I attended a Grange meeting for the first time in a very long time a few weekends ago. It was an open house, and my Father was receiving his 70 year pin. Not just 70 years as a member of the National Organization, rather, 70 years at the very same Grange he got sworn into all those many years ago.

He doesn't remember much. He's in a Memory Care community now, he's hunched, walks slow, and can't hear a thing. My sister picked him up, and we all celebrated his years as he received his pin, certificate, and badge.

Memories fled back as I sat, on the now padded, benches along the wall. The building itself is, I think, an historical building. It was moved slightly sometime in the 90's or 00's, and it's foundations rebuilt. My Uncle was a member too, and was part of the fiddlers club that would give concerts. I didn't go to many Grange Functions, but the Grange would open up to outsiders at Open Houses, Thanksgiving potlucks, and Christmas Programs, and maybe a few other events. I even participated in the talent shows at Christmas.

But then I got older. I would catch the bus to my private school from the basement porch that now, today, no-longer faces the street.

At the State and County fairs, I could see that the Grange affiliated FAA made plows, buggies, and other useful things. Produce was presented and received awards. The 4-H club was no less industrious. Photo exhibits were there, but so to were garments made by students who were learning how to produce clothes and other textile products - some of commercial quality. There were canning projects and baking projects, and the presentation boards gave summaries of all sorts of useful studies that had been done exploring natural dyes, raising the water table in a plot of land, creating a landscape that used plants that wouldn't need pesticides or fertilizers, and details of husbandry projects. Lasting things.

The private school, on the other hand, set my life on a trajectory of grades, steps, and benchmarks that had to be achieved per modern expectations. I didn't really have time for the Grange anymore - my school had it's programs and events, the church was partially supporting our attendance, so our attention focused in that direction. Because our private school wasn't part of the local community systems, FFA and 4-H weren't really on my family's scope. I did participate in a church alternative to Scouts, but it never really felt as though it was ever much more than a Scouting organization. You could earn a patch for passing quizzes for the most part. School had classes - subjects would come and go - get an "A" and you supposedly knew your material, an "F" meant that you didn't. Either way, in three months, you'd be on to a different subject, and new opportunities. I did well, I went to College, then a few years later I got an MBA.

My life could have been very different if I had stayed connected to the Grange community. Even though I wasn't Orthodox at the time, I saw a community of people doing things that they're still doing today. There was a stability there that I didn't hold to as I grew up.

This is what I've thought about when I've considered stability in my life.

okay so uhhh it's a dsmp modern au but it's like still the dsmp server, like lmanberg and stuff are still there and it's deadass just modern shit like i think it'd be funny to have tommy be a twitch streamer and also very much having taken part of the l'manberg independence war like someone asks his opinion on smth happening there and he's just like "i thought we already agreed on the independence i mean i didn't get shot at by a green asshole for nothing" and everyone fucking dies wilbur started l'manberg because he wanted to make drugs but didn't want to get caught illegally making them

techno is an acclaimed history author, and when asked how he's got so much good log of these events? he just goes 'oh right, I was kinda there for it or one of my family was involved so it wasn't hard just to ask them.' this is the only way some people avoid massive misconceptions about wilbur and others

i LOVE the thought of tommy just being this really political streamer, that's so funny to me. tommy being like a gamer and whenever someone mentions political shit he comes out with the most based takes

anyways tommy getting to the point where during a stream someone's like 'it's the anniversary of dream being put in prison' and tommy, out of nowhere, just goes like 'oh yea let me get my celebration cake' and launches into a full on rant about how dream sucks whilst also simultaneously dissing the prison system like you just go on twitter that day and see people fucking losing it, people on tumblr trying to piece together this guy's past, it's fucking chaos like the tidbits just like 'related to two terrorists and also an ex-president, apparently fought in the l'manberg wars/helped found it, hates dream, was there when dream was ARRESTED and has some personal vendetta, hates the prison system' and then one day, tommy drops a twitlonger. and it's just like 'warning, this may seem a little trauma dumpy and shit but like i kept you guys in the dark long enough. you get my juicy tragic backstory' and he just chronicles his entire history, leading to him getting three people cancelled, accused of making shit up, somehow tearing apart a whole historical community and crashing instagram in the span of a day he deletes the twitlonger shortly after.

i love the idea of tommy just dropping call-outs on twitter dot com. i think this might imply he started after exile but it's also a rlly funny thought to think of him tweeting "hey i'm gonna be on hiatus for a little while, i'm getting exiled from every country " in complete seriousness

tommy just like streamed once before exile as phil got him into it, but then everything happened and tommy kinda just fucking disappeared then he started once dream was in prison, originally just joining phil in some streams when he did them and starting his own stuff, then evolved into wilbur doing geogessur streams with him like. yeah i sure do recognize that manifoldland grass political streamer ctommy is incredible, you carry a massive mind then tommy ended up doing like political streams every saturday specifically where he'd answer questions and stuff since he seemed to have a lot of takes feel like he'd drop tidbits then, and after the twitlonger incident, the saturday streams got very interesting also tommy definitely drops callouts. like he just drops a callout for purpled at some point after learning he killed charlie. tommy, pulling up twitter dot com: i've come to make an announcement. purpled is a bitch ass motherfucker. he killed charlie. baked him in lava

wilbur geoguesser and like there's an obscure patch of las nevadas wilbur gets right away and he just casually goes 'well yea i remember that me and quackity had the best night of our lives right there during the whole burger chain thing' and left tommy scarred. wilbur meant like just hanging out and shit but he ambiguously left it so everyone would assume they just fucked i think it'd be real funny wilbur just being cursed as fuck on streams still like wilbur, getting another obscure patch of las nevadas: yeah and right there i shoveled sand into my pockets. there's a certain crunch to my burgers, that's for a reason foolish gets wilbur cancelled on twitter for that, like he just goes and bitches about wilbur stealing the desert he created, accidentally revealing that the desert is a scam and quackity gets cancelled too for lying sometimes he'll drop the weirdest shit like 'oh yea actually l'manberg was an elaborate drug ruse at the start and then i just wanted to be like hamilton'. imagine having the actual founder of a country drop the bomb "i just wanted to be like hamilton." i would lose it

every single day is the next massive scandal, you just ask "how's twitter holding up" and there's just "there has been 38 callouts today. a building is on fire. oh yea there are stan accounts. there are likely also dream stan accounts sadly

tommy just talks about exile at some point and you get the dream stan accs being like 'he's lying our scrunkly dunkle poo would NEVER COMMIT CHILD ABUSE' and then techno comes out and confirms it (he'd probably be an author tbh, cause he's canonically an english major) and then puffy confirms it and it's just a cascade of a bunch of political figures and criminals who all somehow ended up half-adopting this kid being like 'yea no dream is in prison for a reason he's like majorly fucked up' would also be hilarious if other servers were canon like social media is the only connection between them outside of travelling there so sometimes you'll see the hermits vagueposting each other or commenting on the dsmp politics at some point there's a whole petition to ban dream from mcc too to which the noxcrew just go 'no he's not getting banned we just exclusively put him on teams with people who could either kick his ass in a second or the most annoying assholes in the world' but secretly they just find it funny how much dream tries to pull his bullshit to win mcc and fails there's a whole channel dedicated to posting dream's manipulation fails too like nobody knows how they got the clips but i like to imagine it's secretly a group channel between tommy, sapnap, and sam or something. or just everyone has access to it. "FUNNIEST dream manipulation tactics GONE WRONG (compilation #12)" also just everyone fucking puts in clips but tommy and sam are the ones who edit and put them out to people

the dsmp's biggest scandal actually ends up being wilbur and quackity's brief affair during burger van /j there's also just a meme of tommy doing the live slug reaction cause there's also the fact tommy somehow ends up witnessing most of the gay moments on the server somehow live tommy reaction i just i think it'd be really funny hermitcraft's biggest scandal would end up being doc admitting to committing several felonies and accidentally being the reason limbo exists on the dsmp

so basically doc at some point in season 8 created shadow technology where items would like instantly refill and shit via some stupid redstone system, ik he had a shop for it. anyways doc accidentally rips a tear in reality doing that and nobody bothers to fix it and his visit to the dsmp to check on sam ends up dragging fucked up reality there

i think it'd be really funny, too, if phil and grian were like brothers still in this au and like sometimes grian just comes to visit and he brings along the weird pseudo-uncle mumbo who just spends the entire time at one point fixing techno's vault door. they just show up and nobody questions it and at some point there's like a board game stream with tommy and phil, to which they're like 'okay so wil and techno couldn't make it, they're currently off planning a murder so we have some other family members playing' and everyone just freaks out as grian and mumbo show up, perhaps even sam and doc end up coming cause sam is just tommy's second dad, and doc just wanted to drop the fact he created a tear in reality to twitter via a tommy stream for max chaos. immediately pictured that like an early 2000s kids show with someone showing up at the front door and the audience clapping and cheering hello twitch dot tee vee i have ripped into this feeble reality like a bag of corn chips, sorry about that

dream, during the board game stream with them, gets out of prison. sam put punz in charge and ofc, punz kinda decided to let his platonic sugar daddy out of jail and so like you're two hours into the stream when sapnap knocks on the door, and tells them the news and tommy's just like 'but sam put punz in charge so why- oh right. should've told you guys this but punz had been working with dream like… really closely. yknow that year in exile? yea so basically i learned a lot then. sorry' and immediately goes to grab a netherite axe that stays in frame the entire rest of the stream. the stream ends with dream showing up and getting his ass absolutely kicked by a 17 year old whilst the rest of his weird family cheers on (wilbur and techno showed up as protection) i feel like wilbur would be the one to end the stream while dream gets murdered in the background like 'bye chat, can't show this due to TOS and not traumatising people, but i will be vlogging the funeral, schlatt's was fucking insane and i think the green teletubby's is going to be an absolute festivity' party of a lifetime vlog and it's just dream's funeral. wilbur's funeral vlog ends with bad resurrecting dream and sending him to the shadow realm (doc's shadow tech bubble) it's just titled 'Dream's Funeral Bonanza (GONE HORRIBLY WRONG)' tommy, intro voice: dream just got murdered and it was HILARIOUS like tommy goes up to the stand to talk about dream first and just starts with that also also at the funeral there's another very heated quackbur moment (as allotted by the ccs every stream) in which tommy once again witnesses, but it gets cut off by shadow realm time i love the thought of tommy doing one of those video intros during a funeral. tommy steps up to the stand and starts advertising his merch OKAY BUT LIKE EVERYONE JUST STARTS ADVERTISING THEIR MERCH AT THE FUNERAL LIKE 'it's what prime would've wanted, fuck dream he sucks' somberly stepping up with a sad look then just pulling a youtooz out of their pocket twitter is just entirely crab dance gifs the dream stans on twitter try to cancel people but most of the site is fucking celebrating tumblr is full of elaborate messages congratulating tommy on his first successful murder and eret liveblogging the funeral puffy starts liveblogging as it goes on further, being the main source of quackity and wilbur doing their thing [from maria cause it's a banger] i wish that'd be real so bad just to see fanbase reactions, that's all i want. twitch chats. people making fun of news articles. twitter trending description. tumblr liveblogs. crab dance gifs for miles people theorizing that the server is just one really elaborate social experiment you have the like dsmp times being like 'it's so sad this happened' whilst l'manberg news is all 'the green bitch is finally dead' even the gaming journals commemorate the occasion honestly the entire thing does sound like a social experiment tbh

this au but like connor is there for the prison break and does in fact save ranboo from getting absolutely destroyed by dream as a way to coerce techno into backing down like techno's just there in the back looking for his brother and threatening dream, to which dream threatens ranboo and connor just goes apeshit and destroys the bitch. connor is just so powerful. he knows every fighting move. he harnesses the power of the sun. he is unstoppable
