Taeil and Doyoung have just finished shooting and are on their way back to the dorms, when a Dispatch reporter squad literally block the exit door, preventing them from leaving the building.

„Mister Moon? Mister Moon! Are you aware that it’s JooHyun’s birthday today?“ the woman in front shoves her microphone to Taeil’s face, making him stagger and bump into Doyoung, who’s just reenacted his famous aigoo, kamjagiya moment. „Of course, how could I not be aware of that?“ Taeil answers confidently. „Our sources claim that the, uh,“ she glances at her notes, „Resonance: Part 2 is supposed to be a gift for JooHyun from all the NCT members, but the album actually comes out on the 23rd, the day after JooHyun‘s birthday. Was this planned?“ the microphone foam tickles Taeil’s nose. He wraps his hand around the mic and after a fierce battle full of polite smiling and intense eye contact, he finally manages to yank the microphone out of the reporter’s grasp. „While we certainly feel like her family in many ways, we wanted JooHyun to spend this special day with her real family and friends and focus on herself, rather than attracting all the attention to us.“ In the background, Doyoung silently nods and smiles proudly. I taught him well he thinks. „Have you prepared some other gift aside from the new album?“ The camera zooms on mainly Taeil’s face, capturing only half of Doyoung’s wide-eyed expression. If I’m to be embarrassed on television, let me at least look good while doing it, Doyoung thinks and turns his face to the left. In all of the future YouTube edits fans will mistaken this as a loving attempt to help Taeil by whispering a witty comment into his ear. In reality, Doyoung‘s comment is just one silent ICY  word. „Uh… Hmm?“ Taeil leans front, pretending he didn’t hear. The reporter takes back her microphone, this time without any difficulties. „The album is of course a great gift, but surely it is a present for all NCTzens. Knowing NCT, you’ve certainly prepared another gift for one of your biggest fans?“ „We… have…???“ Taeil shoves his hand into his jacket pocket, hoping for a gift to miraculously appear, a piece of old chocolate, a cut out paper heart he forgot to throw out, a 1000 won banknote. All he finds is lint. Doyoung is painfully aware of how ridiculous they look. Once again, I must save the day. This moment will appear in a future „Doyoung: Must protect all my NCT kids“ video. „Hyung!“ he exclaims. „O_O ???“ Taeil’s face forms into yet another memeable expression. Question marks above his head will be added in post production. Content creators on Tumblr will finally be able to make a whole 3 x 3 „Confused Taeil“ moodboard. If dust bunnies exist, is there such a thing as lint bunnies? And is it a good enough gift? Taeil ponders.

„Acrostic poem! We‘ve prepared an acrostic poem.“ Doyoung finally blurts out and nods his head vigorously, looking at the camera and Taeil in turns. „Ah, right!“ Taeil sighs with relief, smile creeping back into his face. „Right… Joo!“ Doyoung gestures to Taeil. „Oh, me?“ The reporter thrusts the mic to Taeil’s chest, snapping her fingers quickly to notify the cameraman. Taeil’s face fills out the whole frame. I don’t need to describe how he looks like, you know exactly how. „Oh… Joo…“ His gulp is louder than his voice. „Joo… JooHyun!“ Off to a great start, but we can’t stop now. Doyoung gives Taeil’s shoulder a supportive squeeze. „Hyun!“ „…“ says Taeil. „…?“ says Doyoung. „???“ says the reporter, the cameraman and the lady from the stall with fried potatoes on a stick. „Hyunpy birthday ayyyyyyy!“ Taeil cries out with glassy eyes. He smiles and nods into the camera proudly. Half of Seoul unknowingly participates in „That Famous Facepalm GIF Reenactment Challenge“. The sound of crickets will be added in post production. Fans will of course turn this into yet another apado gwaenchanha moment, especially after seeing Doyoung’s tormented expression. „This was Dispatch and NCT’s Moon Taeil sending his birthday wishes to one of his biggest fans.“ „Wait, give me another word!“ I can fix this! „Mister Moon, is there anything you’d like to add?“ „Yes!“ he stares into the camera. „We are always thankful and we love you!“ Doyoung thinks it would probably be a lot less embarrassing if he‘d just passed out on the spot. „Yes, uh, very lovely, thank you. Well, JooHyun is indeed in luck, as she shares her birthday with many of her favourite Korean popstars. We are sure that all of them have something nice to say about her, making her birthday a truly unforgettable experience. My name is—„ „Wait!“ Taeil yanks out the microphone again and gestures for the camera to focus on him. „I…“ he sighs, „Dear JooHyun, we really couldn’t wish for a better fan than you. I am forever grateful for your love, support and your appreciation. You are an amazing person, awesome just in every way possible and from the bottom of my heart I wish you a very happy birthday.“ He sends a cute fingerheart into the camera. Doyoung excitedly hugs him from behind, wiping off a tear that threatens to spill, before revealing his gummy smile. „Happy birthday~~~~!“ <3<3<3 @remtaeil
