Siarra, did you see that a non-binary blog had a discussion about harry being trans and they actually said everything we have been saying for the last couple of months. Yet those blogs"will continue to call us transphobic. It's such as shame that those people don't care and won't read that people outside of this fandom AGREE with us that their behavior is not OK. nonbinaryresource(.)tumblr(.)com/post/635465206198321152/hi-i-wanted-to-ask-whether-or-not-its-ok-to-take
dgdsdfhas i wasnt gonna answer this directly bc ~drama~ and just wanting peace but then i saw some moots rb and whew! everything that person said is everything most if not all of us against headcanoning harry have been saying all along! and honestly i feel bad like i understand seeing things and relating them to you but going the extra step in saying for a fact that harry is this because of that (even tho in the larger context of what he says, it’s mostly interpretation of his words imho) and i worry because majority of this convo is what happens when you dont engage in a world outside of tumblr and discourse so if something happens to where they were wrong, i really hope it doesnt hut people
#the reasons why the anon would think harry's trans are the same reason ppl think harry's just a gay man#and platforming blogs who dont know what the hell they're talking about or trying to make a one size fits all situation#tbh harms ppl who are trying to figure themselves out more than anyone imho#i just hope this gender/sexuality talk gets nipped in the bud bc think about it#we are fighting strangers about a public figures' identities#we dont know harry we are not his friends#some subfandoms not just larries believe that harry (and the other boys too) are trying to tell them things discreetly#and that's messing w people's reality a lil#talk t me#Anonymous

Hey Allie this is a genuine question and it’s okay if you don’t know how to answer it. I don’t mean to be disrespectful to you or anyone even though my question is pretty direct. Maybe you can point me in the direction of someone who can if you aren’t comfortable with it. 💛 How come ppl tend to often talk about and say harry is gay and not often talk about or say possibly trans too? Is being joyful about sexuality but being on the low about gender aspects slightly transphobic? Cis-normative thinking? I don’t think anyone means to be transphobic. That’s not what i’m saying. I’m not an expert on this and don’t have experience to speak from so maybe i’m wording this all wrong. I’m sorry to anyone if i’ve been offensive and tone deaf. Also sorry Allie for bothering you with this. I hope you have an amazing rest of your Harryween!!
Happy Harryween, anon!
I totally agree there are plenty of transphobic aspects on why this is not more widely talked about. However, I don't think that is the only reason... there is a lot of discussions about his gender, I don't know who you follow, but I always try to make this discussion relevant and I see a lot of my mutuals talking about it too. However, I don't think we can discuss Harry's sexuality and gender in the same intensity. And there are a few reasons for that.
First, because Harry's sexuality is widely questioned for a decade, while more consistent and meaningful discussions about the possibility of him not being cis only came after Fine Line. So I think most of us are still trying to understand what that could mean, most of us are still trying to educate ourselves (and that's totally my case). Harry plays a lot with gender, but IMO it's impossible to tell what is the actual deal, or what is his gender identity. He could easily just be exploring the same way he could be transgender, who knows whether if he even figured this out yet. And he's the only one who can tell us that. On the other hand, the message about his sexuality is blatantly clear, there is not even any guessing involved at this point.
He's LGBTQ+ and he's being oppressed for that. That is the fact I believe that's what most of us are trying to fight against here. And that 100% includes gender identity, not only sexuality. This shouldn't be happening, he should be allowed to be himself, and that's the real issue here. But people have a hard time seeing and accepting that he may be gay, so never mind gender discussions. So I just think it's trickier than it seems and not necessarily straight out transphobia. If you would like to read more about that though, I have a tag for it.
