okay so... I was rereading chap 8 just now and... it only now occurred to me: luke/wolfsbane was talking about clary and Jocelyn right?? when talking about leaving Idris and marrying her and kiddo in college rn?? and I went ohhhhh, if it's Clary does Luke know she is a super? does Clary know Luke is wolfsbane?? does Jocelyn know?? does Luke know Maryse has kids called Alec, Izzy and Jace?? I have so many questions

so these are some very important questions, the answers to which will be revealed ... soon ... 

luke’s arc is nowhere near finished and we’re only just winding up to it, and as we get closer to the much anticipated election day, we will learn more about luke and what he knows about idris. and yes, wolfsbane certainly was talking about jocelyn and clary in chapter 8 during his discussion with alec! 

currently, clary does not know that luke is wolfsbane or has superpowers. she doesn’t know jocelyn has superpowers either ... clary’s powers manifested in secret and she didn’t tell her parents, which is one of the things that led her into idris’ employ, as idris likely have a gift for picking up young people with powers to shape as they see fit. clary’s story won’t be touched upon in the fic (it’s not really important to alec’s narrative), so i don’t mind talking about her.

now, as for luke ... the question whether he knows (or at least suspects) clary has powers is ... best left read between the lines for now. make of that what you will, but luke is a smart cookie, and he already assumed johnathan had powers based on his parentage. we’ll come back to this in later chapters, especially once wolfsbane meets muse and arkangel (which will happen soon). 

and as for luke knowing maryse’s kids ... well ... he knew maryse. he worked with robert. alec and isabelle certainly existed whilst he was at idris. i’m sure you can draw your own conclusions ... and so will alec. (also, it may be worth revisiting alec’s previous interactions with luke in early chapters before he knew luke was wolfsbane ... because some of luke’s reactions to both alec and jace are ... deliberate, shall we say)

i'd like to ask about super!clary! how did she end up in idris? does her family know? is jocelyne still alive in this verse? is luke her dad? how has her relationship whith everyone evolved?

so you have stumbled across the big plot hole of the fic which is whether clary is valentine’s daughter in this verse, and the answer is: i don’t have a clue! jocelyn and luke have been together a long time in this universe, pretty much since clary was born, and certainly while jocelyn and luke were both employed at idris. luke isn’t clary’s biological father, for sure, but clary has no interest in knowing who her biologicial father is in this fic, because luke is the only father she needs and that’s emotionally enough for her. if she is valentine’s daughter, i haven’t figured out how it plays into the plot and i don’t plan to, as ultimately it’s alec’s story, and not clary’s, and i don’t want her drama to impede upon alec’s journey here. this is also why i’ve avoided any mention of jace’s real parents or his relation to herondale - i don’t even think he’s referred to by surname in the entire fic, and that’s deliberate, because i just don’t want to think about it hahahaha 

jocelyn is still alive in this verse too - luke has mentioned her multiple times - but she has hung up her mask and is no longer a practicing superhero, for reasons luke outlined to alec when alec found out luke left idris. the main reason for luke/jocelyn being a thing in this fic, and not maryse/luke is because i wrote this before maryse’s redemption arc, and therefore before maryse/luke rose in season 3 ,,, so if i could rewrite the fic from scratch, i would want to push maryse/luke because I LO VE THEM. but i can’t change what i already wrote, so we’re just rocking and rolling with jocelyn in the background.

regarding clary, however, i think i’ve mentioned somewhere before, but essentially she was born while jocelyn was still at idris, so idris had special interest in clary because superpowers are genetically inherited, and as we know, idris like to start training their supers from childhood. they’re very eager to get their hands on clary, but clary did not develop her powers until she was a teenager, so idris stayed away from her for a while. it’s rather insiduous when you think about it, because luke thought he was escaping idris to keep his family safe, and yet idris had their eye on him and his child all along, just waiting for clary to come into her powers.

which she did, and then she started running around as a bit of a vigilante, which is when idris took notice of her again, and sent arkangel/jace after her to round her up and bring her into idris ... and that’s the story. clary was trained at idris and she’s essentially still in training to be a corporate now, which is why she’s often tagging along on missions with alec and jace as she’s still learning. it largely reflects her canon storyline, same with the development of her relationships with jace and alec. 

at the beginning of the story, clary is completely unaware that luke has superpowers or worked for idris, so she doesn’t see why joining idris is a bad idea. she also hides her powers from luke, although it’s safe to say luke is well aware that clary is muse (but we will see this later in the fic) and has suspected for a long time she would develop powers. luke can’t be happy that clary has joined idris, of course, but we’ve also heard how luke feels about alec/sentinel and luke trusts alec to move idris in the right direction, so he’s just keeping a close eye on the situation (which is hard, because clary doesn’t live at home anymore). i’d be really interested to explore clary, luke, and jace’s sideline story, but again ... ACN is about alec and magnus, so all that would distract from the main plot! 

i just realised that i don’t know if clary knows that luke = wolfsbane in the fic currently ... alec and jace know, so one of them should’ve told her, but i kinda glossed over that (or forgot about it lmfao) ... WHOOPS
