i think shri’iia is less ambitious and more opportunistic — which, as a former oath of the crown for lolth a big 👀🚩 since ambition is like one of main traits lolth drows are supposed to have. honestly when it comes down to it, I don’t think shri’iia is as ambitious as she thinks. her pursuit for power when she was still in menzoberranzan is really from overtly compensating regarding her birth and lack of status (as well as her insecurities from that) and really less about her own interest about gaining personal power. she also thinks that it's what she should do as it's what lolth expects, and it's really more about her following and upholding the status quo.
when she got stranded in the surface, dominating or ruling above anyone was the farthest thing in her mind - she rlly just wanted to go home. i think she's the type to take advantage of any situation that she thinks would be beneficial for her in the moment (like her oath to the matriarch, using the tadpoles etc.) but she's quite short sighted and doesn’t really think about what she’ll do after. and when it comes down to it i don’t think shri’iia has any interest on ruling over anyone. she's a follower hence why she was an oath of the crown paladin before, and i think she can excel in leader roles over a small group of people she'll falter when it's a big crowd because she's easily influenced, very easy to manipulate (like u just need to appeal to what she likes = her oath) and lacks ambition of her own. she thinks she should be dominating at the top since that's part of lolth's doctrine, but now that she's not a follower anymore she doesn't really share the same sentiment. what's more important to her is that she serves her oath and she does whatever it demands of her, and that gives her more personal satisfaction than gaining any power methinks
