single whilst those two idiots got a double.” Jungwon scowls, looking across the room to where Jay and Jake are fast asleep. “I mean, you literally paid for it.” He adds, making Y/n laugh slightly. “You want me to sleep with one of them?” Y/n teases, Jungwon’s eyes widening at their words. “No…” He mumbles, pulling Y/n in by their hips. “I’m saying they could share this bed and then you and I could have the double.” He says cheekily, his tone of voice not matching the innocent expression on his face. Y/n hums slightly, pulling Jungwon to lay his head on their chest. “It’s good this bed is uncomfortable, that way you can’t fall asleep and we don’t get caught.” Y/n says, pressing their lips against Jungwon’s forehead. “Imagine Mr Jeon’s face if he found his precious little president curled up in bed with me.” They add, giggling as Jungwon whines for them to shut up.
“I think he already knows about us.”
“Mr Jeon?”
“Mmhm.”
“Well I’d hope so… he’s not blind.”
“He kinda is though.”
“Jungwon!”
The two continue to talk in hushed whispers throughout the night, careful not to wake Jungwon’s friends who sleep just one bed away. They say time flies when you’re having fun, and it’s not long until the sun begins to rise - shining a gentle glow into the cabin.
“Jungwon~” Y/n calls out, causing the boy to tighten his grip around their waist. “You’ve gotta get back to your cabin, babe.” They add, causing him to groan. He refuses to move, claiming that he just needs 5 more minutes. “You’ll see me again at breakfast.” Y/n laughs, channelling all of their strength to push him off their body. “You’re so mean.” Jungwon pouts, causing Y/n to mirror his expression.
Checking the time, Y/n sees that Jungwon really has to go. “Babe, go.” Y/n pulls Jungwon out of bed, taking him to the door of the cabin (despite his protests). “They’re gonna send a search party in a minute.” Y/n jokes, opening the door and handing Jungwon his slippers. Finally giving up, Jungwon places the slippers on his feet before turning around to give Y/n one more kiss - promising to see them at breakfast.
Y/n watches in adoration as Jungwon trudges back to his cabin, hair a mess and lack of sleep evident in his body language. “You two are so cute.” Jake suddenly comments, causing Y/n to jump slightly. If they’re being honest, they forgot he was even in the room. “Shut up.” Y/n mumbles, going to get ready for the day.

Bahiyyih could work for the FBI. That’s what Y/n has discovered as they go to their 5th hiding spot of the day. Everywhere they go, Bahiyyih finds them. She’s like a beautiful stalker.
Y/n doesn’t even know what Hiyyih wants to talk about - which is the scariest part. They assume it’s something to do with Jungwon, which is exactly why Y/n is hiding. Bahiyyih is a smart woman. If anyone has managed to pick up on Y/n’s change in… feelings… towards Jungwon, it would certainly be her.
The worst part is, they can’t even tell Jungwon why they’re avoiding her. Coming up with reasons as to why they want to stay inside their cabin and play Uno with Jay and Jake rather than hang out with their actual friends is a lot more difficult than it sounds.
“If you make me pick up one more fucking time, I swear to god I will tell Mr Jeon that we are actually dating.” Jake scowls, his four new cards finding a home in the already close to 20 he is holding. “He already believes us, asshole. Had a whole speech about the beauty of self-discovery in line for the bathrooms last night.” Jay rolls his eyes, shuddering slightly at the memory.
“I’m just saying, Jungwon’s literally winning!” Jake complains, turning the group's attention to Jungwon’s two remaining cards. “Yeah well, if I attack Jungwon, Y/n will kill me.” Jay points out. “This is not fair, I’m calling Niki.” Jake pouts, getting out his phone.
“Are they always like this?” Y/n asks, causing Jungwon to nod his head. “You’re lucky Sunghoon isn’t here.” He says, watching as Y/n’s eyebrows furrow in confusion. “I’ll explain another time.” He waves off, attention turning to the sudden sound of Niki yelling through the speaker of Jake’s phone.
“Y/N! Why the hell did you invite Jay and Jake Hyung to hang out with you and not me?” Niki whines. “I thought we were besties?” He adds, causing Y/n to laugh slightly. “Learn to drive and then we can be besties.” They say. Niki starts a tangent about how unfair that is but Y/n zones out, realising it’s their turn and placing a card on the deck. Seeing this, Jungwon immediately places down a card as well - mumbling Uno.
“Jay, do something!” Jake screams. Never in their life has Y/n witnessed such an intense game on Uno. Smirking slightly, Jay places a skip a turn - causing Jake to let out a cry. “You’re such a traitor!” He whines before fully turning his attention to Y/n.
“Please, Y/n. I feel like we’ve really bonded over these few days together, you know? And just because you’re dating Jungwon, it doesn’t mean you have to help him win. What do you say, you and I team up and take them down?” He asks, basically pleading at this point. “Sorry Jake.” Y/n says, before placing down the final card Jungwon needs to win. Jake lets out a loud groan, collapsing backwards dramatically as Jungwon places down his final card, laughing at his friend being a sore loser. Y/n hears something from Niki about being a simp but they don’t pay him much mind.
“I will never forget this betrayal.” Jake complains, hanging up on Niki as Jay begins to pack up the cards. “Whatever, losers buy dinner so off you go.” Jungwon says, causing Jay to raise his eyebrows. “Uh… Y/n lost too.” He says, attempting to point out Jungwon’s favouritism. “Let’s just go dude, no use arguing with someone who cheats in uno.” Jake scowls. Jungwon didn’t cheat, but Jake will never accept that.
As the two leave to get dinner, Jungwon wraps his arms around Y/n’s waist - pulling their back against his chest. “You let me win.” He mumbles, pressing a quick kiss against their shoulder. “What do you mean?” Y/n asks with feigned confusion. Jungwon chuckles at this, pressing another kiss against their skin. “You had a pick up 4 and skip a turn. Could’ve easily helped Jay Hyung win.” He points out, turning Y/n around so they are now facing him.
“You cheater.” Y/n teases, pointing their finger against his chest accusingly. “Kinda hard not to look at your cards when you’re basically in my lap the entire game.” Jungwon points out, causing Y/n to gasp. “So now you’re using my love and affection as an excuse to deceive? I thought you were better than that.”
Jungwon’s brain short circuits at the L word… and it appears Y/n did as well. They both chose not to comment, Jungwon opting to pull Y/n in for a kiss rather than confront any feelings.
“Seeing your cards didn’t help me win.” He mumbles between kisses. “So I don’t think it counts as cheating.” Y/n rolls their eyes at this, pulling on Jungwon’s hair slightly. “I think you’re full of shit.” They whisper, bringing their lips together once more. Jungwon pushes Y/n slightly so they are laying on the bed, crawling over their body and connecting their lips once more.
“You saw my cards too, liar.” Jungwon says, following up his words with a playful bite to Y/n’s shoulder - causing them to let out a surprised squeak. “So we’re both at fault.” Y/n shakes their head, despite the blatant truth that Jungwon is saying. “Cheating is expected of me… you’re too good for that.” Y/n whispers, earning a chuckle from Jungwon. “Guess you still have a bit to learn about me, then.” He replies, slipping his hands under their top to rest at their bare waist and bringing their lips together for yet another kiss.
If Y/n could just kiss Jungwon for the rest of eternity, that would be ideal. Not having to talk - especially about feelings and most importantly, no lying. Just the feeling of lips, hands and fluttering heartbeats as they share their thoughts and feelings through their lips rather than their words.
That’s why, when Jungwon goes to pull away from the kiss, Y/n wastes no time in pulling him back. Their lips press harder against his, pulling his body flush against their own. Because the more time they spend kissing Jungwon, the less they have to think. And thinking right now is the last thing that Y/n wants to do.

✨🐺 Sparks Between Fang Marks: Bite from the Beast 3✨🐺
"Are you sure about this?"
Link stood; a majestic vision enrobed in his signature hero's tunic. You grabbed a wooden comb from his bureau and ran it through his unruly bangs.
"What's wrong with my normal clothes? I'm not going into battle."
You stopped combing, rolling your eyes. "For a hero, you sure do whine a lot. Haven't you ever heard love is a battlefield?"
"I just think falling in love shouldn't involve this much effort."
"Effort?" You countered. "Link, you're going on a measly date."
With a surrendering sigh, he stood still as you brushed his tunic, making sure to iron out any wrinkles in its cotton with your fingertips. You ignored the feel of brawn beneath his clothes as you continued to smooth his collar down. The past few weeks, you and 'wolf boy' have grown quite close... as friends.
Sure, there were lingering looks laced with sharp-witted chatter that seemed to hang between you both. The more you seemed to torture Link, the bolder he became. The chemistry between you both had become combustible.
At least on your end.
But your job was to groom him and give him away to the 'one' who would inflame his heart with love and set him free of his curse.
But you found it becoming harder and harder to ignore the little whisper in the back of your mind. This minute, taunting voice seemed to ask you, why couldn't you be the one?
"Y/N?" You looked up at Link to see him observing you in concern. "You, okay? You look like you floated into the mirror of Twilight, never to be seen again."
You give his collar a final smooth down before playfully swatting him away. "Come on, you don't want to be late for a date; it's a poor look."
You both made your way over to Link's horse, Epona. "We must head to Castle Town."
Link hopped onto Epona. The image of him clad in his green tunic atop his horse was sure to make any person's pulse race. Who didn't love a dashing knight?
"Y/N? Are you coming up?"
You looked at him, puzzled. "Huh? You mean ride with you? You don't have a horse for me?"
"What's the point? We can both fit on Epona." He jumped off of Epona and stood before you, a twinkle of amusement in his eyes. "You're awfully weird today. I'm the one getting tortured with blind dates." He grabbed your waist and began to lift you off of the ground.
"What are you-"
"You just told me we can't be late." Link hoisted you upward, helping you wrap your legs onto Epona and get your feet securely into the stirrups of her saddle. He jumped up behind you. "See, that wasn't so bad, was it?" His whisper sent a chill down your spine.
Another trickle of his breath hits your ear. "Let's go; I don't want to be out with you when the moon rises."
"I agree; I would like to not be attacked by 'wolf' you again."
A cocky laugh erupted from his throat. "Who said anything about the wolf?"
"Link!"
✨✨✨✨✨🐺✨✨✨✨✨
You both made your way to Castle Town, where the interview for Link's heart was waiting to commence.
You walked into Telma's tavern; the dim lights and blithe atmosphere would be perfect for Link's first date. You made your way to the bar and hid your face behind an oversized menu. You surreptitiously watched as he sat alone at a table.
Wishing you were the one sitting with him.
He looked over at you, and you gave him a supportive thumbs up. You could see the tension melt from his shoulders at the sight of you. He gave you a resolute nod.
A buxom figure strolled toward his table. Her wide hips sashayed purposefully, reminding all of the men in the bar of her spell-binding femininity. A white cat jumped onto Link's lap, startling him.
"Louise! What did I say?"
Telma pulled a chair out, sitting down in front of Link.
"Hey Telma."
"Hey there, sugar. Louise figured she would be your emotional support cat." Link gazed down at the long-haired feline with fur colored like a marshmallow. He massaged her temples, causing her to vibrate with approval.
"Oh, you know I'm waiting for a date?"
Telma bent toward Link, a tidal wave of her cleavage spilling onto the table. He looked away.
"It's a shame you and Ilia didn't work out, but it's not a shame for me..." Her hand snuck beneath the table and landed on his knee, causing him to jolt upright.
"T-Telma, what are you-"
She winked at him. "You need a woman, Link. That's your problem. A man with a body like yours should be praised by the warm, curvaceous body of a woman like me." Her fingers danced up his leg, rattling him.
"Telma, don't tell me you're..."
"Your date? I'm glad you figured it out, honey.
Link shot you a glowering stare, and you shrugged your shoulders. You ignored Telma's hands all over him. You ordered a shot from the bar to bury your jealousy.
"W-what about Renado?" Link asked.
Telma took her hand off of his leg and slammed the table. Louise slowly opened and closed her eyes, oblivious to anything but the attention his fingers were feeding her. "I'm done chasing him! I don't chase men; they chase me!"
Link sighed. "Telma, I don't know what Y/N told you, but I'm looking for love."
"Sure, honey, I can give you lovin' "
"No!" Link put his hand on his forehead and rubbed it in vexation. "I mean, love. Not sex."
"Well, if you change your mind, you're in my bar after all." She got up, her black leather cloak swinging behind her. Louise looked up at him and hissed. She hopped off of his lap and followed behind her scorned mother.
Link looked your way, slowly beckoning you with a few flicks of his finger. You quickly hid your face, ignoring him.
You had a feeling Telma would be too forward for someone like Link, who needed to think he was in control. Link liked to be the aggressor. At least he seemed that way with you.
That's why you enlisted a few other choices.
✨✨✨✨✨🐺✨✨✨✨✨
You buried your face in the menu once again when you saw another contender approach Link's table.
"Agitha?"
"Hi Link!" She sat on the empty chair across from him.
"What are you doing here? The bar is no place for children."
Her legs dangled off of the chair. She stood up so she could stamp her foot and demonstrate her displeasure. "Link, I am 19 now!"
"Oh, has it been that long?" Link gave her an amicable smile. "You have grown into a fine young lady and princess."
"Well, duh, that's why I'm here."
"Oh no," Link swore beneath his breath.
"Every princess needs a prince, and well, you always helped collect bugs for me." Agitha placed a box on the table. Link didn't need to ask to know what was inside of it.
Agitha giggled, a sound reminiscent of when she was the ten-year-old he first encountered. Her blonde pigtails bobbed as she whispered, "Here is the deal; in this box are a bunch of cockroaches. You help me play a prank on Telma, and I'll agree to date you."
Link fell backward, scrambling to get away from the box of eager roaches on the table. You couldn't help but laugh at the ridiculous look on his face. Link caught sight of you laughing and growled.
You had to say that growling suited him, even as a human.
"Agitha," Link stood and brushed off his clothing. "I appreciate your offer, but I'm afraid I just need someone a little older."
"HMPH! With that attitude, you'll always be single!" She grabbed her box, storming off, but not before thrusting it in Link's direction and threatening to take the lid off, giving him a jump scare.
You once again pretended to look at the menu until you felt hands rip it from your grasp. "Is this your idea of a joke?" Link got in your face and hissed.
"Telma's boobs and Agitha's bugs? That's what you think is going to make me fall in love?"
"What's not to love about Telma's boobs?"
"Y/N!"
"Oh, alright. Such a crabby wolf boy! Listen Link," you set your hands on his shoulders, trying to calm him down. "You have to understand love comes in all sorts of packages and sometimes in someone you least expect."
The crowded bar offered little distraction from how close he was looming to your lips. You couldn't help yourself, thanks to the magic of the shots you indulged in, you awarded yourself with a quick glance at his. You couldn't help but think about how lucky the winning candidate would be to taste them. "There's a few more applicants. Please, just trust me, okay?"
Link groaned. "Oh, fine! But if none of them work, then I expect you to have a backup plan."
You opened your lips, snapping them shut. You wanted to tell him you had a backup plan.
And actually, the backup plan had been your first plan all along.
You.

What The Hell Is This Mess!
Chapter 4
Not only going the way the little girl had pointed we're also following the ever so often tracks she had left behind to make sure we're going the right way.
"What's you're name?" Sanzu asks the girl
with his sweeten voice, her hair was in a ponytail but now had fall to the base of her neck with few strings sticking out as the simple dress she wears had a few small holes from it getting snagged on things and her feet were covered in mud though we had washed them with some water before they could get Sanzu's clothes dirty.
"Lilith" she speaks softly into the shoulder her head is laying on.
"Such a beautiful name for a little girl!" Sanzu's coo while giving her a smile but quickly frown when she trys her best to hide herself in his hold after the group had travel half a mile or so, taking the signs of her fear that we're getting closer to where her group is and the first evidence we find are the girls footprints on the ground that had turned to mud after being soaked in blood she had track on the bottom of her feet which we quickly figured out when seeing what's on a worn out dirt road. Bodies are scattered and bleeding along the road with a few carts flipped over on their sides, not wanting the girl to see this Sanzu stays with their belongings in the tree line while Hanma and Draken search though they had to take a moment or two to get themselves together every so often from the smell and the sight.
"Hanma! This one is still alive!" Draken had found one of the people barely breathing as they sit against a cart and hearing a voice the man open his eyes
"My daughter! My wife! Are they......" He gasps as he grabs onto Draken's arm with amazing strength when he kneel on a knee next to the man.
"Found three women but.... they didn't survive." Hanma kneel next to Draken by the man before he continues speaking.
"Though we did found a little girl a little ways in the forest...." The man interrupts Hanma with a cry.
"Lilith! Oh, my sweet Lilith! Please, return her to my Mother in Sparrow's Tongue!" He weakly hands over a bow with some of its wood wrapped in white fur to Draken.
"May that vil creature burn in eternal flames...." He spit before taking his final breathe as he succumb to his wounds.
"What you think happened?" Hanma asked Draken when they stood up again.
"Let's look around a little more before following the road, Kesor! Which way is Sparrow's Tongue?" She points ahead of us though she stayed beside Sanzu in the tree line.
"Do you think we should grab what we can?" Hanma gestures to the things the group was carrying on the carts.
"We'll return what we can and give them a burial." Draken shook his head no at Hanmas question before mentally 'tell' Sanzu the plan so he started fixing camp while getting the girl to help which he praises her on her work once they got done before sacrificing Draken's other shirt to make it into a makeshift dress for her with a blue ribbon around her waist to get her out of the destroyed one. Draken and Hanma clear a place out on the other side of the road before using the shove they found in a cart to start digging which Hanma removed his vest to keep it clean along with the bow, they spent the rest of the day digging and moving bodies well into the night which they use a torch for light so wild animals can't take a bite out of any of the bodies.
"Here" Sanzu hands them one of the filled water pouches of the many the group had which they decided to keep four of them when the two found them while putting things into the carts and also hand them each a large leaf with food on it, Lilith had fallen asleep in Sanzu's arms at sun down. In silence they eat and drink around the small fire Sanzu's had made before laying down for the night which as soon as the sun rise in the sky the three are up and getting everything ready to move, to have his hands free Sanzu's use a long piece of cloth to strap Lilith onto his back before using dirt to completely destroy the fire.
"Ready?" Not many things are left after the attack which fit into one cart that Draken will be pulling and leaves us wondering where the rest want to but we quickly moved on from it as we get start traveling to Sparrow's Tongue by following the dirt road. Half a mile down the road we hit a fork in the road but it's quickly solved when asking Kesor which it takes us a day and a half with few breaksto finally made it to the village but we're stopped by a guard in fronts of the village open gates.
"Stop! What......" He trails off after recognizing the cart, little girl that's strapped on Sanzu's back, and the bow which caused him to shout at another guard to get the chief as many others guards surround us pointing their sharp weapons.
"Where did you get this cart and child from?" The chief ask after arrive which isn't too long as we all hold our hands up the whole time.
"We were camping near by when Hanma went to go hunting but he saw a infected wolf trying to get the girl which he quickly put down, we ask her where her parents are and she pointed in a direction that we follow until finding a group as been attached on the road with only one still surviving but he didn't last long after telling us to bring the girl to her grandmother here and we decided to bring what was left of the carts after giving the dead a burial." Draken takes a small step forward before explaining the situation which the chief takes a moment to think.
"Arrow, take the girl to her grandmother along with her son's bow. Peter and Paul, take the pink with the one called Hanma to my home as this one takes some of my men to the site he speaks of." The guards which are actually just hunters protecting their home move into action as chief said, in a short time Sanzu and Hanma are sitting in the chiefs home as Draken is taken away.
"What are your name?" He ask after taking the head of the long table as a women sits on his left and his three kids on the right which leaves us at the end and the last to be able to fill our plates.
"Hanma, this one is Sanzu and the other is Draken. You have our gratitude for feeding us and allowing us into your home." Hanma answers the question.
"You have done anything wrong to us but that might change on what my men said once they're back." After that he goes silent and started eating himself once his family got their first bit before we even started ourselves which I turn my focus in Draken that's leading the way with eyes staring holes in the back of his head which lasted a day when he show them the graves, they immediately become sad.
"Did he say what did this?" One of the guards ask after approaching me once we got camp set up which I shake my head.
"No, just that whatever was it to burn in eternal flames." The guard stare into the small flame of my camp fire that's a few feet away from the others.
"I'm Doug Smallhill." He holds out a hand which I shake, the family of the chief keeps their distances from the two strangers that will be staying their home for the seeable future.
"Is there anything we can do for you? To earn our keep I mean?" Not wanting to witness the chief rage Sanzu talking the wife with respect, she gazes at him with fire in her green eyes which seem to make them glow with power.
"You know how to skin an animal? To hunt?" Although she kept her distance from us but we can tell she won't take anything bullshit from us, authority leaks into her words from the years of practice of being a chief wife.
"No ma'am, though we were going to learn from trial and error before we found the group." She hums.
"You did not look like seasoned Hunters! You go hunt and bring it back, I teach you how to skin!" The way she speak clue us in that this isn't her native tongue, She turns from us and walks out of kitchen.
"Well, you hunt and I skin." Sanzu looks up at Hanma before walking to the room the chief let the two sleep in which he rolled his eyes at the shorter man and follow behind him to hit the bed so he can ries early tomorrow morning to hunt.
"Ooff, why you do that for?" Sanzu groggily spoke after Hanma had dragged him out of bed with his leg.
"I didn't say you're not going! So get up, we got hunting do to!" The sun isn't even fully up and with a sigh Hanma started tugging off the PJs the family had kindly let us borrow off of the sleepy Sanzu which because harder to do so when he started to resisting.
"Leave.....me." Sanzu mumbles as he continues to resist but immediately stops when Hanma gives him a dark look which reminds them of the look Tanjiro give Zenitsu on the road in Demon Slayer which is terrifying to see in real life so to make him stop doing it Sanzu goes limb on the ground and let him underdressed him, once done Hanma basically throws his clothes in his face.
"You want me to dress you too, baby!" Sanzu gives him what the fuck expression which Hanma just rolled his eyes at and leaves the room to head to the kitchen where Yara, the chiefs wife, is surprisingly making our lunches.
"Thank you Ma'am Yara" She just gives me a nod after handing me a small bag with our lunches in it right when Sanzu finally made he's way into the kitchen dressed in his clothes.
"Let's get going." Yara hands us our weapons that we handed to the chief yesterday and made our way into the forest.
"First, we need to try to learn how to track." Hanma kneel down to get a closer look at the forest floor.
"I'm the only one in the group that can track but that's only monstrosities, things we can fight." Sanzu kneels beside him.
"Yeah but that's good as it'll help us become stronger, you'll need to read up on them when you can." Sanzu nods in agreement with Hanma which he stands up again when finding nothing and continues to walk on with Sanzu following behind as they try to be quiet as they can, slowly the sun gets higher in the sky as the two continues on hunting.
"We've have gone far enough from the town and we can sit in the tree." They start climbing the large tree they stopped at and perch on a thick breach each though Hanma will be the one to hunt from a far as Sanzu only have daggers.
'Sanzu: I wonder how long this will take?
Hanma: as long as it will, why?
Sanzu: well, I'm sitting here doing nothing and you're the only one in the group that can use a long range weapon!
Hanma: will take a stick and start craving something! Get a better handle on the daggers!'
Sanzu rolled his eyes at Hanma but does as he suggested, breaking off a nice thick stick of the tree and start craving until a shape forms. Hours pass with Hanma searching for any signs of wildlife until finally a buck appears around four in the evening, it's antlers large holds five points and slowly Hanma notch an arrow in his bow before pulling back. He waits knowing patience will reward him instead of immediately shooting only to miss so he waits for the prefect shot, without experience knowledge is useless but to learn that experience you must have knowledge. Once Hanma had a perfect shot he still waits wondering if this is the shot he needs to take to end it's life instantly, for something to give a sign to take it. Suddenly a bird calls and I immediately let go with a breath, the arrow rips through the air with a small sound and into the heart of the buck as it instantly end it's life. Hanma gives a deep breath after seeing it fall to the forest floor and send a mental prayer thanking for letting them have the buck. The two of them climb down the tree and quickly approach the fallen buck, Hanma look for any sign of life but found none which he's thankful for and both begin to pack the large animal back to the town which it become midnight when we do make it back.
"Mother Nature give you large deer! Impressive! You must be in Mother Nature's favor!" Yara said once she saw us coming through the tree line and show us where to put it which she covers with a tarp to keep everything away until she teaches us how to skin it tomorrow.
"Your tall blond friend inside!" She gestures to the house which we quickly thank her before heading inside already knowing that Draken is back but want to keep up appearances that we don't have one mind. Draken is sitting at the dinning table with the chief and a guard, Draken stands up from his seat which Hanma and Sanzu quickly bring him into a hug before sitting with him at the table.
"Doug has confirmed that what you have told us is true! We thank you for what you have done for us!" Yara and her kids help her bring food to the table which we thanked them for and waited for them to start eating before we do ourselves, once dinner is over Yara excused us to bed since we have to get up early in morning with her.
"Don't like being separated." Hanma and Draken agrees with Sanzu's statement after changing into their pj's which Yara had handed Draken a pair of pj's before coming to their temporary room, they cuddle into one bed but with their big frames they somehow make it work on the small bed along with knowing that this isn't going to be the first time they'll be separated.

Flicker of Amber Light
A single candle flickered in the quiet, lavender-scented darkness. Its warm glow stretched across the polished floorboards, weaving soft shapes that danced on the walls. In this intimate space stood two figures—Elena and Rowan—close enough to share breath, yet hesitant, carefully contained by anticipation.
Elena’s gaze, shimmering with equal parts curiosity and longing, swept over Rowan’s shoulders and traveled down his arms. In the hush, she could hear the gentle cadence of his breathing. She exhaled slowly, hoping to match his steady pulse with her own. Outside, a breeze rustled the night air; inside, desire bloomed in the stilled atmosphere between them.
The first touch of Rowan’s fingertips on Elena’s wrist was scarcely more than a whisper. Yet that faint touch held the weight of secret confessions—so many unspoken words that seemed to crowd the room. Their eyes met, and in that mutual gaze, they found a fragile courage beckoning them closer.
Rowan slid his hand up the curve of Elena’s arm, savoring the soft warmth of her skin. His voice was hardly above a murmur. “You feel like summer,” he said, recalling distant memories of languid afternoons and honeyed sunlight. His words stirred a tingle of heat along Elena’s neck, a gentle wave that moved across her shoulders.
She lifted her hand to his cheek. Their fingers intertwined, and in that small space between their bodies, a hush descended—pure, breathtaking possibility. Elena felt her heart quicken. The uncertainty of new territory and the promise of shared intimacy thrummed under her skin.
In slow, careful motions, Rowan guided her closer. Her lips brushed against the collar of his shirt, breathing in the faint trace of bergamot and cedar. For a moment, she rested her cheek against his chest, comforted by the steady rhythm beneath. Each soft rise and fall of his breath resonated with her own yearning.
Their first tentative kiss was a careful exploration, gentle as a late-spring breeze. Lips barely parted, exchanging warmth, awakening senses. In the background, the candle’s flame swayed, as if drawn in by the stirring of their quiet passion. Elena tilted her head, deepening the moment. It was both tender and electric—a meeting place for every emotion that had simmered through stolen glances and soft smiles.
A glow of heat washed over them, not from the candle alone, but from an unspoken need that brought them closer, chest to chest, heart to heart. Fingers drifted across fabric: a lingering caress along Rowan’s collar, a gentle press to Elena’s waist. Silence wrapped them in its arms, a hush that concealed the pounding of two hearts suddenly bared.
Time stretched like the slow drips of wax from the candle; each second seemed longer, each breath more intentional, more charged. Rowan’s hand found Elena’s lower back, supporting the small arch as she inched nearer. Their closeness turned the ordinary into the extraordinary. Every breath became a shared secret, and every touch a vow of trust.
Elena drew her lips from his, gazing up to catch the reflection of the candle’s glow dancing in Rowan’s eyes. She saw affection there, and promise, and something deeper—an unraveling of walls, of distance, of fear. She felt safe in that vulnerability. Wordlessly, she led him to sit beside her on a velvet chaise near the window, where starlight peeked shyly through the curtains.
Curling her legs beneath her, Elena leaned in, pressing her palm against the soft cotton of Rowan’s shirt, sensing the warmth beneath. His hand settled on her thigh, a featherlight hold that telegraphed both restraint and longing. Their hearts both beat in a quiet, shared crescendo. Intimacy flowed from one moment to the next, without the need for voices, shaped only by the hush of breaths and tender, deliberate contact.
Their kisses deepened, yet kept their gentleness, telling stories without words—stories of nights spent apart and months lost to simple daydreams of a possibility like this. Each shared moment revealed a new corner of their yearning: the brush of lips on necks, the warming flush, the small gasps, the gentle hum of comfort when they realized how easily they fit around each other’s forms.
At last, breathless, they paused. The candle wavered, low in its pool of wax, as if fatigued by the culmination of so much unspoken tension. The hush of the night enveloped them, blanketing their entwined hands, their contented smiles, and the sweet ache in both their chests. What began as soft attraction now blossomed into a promise of deeper union. Outside, wind pressed gently on the glass, but inside, they were cocooned in each other’s presence—a tranquil, electric space, immune to the rushing world.
Gently, Rowan brushed a stray lock of hair behind Elena’s ear. His whisper echoed in the hush: “We have all the time we need.” And indeed, it felt like they did. The candle flame softly dimmed, leaving them in a hush of afterglow—hearts calm, yet thrumming at the threshold of what might come next.
Basking in the warmth of each other’s arms, they embraced the wordless promise that this was merely the first tender chapter of something that might become an epic, private symphony of their own.

O-Oh my... 😳 May I request head canons of Arlecchino and Scaramouche/Wanderer (separate) being soft with their S/O? 👀🤭

my hubris ;;
pairing : arlecchino, scaramouche x gn!reader
cw : 3.3 archon quest spoilers if you squint a little (scaramouche's part)
a/n : thank you for sending in your requests yall 😭 when i saw them i knew i had to get started right away (i hope you don't mind that i sort of roped in two requests at a time...). anyways, i had so many ideas for this, but this is what i eventually settled on! let me know if you enjoyed it!
- Arlecchino is very familiar with the art of donning different masks to adapt to certain situations. Sometimes she’s a graceful gentlelady, the perfect picture of poise; other times, she’s an enemy’s worst nightmare. With you, however, she’s learnt to strip away all that makes her a formidable Fatui Harbinger.
- Before she had met you, she had only known to speak coarse words that cut her tongue, sharp and biting like salt on a wound. But in your presence, those words simply dissolve. She wants nothing more in the world than to let you know how much she finds you endearing – simply put, she’s a master at the use of pet names.
- “Dearest, can you come here for a minute?” “It’s good to see you again, my love.” “You look amazing, darling.” – The both of you have been together for a long time, and yet her terms of endearment never fail to make you feel like you’re falling in love for the first time once again.
- Arlecchino doesn’t consider herself to be a lazy person, but you come before all, including her work. Canceled missions become more frequent – she just can’t seem to get enough of your company. Conversely, when she’s at work, the only thing at the back of her mind is getting home at the end of the day to see your smile again.
It’s the end of a brutally long day, and the sky is painted in the scenic reds and oranges of the sunset. The sky looks beautiful, Arlecchino thinks to herself, but it’s nothing compared to you. She blushes at the cheesy thought, and she feels like she could almost hear your bouts of laughter if she were to accidentally speak the sentiment out loud.
Arlecchino opens the front door to your shared home and puts her shoes to the side, surveying the house. She spies your figure sitting on the couch in the middle of the living room, and her pace picks up slightly, a small smile growing on her face. Your focus is angled downwards, and she could see a book resting in your lap.
Wordlessly, she climbs into the couch beside you, wrapping her arms around your waist tightly and burying her face into your neck.
“Good afternoon, Arle,” you say, reaching up to tangle your fingers in her snow-white hair. The only acknowledgement you receive for your greeting was her arms tightening around you.
It felt good to be home.
- After his fall from the ranks of the Fatui, the puppet who now calls himself a Wanderer has nothing much to do except…wander. And that’s exactly what he does – except when you’re always at the back of his mind, he finds himself partaking in some strange behaviors.
- You’re his rose-colored lens; he sees the world in relation to you. Anything he sees during his travels that remotely reminds him of you is coming back to your shared home with him. Most times, when you come back home from work, he’ll wordlessly hand you his trinket for the day and then scurry away – but not too fast to the point where you miss the blush rising on his cheeks.
Today he hands you a flower. It dangles between his fingers, its purple petals illuminated by the yellow light of the lamp. Just like every day before this one, he’s found something to give to you.
Unlike every day before this one, he meets your eyes, and speaks.
“Well? Are you going to take it or not?” The former Fatui Harbinger’s words don’t come out nearly as brazen as he would have liked, but you’ve come to realize that his usually harsh tone has mellowed out over the past few months. Must be Nahida’s doing.
You take the rose from his hands and smile gently at him, your heart warming at the cute gesture. “It’s very beautiful, thank you.”
He grunts in response, but his facial expression softens in the lamp light, and you know he’s glad to see you accept his gift.
- He isn’t very good with words, and although he tries to be, it just never works in his favor. His main way of showing affection is physical touch, which comes easier to him than terms of endearment. Something in particular that you both seem to enjoy (especially him) is when he carries you in his arms bridal style.
- If he could carry you in his arms forever, he would. If it’s raining and the path that you both are walking along is filled with puddles, expect him to carry you above it. Similarly, he might scold you for falling asleep on the couch, but he secretly enjoys picking you up and carrying you over to your bed.
- However, if you ask him about his affinity for holding you, he’ll simply ignore your questions.

WandaNat x Reader : Falling For You

Summary: You finally get everything you ever could’ve wanted.
Covers the “Campfire/Fireplace” square for fall bingo.
Genre: Fluff
Word Count: 2,169
* * * * * *
This was a terrible idea. One you knew you would come to regret agreeing to, but at the moment you were asked to participate, you couldn’t possibly say no.
With the two pairs of gorgeous green eyes staring at you coupled with an annoyingly knowing smirk and an adorable pout, there was no way you could deny their request.
That’s how you find yourself hiking a trail over fallen leaves, shivers rolling over your body as your two best friends chat away at your side.
They keep their voices at a low whisper, not allowing you to hear or be a part of their conversation. While you would normally feel some kind of way about it, you’re far too cold to sulk about it.
You furiously run your uncovered hands up and down your arms, hoping the friction of your jacket would warm you up and combat the cold surrounding you.
Apparently neither of them remembered to check the weather for the day. When you asked Natasha said it was fall and shrugged.
So you dressed accordingly, jeans, boots, a sweater and a jacket. It isn’t enough. It’s much colder than a normal fall day, instead it feels like the beginning of winter.
You look down at your feet. The crunch of the leaves beneath your boots is a little louder than usual since the morning dew had frozen, adding a small layer of ice over the dead foliage.
A huff falls from your lips and you drop your hands, shoving them into your pockets instead. It’s not like your rubbing was doing anything.
“How much further is this secret destination?” You ask.
Both women look over at you, small frowns on their faces at your tone of voice. You hadn’t meant to snap at them but cold was starting to affect your mood.
You smile apologetically and Natasha rolls her eyes and chuckles. Wanda knocks her elbow against Natasha’s arm, then moves to your other side.
She wraps her arm around your waist and pulls you close,“ it won’t be much longer detka.”
“Yeah,” Natasha pulls your hand from your pocket and laces your fingers with hers,“ we’re almost there dorogoy.”
Detka, dorogoy, lyubov. You have no idea what those words mean but she and Natasha were always calling you them. Sly little smiles would form on their lips when they did and you’d wish you knew why. All they would tell you is that it’s Russian and not a bad thing.
When Natasha squeezes your hand, Wanda lays her head on your shoulder, and you sigh.
It was things like this that made your friendship with them hard.
The two of them have been dating since before you even met. You first ran into them at the coffee shop you worked at. They came in and took a seat at a table in the corner and you approached them, almost instantly commenting on how cute they were together.
Your one comment led to a friendship you couldn’t imagine you’d find with anyone else. Which also led to feelings developing that you fought tooth and nail to reject.
They first came for Wanda, the younger woman being the first to hangout with you one on one. Her sweet and empathetic behavior and words drew you in like a moth to a flame.
Then you started spending time with Natasha. Your first hangout was awkward to say the least. You aren’t the most outgoing and Natasha was closed off, it caused very little conversation and very long silences.
Both of you were tempted to not hangout again without Wanda, but decided to give it one more go. Which is exactly what you needed. You can’t recall how the day started but it ended with you two having a blast at a cat cafe. Your mutual love for the soft purring animal made you close.
Every second you spent with them made you fall faster. Rejecting your feelings stopped being an option once they’d gotten so strong. Now you try your best to ignore it, though that doesn’t work much either.
Especially not when they’re so affectionate with you like this.
“Look look, we’re here.” Wanda says, squeezing you excitedly.
Natasha smiles and shakes her head at her girlfriend’s excitement and as you all turn the curve, your destination now in sight, she looks at you.
Her smile widens as she watches your eyes brighten.
To anyone else, a cabin in the woods might not mean much but both women know that to you it's much more than that. A tradition to put it quite plainly.
Your parents made it a point to take you to a cabin when the season changed, wanting you to experience nature and such.
You hated it at first but it grew to mean so much to you. Not just growing to appreciate nature but also loving every moment spent with your parents, loving the memories you made with them.
“Wait,” your eyes move from the cabin to Wanda then Nat,“ are we staying here?”
Pink lips form into the perfect smile and she nods.“ We know you haven’t been in a long time.”
The passing of your parents was rough, without them you never found the will to come to a cabin again even though you’d considered it. When you were finally ready, you didn’t have the time.
Of course you’d shared these thoughts with your best friends and you knew they were listening, but you didn’t think they’d do something about what you told them.
While you were lost in thought, the women were worried. You weren’t saying anything and they couldn’t help but wonder if they’d overstepped.
Their plan would completely go up in flames if you were uncomfortable with this.
Swallowing, Wanda unhooks her arm from yours and steps in front of you.“ Y/n, detka, we don’t want you to be uncomfortable so if you don’t want to stay we won’t.”
Her words pull you from your thoughts and you register what she said, which makes you immediately protest.
“No, no,” you gently grab her hand, squeezing hers and Natasha’s.“ I want to stay I just, was thinking. This is really sweet of you two, thank you.”
They share a smile, then Wanda excitedly tugs on your hand.“ You haven’t seen the inside yet, come on.”
With more excitement than you and Natasha combined, Wanda pulls you both to the cabin. She shows you around as if this isn’t her first time being here. You notice she doesn’t mention the bedroom situation but you chalk that up to her excitement and figure there are two bedrooms.
“This place is beautiful,” you all stop in the living room where you plop down on one of the cozy chairs.“ but I can’t stay. I don’t even have clothes.”
“Oh we took care of that.” Natasha waves you off as she moves off to the side in search of something.
Wanda answers your confusion.“ What did you think I was doing when I went to your bedroom?”
You nod in understanding, recalling how she stayed behind you and Natasha the whole way down to the car and dipped away to the trunk before you pulled off.
“Always thinkin of everything huh?” You joke, slouching in your seat.
Frowning, Wanda comes over to you and reaches down to grab your hands,“ don’t get comfortable here, we’re gonna go sit by the lake and watch the sunset.” She adds a pout and pulls on your hands.
“But it’s so cold out.” You whine, dropping your weight back to make it harder for her to pull you up.
She doesn’t give up though, continuing and struggling to pull you up.
A sudden presence appears behind you, the redhead whom you love lowers herself, her mouth right beside your ear.“ Come on dorogoy, we’ll start a fire. Keep you nice and toasty.” Her hand gently rubs your arm and all you can do is nod, seemingly put in a trance by her sultry voice flowing straight into your ear.
Letting up, you allow Wanda to pull you up and you follow the two outside.
The younger woman laces her fingers with yours as you walk down to the lake. It’s across the trail through a small stretch of trees.
It’s a welcome sight, seeing the expanse of trees on the other side of the lake and the rocks and logs surrounding a makeshift fire pit.
You and Wanda sit on a log, taking in the scenery while Natasha set up the fire. The instant you shiver Wanda wraps her arm around you, pulling you into her side and rubbing your arm. You resist the urge to sigh this time, especially when you look over and see the happy smile on her lips.
The second the fire is lit you feel its warmth added to the body heat coming from Wanda. It knocks the initial chills away, but it’s not until Natasha comes to sit at your other side, that you start to warm up internally.
She takes your hand, squeezing it as she speaks,“ Y/n there’s another reason we brought you out here.” With a small frown of curiosity you look over at her. Taking a deep breath, she meets your eyes and continues,“ f-for a while now, myself and Wanda have been wondering um,” she stops to collect her words and you’re left utterly shocked.
In the year of you knowing her, not once had you ever seen the redhead look so nervous and be at a loss for words. She is the most badass person you’d ever met and right now a red blush is rising on her cheeks.
“Wondering what?” You decide to turn your attention to Wanda, figuring that Nat could calm down if she weren’t the only center of attention, only to find the brunette is also blushing.“ What is it Wan?”
Her soft green eyes rise to look into yours and she swallows.“ Well, we figured out that um, we started to feel differently towards you. Like, the feelings we had for each other became feelings that we both had for you.”
It takes everything in you not to freeze up at her confession. A number of emotions swirl through you and you open your mouth to say something, only to register one particular word.
“Had?”
Wanda’s eyes widen but Natasha answers.“ Have. We currently feel this way about you and we were wondering if you would be interested in being with us?”
Your face suddenly splits into a grin, one that both women immediately adore seeing.“ Are you being serious?” You ask and they both nod.
All this time you’d been falling for them and it turns out they’d fallen for you too.
A quiet snicker escapes your lips and you shake your head, earning slightly confused looks from the women.“ You know, if I didn’t have feelings for you two this would’ve been a terrible plan.”
While you can’t possibly imagine not loving them, you could picture and laugh at the awkwardness that would’ve ensued had you said no and the three of you were stuck up here together.
“Well I don’t think it would’ve been that bad. We’re still best friends so a little awkwardness maybe but-”
“Nat,” Wanda cuts the redhead off, gaining her attention.“ You’re focusing on the wrong things lyubov.”
It’s then that Natasha addresses the beginning of your statement.“ Wait so you’ll go out with us?”
Smiling, you nod.“ Yes I will. I’ve never done the whole poly thing but, I’m more than willing to try for you.” You turn your smile to Wanda,“ both of you.”
They look past you to look at each other, bright smiles exchanged between them. Suddenly Wanda lunges towards you, wrapping you up in a big hug and peppering kiss over your face.
A snort of a laugh leaves you as she kisses you and you hug her back with one arm, your other still occupied with your hand in Natasha’s.
“Okay okay Maximoff. I love you too.” You say with another soft laugh.
She pulls back, smiling even brighter. Then a finger curls under your chin and your head is gently turned, eyes meeting another pair of gorgeous green eyes.
“We love you too detka.”
Ever so slowly she leans in and kisses you softly. You melt into the kiss, a quiet sigh of content at finally finally being able to do this. And when she pulls away, quickly pecking your lips again, you’re pulled into a kiss with Wanda.
Her lips are a little softer than Natasha’s and she kisses you with a little more restraint.
A quiet smack parts your lips and you lean back against Natasha.“ I think I could definitely get used to that.”
Both women chuckle softly, Wanda leaning back against you and Natasha wrapping both arms around you and the brunette.
Right there, sandwiched between the two women you love as the heat of the campfire warms you, you’re happy.

~~~
Salt burned your lungs as you tossed open your window with a loud bang, the seagulls perching on your flower boxes screeched in protest and flew from your window. “Fucking sky rats get the fuck out of here you heathens!” You snarled out the window shaking your fist at the bothersome birds, the sounds of the ocean crashing on the shore filled your ears as well as the chatter of the dock workers. You let the breeze blow back your hair and you heard someone calling your name from down below.
“Good morning (Y/n)!” You glanced below you and grinned,
“Morning Eret!” They waved back enthusiastically their dress spilling around their ankles, a basket of fruit was balanced on his hip. “Opening early today? I'm sure your patrons would be happy to start their drunken stupor early,” She held a hand to his mouth snickering and you shot them a look.
“If that gets more money in my pocket then so be it, I won't complain too much.” You shrugged, “Will I still see you later tonight?”
“Always do dove, how can I resist a drink from my favorite bartender.”
“You can’t it’s my charm.”
“Will the both of you shut the fuck up!” Another man’s voice growled from another open window, “It’s too early for your bullshit.” You saw Eret click his tongue but smiled up at you despite the man's protests,
“I’m heading to the market anyway. These fruits won’t sell themselves, I'll see you later.”
“See you soon!” You closed your windows once more, but not before urging your daisies to grow one last time. You tossed open the curtains allowing light to spill into your cozy home, a small carpet was in the middle of your room. It was a deep red and the pattern was made of gold yarn, aside from that everything in your residency was made of dark wood. Your shelves were littered with books and empty cups, and your old worn journal sat open on your desk. It was filled with childhood memories and you continued to write in it to this day, it was easier then, things were simple and everything was innocent and new to you. Now your days were filled with sea fairing idiots who liked to drink themselves stupid, but you could handle yourself, you always kept your father's dagger on your thigh at all times. Those who were frequent customers knew not to mess with you and those who were new learned their lesson within the first ten minutes of meeting you. You inherited the bar from your father, a kindhearted man who died a few years before today, leaving you with the bar and the dagger you had on your hip. You fished through your closet pulling out your clothes for the day, your dress was a gorgeous light coffee color and came down to your ankles. The bottom was flared and had dark brown panels on the sides, it faded inward to a light green then back to the coffee color. The corset around your waist was a dark brown with light green trim, you tied it tight with a small huff making sure your waist was sinched perfectly. The sleeves came down to your elbows allowing you to move your arms freely while making drinks. The top of the dress ended just below your collarbone, you strapped your dagger to your thigh before lacing up your knee-high black boots.
You thought back to your tavern downstairs, you were fortunate enough that you weren’t running this entire operation yourself. You ended up hiring help and they were like family and you knew they saw you as such as well. Most of the girls didn’t have a family of their own so you gave them room and board, also money, of course, you weren’t a terrible boss! You opened the door to your room, you watched Cecil, the tavern’s mascot trot out of Juniper’s room. The border collie liked to switch up which rooms he stayed in protecting every one of your girls when you couldn’t be there for them.
The first of your girls was Adelaide or Addie, she was one of the first to fall under your care. She was around your age, a motherly type, sheep hybrid, who cared for the girls, and always gave the drunk patrons with mommy issues a shoulder to cry on. Her long brown hair always hung down her back, she typically worked tables, served food and drinks, and always got a generous tip from patrons.
The next girl was Judas, a squid-enderman hybrid who was taller than you could ever wish to be, although intimidating you couldn’t meet a kinder woman. A jack of all trades the woman helped out wherever she could, black-ish purple hair curled around her shoulders and some people came specifically to hear her sing. Her voice was like rich velvet and lured men and women in like a siren.
Juniper was after Judas, a demon hybrid who was naive but you’d be a fool to underestimate her. She worked beside you at the bar, she can make some mean fruity drinks, Eret always preferred her drinks over yours. Freckles adorned her face and shoulders, her light brown hair curled down to her middle back, purple horns sprouted from the top of her head. You wanted to adorn it with gold jewelry and you were saving up to gift some to her.
Yeti was a human woman like yourself, she didn’t bother with those who were rude or obnoxious. She kept to herself only really talking when she was spoken to or when there was an opportunity to crack a rare joke. She typically stayed on the sidelines, out of the scenes and Yeti liked to help Judas decorate her sets.
Zig was a kind young adult, they got along with everyone who came inside the tavern. Soft emerald eyes drew people in, and they tried to make sure tensions within the bar didn’t rise and start a fight. There would always be one or two that’s just natural, but one look at Zig and his magic words and they seemed to disperse, not wanting to hurt the kid’s feelings.
Vendetta was the tallest member of the group you had taken in, she was stunningly beautiful and didn't take shit from anybody. She was a guard dog if you will, making sure no one fucked with any of the girls in your tavern. While Zig did their best to keep people under control sometimes they couldn’t win. That’s when Ven would step in and ‘kindly’ escort them off the premises with or without force.
The youngest member here was Luvena. She was a moo-bloom hybrid with soft brown hair that sprouted flowers, her cow ears would twitch when she was excited and followed Addie around like she was her daughter. Addie took her under her wing and was training her to be a perfect little waitress, absolutely warming customers’ hearts. Luvena also loved to give out flowers, she was a fan favorite bringing new life into the tavern.
Cecil barked seeing his mama and scampered over to you, you poured food into his bowl as Juniper wandered into the hallway. Her head rested on the doorframe as she gave you a tried wave, “Morning (Y/n).”
“Morning Juni, We’re opening a little early today. Take your time I’m not expecting a big rush of bar patrons this early.” You assured her and she gave a sleepy nod,
“I’ll be down as soon as Ven’s out of the shower.” She yawned, “This beauty doesn’t come naturally.”
“Hardly darling you’re gorgeous just the way you are.” You reassured with a wink, Juniper flushed a little, happily laughing beside you.
“Just go wake the others will you, you flirt!”
Tossing your head back you gave a happy laugh heading down the hallway to make sure everyone was awake and ready to go for later. Addie and Luvena shared a room so she was in charge of waking up the youngest member of the tavern. Judas was already awake making breakfast for everyone when you headed downstairs, Zig was sitting on the counter beside her, they were the designated taste tester.
“Good morning Miss (Y/n)!” Zig chirped, the young adult hummed fondly, “Sleep okay?”
“Absolutely. What about you both? Thank you for making breakfast Judas.” You hummed fondly and Judas had a shy smile on her face.
“I slept well thank you.” Judas hummed softly, “Also it’s my pleasure. Want to make sure everyone’s healthy and alright.” She let out a little squeak as you wrapped your arms around her body, you barely came up to her chest,
“Judas please marry me,” You complained, “Your breakfast is always heavenly and you care for everyone. Please be my wife.”
“(Y/n)! Please.” She sputtered face turning a dark purple, Zig made a noise of protest and held his hand in the air.
“If she won’t marry you I will!”
“Zig! I’d be honored!”
Their entire face lit up with excitement and they hopped off the table to hug you tightly, you hugged them back and pressed a fond kiss to the top of their head. “I got to open up the tavern, you mind setting the table for me Zig?”
“Sure Miss!”
You sent Judas a kiss in the air which her face burned at, quickly going back to her cooking. You smiled eagerly and unlocked the door to the tavern, you shoved a bucket in front of the door to keep it open. The salty ocean air wafted through your nostrils and your eyes sparkled wondrously.
Today is going to be a good day.
Almost immediately a particular bastard caught your eye,
“You’re here early.” You mused raising an eyebrow,
“Heard you were opening early today sweetcheeks,” His voice was a low baritone, rough from years of smoking and drinking. Horns curled around his fluffy ears that stood out against his gruff exterior, he was a ram hybrid at its finest. “Figured I’d take the opportunity to get a special drink from my special girl,” He mused looking you up and down drinking in your figure. You scoffed at the retired man, he dressed like he was cosplaying captain jack sparrow, the gun’s in his belt just added to his costume and so did his large ruffled shirt, he was never one to forget his gold jewelry.
“Where’s Quackity?” You ignored him sitting him at his usual table, he frowned but you knew he was taking it as an opportunity to stare at your ass. He slid into the stool and put his feet up on the table, his boots were muddy but you could only control him so much. He was too much of a regular to get scared off by your threats and scolding.
“He’ll be in at his normal time. He’s not much of a day drinker, although can’t say I’m complaining. Having all your attention on me and all, considering I’m the only one in here. That being said, I’ll have my usual sweetcheeks.”
“Stop calling me that,” You scolded with a certain fondness that was reserved for the man. “You’re lucky you’re my favorite regular Schlatt,” you gave his ears a fond pinch and he bleated. He sent you a scalding look as you walked away, although the look soon fell as he got a good look at your ass once again.
“I’m your only regular sugar tits!”
“Schlatt feet off the table.” Addie criticized whacking his boots with a rolled-up menu, he rolled his eyes but dropped his feet to the floor. “You should know this by now, we go through this every day.”
“Yeah, yeah little lamb I’m on it. Judas here?”
“She’s always here,” She huffed spreading the menu down on the table. “Do you want your usual or something different? Should I get Quackity’s drink ready too?”
“Nah just stick with mine, for now, tell Judas I’d like to see her.”
Addie clicked her tongue and placed her hand on her hip, “fine. But if you’re just going to grossly flirt with her as you do with (y/n), then keep it to yourself.”
“You’re not the boss of me. Just because you look like an old hag-” The way she glared at him sent a chill down his spine, “shit babe take a joke will you.”
Eventually, people began to file into the tavern, as the morning faded into the afternoon and then into the evening. The tavern was bustling with life, Judas’s elegant voice traveled through the crowds and her voices seemed to float above the voices. Quackity joined Schlatt by his side seemingly irritated by a conversation they were having, Schlatt was about five drinks in at this point, which was much less than his usual, and Quackity on his second.
“What are they talking about?” Luvena asked swinging her legs as she sat on the bar beside you. Her moobloom ears twitching every so often as she tried to eavesdrop on their conversation,
“Vena it’s impolite to eavesdrop.” You scolded bopping her on the head lightly, she whined and rubbed the top of her head.
“I wasn’t!” She argued as you rolled your eyes, you looked over at the two men to find Quackity looking over at you. His hand was raised in the air, one finger was up summoning you to get him another drink.
“I’ll be back, why don’t you talk to Ven while I’m gone. She’ll keep an eye on you.”
“I don’t need a babysitter!”
“Good thing she doesn’t want to babysit your ass either, now shoo.” You motioned her to hop off the bar and she did so with a long, dramatic sigh. You looked over at Ven who gave you a silent nod, letting you know she’d watch out for the youngest member of your band of misfits. Meanwhile, you grabbed Quackity another drink and walked over to the two men at the table, “Someone order a drink?”
“Aye! Mamacita! Fancy seeing you here.” Quackity purred a bright smile spreading across his face seeing that you were the one to deliver his drink,
“Hey Big Q,” You greeted placing the drink in front of him, “You doing okay?”
“Better now that an angel walked into my sight,” He flirted and you rolled your eyes. “What? It’s true! You always brighten my day you know? Ow!” Schlatt hit his ex-first mate over the head,
“Take a breath lover boy. Thanks for the drink sugar tits.”
“You’re welcome, what were the both of you talking about if I may ask.” You hummed grabbing some of Schlatt’s empty glasses, an uncharacteristic frown came over both their faces. “Oh? Touchy subject?”
“Don’t worry about it, sweetheart. Just dishing out some old problems, most of which are better left unsaid.” He aimed that statement at Quackity, his jaw seemed clenched and Quackity’s brow furrowed in annoyance.
“Well I just want to remind the both of you,” You passed the tray of empty glasses over to Addie as she walked by, she took them swiftly. You grabbed the side of both their heads and pressed them against your chest, not that you knew but both men’s flushed to the tips of their ears. “No physical fights are allowed in this tavern. If one starts I won’t hesitate to kick your fucking asses. Got it?” They looked over your chest and locked eyes with one another, after years on the sea they could read one another’s facial expressions rather easily and at that moment they shared the same thought,
‘They should fight more often.’
“I said, got it?”
“Yes ma’am,” The repeated simultaneously as you pulled away,
“That’s what I like to hear-”
“(Y/n)!” Vendetta’s velvety voice called out from behind you, you turned and saw a group of newcomers file into your bar. Your body tensed momentarily,
Pirates.
Schlatt turned his head to follow your gaze and he tensed from behind you, “fuck me.” He growled and Quackity raised an eyebrow at his captain, he turned to look over his shoulder and his face lit up.
“Sapnap!”
The pirate who had a white bandana tied around his forehead glanced over at him and a smile lit up across his features. “Quackity? Is that you?”
“My man!” He stood up from his chair heading over to wrap the man in a hug, “I haven’t seen you in years, man.” You zoned out of their conversation eyes locking with a few of the other pirates who walked into the tavern. Vendetta and Addie both greeted them, but everyone who was under your care knew to keep their guard up around pirates. From what you could gather there seemed to be two crews, a crew of what only seemed to be two, Sapnap was included. The fire demon was still talking with Quackity, while the other man took in the view of the tavern, he had shaggy blonde hair, and had a few scars across his face. A porcelain mask sat on top of his head, a forest green cloak was around his shoulders, his hood was lowered around his neck. A sword was strapped tight against his hip and there was another dagger that seemed to be tucked against his side. His eyes gazed towards you and he winked teasingly with a coy smile, you scoffed looking over at Addie.
“Seat those two gentlemen yeah? Be careful, I’ll tell Ven and Yeti to keep an eye.” Addie looked at you, concern written on her soft features but she nodded. While Addie departed, you noticed Ven talking with the other group. Luvena was hiding behind Vendetta’s long legs, although a tall blonde boy seemed very keen on talking to her. You smoothed out your dress and moved towards the group of three, you eyed them up casually. The blonde looked to be around Luvena’s age, he had a shit-eating grin on his face and his uniform matched that of the second tallest in the group. The second tallest was clad in a light blue jacket with large golden buttons on the red collar. He had a cream-frilled shirt underneath and a black belt holding up his brown slacks, those were tucked into black boots. On his back seemed to be a guitar and was the only one of them not holding a weapon, but you knew better than to assume with pirates. His curly brown hair seemed to bounce every time he talked, he seemed to be the ringleader but there was no doubt that the real ringleader was the hybrid standing beside him. He was taller, on par with Vendetta in height, he had long pink hair that was tied in a ponytail on top of his head. A few pieces framed his face elegantly, there was no doubt he was the captain of the little crew that was in your tavern. He had a white shirt on with a deep low cut ‘V’ it showed off a good portion of his scared chest, around his shoulders sat a deep red jacket but his arms were outside of it and crossed over his chest. He seemed content on letting his second in command do all the talking, his red eyes were the only ones to meet yours. His head tilted upwards and before Vendetta could stop him he walked over towards you,
“You own the tavern?” His voice was a low monotone and it sent an array of pleasant chills up your spine.
“I do,” You raised an eyebrow crossing your arms over your chest, “Names (Y/n). You are?”
“Captain Technoblade of the ship Odyssey, I was hoping you had a few rooms and a table available. My brothers and I are pretty exhausted, we’ve been sailing all night.”
Brothers, they certainly didn’t all look alike, but then again you certainly had a mix of girls in your care. Your tongue swiped against the top row of your teeth, “Why don’t you and your brothers take a seat at the bar for now. Juniper will be happy to serve you, I’ll see if we have some free rooms available.”
“Thank you, once you return I’ll introduce them to you if you’d like,” Technoblade bowed his head before turning back to get his brother’s attention.
“I’d like that thank you.” You gave a nod motioning for Vendetta to follow you as you slid behind the bar with Juniper, Judas had also taken a spot sitting on the bar. You figured you’d let her know as well, considering she was another adult figure in the group. You knew either Juniper or Judas would fill in Addie considering the three were close. “Ven, can they be trusted?”
“Not too sure about the masked man, the one Quackity seems to be familiar with seems decent enough. He’s a fire demon though, could smell him from miles away, we all just need to be cautious.”
“Agreed,” Juniper added tapping her finger on her chin. “We should just try to curb all fighting if at all possible, what did the captain of the other group ask you?”
“They want a room, I’m about to check to see if we have availability. Thoughts on that?”
Judas let out a low hum her eyes followed both sets of pirate groups around the tavern, “I say if we have availability let them stay. They seem harmless so long as we don’t mess with them, which we’d never do.”
“Plus I can always stay awake to keep an eye on them.” Vendetta tapped her nails against the table,
“You sure.”
“As if I’d let anything happen to any of you, you’re my family.”
You all smiled softly, and you noticed Judas’s eyes widen, “Zig! Get that out of your mouth this instant!” She shot up from her spot and over to the person in question. The three of you laughed fondly at the nonsense, meanwhile, Juniper saw the three brothers sit at her bar. She moved away from you to greet them, you immediately could tell she was taken with the second eldest brother.
He seemed to be an absolute lady killer.
Vendetta ruffled your hair before going back to stand at her place by the door to keep the peace. You headed up the stairs to the rafters to check on the extra rooms you had, “Excuse me?” You tensed visibly turning around to face the man in all green. His eyes were mesmerizing, a fierce jade green to contrast his cloak, “Do you happen to have two rooms available?” The man held up two fingers to clarify his request,
“Do you usually start introductions with a blatant request like that?”
He chuckled a smile spreading across his lips, “I’m Dream and you gorgeous?”
“(Y/n), it’s your lucky day I’m about to check and see if any are available. My tavern is a hot commodity tonight.”
“Well, I can see why,” he spoke and you raised an eyebrow and tilted your head to the side.
“Oh?”
“It has the hottest owner around. Word spreads fast.”
You couldn’t believe this man was making your cheeks burn, he chuckled softly taking a step towards your figure. “Oh really, word spreads that fast on the open sea, Captian?” It was his turn to turn light pink, but he covered it up quickly with a chuckle.
“Touché.”
“I’ll get on that room for you and your friend. Take a seat, for now, this part is for guests and staff only you know?”
“So I have you all to myself?” He cheekily mused, he stepped towards you and before you knew it you were pinned against a wall. His hand suddenly brushed against your cheek, it was cold in comparison to your warm cheek. You felt Dream’s thumb brush against your cheek slowly, “You know...being on the open sea alone does something to a person.”
“Oh, I’m sure.” You mused pushing your forehead back against Dream’s, “All alone with only your crew with you.” Taking his other hand within your own you slid it up to your hip, you saw his entire face turn red as he stared down at your chest. “You’re probably missing a little love in your life, aren’t you Dreamy?” He nodded dumbly, his eyes still not leaving your chest,
Perfect. You weren’t going to let some pirate boy get the better of you.
He let out a grunt of pain as you spun him around and pressed his head into the wall with your elbow, your other hand has his pinned behind his back. “This hallway is for staff and guests only,” You purred in his ear before letting him go and swinging your hips before heading up the stairs fully. From behind you, Dream’s face was a deep, dark red and he had to clear his throat. Dream wasn’t going to let you go after that, I mean look at you, tough and able to hold your own, it awakened something inside him.
After checking up on the rooms you headed back down into the main hall, three-room keys in your hand. Glancing over at the scene in front of you, you saw Juniper dancing in the middle of the tavern the flirtatious brother at her side. Judas was sitting beside Schatt and Quackity at the bar, Addie was tending to Technoblade and the blonde at their little table. Dream and Sapnap were whispering to one another in the corner but still seemed to be enjoying the show. Vendetta was smiling softly by the door, beside her were Luvena and Zig both playing various instruments. You noticed Eret was also amongst the crowd, she had a brilliant grin on his face, it was flushed pink with alcohol and you smiled to yourself.
It was peaceful, and for a moment you forget half the patrons were scoundrels or pirates.
That was until the man dancing with Juniper locked eyes with you, his eyes lit up and he spun Juniper off into Addie’s arms. She giggled snuggling into the mother sheep’s arms, you heard a distressed “Juni! I’m holding glasses!” Before your vision was overtaken by the handsome flirt.
“Hello love,” He hummed, “May I offer you a dance?”
You were about to refuse but you saw Yeti, who finally made her appearance as it was getting closer to Judas’s set, giving you a big thumbs up “I’d be honored.” You responded taking his hand within your own, he pulled you out onto the dance floor and you felt his other hand politely hover on the small of your back. He allowed you to lean into his touch as he began to elegantly spin you around the dance floor, you were almost embarrassed to say felt like a princess. “Maybe I could get your name?” You asked above the music, “Since it seems you’re my dance partner this evening?”
“Wilbur Soot my love.” He hummed proudly, “The first mate of the ship Odysseus at your service. Plus I play music on the side.”
“Well now you need to play for us,” Wilbur twirled you around in a circle,
“Maybe one day. If you give me your name?”
“(Y/n) (L/n).”
“Beautiful name for a beautiful woman.”
“I was right.” You commented biting the bottom of your lip trying not to smile,
“About what?”
“You.”
“Ah? Already talking about me I see? Is my manliness and gentlemanly qualities that renowned?”
“Not exactly.” He picked you up slightly and pulled you into a low dip, “I was right in thinking you a nothing but a flirty playboy.” Wilbur almost dropped you, you squawked grabbing onto his neck. He began to laugh as you clung to his chest,
“Alright love. You caught me red-handed.”
Wilbur set you on your feet hands on your lower back, you were pulled close to his chest. “Can I buy you a drink?”
“I get them for free hon. I own the place.”
“Oh...oh.” He paled a little, “I didn’t fuck up our chances of getting a room did I?”
“Nah lucky for you and your brothers, I have you covered, same with your buddies over there.” You motioned to Dream and Quackity’s friend, Wilbur’s face paled as he felt the chilled room key get placed in his palm. “What’s your little brother’s name?”
“Tommy.”
“Tell them both we serve breakfast free from 7 am to 10 am.” He nodded as you walked past, Wilbur meanwhile turned to look at Technoblade. It seemed he had his red eyes on the couple the entire time they were dancing. He held up a room key, it was labeled 205; Technoblade nodded his head before leaning back and talking to Addie once more. “Dream!” You called throwing a hand up into the air, instead of Dream, Sapnap looked up he nudged Dream with his elbow. The man was now wearing his mask, but at least you could tell he was looking at you,
“Well hello, darlin’ you must be (Y/n). Name's Sapnap. Dream told me about you, so you have good news for us I hope?”
“Pleasure, I'm sure he told you all about me,” He nodded, his eyes taking in your body especially your ass. “Got you both a room key, your neighbors. Across from the other crew of pirates. Just don’t fight and we won’t have any problems.”
“You mean those jackasses are staying?” Sapnap complained loudly, looking over your shoulder at the other crew members.
“You both didn’t think you were the only patrons, did you? This is a business after all.” You, tossed the keys their way, Dream caught it with ease and Sapnap fumbled it only a little bit. After they were in their hands, you waved them off with a flutter of your palm you turned around to go speak with Judas about her set but before you could take a step you saw Schlatt stumbling up from his seat. “Ah shit,” You knew what was about to happen, you weren’t paying attention to the ram hybrid so who knew how many drinks in he was. You felt responsible, for a while you and Judas had been trying to help Schlatt with his addiction. You couldn’t help but wonder what exactly set him off for him to get this drunk, Quackity caught him in his arms with a grumble. The man was a drunken mess, and as you approached you could hear his slurred speech and could practically smell the alcohol on his breath. “Schlatt,” You spoke carefully and as soon as you got close Schlatt detached himself from Quackity and lunged at you. His head was buried in his chest, he almost purred like he was very happy to be there, you rolled your eyes and ran your fingers through his hair. You were mindful of his horns but he seemed pretty eager for you to touch them,
“(Y/n).” He whined although it was muffled against your ample chest, “Why do pirates have to fuck everything up?”
“What are you on about Schlatt? No one likes pirates.”
“They’re gonna take you away from me, sugar. You’re my safe space, this tavern is my safe space.” You sighed listening to his drunken ramblings, you grabbed his horns and pulled him away from your chest.
“This is my life Schlatt, I’m not going anywhere trust me. Plus my family is here, they need me. So try not to worry okay?” You slicked back the hair on his forehead before planting a fond kiss there, everyone in the tavern narrowed their eyes at the scene. Even your girls were green with envy, at the sight of their lovely boss kissing someone who wasn’t them. He leaned against your lips eyes fluttering closed,
“Well, well, well if it isn’t Captian Schlatt? Or ex-captain if I remember correctly.”
“What?”
You turned your head and felt Schlatt’s arms wrap around your waist and held you close to his chest. The touch was protective and you felt your heart skip a beat, why was he protecting you, and why did you actually feel protected?
“Has the drinking finally caught up to you? Or was it the fact that you lost your so-”
Was that Dream's voice?
“Shut the fuck up.” He snarled and you were shoved behind him into Quackity’s arms, you felt less protected. “I’m not that person anymore and you fucking know that,” Vendetta came to stand beside the both of you a hand was placed on your shoulder protectively. You knew she was desperately wanted to step in and you held up a hand to stop her.
“This isn’t good…” Quackity murmured, “They’re going to fight. Schlatt’s going to get himself fucking killed.”
“Calm yourself. We won’t let it get that far.” Ven grumbled eyeing you waiting for your signal. But you were lost in the conversation or argument, the two were having, you couldn’t believe Schlatt was a pirate. He was so...he just didn’t...he was a drunk okay? That didn’t exactly shout feared pirate to you!
“Oh, are you sure? I remember that look, that’s the look you’d get before you stomped someone’s lights out. No wonder your son disappeared under mysterious circumstances-” Dream was shoved against one of the poles holding up the building. He grunted and Schlatt’s arm was pulled back ready to punch, but his arm was stopped by smaller hands,
“Pardon me Mr. Schlatt but you know how we feel about fighting in our tavern.” Addie bubbled, she had a smile on her face but it wasn’t kind, it was full of warning.
“Get the fuck off me, sheepie. This doesn’t fucking concern you.” Schlatt shoved her away and as soon as his skin made contact with her body he made a sound of distress.
“(Y/n)...” Addie murmured quietly, your father’s dagger was embedded in Schlatt’s arm,
“Fucking hell you bitch!” He snarled baring his teeth, you glared at him twisting the dagger he yelled in agony.
“Touch one of my girls again and next time this dagger is going right into your back.” You ripped the dagger out, splattering the floor with blood. He grabbed his arm tightly and looked at you with slight betrayal in his yellow eyes. “I mean it Schlatt, Quackity take him home.” The man nodded looking at you longingly, he muttered a quiet ‘Sorry’ before escorting him out of your tavern. “You,” You glared harshly over at Dream, “Go to your room.”
“You’re not my mother.”
“Then find another play to stay.” You spat, he turned away and you looked over at Addie, “Are you alright?” Your voice turned tender as you cupped her cheeks. She nuzzled against your palms and nodded her head,
“I’m fine. You didn’t need to-”
“Yes, I did. No one messes with you. With any of you on my watch.”
The sheep hybrid made a little sound as her bottom lip trembled, she wrapped you in a tight hug which you accepted without hesitance. Judas walked over next and wrapped you both in her arms, pretty soon you were surrounded by your girls and Zig.
All of them had the same mindset: comforting both you and Addie.
It was good to be loved.
Wilbur watched the scene curiously and glanced over at Technoblade who stood up from his chair.
“I think that’s our cue to leave for the night.” He looked over at his first mate, Wilbur nodded in agreement grabbing his guitar from the chair beside Technoblade.
“They...Techno were they talking about Tubbo.” Tommy whispered to his brother, his brow furrowing in concern as they all climbed the steps up to their room, “You don’t think-”
“It just might be Tommy.” Technoblade tilted his head to the side, “Guess that’ll be something we ask him when we get back to the ship tomorrow.”
“Well, this trip is going to be way more fun than I thought.” Wilbur snickered lighting a cigarette, taking a long drag, before letting the smoke curl out of his mouth and up into the rafters. ~~~
"Listen, I don't give a fuck about your friend—I wanna get to know you better."
“Um, excuse me? Have you seen my friend?”
The ash-blond swimming in smoke stills, mid-conversation with some half-dressed woman to his right. In fact, all the half-dressed women snap their heads your way, all ten of them, sizing you up in your non-promiscuous dress and heels (not compared to theirs, at least) and obvious awkwardness and uncouthness. The ash-blond frowns.
“How’d you fuckin’ get in here?”
“Um,” you glance at the green-haired bouncer who let you through—he’s too busy guarding the entrance to notice. “I just pretended like I knew who you were and he...let me in?”
“Fuckin’ Deku,” the ash-blond groans, rubbing a hand over his face before tossing it over the back of the booth. “Whadd’ya want?”
“Um, I was wondering if you’ve seen my friend,” you repeat, hands fiddling with your bracelets as you crack under the pressure of all the eyes. “She’s um, kinda short with long brown hair. I don’t...it was hard to see the color of her dress in the dark, but I think it was purple?”
The ash-blond blinks as you fumble over your words, causing a second of silence where he does nothing but stare until he snaps, digging his cigar into the ash-tray with finality.
“All right. Shoo, ladies.”
The women surrounding the ash-blond whine and boo. He seems unfazed though, simply shrugging as he says:
“Gotta help this pretty thing find her friend.”
The women clear out quickly and quietly after that. And though you’re unsure why, many of them shoot very nasty looks your way as they pass under the neon red exit sign and into the chaotic club. They look like they want to kill you.
Anyways.
“So...does that mean you know where my friend is?”
“Nope,” the ash-blond says, popping the ‘p’ as he adjusts to the extra space in the booth. “But you get a solid fuckin’ view from up here. Sit.”
You nod and take the spot next to him, scanning the crowd below with narrowed eyes. You look for something, anything that could hint at where your friend could be, but wind up empty-handed.
"D'ya come here often?" he asks, and you shake your head.
"No. I mean, I heard the place is kind of new anyway, so," you shrug absentmindedly. You think you see your friend for a second, just catching a glimpse of brown hair, but once the girl turns, it's clear she's not who you're looking for. Dammit.
"Guess so," the man grunts. You hear him shift but you don't look. "The o—"
"Shoes, did you see her shoes?" You ask before realizing your thought process is light years ahead of his. He gives you a blank look. "I mean—sorry, they're like, really high stilettos with gold on the bottom. I think."
The stranger's angled eyebrows drop. "No."
"Dammit," you click your tongue, before turning back to the crowd. No...no...no...no...
"Listen, I'm not gonna sugar coat it—I don't give a fuck about your friend." He says with a sigh. Your head snaps to look at him because it doesn't matter if he meant it, that's rude, but your thoughts disintegrate into nothing as he grabs you by the chin and says, "I wanna get to know you better."
"Um," You swallow. He's close to the point where your eyes cross trying to put him into focus. "M-Me?"
"You," he confirms with a cocked eyebrow. "What, never been the center of attention before, Princess?"
You falter. Not like this.
"So," he continues when you don't respond. "What's your name, Princess? I'm Katsuki."
You give him yours and meet his hand halfway for a handshake, much too aware of how big it is compared to yours. Katsuki hums, both arms on either side of your being and ultimately, caging you to the booth.
"Y/N..." He repeats, experimentally, like he's trying to see how it fits in his mouth. You don't mind the way it sounds coming from him. "I like it.”
"O-Oh, um," you're unsure of what to say, so you do nothing but blush and place a hand to his chest. You try your hardest to hide your surprise upon feeling how firm it is. "Thank you."
"Don't gotta thank me for stating the obvious," Katsuki grunts, adjusting so his eyes are leveled with yours. "What do you like to do, Y/N?"
There's a hand on your thigh.
It sits right where your dress stops, and it burns—but you find yourself unsure of what you want it to do, whether you want it to go away or continue its journey up. And that's exactly what it does, as Katsuki thumbs the hem to your skirt and you try your hardest to focus on your reply.
"U-Um..." you panic, too much heat in his eyes for comfort. "I don't know."
Katsuki raises an eyebrow in faint amusement, "You don't know?"
"W-Well, I mean—!" You try after realizing how utterly empty-headed you must sound. Katsuki's chuckle diffuses your efforts fairly quickly.
"You're cute, you know that?" He says gruffly, carmine red eyes burning through the dark of the club. You suppress the urge to shrink.
"I—um, thank you," you flush embarrassingly red. Katsuki's eyes study your being for a moment, flickering up and down, and up again until he's tapping the side of your thigh twice.
"Sit in my lap, Princess."
He guides you using your wrist and for some reason you allow him to guide you into his lap, grunting as he nestles you on him comfortably as he overlooks the club. You falter upon feeling something...strangely hard. “What’s that?”
“My dick,” Katsuki grunts, almost absentmindedly, and yet the vulgar comment takes you so off guard that it nearly knocks the wind out of you.
“Oh.”
“‘S your fault for gettin’ me all worked up, Princess,” Katsuki’s hands find their way around your waist before they’re guiding your hips into rolling small, smooth circles against him. Katsuki’s back thumps against the back of the booth as he admires the view, groaning behind a bitten lip. “Told ya to sit still and you didn’t listen.”
You suppose that’s valid.
Plus, you’re enjoying the little groans he’s letting out—along with the sharp inhales when your hips dig harder into his.
“How um—how do I help?”
“Just keep sittin’ pretty, Princess,” Katsuki growls, and you nod, allowing him to guide your hips to his will. It’s a lot of movement, and you find yourself shying away from the balcony as he hikes your dress up to your waist—ultimately exposing the entirety of your lower half. Your goosebumps rise.
“What if people see?”
”They won’t. We’re too high up,” Katsuki soothes, rubbing a thumb over your ribcage as he hooks his chin over your shoulder. “And if they’re fuckin’ nosy? Let ‘em see. The sick fuckers will appreciate the show.”
Let them see. You shiver at that.
Katsuki’s running his hot hands all over your body and they make you feel nothing short of sexy, sliding them up the sides of your body until they curve over your breasts, and drop back down to your hips. They move as if they’re mapping out your body, trying to figure out what makes you tick and what makes you crumble, and you sigh along with the satisfying glide.
“Fuck...you have a better body than those girls ever will,” he groans, but you flush at the way he seems to say it more to himself than to you. “Fuckin’ perfect, fuck.”
“T-Thank you,” you flush, unsure if you were supposed to take the praise or not. Katsuki chuckles.
“So fuckin’ cute, too. You’re welcome, Princess.” His hands move from your waist to the sides of your thighs, tapping twice with open palms. “Squat.”
“Squat?” You confirm with furrowed eyebrows. Katsuki grunts and manhandles you to your feet with a sigh. There isn’t a whole lot of space between the booth and the railing, forcing you to fold over the banister with the cool thing pressing into your gut and your arms keep you from falling completely. You shiver from the cool air as his fingers hook around the fabric of your panties, and then you feel something hot kiss your entrance before Katsuki’s guiding you back down using your hips.
You’re full of him, immediately, and you struggle to hide a whimper as he wastes no time in bottoming out.
“O-Oh—“
“Never had somethin’ this big before, huh Princess?” Katsuki’s strained voice is the only evidence that lets you know he’s feeling good, and you’re tightening around him with a nod.
“N-No, definitely not.”
You have to rest your head against the buzzing railing to just breathe through it, to adjust, and Katsuki chuckles at your shuddering chest. He taps a steady rhythm that matches the beat of the music into your side but doesn’t move, and you find a strange comfort in the vibrating club, with the addition of something inside you providing a uniquely comfortable warmth.
"C-Can I—"
"No," Katsuki grunts, placing heavy hands on your hips to ensure you'll stay in place. "Find your fuckin' friend, first. Y'got a good view."
You whimper and nod, resting your forehead against the cool railing. Fuck—he fills you up too well. As you watch people live their lives down below, you rake your eyes through the crowd in search of a purple dress—and you come up empty.
"I-I don't even know if she's here," you defend, chest shuddering. Katsuki chuckles, though it's laced with something heavier.
"Really? 'Cause you were so fuckin’ sure about twenty minutes ago."
Katsuki's hand cracks against your ass—with a sound you're surprised no one heard over the music—and you yelp. "Dirty fuckin' girl, grinding back on my cock. Impatient girls get punished, you know."
You nearly moan behind a bitten lip. You weren't even aware you were moving.
“F-Found her,” you barely croak out, so relaxed your upper body practically drapes off the balcony. Katsuki snorts, leaning forwards so his mouth is flush against the back of your neck—you gasp from the adjustment.
“Prove it.” He grunts breathily, clearly in a similar condition.
“U-Um, the gold stilettos," you barely manage, and Katsuki hisses as you tighten around him to point down into the fray—lo and behold, there she is, in the middle of the goddamn dance floor with some guy you've never seen before. You...suppose you're in a similar situation. A better one.
"Good girl," the ash-blond coos. Shivering, your hips rolling on their own, but this time Katsuki lets them. You don't stop. “Fuckin’ choking my cock, shit.”
His hands get a little shaky and though it’s hard to discern through your own arousal, you take note of how thin his voice sounds, and continue to roll your hips in the way that makes him shiver. Katsuki starts to trail kisses up your neck which turns into a bite of your earlobe, causing you to hiss from the feeling.
“‘S good?” You ask—Katsuki’s chest vibrates against your back.
“Fuckin’ perfect,” he huffs, guiding hands sliding down your waist. “Keep goin’.”
Not that you were planning on stopping.
Katsuki’s hands slide between your thighs to rub at your clit. You nearly shout, thighs seizing, and the ash-blond chuckles at your inability to stay quiet as if he wasn’t sliding a free hand up your dress to play with your chest.
“Dirty fuckin’ girl—you aren’t even trying to hide it now, are ya? Moanin’ in the club like a goddamn whore.”
You nearly choke at that, slamming a hand over your lips to muffle the sound. Not that anyone would be able to hear you over the club music, but still. Public decency.
Either way, your reaction has Katsuki chuckling, and he hooks his chin over your shoulder as he says, “You like it when I call you dirty, Princess? You like when I point out how fuckin’ filthy you are for me?”
You nod your head vehemently, now bouncing on Katsuki’s cock with a newfound enthusiasm—and you figure the slap on your ass is a signal to respond.
“Answer me, slut.”
“Y-Yeah, I do,” you whimper, and Katsuki’s hand crawls from your breasts to your neck, cutting off your oxygen supply in the best way. Your eyes roll to the back of your head, nearly gasping as you slur:
“Gonna—gonna cum.”
“Yeah? Gonna cum all over my cock in the middle of a club, huh?” Katsuki’s chuckle strains from arousal and you’re positive he’s not that far behind. The hand on your clit speeds up and Katsuki curses as you tighten around him, teeth digging into the meat of your shoulder.
“Cum for me, Princess, fuckin’ do it—“
You squeeze around him with a shout before your orgasm comes over you, shoulders shuddering. Katsuki groans out a broken good girl before his hips buck and grip tightens around your waist as he cums, hands guiding your hips to ride both of your orgasms out until they finally come to a still.
You shiver as Katsuki catches his breath in your neck. Eventually, your racing hearts beat in time with the music and bodies cool enough to not feel so slick with sweat, and finally, Katsuki pulls out with a groan. He doesn't remove you from his lap, though.
"You good?"
You nod, fixing your hair in hopes that you'll look more put together than you feel. "Yeah—yeah I'm fine. You?"
Katsuki turns you in his lap to face him (though it does take some awkward clambering due to the limited space). He zips up his fly and you pull down your dress, the next steps about as uncertain as walking in the dark.
"Why're you asking me?"
"I dunno," you shrug, bottom lip poking out in indifference, "Pussy can take a lot out of a guy, I guess."
Katsuki's pale pink lips slide into a lazy smile, and he drops his head with a snort. "I—yeah okay. Sure."
"What?" You giggle, gesturing at his heaving chest before crossing your hands over yours with a huff. "You're out of breath, aren't you? I did all the work."
Katsuki chuckles at your petulance, shaking his head in defeat, "Y'got me there."
He rests his head against the backboard of the booth to give you a look. You can't put your finger on it, but you feel exposed nonetheless, and you struggle not shrink from it. He licks his lips, "You drink, Princess?"
"Depends," you shrug. The ash-blond grins.
"What do you like?"
"Shirley Temples," you giggle, coiling your arms around his neck. Katsuki's hands return to your waist and it's...comfortable. "Why, you wanna buy me one?"
Katsuki makes a face that signifies yes, he does, and you follow his eyes in peering towards the dance floor again. You see your friend exactly where you saw her last, and upon feeling eyes on her, she looks around to find yours. She shoots you a wink—you roll your eyes.
"What about your friend?" Katsuki snorts, lifting an eyebrow. You snort.
"I found her, didn't I?" You wink, standing to your feet to pull him towards the bar. "Now c'mon! Doing all that work made me thirsty."
“So, what do you do for a living?”
Kayla sighed internally at the question and took a sip of her Pinot Grigio. She hated first dates with a burning passion, but unfortunately, that was the only way to find a man around here. She went through the motions of politely answering his questions, barely asking any of her own. She didn’t care. Even just fifteen minutes in, Kayla could tell he didn’t excite her, and she lamented the waste of a good outfit as she listened to him drone on about his life. Every now and then, he’d stop and ask a question about her, but she could tell he was only asking so he could talk more about himself.
How many siblings do you have?
What’s your sign?
Why did your last relationship end?
Her mind traveled to her ex-boyfriend, Erik Stevens. They had spent six blissful years together, and Kayla thought he was the one. She wanted them to get married and start a family, and she thought he did, too, but every time she brought it up, he’d find some excuse to change the subject. At thirty years old, Kayla wasn’t getting any younger, so she grew tired of his avoidance and eventually cut him loose. She needed more out of life, but the guy currently sitting across from her certainly wasn’t it.
“We wanted different things,” she answered vaguely and took another sip. It would be a long night with what’s-his-name. David? Devon? Whatever. At least he had money and took her to a nice restaurant.
Darryl took the opportunity to bore her with the details of his job, which Kayla already knew. He was a colleague of her best friend, Carina’s husband. They worked at the same law firm, and Carina decided to hook them up after tiring of hearing Kayla complain about dating apps. As much as Kayla hated Tinder, she would’ve much rather been at home on her couch swiping left on the cesspool of single men Oakland had to offer. Every few dozen swipes or so, she’d find a cutie, but his bio would be abysmal, or his conversation skills would fall flat.
Despite the fact that their relationship just couldn’t make it, Kayla still thought of Erik as the gold standard. Just thinking about his dimples and his struggle beard made her smile dreamily. His big, strong arms would wrap around her and hold her tight at night, and she’d trace her fingers over the intentionally placed keloid scars that held his darkest secrets. She missed retwisting his locs and the way he always smelled like sandalwood and warm vanilla. Kayla didn’t want to admit it, but she still loved him. No man could compare to her Erik.
“Hello? Kayla?”
“Huh? Oh, sorry. Can you repeat that last part?”
“Uh, yeah, sure. What’s got you so distracted, babygirl?”
Kayla fought the bile rising in her throat. She wasn’t his babygirl. It didn’t even sound right coming from his mouth. Maybe it was the thinness of his lips. They weren’t “white man” thin, but they couldn’t hold a candle to the juicy pussy pleasers she had grown accustomed to.
“Nothing, just thought I saw somebody I know. You were saying?”
“Just that you look beautiful tonight,” Damon attempted to flirt with her.
Kayla wanted to roll her eyes but thanked him instead and smiled politely again. Of course she looked beautiful; she had pulled out all the stops for what she had hoped would be a good night out. Kayla had squeezed her thickness into a lavender satin dress. The way the dress’s skirt cinched on the side kept it snug around her plush waist, but the high slit that traveled up her thigh was the main attraction. The strappy silver heels on her feet showed off her matching pedicure that contrasted beautifully with her glistening brown skin, and her makeup was flawless. Her outerwear for the night, a cropped fur jacket that had found its way to the coat check when they arrived, was the icing on the cake. Her outfit deserved the appreciation, just not from Deshawn.
The waiter saved her from having to focus on her date when she brought out the food they had ordered. Since Kayla knew Derek had money, she had ordered the whole lobster, and she fought her mouth from drooling too much as the waiter set it down in front of her. It laid on a bed of forbidden rice, and the side of roasted brussels sprouts and cremini mushrooms looked heavenly. The ramekin of drawn butter off to the side tempted her as it sat next to the minuscule seafood fork. She may not enjoy her company for the evening, but Kayla damn sure was going to enjoy her meal.
“Looks good,” Dominic called from the other side of the table, breaking Kayla from her trance as he cut into his wagyu beef.
“Sure does.” Kayla wasted no time before digging into her meal. Not only was it the perfect excuse to avoid conversation, but it was perfect, period.
A slight chill permeated the air as the door swung open and the crisp January air entered the small restaurant. Kayla shivered as she complained internally about being forced to sit near the door, but that shiver intensified as she heard a voice. His voice.
“Reservation for Stevens, please.”
Kayla stilled.
“Of course. Right this way, sir,” the maitre d’ responded, and Kayla heard three sets of footsteps coming her way.
--------
“Babe, let’s go!”
“Yell at me one more time, woman,” Erik warned as he came around the corner into the living room, fastening his watch.
“I swear, you take more time getting ready than I do.”
“Whatever, Mo. You ready?”
“Nigga, I been ready!”
Erik rolled his eyes and grabbed his keys. It would be a rough night, and things were already starting off on a bad foot. He and Monique had been seeing each other for the better part of a year, and he’d finally reached his limit. She was overbearing, rude, and just after him for his money, but he hated being alone, so he put up with her bullshit. His cousin, T’Challa, had tried to hook him up with a few ladies back in Wakanda when he went to visit after his breakup, but nothing stuck. Almost immediately after coming back to the states, Erik met Monique at a charity event for the Outreach Center. She had the singing voice of an angel and had been booked as the entertainment for the evening. Erik was drawn to her like a sailor to a siren, and she immediately sank her teeth into him. Past her vocal talents, Monique wasn’t really anything special. Her personality left a lot to be desired, she wasn’t the sharpest crayon in the box, and she just wasn’t her.
The moment Kayla ended their relationship a year ago, Erik’s whole world shattered. He had lived a life full of pain and loss, but Kayla had been his lifeline. She pulled him out of the dark and made him revel in the sunshine. Hell, she was the sunshine, but now he had settled for a UV lamp at best. Kayla had wanted a life that Erik was too scared to give her, but that fear became his downfall. He still missed her most nights. He was lonely, and Monique was there to keep him company, but that wasn’t enough for him anymore. Erik craved a connection that Monique just couldn’t provide. So he decided he had to break it off and figured that doing so in a public place would probably be best. She had a tendency to throw things when she got angry.
The car ride to Chez Martine was tense. Monique had been angry all day because Erik had taken back his credit card even though she wanted to buy a new dress for their date. Her lousy mood almost made him dump her back at his condo, but Erik kept a cool head and stayed focused on the plan. He ignored the way Monique complained the entire time she got ready, reluctantly putting on a dress he had seen her wear before. It didn’t matter to him; he knew what the night held.
When they walked into the restaurant, Erik’s heart dropped into his stomach. He’d recognize that shoulder blade tattoo anywhere. She had cut off all her hair and lost a few pounds, but he knew for sure that he was looking at Kayla. His Kayla. He forced himself to look straight ahead as they passed her table and prayed that the maitre d’ didn’t sit them where she could see him. Unfortunately, he had no such luck because the only open table for two was directly within her line of sight. He prayed again that Monique would sit on the far side of the table, but Bast ignored his pleas once more. He had to sit facing her, and as soon as he got comfortable in his chair, her gaze slyly trailed over to him. They locked eyes across the room, and Erik’s heart stopped. She was just as beautiful as the last time he saw her all those months ago, but who the fuck was that sitting across from her?
“What are you looking at?” Monique’s abrasive voice cut through his eardrums.
“Nothing. Just thought I saw someone I know, that’s all.”
She cut her eyes at him and turned around to look as he buried his face in the menu.
“Quit being nosy,” he complained.
“I just wanna see who’s got your attention, that’s all.” Monique turned back around with a sour look on her face. “It’s probably that fat girl with her cleavage all out.”
“Mo, just look at the fucking menu and act like you got some sense.”
“Fine.”
Monique pouted until the waiter showed up, but she plastered a fake smile on her face as he took their order. As usual, she ordered the most expensive thing on the menu, and it bothered him to no end that she was hellbent on spending all of his money. Of course, he had plenty, but she felt entitled to it. Kayla never cared about him being rich. Hell, when they got together, she didn’t even know he was a prince, but he loved to spoil her nonetheless. He loved the look on her face when he’d buy her things or take her on the expensive trips that she more than deserved. Kayla appreciated everything he did for her with all her heart, but she’d say the same thing every time.
“Thank you, baby, but you’re all I need.”
Erik smiled fondly at the memory of when he bought her a diamond tennis bracelet from Wakanda for their second anniversary. She was so excited to have diamonds that weren’t marred by exploited labor that she damn near dropped the box when she saw what was inside. It had been a rough year for them, what with him disappearing for a couple of months to seize the Wakandan throne and all. She certainly had plenty of colorful words for him when he came back. He’ll never forget the look on her face when he showed up at her door. He had brought T’Challa for backup just in case, but she looked right past the king as tears welled up in her eyes at seeing her Erik, alive and well.
Erik’s eyes started to get misty as he thought about the way she kissed him with so much emotion...then slapped him across the face for leaving. His gaze wandered back over to Kayla and he noticed the light bounce off of something on her arm. She was wearing the bracelet.
As if she felt his glare, Kayla shifted uncomfortably in her seat, so he averted his eyes back to Monique, who had caught him staring again.
“Why don’t you go say hi?” she asked sarcastically, making him roll his eyes so hard they almost got stuck.
--------
Erik Stevens. Here, of all places. He just had to be here.
Kayla noticed that he didn’t seem to be enjoying his modelesque date’s company any more than she was enjoying Darwin’s, and the pang of jealousy she felt at seeing him with another woman went away. She knew she had no right to feel any kind of way about it, especially since she was the one that broke things off. That didn’t make it any easier, though.
Dylan was too wrapped up in his steak to notice her wandering eye, but it seemed that Erik’s food was as uninteresting as the woman across from him. Kayla watched as he half-heartedly pushed it around his plate, but he certainly kept his favorite whiskey coming. She wanted to chuckle but didn’t want Daniel to think he had anything to do with her levity. They were both drowning their dissatisfactions in their alcohols of choice, and Kayla got a phantom taste of Uncle Nearest 1856 on her lips as she watched him take a sip. When he set the glass down and licked his lips, Kayla felt flush. She missed those lips…
“So, how about dessert?” Damien asked as he leaned back in his chair and rubbed his stomach. “I hear their creme brulee is amazing.”
“Uh, sure, why not?”
“You know,” he began as he leaned in and reached for her hands. She allowed him to take them, but the softness of his hands disgusted her. No callouses, no roughness, not even a firm grip. “I’ve had a great night. I’d love to see you again.”
Kayla chuckled nervously, unsure of how to proceed.
“What are you doing next-”
“Are you fucking kidding me?!”
A shrill voice pierced the air as Erik’s date bolted up from her seat. Desmond, and the whole restaurant, turned around to see what was going on, and Kayla took the opportunity to remove her hands from his.
“Keep your voice down,” Erik sneered through his teeth. “We’re in public.”
“So?! You bring me out here just to dump me? To dump this?!” she gestured at her slim figure, and he rolled his eyes.
“You ain’t even all that,” he waved her off. He was tired of playing nice, and Kayla could see the exasperation written all over his face.
“Excuse me, miss-” the waiter attempted to calm her down, but the crazed woman cut him off.
“Stay out of this!”
“I’m so sorry,” Erik mouthed to the poor man who would absolutely be getting a monstrous tip later.
“Oh, you’re sorry for him, but not for me?”
“Mo, just sit down. We can finish our meal like adults-”
“Fuck you, Erik.” She threw her dirty martini at him, soaking the front of his all-black ensemble.
Kayla could damn near see the steam coming out of his ears as his apparent ex stormed out of the restaurant. Erik locked eyes with her across the room, and when he saw the concern written all over her face, his softened.
“Whew, poor fella,” Dexter commented as he turned back around. “Where was I? Oh-”
“Excuse me, where’s your restroom?” Kayla interrupted him as their waiter walked by.
“Right down there.” She pointed at a set of stairs off to the side, and Kayla thanked her as she slid out of her seat.
“I’ll be back, Darius.”
“It’s Denzel.” He deflated.
“Fuck,” she froze. She had been sure it was Darius. “Still, I’ll be back.”
“I’ll be here,” he responded, obviously upset by her slip-up.
Kayla hurried off down the stairs and leaned against the wall as she waited for either of the single-use restrooms to open up. She took a deep breath and opened her clutch, reaching in to pull out her phone with a shaky hand and typing in his number. It was one of the few she had memorized, just in case.
“You ok?”
Her thumb hovered over the send button, but she couldn’t press it. Her heart nearly thumped out of her chest at the thought of starting a conversation with him, but something within her said that she should. It would be weird not to say anything after all that, right?
“Hey-”
“Shit!” Kayla dropped her phone when his silky baritone graced her ears.
“My fault, ma.” Erik leaned over and picked the phone off the floor, checking it for cracks. He saw she had typed a message out to him and smirked before handing it back to her.
“T-thanks.”
“No problem. And, yeah, I’m ok.”
“Huh?”
Erik pointed at her phone screen.
“Oh! Right. Um, well, that’s good to hear.” Kayla attempted to push her hair behind her ear out of habit, forgetting she had just cut it all off a week ago.
“What about you?”
“What about me?”
“You ok? You don’t seem to into ole dude out there.”
Kayla sighed and rolled her eyes, “Oh, him.”
“Damn, it’s like that?” Erik laughed, and she slapped his arm. That slight contact was enough to spark a flame in them both, and Erik’s face turned serious. “For real, though, not going well?”
“Better than you, it seems,” she quipped as she eyed his wet shirt. That was a bad idea because his first three buttons were undone, and she caught a peek of the raised scars that she missed so much. And that broad chest, and the chain with his father’s ring that he always wore. He’d let her wear it from time to time, and she always felt like it was such an honor. He trusted her enough to let her wear it. He loved her enough to-
Kayla pried her eyes away and made yet another mistake: she looked up at him. Those eyes still looked like sweet, sweet molasses, and even though his locs were braided back, she could tell he was letting them grow out. She momentarily wondered who was retwisting them nowadays, but her train of thought was cut short by the scent of sandalwood and vanilla. Kayla’s mind went blank as she inhaled slowly.
“Heh, yeah. That was...that was pretty embarrassing. Not even gonna lie.” Erik looked away shyly, unable to hold her gaze.
“I guess you’ll need to find a new date spot, huh?”
“Nah, I think I’m good on dating for a while.”
“Same,” Kayla sighed. “Dating sucks.”
“Yeah…”
One of the bathroom doors unlocked, and a middle-aged white man stepped out and passed them on the way up the stairs.
“Well, I should-”
“Yeah, go ahead.”
Kayla walked towards the bathroom, but before she could reach the door, she felt a light tug on her wrist. His touch still gave her goosebumps, and he noticed her raised skin as she turned to face him.
“I just, uh...it was nice seeing you, Kay-kay.” Erik smiled at her, and she nearly melted. She missed when he called her that, too. “You look good.”
“Thanks, E.” She smiled back. “So do you.”
He let her go, and Kayla disappeared into the bathroom. When she closed the door behind her, she took a deep breath to center herself. After all these months, Erik still took her breath away. He clouded her senses and scrambled her mind. Even as she took care of business, her brain replayed their short interaction on a loop.
Kayla locked eyes with her reflection as she dried her hands. How could she go back up there to- what’s his name? Oh, yeah, Da- Denzel. That’s it, Denzel. How could she go back up there to his mediocre company when the man she still loved had made her feel so alive with just one touch. That was the magic of Erik, his magnetism. When they were together, she couldn’t help but be drawn to him, even when she wanted to slap him across his beautiful face. Those were some of the best times, though. If she was angry at him, he knew exactly what to do to calm her down. To put her in her place. To remind her-
Kayla’s daydreaming was cut short by a knock at the door.
“Occupied!”
It came again.
“I’ll be out in a minute!”
She reached for another paper towel to dab off the sweat that had started to pool on her skin at the thought of Erik’s dominance when the door opened.
“What the f- Erik?!”
He pushed inside the bathroom and locked the door behind him.
“You need to start locking doors, Kay.”
“I- what do you want?”
“I want to talk to you,” he spoke as he moved closer to her.
“Here?!”
“Yeah, here,” he chuckled.
Kayla rolled her eyes and tried to push past him.
“Now is not the time or place-”
“When is?” he blocked her exit, and she crossed her arms in defeat, looking up at him through her lashes as she leaned against the sink. “Look, I just need to say something real quick.”
“Fine,” Kayla sighed and gestured for him to continue. She knew there was no use fighting him. She wasn’t leaving that bathroom until he was good and ready.
“Kay,” his voice softened, and she looked away only to have her face pulled back in his direction. “Kay-kay, look at me.”
She made the mistake of doing just that, getting lost in his eyes again.
“I miss you,” Erik murmured.
“Erik-”
“Look, I know, ok? I know. And I’m sorry, Kay. I really am- no, look at me. I’m sorry I wasn’t enough for you...but I miss you, girl.”
Kayla’s eyes welled up with tears that she tried her hardest to blink away, but one had the nerve to fall. Erik wiped it away, and the next one, and the next one. A sob wracked Kayla’s body, and he wrapped his arms around her body.
“Don’t cry, babygirl. I know you worked hard on your makeup.”
Kayla laughed through her tears, but the emotions washed back over her, and she buried her face into his chest. It was already soaked with gin, so what harm would a few tears do?
He held her and rocked her softly from side to side as she cried, and after a couple of minutes, she found the will to look up at him again. His cheeks were wet, so she reached up and swiped her thumbs over them as she held his face in her small hands. He nuzzled into them and kissed her wrists.
“I miss you, too, E,” she croaked.
“I know, babygirl.”
He leaned in to kiss her forehead, and she closed her eyes as his soft lips caressed her skin. They stayed intertwined for who knows how long until Erik felt Kayla begin to pull back. He looked down at her, and the two of them locked eyes. Before they knew it, their lips had met in the middle in a passionate embrace. They got lost in each other for a moment until common sense returned to Kayla, and she pushed him off.
“We can’t-”
“Why not?”
“Because…”
“Because what, Kay?” Erik’s voice rumbled as he closed what little gap was between their bodies. He left soft kisses on her temples before working down to her cheeks, then her jawline, and eventually the column of her neck. She let out a soft whimper when his teeth grazed the crook of her neck but pushed him back again before he could continue any further.
“Erik, I...I still love you, and-”
He attacked her lips with his, hands feverishly gripping her waist as he pushed her further into the sink. She had nowhere to go, and she was ok with that.
“I...love you...too...babygirl,” he whispered between kisses.
Kayla’s mind went blank as he lifted her up on the counter and pressed himself between her legs. She could feel him, all of him, and damn did she miss that monster between his legs.
“Erik,” she moaned as he nipped at her earlobe. He still knew how to play her body like a violin.
“Mmm, say it again.”
“Erik!” she squeaked as she felt his strong hands grip her thighs.
“Just like that,” he groaned, and she flooded her already wet panties.
“Baby-”
He connected his forehead to hers and stared deep into her eyes. “You miss me?”
“Mhm,” Kayla nodded with her lip between her teeth.
“I miss you, too, baby. I think about you all the time. Every day,” he pecked her lips, “every night. I miss everything about you, Kay-kay. Your off-key singing, your horrible cooking-”
“Shut up,” Kayla giggled as his hands traveled up her dress.
“Your body…fuck I miss this body. I miss how you smell, how you taste...how that tight little pussy feels wrapped around my dick.”
Kayla widened her legs for him as his fingers found their way to the seat of her panties, stroking up and down her slit. Erik kissed his way back down her face and over to her ear, his warm breath sending chills down her spine.
“Do you think about me when you touch yourself? Because I do. You’re all I see when I stroke my dick...wishing it was your hand...your lips...this fucking pussy.”
Erik pushed her panties to the side, and his nimble fingers circled her clit. Kayla let out a small moan that was music to his ears, making fingers move faster and her breath grow shallower with each rotation.
“Answer me.”
“Mhm.”
“Come on, babygirl, you can do better than that. You think about me when you play in your pussy? This pussy right here?” he asked as he slapped her vulva, her wetness sticking to his hand.
“Y-yes, baby-”
“Uh-uh, you know who I am. Say it,” Erik commanded as he snuck three fingers inside her wetness, making her moan loudly in his ear. “Shhh, you gotta be quiet, babygirl. You don’t want people out there knowing how much of a slut you are, right?”
Kayla shook her head no.
“That’s what I thought. Now, I asked you a question, Kayla,” he reminded her. His gruff voice made her weak, and the fingers that were steadily speeding up inside her certainly didn’t help. “Answer me. Who am I, babygirl?”
Kayla tried to hold out as much as she could. She didn’t want to say it, too proud to give in, but the way he was currently stretching out her pussy and curling his fingers inside her made her cling to his shoulders. The bastard knew what he was doing, and she didn’t want to let him win. But then, he played dirty and bit down on her neck. She cried out, and when he pulled back to look at her, the ferocity in his eyes drove her up the wall.
“I said, who the fuck am I, Kayla?” Erik growled. His hand sped up, making her weak with every thrust. She couldn’t hold it anymore and came undone around him, her mouth betraying her as his name fell from her lips.
“Daddy!” she gasped as her pussy spasmed, and he chuckled darkly.
“Damn right I am,” he kissed her lips, “now gimme that pussy. Daddy missed his pussy.”
Kayla heard a rip and felt the cool air between her legs as he tore through her panties to get to her treasure trove. She reached down between them and grabbed his clothed erection in her hand, making him groan as he bit down on his luscious bottom lip. She undid his belt buckle and slowly unzipped his pants before reaching in and pulling out his throbbing dick.
The longing in her eyes told him everything he needed to know, so he pushed her legs back and tapped his head on her clit.
“You want daddy’s dick in you?”
“Mhm,” she whimpered.
“Good.”
He pushed in and groaned at the feeling of her pussy walls gripping him as he sheathed himself inside her.
“Fuck, you feel like home.”
Kayla moaned into his neck in response and wound her hips against him, meeting him thrust for thrust as he stroked into her slow and deep. She couldn’t form words. He felt so damn good inside her that Kayla’s brain had short-circuited. Erik’s dick hit spots that she could never find herself no matter how hard she tried. Even in her dreams, he drove her body wild. She had spent the last year trying to find somebody, anybody who could make her feel that way, but nobody could compare to Erik Stevens.
Erik and Kayla panted heavily into each others’ mouths as he made love to her body, and as soon as Kayla started to tense up, his thrusts grew harder.
“I-I-”
“I know, babygirl. Daddy feels it,” he groaned as he nipped at her bottom lip. “Cum on my dick like a good girl.”
His words sent Kayla into overdrive, and her body shook as she spilled over him. Her spasming walls hugged him tight, and she wrapped her legs around his waist, begging him with her eyes.
“You feel amazing,” she moaned.
“Mhm. I know them other niggas wasn’t hitting it like this. I just know it. Look at you, cumming all over daddy’s dick. Look at it!” He grabbed her chin and made her look down at her throbbing pussy as his dick slid in and out of her.
“We look so good, daddy!”
Erik slammed into her, and she bit into his shoulder to keep from screaming. He gave her his all over and over, rocking the countertop in the process.
“We’ll look even better if you let me cum in this pussy. Mix my cum with yours-”
“Yes!”
“Yes?” He chuckled. “You want it that bad, huh? Nasty ass, in here getting fucked while that bum ass nigga’s waiting for you upstairs.”
“Mmm, I want it.”
“Want what, babygirl?” Erik teased as he brought his thumb to her clit, strumming it slowly as he thrust into her.
“You. I want you to cum deep in me.”
“Shit,” Erik groaned. “You want it deep in there?”
“Mhm. Put it where it belongs, daddy.” Kayla licked up the side of his neck, making his knees buckle. “Cum in your pussy.”
Erik lost all sense of control and pounded into her tight pussy, somehow getting even deeper in preparation for his release. Kayla held on tight as she felt him begin to spasm inside her, and she released around him again as his deep moans tickled her ear. Erik thrust extra deep and held his dick in place as he emptied his balls into her warmth, whimpering lightly as she rubbed his back to soothe him and bring him back down.
“I missed you, babygirl.”
“I missed you, too, daddy.”
They stayed like that, wrapped up in each other until their breathing slowed. Erik was the first to move, slowly pulling himself out of Kayla as she whined at the loss of contact. He kissed all over her face before planting a slow, sweet kiss on her lips.
“I can’t let you go again, Kay-kay,” his voice cracked as tears threatened to fall from his eyes again.
Kayla pulled him back in and kissed him so deeply that she nearly lost herself in him again, but he pulled away and looked her in her eyes.
“I’m serious, girl. I’ll do anything. I’ll marry you, give you as many big-headed babies as you want. Just, please, Kay-” she cut him off with another kiss to shut him up.
“We should go back to my place and talk,” she whispered, and Erik’s face lit up. Something about the way she said it, the way she kissed him, the way her body still responded to his...it gave him hope. Kayla smiled at him and pecked his lips once more before hopping off of the sink. He had to catch her because her legs were wobbly, and she stumbled a little in her heels.
“You aight?” he laughed.
“No, nigga,” she slapped his chest, and the two of them got caught in a laughing fit. They had really just fucked in the bathroom at Chez Martine. Kayla was on cloud nine until a thought occurred to her, and her face fell flat. “Oh, shit.”
“What?” Erik’s face turned serious, and his eyes scanned over her body, looking for whatever the problem was.
Kayla started giggling again, and he looked confused.
“What is it?” he asked, barely able to keep a straight face. Her laugh was always so infectious…
“Demetrius.”
“Who?!”
“My date.”
“Girl, don’t worry about him. He probably thinks you dipped out anyway.”
Kayla shrugged and fixed her dress as Erik stuffed his shirt back in his pants. They checked their reflections in the mirror, and Kayla was pleasantly surprised that her makeup was still intact thanks to that setting spray she had splurged on the other day.
“Ready?” Erik asked as he admired her beauty. Kayla nodded, and he unlocked the door, opening it to find Duncan leaning against the wall with a sour look on his face. Kayla’s eyes blew wide as she tried to figure out what to say to her date for the evening.
“Heyyy, um…”
“Denzel,” he seethed.
“Yeah, sorry. So, um, we’re-”
“Sorry, bruh,” Erik clapped him on the shoulder, “but we heading out. Bathroom’s all yours, though.”
Erik pulled Kayla along, and she sent Deion an apologetic glance before following Erik up the stairs. It seemed the whole restaurant knew what had occurred, but neither one of them cared. They were just happy to be around each other again. It had been entirely too long.
You Can Hear It In The Silence
Summary: Sneaking around can be fun, but sometimes the silence is just too quiet, or falling in love with your best friend.
Pairing: Spencer x Fem Reader (SMUT) MINORS DNI
Author’s Note: Minors please DNI, I have a lot of other fluff pieces that are totally acceptable for you guys to read. I hope that this isn’t too schmaltzy because that just gives me agita. This is based off You are In Love by Taylor Swift and maybe a little bit of Dress
You Can Hear It In The Silence
It’s a blurry line, going from best friends to dating. There’s nothing like playing that dangerous game of stolen glances and surreptitious touches in a dark room. Eyes ranking over figures decked out in soft cardigans and tweed blazers or black dress pants and silk blouses, desperately wanting to see more, touch more, taste more. The senses could only sated for so long before the desire for more bubbles to the surface.
Across the table, Spencer watches as Y/N sips the red wine JJ brought over. It’s hard to not watch her; to not completely hone in on the way her eyes are light with laughter, or the way her hair cascades down her shoulder, blending into the dark green color of her dress. Spencer kills himself trying to not look at her because he knows if he does, he’s done. Or rather, he knows that if he lets himself love her openly, he’ll only end up hurting themselves. So, he sits there, in Derek’s backyard trying to pretend that he’s not staring at Y/N. The only thought that comforts him is holding on to the idea that Y/N is doing the same thing. He supposes that’s what happens to relationships that blossom from the shadows of secrecy. In their attempts to not hurt others, they end up almost destroying themselves.
He decides to pretend to find Garica’s cuckoo clock fascinating. He stares at the wacky colored birds and swinging arms entirely too long. In the corner of his eye Spencer watches the next couple of moments unfold. JJ and Garcia drunkenly bounce over to Y/N; they put their arms around her in a fit of giggles and smiles. Garcia’s arm extends around JJ’s neck and she lets out a loud announcement for a “Selfie” or rather what Spencer can only assume is a photograph of the three of them. The phone, even though Spencer does have some disdain for the invention, sure does serve its purpose. In all the light rays bouncing around and the blinding flash, pure magic happens. Spencer is aware that it makes him sound like a total sap, but he’s jealous of the phone. He’s jealous that his eidetic memory may only allow him to remember the Y/N’s notes in the margins of her case file or the annual “Happy Birthday, Genius” on a Hallmark card once a year. What he would give to just be able to capture her in the light of company, not hanging on to fleeting memories in the shadows.
Lost in his thoughts, Spencer does not notice an unusually drunk Unit Chief wandering over to the empty chair next to him. All of his awkwardness, Spencer is not sure if he should acknowledge his drunken boss or stop staring at his secret girlfriend. It’s at time like these that Spencer resorts to reciting Crime and Punishment or 100 Years of Solitude either seem ironically appropriate.
“Reid,” Hotch says, leans in close, far too close for the usual uptight and business-like Aaron Hotchner that Spencer has grown to know.
“Hotch?” Spencer answers, his voice laced with trepidation and anxiety.
“You gotta stop staring at Y/L/N. You’re gonna rat on yourselves if you don’t stop staring at her like that,” Hotch tells him, his breath might smell like whiskey, but his eyes tell Spencer that he’s a lot more sober than he seems.
“Like what?” Spencer counters, choosing to play dumb at best as he could, or at least just slightly clueless.
“That doesn’t work on me, Reid. You should stop looking at her like you love her,”
Spencer looks at his boss, at Y/N, and back at his drink. Was he seriously that transparent?
“I don’t know what you’re talking about, Hotch. Y/N and I are-”
“Spence! Spencer!,” Y/N shouts as she practically runs over to where Spencer sits with Hotch, watching the rest of the team.
It’s like Hotch isn’t even there anymore, it’s like no one is even there. God, it might sound sappy, but Spencer doesn’t care anymore. It’s going to kill him playing it like he doesn’t care about Y/N, especially considering he’s doing a mediocre job.
“I have a really bad headache, Spence. And I need you to take me home,” Y/N asks him, and Spencer notices an eager glint in her eyes that tells him all he needs to know.
“Keep this between us please, Hotch? Just until we figure it out,” Spencer almost pleads to Hotch who answers with a dismissive wave. He leaves them there to figure out their plans to sneak out of Garcia’s undetected.
“Hotch knows? Of course you know,” Y/N says with a roll of her eyes and a quick wink at Spencer, whose growing embarrassment from the situation is only second to his excitement at the night to come.
“Spence, go say goodbye for me? I’m going to head to your car. You really gotta sell that I’m feeling sick,” Y/N tells him, standing a little too close and dipping her hand a little too low on Spencer’s waist for this to be a friendly gesture to any of their friends that might pass by. She takes a peak around the room and reaches her hand into Spencer’s pocket. He gives her a startled glance, but they both know that the thrill of sneaking around like this is kind of worth it.
As Y/N ducks out of the room, Spencer makes his way to where Emily, JJ, Garcia, and Derek sit at the kitchen table taking shots of a clear liquid Spencer thinks is tequila. Great, Spencer thinks. Him and his secret girlfriend, who as far as the team knows is his best friend, have to sneak out of Garica’s place in front of a pile of loud drunks. Spencer feels his phone buzz, altering him that there is a very impatient Y/N waiting in the car for him
“Uh, Garcia, Y/N’s got a really bad headache. I think it’s an onset of one of her migraines that she gets from red wine,” Spencer lies through his teeth, completely terrified from the way Emily glares at him. It’s like she can see right through him.
“So you’re taking her home?” Derek asks, speeding along the process and for that Spencer considers himself forever grateful.
“Yeah, you know we are neighbors after all,” Spencer reasons.
The awkward silence in the kitchen is only interrupted by JJ’s quiet humming to the song that plays in the background. Derek and Emily share a knowing glance as Penelope starts pouring the next round of shots.
“I’ll see you guys on Monday, Y/N is waiting for me in the car,” Spencer says without a further glance to his very perceptive colleagues.
“You go take care of Y/N, Pretty Boy!” Derek yells as Spencer walks out of the apartment, slamming the door behind him, perhaps a little too eagerly.
When Spencer gets to his car, he stops himself before opening the door. In the light from the lamppost, Spencer can see his reflection in the back window of his car. He runs a hand through his hair and attempts to fix the crookedness of his tie. Smiling to himself, Spencer gets into the driver’s seat of his car and is greeted by Y/N, who even in the dark makes him feel alive.
“Hey,” he offers nervously. Even though they’ve been together loads of times, there is a tingle of intimidation that settles in his heart everytime she looks at him.
Never the one to shy down from a confrontation, Y/N leans in and places her hand gracefully on Spencer’s neck and her face looms close to his ear. Her voice is low and seductive and Spencer swears he can feel himself melt at the feeling of her being this close and him able to touch her. He brings his hands up to rest, one on her upper thigh, placed bravely under the slip of her silk dress, and the other draws circles around her elbow..
“Spencer, I need you to drive us home,” Y/N tells him a voice that Spencer knows he could never deny.
He doesn’t answer her, because the silence speaks for itself. They can hear all they need to know in the silence. The quiet way that their bodies seem to just gravitate to each other. Spencer’s hand cups Y/N’s thigh and her fingers graze the back of Spencer’s neck. It’s those quiet touches that tell the other what they are too afraid to say aloud.
The quietness settles between them even as they pull into the parking spot. It’s like they’re dance partners, completely a routine of sneaking in the shadows effortlessly. Or like they’re actors in a play, pretending that they’re not dying to play the role in reality. It’s a dangerous game that they play. But all of that is forgotten, pushed to the side as Spencer opens the door and the curtain rises.
Y/N initiates the kiss, pushing Spencer down on the couch. She straddles his waist, her silky green dress spills over her thighs and Spencer is in awe of how the color contrasts against her bare skin. He’s not an artist, but looking at her he’s sure he has laid his eyes on the most beautiful being he’s ever seen. He might not believe in magic, it’s all just science and mind tricks, but he’s nothing but transfixed at the women sitting in his lap.
“Spencer, please get these clothes off,” Y/N commands in a voice that gives away how badly she wants him.
“Wait your turn, Y/N” Spencer says in a teasing tone that brings out Y/N’s sly smile.
“Then do something!” Y/N shouts, getting even more impatient than she was in the car.
“You’re so beautiful like this, I-I mean you’re always so beautiful, but you’re just so-” Spencer stammers over his words, and the only thing he’s sure of is that his insecurity is the biggest turn off. But Y/N continues to surprise him each and everyday, and tonight is no less.
“Slow down, baby. It’s just me. There’s no need to go so fast right now. We have all night,” Y/N soothes, craning down her neck to plant wet kisses down Spencer’s neck. She’s probably leaving marks, Spencer thinks, but his desire to be seen as her’s outweighs the teasing from Morgan on Monday.
The fact that it’s Y/N perched in his lap, kissing down his neck and wiggling around in a way that she can feel everything does nothing to fend off the adrenaline that Spencer’s high off of.
“I need to see your face,” Spencer says holding her by the shoulders. He reaches around her as she leans back to unzip her dress. She stands so it falls to the ground in a pool of dark green fabric. Her body is out in the open to him and Spencer’s flushed face must be on fire by now.
“I need to see your face, Spencer,” Y/N says in a way that Spencer knows that he can’t disobey.
There’s that silence again. That loud silence, filled with lines of unsaid love poems and quiet love songs. The silence that says the perfect things that Y/N deserves to hear, but Spencer is too scared to say. Three months too soon to say, I love you, Spencer tells himself. His mind spins so fast that he feels guilty for neglecting the naked woman standing before him.
“If you’re gonna fuck me Spence, we’re gonna do it in a bed. I love you and all but this couch is not going to handle me when I get a hold of you,” Y/N says as she runs off into his bedroom, leaving Spencer dumbfounded in her wake.
Spencer swallows down his fears and anxieties. He sheds his clothes off during his walk to the bedroom. Y/N lies down on his bed and Spencer won’t let the silence speak for him this time.
“How are you this perfect, Y/N?” Spencer asks as he crawls in between Y/N’s legs. He rests his hands on her upper thighs and looks at her like expects her to answer his question. Spencer dips his fingers down to the place Y/N wants him the most. In the low light from Spencer’s lamp he can see how his fingers glisten.
“You took too long at Penny’s Spence, I had to start without you,” Y/N explains, a slight flush to her cheeks reminds Spencer that she too is just as affected by him as he is by her.
“You touched yourself in my car?” Spencer asks pressing a firm kiss on each side of Y/N hip bones. He dances his long fingers up to her stomach, where her own hands sit as if she’s shielding this part from him.
“Yeah,” Y/N tells him, slightly breathless from the small kisses Spencer places on her stomach and back down to the softest part of her inner thighs. He tells himself that he’s got to slow himself down before he loses it at the site Y/N wriggling and moaning at his smallest touches.
“I left you a present in your glove compartment, Spence,”
“Huh, who knew I had such a naughty girl,” Spencer says with an unfamiliar bravery in his voice. Unsurprisingly, Y/N picks up on this and decides to see how far she can take it.
“I have needs, Spencer. Do you think you can take care of them?”
Spencer doesn’t respond, but ducks his head down to drag his tongue across her clit, feeling how wet she is. He refuses to break eye contact and realizes how obsessed he would get if she’d let him do this for the rest of his life. Spencer’s eyes carefully watch how Y/N’s facial expressions morph in intense pleasure. It’s like a science experiment. When he plunges his tongue into her, she closes her eyes. But when he blows softly on her inner thighs then leaves hot, wet kisses her fingers come up to latch onto his scalp. He peers at her and waits for the way she moans when he slips one, then two fingers in her. He curls them up in such a way that he knows drives her crazy.
“Oh my God, Spencer! Please,” Y/N cries, twisting in the sheets. He continues at the pace he’s set, chasing the blissful feeling of her coming undone because of him. The moments leading up to her release, Y/N tears her hand away from Spencer’s head and connects her palm into his. Holding her hand, Spencer whispers praises and presses small kisses into her pussy.
“Come here and kiss me now, baby. I need you,” Y/N whispers, grasping onto whatever parts of Spencer she could touch. Her fingers move to cup his face and she holds him like he’s made of glass. In between the soft sheets and even softer touches, Spencer knows what it’s like to feel precious. Y/N cranes her head forward to attack Spencer’s neck with kisses. She relishes in the soft and supple skin of his neck. Once again, Spencer finds himself not caring that she’s going to leave marks.
“How are you this perfect, Spencer?” Y/N asks Spencer, who for the first time in his life does not have an answer for a question.
He closes his and lets himself float around in the fuzzy feeling in his brain. All he can focus on is Y/N’s mouth. The way her praises make him believe in forever and the way her kisses litter his cheeks, eyes, chest.
“You’re the perfect one, Y/N. I don’t even compare,” Spencer says as he watches Y/N twist underneath him and somehow maneuver herself so he lies beneath her.
“None of that, Spencer” She tells him sharply. Y/N drags her nails down Spencer’s chest, not leaving scratches, just light discoloration. Her head and mouth is dangerously close to where his hardened cock lays leaking between his legs.
She grasps around the base and just gingerly touches him that Spencer is sure he’s going to be blinded from the pleasure. Suddenly he feels almost self conscious. His anxiety is not unknown to Y/N, who lays a comforting hand in his, mirroring her earlier motion.
“You don’t have to Y/N. I mean if you don’t want to. I don’t want you to think just because I’m your boyfriend and I did it for you-” Spencer rushes out, terrified of what Y/N’s reaction will be.
“Look at me, Spencer. Do you want me to suck your cock, baby? Look at me,” Y/N says in a voice that Spencer doesn’t recognize and doesn’t dare ignore.
“Yes,” he breathes out, his voice shakes as he feels Y/N’s mouth take in his tip. He hisses at the sensation. The smallest movements set him on fire. Spencer’s large hands come up to hover over Y/N’s shoulder blades.
“Don’t be quiet, baby. I want to hear you,” Y/N says before she deepens her hold of. She releases him to glide her younger down the side, sending shockwaves of pure pleasure in Spencer’s entire being.
“You like that, Spencer. You like my mouth on your cock, baby?” Y/N eggs him on.
Even though he’s lost the ability to speak, Spencer’s moans bounce around the room. He knows he’s a whimpering mess below Y/N, but he’s chasing the feeling of release shamelessly.
“Y/N, Y/N. Baby, you gotta stop. Or I’m gonna cum right now,” Spencer chants, tightening his grip on Y/N’s hand. He forces himself to calm down to focus on Y/N, but it’s a little difficult when all Y/N is focusing on him.
Spencer sat up, his back against the headboard, and he pulled Y/N forward so she rested in his lap. She grins up at him, and Spencer can feel his heart squeeze at the look. She’s going to be the death of him, but at least he’ll die a happy man.
Much to Y/N’s pleasure, Spencer lets out a lewd moan as she grinds down, pressing her wet pussy to his throbbing cock. He feels a little ridiculous getting so worked up and she’s not even inside him yet.
“Please, Y/N. I need you, I’m not going to last long,” Spencer utters. He says her name like a prayer, it’s a hymn to her ears.
“I got you, Spence,” she tells him, sheathing his length into her.
Spencer pulls Y/N in closer so that their chests are flush together. Among the chorus of moans and mumbles of praise, Spencer reaches down to hold Y/N’s hand. He’s not a believer in soulmates. He was sure that he’d never find his match. Never find the one person who’d share his dreams and become his dream. But sitting there, Spencer cannot deny that he’s tethered to Y/N. Their hands link together and mouths refuse to let go, searching for any exposed skin.
“Spencer,” Y/N groans, leaning her forehead into his. She looks into his eyes and Spencer dares to wonder if her eyes are glassy because of him. It’s magic how someone like her can make a believer, a dreamer out of a man afraid of living.
Spencer closes his eyes in pure ecstasy. Y/N sucks along the tender skin of his chest, causing him to flush at her ministrations. He can feel her tighten inside him, so he snakes his fingers down to stroke her clit, exciting moans and more fervent kisses along his chest and up to his ear.
“Just like that, Spence. You’re so perfect my sweet boy,”
“Y/N, cum on me, cum on me baby,” Spencer cries, finally able to let go as he feels himself come undone underneath Y/N.
Spencer’s whimpers and constant moans set Y/N over the edge. She mewled into Spencer’s shoulder, kissing and nipping the sensitive skin. As her orgasm rakes over her body, Y/N tugs on Spencer’s hair, suddenly quite happy he’s keeping it almost shoulder length.
Both of them feel their bodies come back to life, their breathing steadies and their hearts seem to beat a little bit slower. Gone were the array of moans. Gone was the burning desire to chase their release. Gone was the sound of praise. All that stands between Spencer and Y/N is the silence. The silence that says quite enough for them.
The silence that’s braver than Spencer.
He’s quiet as Y/N flops to his side, entirely spent and tired from the company of friends and strenuous activities that just transpired.
“I know what you’re thinking, Spence” She offers, turning to her side to look at him. He gives her a straight faced smile, unsure of how to approach the subject. He knows that she knows what he’s thinking about, sometimes even before he’s thinking about it.
“I meant it, Spencer. I really do love you,” Y/N professes, finally breaking the silence. Spencer swallows as his eyes scan the girl before him.
“You’re my best friend, Y/N,” Spencer says quietly, and suddenly realizes that it’s probably not what a girl who just confessed her love for you wants to hear. But he knows that Y/N understands-- she understands him.
“What I mean is, I want midnight coffee nights with you. I want small talk and deep conversations and everything in between,” Spencer says quickly. “I want you in secret Y/N, but I want you in public too,”
Spencer watches his confession settle into Y/N’s face. He’s scared for the rejection, for the daylight to break on his dream.
“I’ve waited for you to say that for so long, Spence,” She says, leaning in to close the gap between their naked bodies. Spencer pulls her in to rest his chin on top of Y/N’s head. It’s comforting being there, feeling her heartbeat in the tune of his own. He feels safe, wrapped up around in Y/N.
They’re sweaty and smell like sex, but Spencer doesn’t care. His hair is messy and he’s exhausted, but Spencer doesn’t care. His neck and chest are littered with lovebites and marks, but Spencer doesn’t care. After months of running around in the shadows, months of letting the unsaid say what he desperately wants to say, months of being patient but dying with anticipation, Spencer doesn’t care. Spencer doesn’t care because on Monday morning, Y/N won’t drop his hand when they walk into the bullpen.
House Warming - Bucky Barnes
Summary: Hopping through some standout moments in making Bucky's apartment a place worth coming home to. (This definitely could have been a headcanon but I refuse to do headcanons at this time.)
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x reader
Word count: 2.6 k
Warnings: fluff with a lil angst
A/N: I have finished all the assignments left for my degree and decided to sit down and write today. This is probably trash but idc because it has been written and therefore I may as well release it. It's been a while since I've written and years since I've truly tried dipping my foot into a different fandom, but I figured I'd give it ago. Please don't forget to leave comments, I love interacting with y'all. Thank you @bwbatta for the dividers! xoxox
It all started with a damn candle. A ‘sandalwood & vanilla orchid’ candle tucked away in a reused cyan jar.
“I found it at the art market down the street last weekend,” you said as you placed it in the corner of the living room window. “You know we have to support local business.”
“And I shouldn’t assume this is your way of telling me my place smells, right?” Bucky quipped from the kitchen island, a cup of coffee in his hand and a lazy smile on his face. He’d just gotten back from a 12-day mission with Sam, and the last thing he had on his to-do list was to buy candles.
The smile grew firmer as you put yourself into his arms. “Complete opposite, actually. I bought it cause I thought it smelled just like you.” You hid your face within his chest, and he thanked the stars that you couldn’t see the warmth rising in his cheeks. His barren apartment felt a little bigger with a candle in the windowsill.
From there it became decorative pillows… and a couch to hold them. The small living room had quickly become a mess by the time you both had brought it up to his fourth-floor apartment, furniture wrap and packing peanuts strewn everywhere.
“I still don’t know why you needed to buy a sofa this big,” Bucky grumbled as he leaned over the back of the beige three-seater, looking down at your splayed out across its cushions.
“Don’t get me wrong, babe. I love the transient bachelor look you’ve got going on here, but you need more furniture than an armchair,” you mumbled between heavy breaths as you tried to regain control from maneuvering the couch into the apartment.
“And the pillows?” A laugh fell from your lips as you watched him look at the indigo cushions with a remarkable amount of disdain. Who buys pillows made just to look nice on a couch?
“They add character.”
“I didn’t think character was an area we were lacking in. Transient bachelor, remember?” He walked around the couch and shifted you over so he could lay beside you. You instinctively curled into him as you both closed your eyes. For a second the place felt like home. “I also don't know how you plan for us both to fit on this couch every day along with the pillows.”
“Don’t worry about it,” You looked up from his chest with a mischievous glint that made his heart skip. “It’s a pullout bed too. I’m sure it’ll be firm enough even for you.”
The home improvements didn’t stop there, but Bucky refused to admit how much he enjoyed them.
He liked having a place and person to come home to. After you had bought neutral bedding for his room, you’d spent an evening putting together ‘his and hers’ trestle bookcases for either side of the bed. He’d try to keep up his crabbish demeanor as you argued that ‘you needed a place to set your books for when you slept over,’ and a side table could no longer contain the small collection you had spilling over. Even still, he couldn’t find it in himself to banter much about the minor changes you made to make the place feel lived in.
And God, did he love living with you around. Between missions, his continued therapy, and trying to find his place in a world that had tripled in opportunity since his youth, he knew that he never had to question who he was and where he fit in when he walked through that door. You still occasionally slept at your own apartment when he was away, but he could always count on you being asleep in his bed by the time he came home.
One toothbrush in a glass became two, and from there, hand creams, face masks, and cotton pads cluttered the bathroom counter, packed away in their clear containers. You had made sure to keep lavender bath salts on hand for the late-night baths you took together when he woke up in a panic, unable to close his eyes again for fear of falling back into a nightmare.
It took time and working through plenty of hesitation before Bucky could progress from sleeping on the pull-out sofa to the bed, but ever since, you found your nights attended by restlessness whenever you weren’t wrapped in his arms.
Once your lease was up and you had a lengthy conversation about your inability to rest without him, you quickly filled the apartment with brown boxes. Bucky had been no less than astounded by how much you fit into them. From then on, no nook or cranny was without a vase or shelf.
“How many mugs does one house need,” Bucky asked skeptically while he continued to carefully pull them from their paper wrappings.
“Oh, come on! They’re fun!” You exclaimed, wrapping an arm around his waist as you took the Charlie Brown mug from his metal palm. “Plus, we go through enough coffee around here to justify some extra mugs.”
After you put the mug into the lowest shelf of the cabinet, you busied yourself with filing away the spices one cabinet over. No matter how much he tried, Bucky couldn’t pull his eyes away from you, lost in your own world as you chipped away at unpacking your belongings, making yours his, and vice versa. The domesticity in the little things you did was something he could get used to, and he wanted to return the feeling of normalcy as much as he could. He was far from the average boyfriend, but you remind him that could be a good thing. You never wanted to be average, but in these small moments, as you both did what normal couples do, he felt that he could create a new normal with you.
“So your Christmas gift came in already, and it’s too big to hide.” Your awkward tone carried over the phone as he exited a station ten minutes away from the apartment. Even though his neck ached and the cold nipped at the top of his ears, he couldn’t stop himself from releasing a breathy laugh.
“I thought you said you were good at this gift-giving thing, doll,” he teased you as he maneuvered his way to your shared apartment.
“Oh, don’t you fret, baby. I am the best gift-giver in all of New York City. I just slightly miscalculated how big this thing was and have realized it won’t fit into our closet.”
He tsked with a smirk on his face. “If you say so.”
“Hey, you gave me my Christmas gift a week ago.”
“Yeah, that’s because I didn’t know if I’d be back before Christmas.”
“Well, you will be, and I’m glad you are,” your voice softened lovingly as he pulled out his keys to the front of the building.
Bucky had gotten used to your love, but he’d vow to never take it for granted. All the pain he’d endured had somehow led him to you, the person who didn’t see his broken pieces as a burden or a project but as a potential to be whatever he desired.
When he hung up the call and unlocked the apartment, his brows furrowed into one; the apartment was pitch black. It was only when he heard your soft footstep walking towards the entrance that his face relaxed.
Before he could even kiss you, you had your palms firmly placed over his eyes. “No peeking; your gift is in the living room.”
The uncertainty in what you could have got him made his stomach clench. “Is it an animal?”
You slowly dragged him through the front hallway, making sure to avoid crashing into the entryway storage table. “I’m sorry to say it’s not alive.”
“Is it a nice welcome-home spread with candles, fruit, and the pullout bed all set up?”
He could feel your eyes roll to completion. “Easy there, sergeant. That’s for later.” You pulled him down to sit on the couch, and he kept his eyes closed as you pulled your palms away, moving to turn on a lamp. “Okay, Buck. open up.”
When he opened his eyes, it took him a moment to understand what he was seeing nestled against the wall; when he did recognize it, he could only form two words “Holy shit.”
“Holy shit indeed.”
He was quick to stand up and cross the room, eager to get a good look at the walnut centerpiece. “Does it work?”
You scoffed as you moved to kiss his cheek. “What kind of girlfriend would get her ancient boyfriend a broken phonograph console?”
He didn’t even attempt to answer as he bent down to wrap his arms around you, his lips eager to find yours. “A fucking Magnavox radio and phonograph,” he mumbled against your lips.
“A working Magnavox radio and phonograph, you mean.” When you pulled away and saw that his face held a glow reserved only for special occasions, you knew you had made the right choice. “I’ve got some records wrapped up if you want to open those now too.”
You yelped in surprise as he picked you up and made his way towards your bedroom. “I’ve got something else I’d like to unwrap first.”
Bucky Barnes had grown up in a period when the average family could seldom afford nice things or much of anything at all. The Great Depression has resulted in the slogan ‘Make it do or Do without,” being ingrained into what memories he still had, and 'doing without' had become commonplace for the Barnes household.
That’s why every gadget and gizmo you added to your household left him in awe. For much of his life, including the decades he spent as a weapon for Hydra, he hadn’t been allowed to call anything his own; he was still getting used to living so plentifully, both in love and in life. But now, he could barely move and he thought it had all been taken away from him.
The attack was supposed to have been contained, at least three miles away from the apartment. Anything less, and he would have made you visit your family upstate instead of just suggesting it. By the time Sam had told him that there’d been some confirmed damage within a block of the apartment, Bucky was already on his way home. He couldn’t think of anything but the worse: you trapped in a collapsing apartment building or pulling up to find no building there at all.
He felt his lungs fill with air again as he pulled up to your building, completely intact regardless of the severe damage less than a five-minute walk away. It felt like both seconds and hours between when he parked his outside and unlocked the front door.
“He doesn’t have his phone on him, mom. How am I supposed to…” you trailed off from your call as he walked into the living room, turning your head away from the Breaking News report you’d been glued to for the last hour. “Wait, I’ll call you back. Yeah, I’m fine. I’ll call you back.” Your eyes never left his as he walked over to you, hanging up the phone with worry in your eyes. “Buck, are you oka-”
You couldn’t even finish your sentence before he pulled you off of the couch and into his arms. His grip was less reserved than he usually kept, but he made sure not to hurt you, eager to keep you in his arms, where he knew you were safe. A single tear fell from the corner of his eyes as he realized the real possibility that he could have lost you if you lived even 5 minutes closer to the attack. You stayed like that for a while, gathered tightly in his arms as you both settled onto the floor You didn’t push him to verbalize his fear; you already understood it. And it took this occurrence for him to realize he never wanted to experience this feeling again.
Bucky was quiet for the rest of the evening, and while it worried you, his fear had been evident enough not to require questioning. The city-wide cleanup had lasted all hours of the night; for the first time in all the years you had lived in the city, the sounds of the whirring of vehicles clearing debris off the street had been too close to ignore. The sun was rising before a single word was said between you and Bucky, tangled together on the sofa as the first ray of light made itself known.
“You’ve spent so much time piecing this place together, doll.” His voice was raspy. You know he hates when you see him cry, but his pain was always evident in his voice. “And it could have been all wiped away in seconds.” You let a heavy silence settle between you as you traced a pattern into his shoulder. He couldn’t bear to say it, but you knew what he meant: You could have been gone within seconds. “I just… I don’t ever want to feel like this again.”
You’d both gone through so much to make your relationship work. Nearly normal was as close as you would ever attain to being an average couple. The distance, the days without contact, and the ever-present fear that anything could pull you away from one another was something that had taken time to work through.
You looked around the living room and saw the place you had built together. There were photos and books scattered on any flat surface, a leftover mug half-filled with cold tea, and a record left out on the phonograph. The apartment looked like what love felt like; a messy combination of everything you and Bucky. But this apartment could not contain everything that ‘home’ was; only Bucky could do that.
The words fell from your mouth before you could restrain them. “Maybe we should move.”
Your eyes found each other, and you both sat in silence, though it felt lighter, invigorated with the new proposition.
Before he even responded, you could see tension dissolve from his shoulders. “Where do you want to move?”
You hadn’t thought that far ahead, only being able to provide him with a shrug. “I don’t know… maybe upstate, maybe somewhere else.”
“Your mom would like you being Upstate.”
“My mom would love us living next door too, but I don’t see that in the cards anytime soon.” You got a ghost of a smile for that.
“We could probably afford a house if we moved out there,” he said as he moved his lips to meet your forehead.
“Buck, I’d move anywhere with you. As long as we have each other, then we have all we need to rebuild this place.”
He pressed soft kisses to the crown of your head, and you swore you felt his chest flutter. “Tomorrow, I’m gonna look for some places, bigger ones too.” He tilted your head up to find your eyes, and you were sure that all of the love you carried for each other was incredibly visible at that moment. “You have made this apartment something worth coming home to. Now let me give you a house to make a home.” Your skin tingled with adoration as you pulled him as close as possible, burying your face into his neck.
You didn’t want to let go. You wanted to lay in this room, in this bed, and in this moment until the end of time, but you knew that something bigger and better was on the horizon for you and Bucky.
“All I heard is that you’re buying me a house.” His laugh was music to your ears.
