People tend to forget that kids are people. As a kid, whenever adults yell at me, my first thought was always "You don't have to raise your voice to tell me this, it's only scaring me. Why are you always angry at me? You must hate me so much." For situations like this, I'd let myself be calm first and just simply speak to the kid. Maybe ask them where they got the tool in the first place and tell them not to use them without supervision, and explain to them what I'll have to do now that the car is damaged, and then redirect their energy towards a similar activity. Then again, I'm just a 22 years old Indonesian college student who can't babysit because he can't meet the children's energy so eh take it with a grain of salt

#the part that got me was “a situation shouldn't go unpunished”#because boy now that we're not children anymore we tend to forget how it feels to be punished for such a harmless thing#yeah I'm calling this harmless because in the picture things like this is not worth making your kids cry for#god as a kid I always wished grownups would just explain to me when I did things wrong#and I always remind myself of that feeling whenever I was about to raise my voice at my baby cousins#those are reserved for actually dangerous situations like when they run into traffic#sorry if this comes off as aggressive#I've seen way too many comments on the internet about how they'd punish their kids over the smallest things#so this really ticked me off the wrong way :']
