I shouldn't care (gripping the sink) I don't care, but I like how a few of the notes on that post I made about penguin movies seem to think I don't know what a trend is and are explaining how they work, despite using the word trend in the first sentence. hundreds of films come out in a year with different subjects and themes to copy, but for some reason, it was "march of the penguins".
#I do remember it being a huge hit of a documentary when I was 10 but I didn't see it at the time#someone made a really good point about discussions of global warming spiking during the early 2000s#more so the growing scepticism since there'd already been public awareness of it for around the past 30 years by then#but the backlash caused more debate and ofc ''an inconvenient truth'' came out in 2006. one year after ''march of the penguins''#the really ugly and obnoxious time people used al gore's rational insistence that everything was getting really bad as a punchline lmao#so it does feel likely that penguin popularity was caused in part by environmental concern.#probably in a more cynical way from the execs than any actual intent to educate#also cute marketable animals.
