Ughhh from what I’ve seen of the avengers academy comics I think I’m gonna have to rethink my Nate plot….lol not a bad thing…I just wanna make this thing good lol…is avengers academy in 616? If so that makes bringing Nate back into the young avengers fold so much easier, but then does he go back to iron lad or stay kid immortus? Can he be a young avenger as kid immortus? I mean Carol knows he’s back in some way shape or form why hasn’t she told the other young avengers? Is it reductive to have him rejoin the team as they take over being the avengers of earth whilst the mainline avengers are in the impossible city in space, do I rename the young avengers the new avengers like that one team billy and Teddy were on…do Cassie and Nate get back together or do I let them go their seperate ways romantically (I kinda like Cassie and Kate because of volume 1)…my current idea is Carol does indeed inform either Cassie or Kate or both that he’s back and they both storm over like hey tf when were you gonna tell us you’re ok?! *grabs* we all missed you so much you’ve missed so much from over the years we’re catching up! (Lighthearted-ly)…also the Christmas panels from AA with Nate in Jammies fuels my young avengers living together in their base vibes so much like imagine their movie nights or like board game nights…imagine them all at 3am attempting to bake only to fail spectacularly….my slice of life loving heart melts =3
Um a small question, please don’t feel obligated to answer but how do you feel about billy and Nate as a potential crackship…I kinda like it won’t lie…the canon material does kinda suggest either a very close friendship or a lil crush on Nate’s part and I just think they’d be kinda cute and a nice dynamic together…I mean obvs billyteddy is canon and therefore it’ll never happen…but idk it occasionally rotates in my brain…
Wow this is so much I’m so sorry…uh thank you for your time in advance….you fuel my Nate richards and young avengers special interests! =3
ok wow hi i am late to this sorry; there is a LOT to unpack here so let me just dissect this ask by its points:
1) yes avengers academy is in 616
2) “can he be a young avenger as kid immortus” i don’t see why not! despite going by that now nate seems to be chilling with the rest of the school which implies his role as kid immortus is not inherently villainous
3) i… do not think carol recognizes him 😭 straight up she doesn’t even know who he is lol
Tumblr media
while they both appeared in children’s crusade i don’t think carol and nate ever interacted (if they did it isnt memorable enough for me, #1 nate richards guy, to recall) and her main point of reference for nathaniel richards is the older evil versions of him that she’s more familiar with going up against, so i don’t blame carol for immediately going NATE RICHARDS?!?!” at the sight of him. also important to note that the entirety of children’s crusade nate NEVER takes his helmet off, so carol wouldn’t have a distinct face to recognize as well. maybe when nate starts mentioning more time travel stuff around her she’ll put the pieces together, or if he just straight up talks to her about it lmao.
4) i don’t think him rejoining the team would be reductive, no — if anything him rejoining the team would be good for nate, i think. it shouldn’t happen immediately because he did just get to the academy and i’d like to see him form relationships outside of the ya, god knows the guy needs more friends and a fresh start, but i do want him to ultimately reunite with the team. there’s a lot of stuff that they haven’t fully resolved with each other in regards to nate and him being back gives the perfect opportunity for that
5) these story beats for your au(?) like names and relationships are up to you tbh, just take the ideas you like & go with what feels right instead of trying to force it all to directly follow canon. at least that’s how i’d usually approach it lmao
wrt to cassnate: i ship cassnate so i am biased to them getting together officially BUT i also wouldn’t mind if they never got romantically involved again. there’s clearly still feelings there based on their interactions in children’s crusade (cassie literally introduced nate to her dad before her OWN BOYFRIEND 😭😭) and paradox lost so i think they deserve to be able to properly explore them but it really just depends on a lot of stuff. also cassie is with kristoff so uh that’d be awkward unless she broke things off with him lmao. no matter what, though, i do want some sort of resolution for all the stuff that’s transpired with both of them involved and for the two to be able to properly sit down and talk about it all. they have both witnessed each other die at the hands of doom and that has to do something to them trauma-wise
if you need any fuel for cassnate and the state of things with nate as a whole, anthony said this back when i asked if nate knows cassie is alive:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
6) YES I LOVE THE JAMMIES!! those panels are so special to me, mainly because we rarely ever get nate in casual wear 🥹 in a majority of his appearances he’s just worn the armor, and the only non-armor outfits he was shown in were his school uniform and tanktop + underwear in v1. i’m hoping that with nate officially at the academy that we’ll see more of him in different everyday outfits and be able to learn what exactly his fashion sense is
7) funny you mention natebilly because i LOVE that crackship lmao. you definitely don’t have to worry about being judged for liking it because that pairing (albeit rare compared to b&t) has been around for a while thanks to that children’s crusade oneshot lol, i’ve even known some people in the past who were into it. ship or not, nate and billy definitely had a bond, platonic or otherwise, that i wish had the chance to be explored more.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i do wonder what billy thinks of nate now, after what he did in children’s crusade. if the years and distance apart means that they can never go back to being the friends they once were. or perhaps that old spark could still be rekindled. it’s stuff like this that makes me yearn for a proper reunion, if only to get answers to my burning questions about nate’s relationships, which are so sadly under-explored at the moment. maybe with him back we’ll get to see, who knows…
i’m glad to hear i fuel your nate richards needs! i’ve been a fan of him for years now and it’s always nice to see other people into him :))

I had an idea for a possible young avengers’ storyline in the MCU. So I decided to post it here. I know nobody asked for it, and most likely nobody will read it. But I wanted to post it somewhere, so who cares?
This is an idea based on what we already know is gonna happen in the MCU as well as some speculations.
Now these are just a bunch of ideas that I think would be interesting to see happen in the MCU for the YA. I have no idea if anything like this is gonna happen. At all.
First, I would like to point out that I am a huge YA fan. They were my first superhero comic ever. So, I would love for the MCU to adapt them as close to the source as possible. But I know that is not happening. So, let´s move on to the “plot”.
So, for starters, let´s answer the biggest YA question right now. Iron Lad. I think we aren´t getting Nate Richards as Iron Lad. Rather, I believe we are getting Harley Keener as Iron Lad. Now I could be wrong, and all this would be useless, but I don´t think Marvel would do such a complicated time travel storyline like Nate´s. Add to that Harley´s appearance on Tony´s funeral, and I think he will most likely will become Iron Lad.
The other option would be for Ironheart to take his place. And nobody really wants that to happen. It would be dumb and insulting. So, between no Ironheart, and Harley as Iron Lad, (knowing he has no personality yet, and therefore can be given Nate´s personality), the only option to take is the second one.
With that in mind, here is how I would turn Herley into Iron lad:
1) Give him Nate´s personality, trading his obsession with time travel, for science.
2) Make him responsible for the first big YA villain. Which one? Ultron. More specifically, his return with a new body.
How Harley would make that? Well let´s return to infinity war for that. We know Shuri downloaded most of Vision during the movie. I think it would be interesting if Tony salvaged what she did download of him, and rebuild Vision, as an AI, without his emotions. At this point, I think it would be interesting if Harley was on an internship on Stark industries. Like the one Peter said he had, except a real internship. We know Tony pushed himself away from most of the world between IW and Endgame. But what if Harley was the exception? Tony set up his internship so that Harley could have a good future, and kept watch over him. That would explain his presence in the funeral. Even if he was far from Tony, they kept a connection through science.
Now, let´s move to Endgame. If Tony rebuild Vision, why was he using FRIDAY? Simple, he wasn´t done yet. Maybe he had just finished it and didn´t have time to start it. Or maybe he didn´t even finish rebuilding Vision, Harley did it.
Now, where is Vision then? I think it would be interesting to contrast Harley to Peter Parker here. While Peter is Tony´s legacy on superheroics, I think Marvel should make Harley Tony´s legacy in science. And that is why I think Tony could have given Vision to Harley. And contrasting Peter to Harley, gave the latter access to Stark Industries scientific/information resources, while Peter got more access to resources that could be used for superheroics. Now, I know MCU Peter is a scientist too, but differently from comic´s Peter, that is not his big thing. Harley, on the other hand, is much more of a scientist/builder.
If I could touch one both of their storylines, then I would move Harley´s into a hero´s jorney, while I would slowly make Peter more of a scientist/builder. But that is just me.
Anyway, like this, Harley would have both access to Vision, and access to Stark Industries resources, which he could use to build Ultron´s new body. How that happens? After Tony´s death Ultron pretended to be a human, and talking to Harley online, influenced him into helping Ultron create an even better body than Ultron ever could. Then influenced him into creating a prototype, just to prove they could do it. And that was enough for Ultron. He took over the prototype, and flew away from Harley´s lab, went into hiding, and slowly upgraded his prototype body, according to Harley´s project.
Harley, ashamed, hide this and decided to take care of Ultron himself. Now it´s important that I think both Harley and Tony didn´t want the boy to become a superhero. Which means maybe Harley promised Tony he wouldn´t do it. However, he has to break his promise, and for that, creates a new suit of armor, based on Tony´s own armor, and his new Ultron project.
With access to an Iron man type of armor, and an objective, Harley realizes that he can´t defeat Ultron alone. So he uses a hidden file on Vision (left behind with express orders to only be used in extreme emergencies), the avengers fail-safe program. A program made to find youngsters with ties to the avengers who could become new avengers in the future.
Harley finds 3 close candidates: Eli, Billy and Tommy.
Now, moving on to these 3, Tommy and Billy would appear in doctor strange 2, but still end up dying, and being resurrected. Billy is close and Harley recruits him. Tommy is in Juvie, and therefore Harley can´t reach him. How Vision found them? Once Hex!Vision connected to White!Vision, he also connected to AI!Vision. At that point AI!Vision was able to keep tabs on the boys. He learned they had superpowers, as well as the signature energy for those powers. So, once AI!Vision found said energy signatures, he put them on the program.
Eli shows up in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, where I would use the Truth storyline. Now, I think Tony (or maybe only JARVIS) could end up finding out the truth about Isaiah, and decided to keep an eye on the Bradley family, even if just to protect them. I would end Eli´s storyline in TFATWS with him getting shot to save Bucky, and getting the blood transfusion from his grandparent. Which would put him in in the program again, since AI!Vision would predict him getting super soldier powers.
Iron Lad, Asgardian and Patriot form the first version of the young avengers. They start training, but not superheroing yet, while Harley looks for Ultron. The other boys don´t know he helped Ultron rebuild his body. Just that he found out Ultron was still alive somehow. Their first adventure happens in secret invasion.
Moving to Captain Marvel 2, we already know the enemy is gonna be the religious skrull. I would also use the movie to introduce Teddy. Basically the movie starts with us fiding out, in a flashback, that Mar-vell had a son, Genis-Vell. He fell in love and had a son with the princess of the skrull. Except he had to abandon them, in order to hide their existence from the kree. When her child was still a baby, the princess´s ship was attacked, and she was killed. She was able to give her son, Dorrek VIII, to her handmaiden, so he could be hidden. The handmaiden went to earth, and sought refuge with Talos´ people, not telling anyone the boy´s real identity. She raises him as a human boy.
At some point in Captain Marvel 2, we find out about a prophecy that tells Dorrek VIII will turn the Skrull into an Empire, and that said Empire will start on earth. Therefore, the new wants to capture earth to ensure that will happen. We are introduced to “alien” magic, which Monica confirms is like earth´s magic. The queen is defeated and then religious skrull decide to go after their prophecised emperor.
They find Teddy on earth, when he starts using his powers for Greg. He fights with Greg tho, and ends up in a bad place. The skrulls appear before him in the middle of a school day, and try to get him to join them, except he refuses. Billy is present for that, and calls for Harley and Eli, so they can help Teddy, thinking it´s a kidnapping. They “rescue” Teddy.
The religious skrulls end up revealing their presence on earth, alongside their violent intentions, and start a takeover of the planet. Secret Invasion starts. The boys help Teddy escape the skrulls, even releasing Tommy out of juvie, in order to have more firepower. Billy and Teddy start a romance. Teddy, at some point, takes the form of his favorite avenger, the Hulk, and discovers his super strength. Secret Invasion ends, and Fury helps hide the boys´ identity, including Teddy´s. He helps close the juvie that made experiments on Tommy. He also promises to keep watch over them.
They become the young avengers.
Hawkeye ends with Kate mentioning her sister´s wedding.
Ant-man 3 ends up with Cassie having a suit build for her, so she can travel through the quantum realm. She is forbidden from using the suit after it, and from becoming a superhero. She steals the suit anyway.
Young Avengers movie starts with Jessica Jones being hired to investigate the boys, who have started superheroing for real after the end of secret invasion.
The boy´s try to stop and attack on Kate´s sister wedding. The attackers have special weapons that incapacitate them. Kate saves the boys.
Close to the place where the wedding happened, Cassie, who was looking for the boys to join them, meets Kate, who also wants to join the team. They also find Jessica, who tries to convince them to give up being superheroes, given her experience. She realizes she can´t convince the girls, and decides to help them find the boys, thinking they will be safer in a bigger number. Jess, being Jess, finds them easily. The boys answer they are busy, since they realized the wedding was a trap. Harley says it was probably a trap from Ultron, who figured out what Harley was doing.
They decide to go after Ultron, since he is probably doing something big at that moment, hence, the trap.
Now, this is where things get fun, since I would mix up the children´s crusade storyline, with the “kang” storyline.
My idea would be for Ultron to have learned about magic, since he was connected to AI!Vision, who learned the truth behind Wanda. Ultron realized he couldn´t do shit alone, so he joins up with whoever is the villain from doctor strange 2. Now, for this, I would use Mephisto as the villain.
Now, I think Wanda won´t go bad, after the multiverse storyline. She will end up in a horrible place, but will remain a superhero. At the start of young avengers, she ends up in NYC.
Ultron and Mephisto set up a trap for her, and joining technology and magic, are able to take control of her. Or at least try to. The boys find them and start trying to free Wanda, who is passed out. The girls show up and join in saving Wanda. However, they still lose, since they had set up traps for the boys in case they appeared.
They disappear. Not before Harley is able to hack into Ultron and find out their plan. They wanted to use Wanda to cast a spell that would kill all humanity (for Ultron) and would give their souls to Mephisto. They came up with the spell together, and kept it inside Ultron´s memory. Harley stole the spell and erased it from Ultron’s memory.
The young avengers go to their hideout, where Harley explains what he found out. He decides to use the spell as bait, in order to save Wanda.
The villains, in control of Wanda, find the young avengers. They start losing, because of Tommy´s speed. Mephisto uses his power´s along with Wanda´s and they resurrect Pietro, another speedster, to fight against Tommy. The young avengers flee.
They decide to find out more about Wanda, and end up in westview, after Harley probs AI!Vision. They find out about what happened in there, at which point AI!Vision finishes explaining the truth about the twins. (This point could be used to have Ralph tell he is actually Simon Williams, and have him turn into Wonder Man in some way, I actually have a whole idea about how this could happen). Ultron and Mephisto find them. The YA runs away.
Cassie leads them to the pym laboratory. They explain what is happening, and Scott berates Cassie. They end up being found again.
At some point, Billy undoes Wanda´s magic control over Pietro, and he joins the kids.
Ultron and Mephisto realize they need to take the kids seriously, and get more violent.
The YA tele-transport again, but are intercepted by Doctor Strange, who noticed the insane amount of magic being used. They explain the situation to him.
Mephisto and Ultron remember they are heroes, and decide to attack New York to make them come out of hiding. Now, I hate the “save New York, save the world” trope. But seeing as most of the YA are from New York, this is one of the few situations where it would fit well. Mephisto releases a horde of demons on New York.
A final battle starts. Ultron steals the spell back from Harley. Wanda starts casting the spell. Agatha says she believes Tommy and Pietro´s powers have some sort of magical nature. They can bend time, and because of it, they can cancel out magic. Therefore, after the spell is activated, they circle Wanda and keep the effect of her spell inside.
The avengers from the D+ shows appear to help.
They divide into 3 teams. One to defeat Ultron. One to Defeat Mephisto. And one to stop Wanda.
They realize Wanda´s spell can´t be stopped, since only the caster can stop their spell. However, Billy can undo Wanda´s spell (when he released Pietro from her control), maybe because his powers come from hers.
He doesn´t know how to do it tho. Strange tells him to release his magic, and the other spellcasters will mold it to undo Wanda´s spell. Billy does so, but ends up losing control. We have the iconic YA vol. 2 scene, where Teddy helps Billy control his magic (in a perfect world, they would end up kissing in this scene).
The spellcasters use his power to undo Wanda´s magic. That also undoes the control over her. They all converse on Ultron and Mephisto.
Hawkeye realizes Mephisto has messenger demons. Teddy turns into one and takes him down by surprise.
Ultron builds a shield around himself, and tells the heroes he still has a second plan. He has control over the nuclear nukes on the world, and he will activate them. Eli tells him they have a Cassie. She appears inside the shield and stomps on Ultron, winning the day.
Of course, I also have many other ideas for specific character storylines. But I am tired of writing, and might add them on another day.
IDEK why I wrote this actually. I guess I just wanted to share it somewhere.

Note
your ideal billy/teddy duo comic (plot, character designs, artists and writers involved etc)
One thing that I've always wanted to see is a comic about Billy and/or Teddy that was produced entirely by mlm creators. Vecchio, Robles and Gracia are all gay artists who've worked with the characters on recent titles, and I'm eager to see more from them. While none of these artists have ever shown the characters in a way that exactly suits my wants, they've each demonstrated a clear personal vision of who Billy and Teddy are that I can respect. I find that Vecchio and Robles, as illustrators, both articulate a gay sensibility in their designs and are able to represent a range of gay identities and expressions with not only dignity, but real love, which is frustratingly hard to come by. Oh, also, Kevin Wada covers, because duh.
Writers are a little bit more difficult for me. I love Anthony Oliviera and I know that he's got a lot of ideas for the characters, so I'd be delighted to see anything that he might pitch. Vecchio also does write, and his creator-owned series, Sereno, is an urban superhero story in a modern fantasy setting-- something he describes as Batman Beyond meets Sailor Moon. Based on that, I think he'd do a great job telling a story about a witch and shapeshifter from New York. I know that Sina doesn't work for Marvel anymore, but I've always wished he could've done Billy and Teddy in a sweet little rom-com miniseries, or even just a single issue special. He's particularly good at writing tender, funny, and just unapologetically gay characters who signal authentic elements of our culture and community without making them cheap or laughable. That is a quality which I find essential for Billy and Teddy, and it's part of why I want more mlm creators to work with them.
If you had asked me this question last year, I would have had an easier time pitching ideas for these characters. I'm eager to see what the future holds for them, but "rulers of an interplanetary nation" was never part of my vision for how Billy and Teddy would be spending their early twenties. I did have this idea for an ongoing series about their "college years", wherein Billy would be studying magic with Wanda and Agatha, and Teddy would work part time with Carol or Alpha Flight while attending community college or learning a trade, like piercing or tattoo artistry. The idea was that they'd often spend time apart, as they'd each be focusing on their own careers and having individual storylines, but they'd always come home to each other at the end of the day and lend each other support, in ways both mundane and super-heroic.
I used to imagine that they'd stay in that nice apartment Sunspot got them, which would act as sort of a crash pad/base of operations for a revolving cast of their friends. They could convert one of the rooms into a magical sanctum for Billy, and another into a study room or art studio for Teddy. Tommy, America, Kate, or whoever could crash on their sofa whenever they're in town or need to do a team-up. Wanda could help Billy ward the apartment so that he and America are the only ones who can portal in and out, but then Loki would find a way to get around the wards and cause trouble, and there'd be a whole dramatic reunion. The whole idea could easily be adapted as a Young Avengers ongoing if you widened the focus from the main couple and treated it as an ensemble piece with individually chunked plot-arcs, much like the original series.
Unfortunately, that idea no longer holds as much water as I'd like because, for one thing, they lost that apartment and never explained why-- it seems like it was passively retconned out in between New Avengers and Death's Head. More importantly, they now live in space, with Teddy being a busy ruler of an interstellar Alliance, and Billy his prince-consort.
I would still like to explore the idea of them pursuing separate goals and working in separate fields while never being truly apart. Empyre introduced a clever plot device wherein Billy is now able to sense Teddy's location and teleport to him instantly, no matter the distance, which, I assume, works in reverse as well. This feat of magic is made possible by their marriage, which binds them symbolically and draws on the power of their love. They can go anywhere and do anything on their own, and still be together again at a moments' notice, which is super romantic and also affords them more flexibility than most superhero couples. I would still pitch a series about Billy doing magic work on Earth while Teddy does diplomacy in space, and one can always warp to the other when they need backup fighting a bad guy. They could even switch back and forth between staying on Teddy's throne-ship, and getting cozy at Billy's little Manhattan apartment when they want to get away from it all.
I guess my final answer is that I want the two of them to be fully realized, individual characters whose love is illustrated through mutual support rather than, like, being glued to each other's hips. The things that I want to see Billy doing are very far removed from the things that I want to see Teddy doing. Superhero characters tend to lose momentum when you marry them off, and superhero couples tend to fizzle when you keep them apart, but Billy and Teddy's unique strength is that they're never truly apart, and their relationship never seems to lose steam-- they've been a pair from the start, and... they're a little obsessed with each other.
The Billy story that I most want to see right now is a full Maximoff team-up. It could go in one of two directions: A) a quest to uncover Natalya's history and finally vanquish the Emerald Warlock, in which they're waylaid by Doom and other magic villains from their past, while teaming up with their magical friends around the world-- basically a sequel to Scarlet Witch; or, B) a showdown with Krakoa and a resolution of their relationship with Erik, which, best case scenario, partially reverses the Axis retcon and proves once and for all that the Maximoffs are mutants. If we got a longer series, we could actually do both plots-- they learn something about Natalya which leads them back to Erik, and the two arcs become a larger story.
The Teddy story that I most want to see is a Guardians-esque space romp with political elements featuring Teddy, Xavin and Noh-Varr as, like, a sexy-alien-boys version of the Gullwings from Final Fantasy X. Does that make sense? I don't have a great grasp on the political landscape of Marvel Space so it's a little hard for me to come up with details, but I know that the status quo has been totally upended, so there are going to be different factions and movements springing up, and likely no shortage of villains and space monsters rearing their heads when the dust of the war has fully settled. Teddy's a monarch now, but he's also been set up as this Arthurian hero-king, so I think there's still room for him to go on adventures and fight his own battles with his magic sword and, maybe, a crew of loyal space knights.
Having said aaaallll of that, I would absolutely die for a full-on fantasy adventure story with Billy and Teddy. I mean, Teddy's a king with a magic sword and his husband is a super-powerful witch. It's gotta happen. I'd actually be into them having a rematch with Mother, who is a pretty adaptable villain, in that her abilities and motives will differ depending on how she's been summoned. I'd also really like them to have a chance to go up against Sequoia directly, and on more even grounds. Quoi is such a great enemy for them because they represent the same generation of Avengers babies, and, actually, Quoi's origins are directly tied to Billy's-- their respective parents had a double wedding together. Sequoia and Teddy's arcs in Empyre paralleled and contrasted each other beautifully, but the two characters had no meaningful interactions. I want to see thems as arch rivals, and maybe, begrudgingly.... friends? Plus, I love that they're both alien princes who live in sci-fi stories, but whose aesthetics and powers are pure fantasy-- Quoi's a dryad wizard and Teddy is King Arthur, if King Arthur was a gay anthropomorphic dragon.
Anyways, that's my Wiccan+Hulkling pitch. The first arc is Billy and Teddy facing off against Sequoia in a magic forest that he's grown on his new planet, only to find out that they've been set up by Mother.
In the second arc, the three of them grudgingly team up against Mother while hashing out their shared backstories and giving Quoi, who's literally never had peers to relate to, a chance to fully come to grips with the way he was conditioned and manipulated by his father. Instead of conjuring dead parents, Mother seems to be able to summon dead children, which makes her particularly dangerous around the Cotati, Kree and Skrull, who've just emerged from a war and have countless recent dead.
In the third arc, Mother has freed R'kll and they've set their sights on Earth. Billy heads out with America and Tommy to ask Loki for advice on defeating her, while Teddy brings Sequoia before the Avengers as his charge in order to ensure that Quoi receives provisional immunity.
Loki is able to provide insight on how Mother might have been summoned and what the parameters might be for breaking the spell that's tethering her to Earth-616. It turns out that Mother is essentially holding Anelle's soul hostage and has been appearing to R'kll in her form. Mother's hold, at this point, has spread to the entire Alliance, and Teddy will have to defeat her or else she'll use it to destroy Earth and decimate his nation in the process.
Teddy recruits Wanda to help face Mother down. (side note, I'm desperate to see more of their relationship as in-laws.) Wanda agrees to work with Sequoia but insists on calling Mantis and making them talk.
The final showdown is the three boys, plus Wanda and Mantis, against Mother, R'kll, and an army of dead alien soldiers. Mantis and Wanda are able to pull Anelle's soul from Mother's grasp, but this doesn't banish her-- Mother's true anchor was R'kll, who'd been carrying Anelle's ghost in her heart ever since the destruction of Tarnax.
R'kll believes that she's always acted in the best interest of her nation, and she thought that bringing back Teddy's mother would finally make him see her way. Anelle and Teddy have a tearful reunion, but he admits that the only mother he's really mourned was the woman who raised him.
Wanda, Mantis, and Anelle, as a trio of mothers united with their lost sons, are able to reverse and seal Mother's power, which was based on lost children. They are not able to banish her, however, until R'kll steps forward and sacrifices herself, believing now that the best she can do for her nation is to rid the Alliance of the curse she brought upon it.
R'kll and Anelle begin to dissipate, but R'kll's sacrifice has called forth the spirit of Mrs. Altman, who is finally granted some closure and dignity in death by getting a chance to see how far Teddy's come and the peace that he's built in her memory.
Lots of crying! I made this sad. I'm sorry.

Do you think Tommy and Billy would ever given a tour of Stark Industries? I mean their Dad did technically help run it in a previous life.
Thanks for the ask!  I don’t think this is what you were looking for, but it is the first thing that came to my mind after reading your ask. I do apologize if the characterization is off at all, I don’t usually write from either of the twin’s perspectives but it was the only way to do this story . Hope you enjoy!
“And now we move into what many consider the true heart of the tour,” a peppy smile goes with a peppy wave of her arms and the impressively uniformed pep in the tour guide’s step, “the hall of heroes.”
“Kill me now,” Tommy groans next to him, mood perpetually spiraling downward for the last hour, “please just blink me out of this reality.”
The field trip isn’t that bad. Well, it’s not great, but it could be worse, like the time they went to the wastewater plant and there was a leak. “This is the last room.” It is also, admittedly, the worst room to be in as children of Avengers. Being in a shrine devoted to worshipping your parents and family while surrounded by peers that already view you differently kind of sucks.
“We’re at Stark Industries,” Billy waits for his brother to make some sort of point, shrugging off the aggravation in his voice and inspecting the first generation uniforms of their parents. The plaque has an asterisk that leads the eye down to a note stating all uniforms on display are originals, graciously donated by the heroes except for The Vision’s (Billy frowns at the unneeded The) which is a replica due to the still unexplained power he has to shift molecules.
Tommy begrudgingly joins in staring at the uniforms, “This crap is not what we should be seeing. We’re not fucking tourists.”
“Language.”
Dad has been trying, and failing miserably, to curb impolite language, so when he is not around, Billy takes joy in turn-coating his allegiance and policing it. “Oh bugger off, traitor.” They both laugh at the loophole they discovered early on. If dad doesn’t realize they’re cussing, then they can do it freely, until mom stares them down, anyway. “I’m serious, I want to see the top secret stuff, not,” he flings his hands out at the post-Thanos uniforms, “this.”
They’ve listened to their grandpa wax poetically about his innovations, sat dumbfounded at the technical questions from both their dad and their other science minded relatives. There is so much more than old Iron Man uniforms and the ten different shields good ole Captain America has used to protect freedom. “Mom and dad are meeting us at the end, we could just ask-“
Tommy recoils at the comment, side-eying him the same way you would a person espousing mind control through frozen corn kernels on the street corner (though that actually ended up partially correct and led to a few months without corn in the house and deep, empty looks on their parents’ faces). “You trying to steal the funkiller crown from dad?” Hands turn Billy toward a small, gray door with a white and red sign stating Authorized Personnel Only. “You know the good stuff is back there.”
“No,” even if they can easily distract the chaperones and slip away from their classmates, it’s not worth it. “In less than a day, I get to go with Teddy on a houseboat.”
Tommy’s unempathetic stare is typical when matters of his relationship come up, “And…?”
“And I’m not risking it.”
Billy moves on to the current day display (all replicas), fingers tapping through the buttons on a screen introducing him to the training rooms and the Stark tech that is changing not just the world but universes too. Unfortunately the twin devil on his shoulder follows. “We won’t get caught.”
“We get caught 91.35% of the time,” a stat so graciously computed by dad three weeks ago when Tommy ran (literally) out and got them Taco Bell for lunch and then proceeded to proudly eat his chalupa in front of the teacher monitoring the lunchroom.
A scoff signals this fight is nowhere near done, “One, even dad admits his computation is flawed,” a margin of error assumed of plus or minus five percent for instances of misconduct that went fully undetected, “and two, that means we have a ten percent shot at success.” This is said as if ten percent is equatable to seventy five.
“Or we don’t and I have a hundred percent shot at a weekend without mom and dad.”
“Traitor.” Tommy shoves him out of the way, taking over control of the interactive display. “Yo display lady.”
A pleasant, lightly accented voice streams from the luminescent screen, “How may I help you?”
“Where are these rooms?”
A three second lag exists between the question and response, “Official training rooms are located at the Avengers compound, while beta-testing and highly complex simulations are housed here at Stark industries.”
Tommy stares at him, assuming this is somehow convincing. “No.”
“How many records are held by Vision?”
More silence and then the screen displays a table of dates and times, “Vision,” no The this time, likely because it was programmed by grandpa, “has eight time trial records across the two facilities.”
Another look from his brother implies this is all they need to know. Billy shakes his head. “And Scarlet Witch?”
The screen dissolves before providing new information. “Scarlet Witch has five records for time and three for amount of damage caused.”
“Go, mom!” Tommy is always more impressed by damage than time, something Steve has issues handling in their own training with the Young Avenger Initiative. “What about as a team?”
It’s to the credit of Tony’s programming that the AI understands the request in relation to the prior two questions. “Scarlet Witch and Vision, as a team, hold ten time records and eight damage records, including a combined record on training course Twenty Three, level of difficulty Wish You Were Never Born that has gone unchallenged for over eleven years.”
“Unchallenged.”
A smarmy confidence rests in Tommy’s eyes and finally the logic of his questioning clicks.  “No way.”
Tommy glares at him before returning to the screen, “Where’s that course?”
“Course Twenty Three is located here at Stark Industries.”
There’s something infuriatingly infectious about his brother’s need to rebel as a means of satisfying his drive to surpass others. It’s so tempting to say yes, but Billy digs his heels in, refusing to go along yet again with one of Tommy’s plans that, though always fun, never have fun consequences and dammit, he wants to spend the weekend with Teddy. “Not a chance.”
Exasperation fills every inch of Tommy’s flail. They move on and the silence is nice, if not a bit unsettling. “Question.”
Billy makes sure his annoyance is firmly on display. “What?”
“Would you rather try and break their record or,” a lightning fast push spins Billy around, “watch Cody manhandle mom?” Mortification gnaws at his resolve, their classmate groping the mannequin from the brief time the Scarlet Witch wore a leotard and tights. It’s when Cody makes direct eye contact with them and starts pantomiming his intentions that Billy’s hands snap shut, blue energy tingling under his skin. “You take him down, guarantee that houseboat is gone.” An arm loops amicably around his shoulder, pivoting him towards the authorized access door. “We go see the good stuff and you have slightly better odds.” Billy is turned back to Cody, who has only grown more vigorous in his lewd gesticulating, “No houseboat,” and then back to the door as if there are only two options, “or a shit ton of fun and possibly a houseboat.”
Billy sighs and Tommy’s mouth tips into a beaming smile. “Fine.” Immediately his mind starts justifying the decision, an 8.65% chance not the worst odds in the world, plus, if they aren’t in the room when the prototype of the next-gen Iron Man happens to fall on Cody, then no one can point at him as the culprit.
Wordlessly they carry out the escape, Billy always taking on the role of distraction through subtle manipulations of perceived reality and Tommy gleefully vibrating his molecules to slip through the wall and open the door. “Let’s go.”
For some reason, he had assumed walking through the door would be like that one movie they watched, with the oompa-loompas, a door opening and a world beyond imagination appearing before them -flying suits, disappearing materials, explosions, scientists in white coats and blue gloves. Instead it’s just a hallway with beige walls and linoleum floors and doors lining the way. “So, what’s the plan?”
A thrilled, unconcerned lift of his brother’s shoulders drops their chances of success at least a percent, “Walk like we own the place and see what we find.” It’s sadly not his worst plan.
And walk they do, Tommy’s chest puffed out and arms swinging in casual authority. Technically, they sort of own some of the place, via dad’s stake in the company, so it’s not like they are being overly deceptive. Each hallway looks the same, making it difficult to track exactly where they are going, until they find another door stating Credentials Required and a face scanner affixed to the wall. Tommy doesn’t even hesitate in shimmying through the wall, so Billy follows, hands parting the space in front of him so he can walk through, closing reality behind him with some hesitation, certain there have to be cameras somewhere tracking them.
That concern is tossed aside because now they find the cinematic reveal, an open hangar in front of them with some sort of alien-esque ship on the ground and four floors of glass doored, luminescent laboratories spanning the reach of their eyes. “The good stuff.” This is far better than replica uniforms. “Let’s go find the simulation.”
“But look at this stuff!”
The self-confidence he had admired earlier also goes hand-in-hand with a tendency for fixation. “Yeah, I see it.”
Billy does his best to keep pace with his twin, who has a habit of speeding up his walk when excited while forgetting other people can’t move nearly as fast. That combined with Billy’s desire to peer into every lab space and marvel at the work, makes their trip stream by incomprehensibly. He thinks he saw a phasing suit, maybe a new particle generator, some sort of extraterrestrial looking staff, a portal to a mountain side, what he thinks might be a baby raptor, and also their grandma, who he usually loves seeing but pulled Tommy out of view before she could spot them. “Do you have any idea where you’re going?”
“Nope.”
“Fantastic.”
“Where are you going?”
The voice is instantly recognizable, one they’ve grown up hearing and it’s a little judgmental and a little bit amused. Tommy swings around and puts on the fakest innocent smile the world has ever seen. “Hey, Grandpa!”
Tony smirks, unconvinced by the tone of the greeting, but he isn’t angry, which is a good start. “How are my favorite rebels doing?”
“Great, on a field trip.” Billy is in awe of people like Tommy and Tony who can act so natural, can just ooze bravado and a sense of entitlement on a whim.
There is a nod and a contemplative droop of his goatee. “Seems you got lost.”
Tommy nods along, “Yeah, been trying to find our classmates, have you seen them?”
Now Tony chuckles, slapping his hands together, giddy at the lie but still showing no signs of annoyance or reprimand. “I have not, but I imagine they can’t phase through walls like you two can.” Billy, personally, wilts at the calling out, while Tommy shrugs again, matching Tony’s stance and attitude. “What do you two want to see?”
“What?” It comes out before Billy can catch it, surprised at the quick approval of their misdeeds.
“I asked what you wanted to see,” Tony stares at them, concerned he has somehow slipped into another language, “There has to be a reason you barged through my walls.” Learning to function in both the superhero world and just being a teenager with parents who have rules you don’t agree with, requires an ability to spot entrapment, certain phrases purposely worded as openings for waltzing right into admonishment. When neither of them take the bait, Tony acts hurt, a shake of his head and a pained, expertly acted, clutched chest. “I thought I was the cool, eccentric grandfather,” a smile threatens to wash away Billy’s anxiety as Tony continues in pantomimed betrayal. “Is it Thor? Would you tell Thor what you want? I mean, I don’t blame you, those gorgeous, puppy dog eyes are a killer.” A snigger from Tommy and all apprehension leaves the atmosphere, Tony’s toothy grin absolving all guilt of their sneaking around. “Seriously, what do you want to see? I’ve got a brand spanking new interdimensional travel lab, some Skrull-based camouflage trials, there’s a spaceship downstairs, Helen has an updated, palm-sized cradle.”
All of it, every last one is what Billy wants to see, but Tommy beats him to the request, “We want to do simulation twenty three, Wish You Were Never Born.”
Understanding dawns on Tony’s face, “Want to show the parental units up, huh?”
“Yep.” Tommy is close to vibrating through the floor.
“It’s really dangerous,” the mood darkens until Tony presents them a masterclass, uncaring shrug they’ve seen numerous times in his press conferences and Senate hearings, “but I’m not your parents and so it is my duty to aid and abet your delinquency.”
An ecstatic arm closes around Billy’s shoulder as they follow their grandpa down four different hallways and three staircases, emerging into a vast, utterly empty warehouse. “You all have suits?” Tommy whips off his sweatshirt to reveal the Stark crafted, green and white suit he always wears under his clothes, yanking his goggles from his back pocket and pulling them down over his face. Since this seems to actually be happening, Billy waves his hands, materializing his own caped suit in place of his jeans and t-shirt. “All right then, let me go upstairs real fast.”
The climb into the observation booth is agonizing under Tommy’s uncontainable excitement, his feet a blur as he warms up, running in place. “Quick disclaimer, boys,” they look up at Stark’s face through the window, “there are numerous things that can seriously maim you in this course, kind of why your parents hold the record, the whole made of vibranium slant your dad’s got going makes him uniquely qualified to handle a lot of this and your mom is terrifying as well, so together, magic.” A seed of doubt sprouts in Billy’s mind, yet it is not given time to be nurtured a, “Anyway, best of luck!” and then the room comes alive around them.
To say the difficulty level name is apt is a bit of an understatement. At any given time there are over a dozen different foes, and for each type of challenge, there are at least a dozen individuals within it. It ranges from laser guns, incendiary robots that look an awful lot like Ultron, replicas of the Black Order, phasing, flame wielding alien things, and Billy’s least favorite right now, microscopic, swarming jellyfish that blister the skin on contact. In amongst the chaos of fighting, he can hear Tommy cycle between “Shit, shit, shit,” “Oh my God!”, “What the fuck is that,” and maniacal glee. Slowly, and painfully, they take down the threats, sometimes combining forces to remove a particularly difficult foe, and sometimes splitting up to decimate the weaker challenges.
Looming over them is a very large clock, ticking away at their time and next to it, is the record of their parents. Their own clock continues, the numbers growing more similar to the goal and Billy assesses the surroundings, only taser faced bear-like creatures and giant bouncing orbs made of some sort of sticky, burning compound left. “Tommy!” His brother skids into view, mouth in a perennial smile and lungs heaving as he waits for the next strategy. “We have ten seconds, I say we vaporize.”
What seemed impossible is proven wrong, Tommy’s lips curving even higher as he fiddles with his goggles. “You hold them steady.”
“Will do.”
It’s a technique they birthed from their mistakes, the possibilities of their powers unknown and often discovered in embarrassing and unintentional ways. Like vaporizing soccer fields during gym class. Billy winds his powers around the last group of adversaries, wincing at the weight of their resistance as he adds more and more force to his hold. While he does this, Tommy runs a large circle around the bound creatures, legs pumping faster and faster with each lap until even Billy can’t track his position. That’s when it happens, a sonic boom that spreads through the warehouse, shoving Billy to the ground, puffs of smoke making the air murky, and then there is a “Hell yeah!” and the telltale sound of the buzzer their own training uses to signal success.
Tommy collapses on the ground next to Billy, “That was amazing.” All Billy can manage is a nod, lungs and body aching. “Do you think we did it?”
“Though impressive, unfortunately you were 8.65 seconds over.” Disappointing, but not bad. Far more worrisome is the unmistakably even English accent informing them of their failure.
Billy strains to sit up, glancing over his shoulder at the deep scowls of disappointment on his parents’ faces, next to the apologetic wince of Tony. “Fuck.”
“Language, William.” Tommy snorts and is met with a jab of blue to his chest.
Two strikes in less than three seconds and the houseboat is most definitely floating away, “Sorry, dad.”
“What are you two doing here?” This time it’s their mom, her accent thicker when she’s angry and currently it sounds like she just moved here from Sokovia.
A hand pats Billy’s arm, a reassurance that really isn’t helping. “The field trip was just so boring.” Nor is Tommy’s attempt at defending their choice providing any hope of bringing the boat back. “We just wanted to see stuff.”
The intercom clicks and they are presented with a predictably logical alternative, “You could have asked us after the field trip. You had shown interest in a more detailed tour the other night, hence the reason why your mother and I were meeting you here instead of at home.”
Billy flops his head to stare deep into his twin’s goggled eyes, “I suggested that.”
“Shut up.”
Another click and mom is back on the microphone, “We’ve been speaking with the Altman’s,” any last, clinging hope withers away, “they were really looking forward to having you with them this weekend,” the feeling is mutual, “they suggested a nice compromise.” He waits to learn what this is, worried if he asks it will harm any goodwill left. “They invited all of us along on the trip.”
Despair is far heavier than the physical toll of the course, and isn’t helped at all by the thumbs up next to him and the out-of-breath, “Yes, I love houseboats!”

If you don't mind me asking, how did Lotor become one of the Stuckate Kids?
It wasn’t a defined moment
(and there’s the potential that Loki found out about Lotor waaay before anyone else did and popped in occasionally to check on him. There are just a lot of similarities between Loki and Lotor and I like the idea of God of Stories!Loki looking at all the nonsense Haggar and Zarkon put Lotor through and just going NOPE)
and actually, there are two possibilities, and I’m not sure which one is…The One.
Possibility one is that Loki sees Lotor’s story and goes “yeah, no, fuck that,” and kidnaps baby/kid!Lotor occasionally and looks out for Lotor themself or drops Lotor off with parents they know–Angela and Sera; Billy and Teddy; Jessica and Luke; Kate, Steve, and Bucky. Obviously, Lotor has to be un-kidnapped since he’s a space prince and people tend to notice when those go missing, but I see it as that Loki would be able to get away with kidnapping Lotor quite a bit–a few days every few months, which adds up when you consider how long Lotor has been alive.
At that point, he’s basically One of the Kids anyway
Possibility two also involves Loki, but more in a “your story sounds a lot like the story of this god i once knew as a kid and Loki turned out okay the second time around but that time around Loki was also not in a super toxic environment”. Idk, for me, Lotor being accepted by any Marvel character is heavily influenced by their relationship with Loki, and I tend to think of Loki and Kate as having a positive relationship
but anyway, the second one is basically Kate and co. going “wow you had a really fucked up childhood, I wonder what happens if someone actually helps you develop a moral compass” and their parent instincts just taking over. “You have shitty parents?” Bucky might say. “WRONG. WE ARE YOUR PARENTS NOW.”
Lotor’s need for a family is palpable. Stuckate sense that. They know what it’s like to feel so desperate for family–Kate joined a superteam to find one! (and no, that’s not the only reason she joined the Young Avengers, but I think, on some level, that’s why all of them joined the Young Avengers. They were all alone in their own way, and they found each other.) So it’s pretty quick, them pulling him into the family, at least as far as protecting him, trying to get him what he needs, being concerned for his mental health and physical wellbeing, but I don’t think they realize that they think of him as Theirs the way they think of their kids right away?
Like, at a certain point I think leading a team that you’re significantly older than and parenting the members of that team sort of blur together, and Lotor doesn’t exactly know what being parented feels like so by the time he realizes that Steve isn’t telling Hunk to put down the damn calculations and go to bed it’s been going on for a while. And the idea of being mothered doesn’t have any good connotations in Lotor’s mind, so Kate bandaging his scrapes or earnestly listening to his ship construction ideas, or helping him cook a traditional Galra dish, or sparring with him in a way that doesn’t involve relentlessly beating him doesn’t even BEGIN to cross his mind until he sees her do the same thing with Shiro, Ryou, and Keith. At that point Lotor can extrapolate the data and apply it to his own experiences
so I guess what I’m saying is that Lotor consciously realizes that they’ve sort of adopted him and internalizes that data (they haven’t said it, but again, it’s clear in their actions) and he doesn’t want to but sometimes he does sort of think of them as parents, and he never really had anyone to call “mom/momma/mommy” or even “dad/pops” because “father” was more of a title for Zarkon, one that he didn’t like all that much, and for Lotor the word feels distant and cold. When Shiro says “dad” or “pops” there’s warmth there, familiarity, family. Lotor wants that.
(so when he calls Kate “mom” it’s absolutely something he’s been thinking for a long time, he just never meant to say it)

Young Avengers Again
tl;dr ~ the young avengers are at it again! cassie lang went to her friends in the hope of reforming the team, even growing the team, and can you believe only one little snaffu reared its head for them? of course, it’s nothing the young avengers can’t handle together !!
@marvelbcy @bllykpln @nvthawkguy @cfteddyaltman @feelthestcrm
CASSIE
she took a private, small breath before she picked up the giant bowl of popcorn she'd made them. all her nerves stemmed from one fact: she wasn't going to keep quiet anymore. cassie was restless and already in major training for Stinger, and it was well past time she talked to the team about that, "alright my dudes," she calls out, plopping the popcorn on the coffee table, looking from billy to teddy to kate to noh-varr, who perhaps had never been on a team with her, but he was indeed a young avenger now, just like the rest of them, "I've been thinking a lot-- scary, i know," she smirks, reminded that at the end of the day, she's simply around her friends at the moment, "but... i want to reform the team," it was blunt, but her gaze was curious, gentle. she wasn't sure if this would be too much for anyone, she couldn't blame them if it was, but she wasn't going to be able to keep it in much longer anyways. she opened and closed her mouth twice as she tried to figure out what to say, but instead just looked around again, "thoughts? good, bad, ugly?"
NOH-VARR
noh looks at the popcorn placed down on the table, leaning in to observe the food. he takes a few out of the bowl, to take a bite of it. there’s a pleasant surprise to how good it was, and he decides to make a mental note to ask where he can get more of this later. he starts to pay attention when cassie walks in. he has never been on a team with her despite the fact they were both young avengers. upon hearing what she was thinking about, it doesn’t take him long to come up with an answer. “well you can count me in. i quite miss our adventures together.” the alien looks at his friends, and then back to the woman with a grin of his own. “ I still have my ship if we would need transportation.” he mentions as he crosses a leg over the other.
BILLY
the witch always loved to hang out with cassie, and all of his friends no matter what the occasion was. they were important to him whether they were on a team or not. while billy hasn’t exactly stopped the hero work, wiccan was very much around when he needed to be, especially now that he had a lot more experience and control over his magic. however, he missed the team too. he raises an eyebrow at noh eating the popcorn for the first time, and then shrugs his shoulders as he focuses back onto cassie talking. “You want to reform the team? well if you ask me we should have done that a long time ago. count me in as thinking this is a good idea.”
KATE
kate likes to imagine she knew cassie better than she knew herself in most ways, still the team think shocks her a bit. a smile spreads across her face at the suggestion. though, she can't help but ask, "tired of hawkeye and stinger already?" her words carry a lightness and a jovial tone. "it's just another one of your genius ideas, cass. of course i am all for the team reforming." a brief pause and her smile becomes fond, "i've missed fighting crime with you losers way too much to consider saying no."
TEDDY
Teddy can't help but smile at Cassie's news. Of course he smiles, how could he not? He loved the team, loved the work they did together even if it was dangerous and difficult sometimes. They were easily his closest friends - and besides, he and Billy have still been doing the whole saving people thing, even if they had taken a break for a little while. "I'm in. Though I bet you already knew that." He answers immediately, glancing over at Billy for a moment. "It'll be nice to have the team back together rather than just us, right?" His gaze turns back to Cassie, tilting his head to the side a little. "What did you have in mind?"
CASSIE
okay first off, the fact that noh-varr has a ship brings a grin full of mischief and surprise that it's impossible to hide it from the people that know her best. still, she resists going off on that curious tangent, making a mental note to definitely find out what this ship can do. staying at the task at hand, she blinks, smiles and nods as she composes herself-- no matter how serious she was, cassie lang couldn't hide that moment. still, each agreement brings a wider grin to her face, a few more inches (figuratively, for now at least) to her height. she glanced only briefly at the few empty spaces where others would be... soon was all she could think before the present caught up to her again. beaming, she clasps her hands together as she launches in."i mean, if we have hawkeye and stinger, and wiccan and hulkling, we may as well just smush 'em together with this alien guy i haven't had any adventures with," she's grinning, shooting a wink at noh-varr. cassie stood as she explained, excitement demanding it, "the avengers seem like they're in limbo right now, and we have a danger room we can practice in when we can't go off campus. also, have a think on how many other potential heroes our age are here right now," her grin fades, but into something more earnest. it's clear her mind's thought things through, "i mean, we have lanterns, the kids of the x-men, the justice league, other kids of the avengers too, and those are just the obvious ones," she bites her lip for a moment, choosing her next words carefully, "the thing about the avengers was that they had so many people to call on at any time. that's what i've been doing to get Stinger going. but now that they're in this limboish state, that's gone for our generation. and we're all already trying to fight people. we just need to show that it's happening, so everyone's not off trying to fight Galactus on their own if he shows up," and, as she finishes, she knocks on a piece of wood, just for good measure.
NOH-VARR
Noh keeps his attention onto Cassie as she speaks knowing how important this was. He was the most proud of his work with the Young Avengers, it helped shape him into a better person. He would always help them because after all that’s what friends do. He wants to be a good asset for the team, and ultimately wants them to know that they can count on him when it comes down to it. “Well we can be introduced now. I think we will be good friends.” He says with a smirk as he looks back to Cassie. “It does seem like the perfect time for us to rise up again, the world does need us to kick some ass as you say it.” He says with a sense of confidence.
BILLY
Billy had been continuing to fight anyway, but what could be better than doing it as a team again? He always loved their adventures so he can’t help the smile on his face as he’s listening. “If they’re taking a step back then we need to be the ones to rise above and protect the world from the threats that will be coming in. No matter how small or big they are. I think we can handle it.” He says, using a wave of his finger to bring his coffee cup to his hand, taking a sip of the hot liquid.
KATE
First and foremost, Kate Bishop was a hero. She loved it more than the hours spent in soup kitchens, cleaning up parks, or any of the other activities she took up to ease the guilt her now former wealth left within her and, somehow, hopefully, change the world. In purple spandex, it finally felt like she was helping people and the world. With or without her team, it wasn't something she had ever given up or something that she could imagine ever giving up, no matter her preference for with. “I'm all for picking up the slack around here.” She grinned. “Who did you have in mind for new blood, Cass?”
TEDDY
Teddy can't deny it'd be nice to be part of a team again. He and Billy have been doing their own thing for a little while now, but it'd be nice to have everyone together again, to work on things with the team rather than just the two of them. It's something they both love, why not make the most of it? "You're right, Cassie. It's one thing to be ready - but it's totally different to have a team that's ready too. Especially with so many people we're not used to yet." He's sure they can all find a way to operate together, but teams are built on hard work, on getting used to the way other people work, how everyone's powers operate and how to fit them together. And they need to start somewhere. "Like I said, I'm in. 100%."
TOMMY
Tommy had been keeping quiet this whole time. He didn't expect this to be the conversation they would be having today, nor did he expect the way it would make him feel. He could have sworn he was over this years ago, but it seemed instead he had just bottled it up and made himself forget it was there. Now that bottle had been smashed and the wound reopened. Part of him wondered why he was even here, after all they hadn't had any trouble moving on without him over the years. Maybe it was just formality or maybe Cassie really was just that much of a sweetheart, but he couldn't help feeling out of place here. "I'd just like to remind everyone in this room that I never left the Young Avengers," he said finally, he couldn't keep his sadness hidden from his tone, nor could he hide the edge of anger the crept in alongside it. "The Young Avengers left me." With that Tommy stood up and grabbed his jacket. "I can't say I'm in because I've never been out. I was always in. I always will be." Then he walked out of the room.
CASSIE
all at once, it's like cassie's hopes and dreams are materializing in front of her. she couldn't help but giggle at noh's comment, first impression going relatively well ( especially with the space ship ) and somehow her grin continued to grow. still, her eyes trailed over tommy more than once, noticing a different reaction, even if it was silent. "well, i think miri would be a good fit, and i think she needs somewhere to use her magic," cassie said confidently, "but i have ideas," her smirk sold nothing but mischief. cassie nods at teddy, "exactly, a new team means new training, figuring news things--" and she was cut off as she saw tommy stir, instantly nodding to give him the floor. her mouth hung open as he spoke, not expecting this in the slightest. cassie's brow scrunched together, looking to the others, who were actually present to know the details of what happened. as he got his coat though, cassie stepped forward, already walking after him, "tommy, wait!" she pauses before leaving the room, turning to the rest, "okay, to be continued, but mostly a success i'd say?" she says, ghosting a quick smile before dashing out the door after her friend.

hey young avengers fandom i know this is late but can we maybe take a second to talk about your shipping habits?
ok so you know david and tommy? these two?

yeah, this panel comes from an issue they had all to themselves to focus on their relationship. (in an ensemble book.) (which was only 15 issues.) after this issue, often considered one of the best in the series, david is led to join the young avengers and start up superhero work again because he has been looking for tommy for who knows how long after his disappearance at the end of the issue.
also, they kiss. in this same series. remember how it took billy and teddy six years (from vol. 1: sidekicks to avengers: a children’s crusade) to kiss, after being an established couple from day one?
Tumblr media
which, okay, that was a fakeout kiss, i’ll grant you that! not that shippers are particularly known for caring about semantics like that, but it’s a fair point. so for good measure, here’s another one:
Tumblr media
thanks, kris anka, for my life.
wrapping that up, let’s talk about a different ship! tommy and noh varr.
Tumblr media
this was the best picture i could find of them together. and they’re both focused on kate, a former romantic interest of them both. not a promising start. as a matter of fact, the two weren’t in the same place until the last issue of the series, and even then there’s no direct interaction or even explicit confirmation that they have met or been introduced, until, uh... *checks watch* the present day.
so. shall we check the stats? (as of 7/12/17)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
...and that’s a little more balanced than it used to be in the past!
now how do we think a ship involving noh varr:
Tumblr media
got so much more popular than a ship with david?
Tumblr media
it’s a mystery for the fucking ages.

Where the sun is shining on us still
Fandom: Young Avengers, BillyTeddy/Wickling
AO3 version here
Mer au with Mer!Billy. Pure fluff.
Billy and Teddy have a love that rivals the depths of the ocean(and Billy should know, having plumbed those depths himself.)
AN: I’ve had this in my WIP folder for a long time, but MerMay brought out an ending. This is just a little indulgent shipping mer au piece. Title from “Sirens” by Cher Lloyd.
The warmth of Land confuses Billy as much as it entices him.
Not that Genosha is cold, nor is it hot; it simply is, and it has always been that way. Constant, dependable. An extension of his entire being, as much his family as those around him. It exists in the soft tones of his mother's singing, ever-present in the walls of the palace, weaving the old stories of their people through every corridor; in the harsh whoosh of passing water that follows his brother and uncle as they race; in the stern gaze of his grandfather that permeates out from his place on the throne, watching his family as they glide throughout their lives. Genosha is there in every breath he takes, in the space between his scales, in every droplet of water clinging to his skin when he lifts himself onto shore, like it's trying to cajole him into slipping back into its depths.
Genosha is his Land; he supposes that makes Teddy the Sun.
It makes perfect sense to Billy. Everything about the boy just seems to emit light; not just his thick golden hair that falls into his eyes, perfectly messy in the way only Land hair can be, but the sheen to his light blue eyes, real blue eyes, not the way Billy's brown will glow blue to illuminate the darker depths of the ocean. His eyes mimic the Sun and Sky gleaming down through shallower waters, and his wide smile outshines them both. Usually flashing teeth means trouble in Billy's world, an implicit threat of a brewing fight, but on Teddy it fits perfectly, like a door swinging open to show him everything this strange world has to offer, everything sitting in the palm of Teddy's outstretched hand. A hand that is never anything but tender when Teddy wraps it around his waist or slides their fingers together, something that should make him want to flee but makes him feel so cared for. Like Teddy thinks of him as something precious.
But all of that, as wonderful as it is, can't compare to the way it feels when Teddy kisses him.
The first time is an absolute shock, and a literal one; he used to shock himself on things all the time as a fingerling, but until now he'd maintained a good control. Billy's only seen half-decayed paintings of human intimacy, but it always seemed a little passive, like something that just happened and then was over in the blink of an eye. He loves his family, they love him, but overt displays of intimacy and skinship don't come naturally to merpeople; even hugs are pushing the limits of their comfort a bit. He's not prepared for the heat racing down his spine and through every one of his synapses. Not ready for his suddenly racing heart or the dizzy headiness that comes with the lack of air, or the white-hot spark at the place where their lips meet.
(He absolutely will not admit to any flailing or screeching that absolutely didn't take place. The rock was still to blame for the knot on his head; it moved just to spite him.)
(Though, it probably wasn't his best move to panic and run off afterward. He'd been too confused to go back for a few days, and by the time he finally got himself together and realized that hey, maybe this kissing thing was something he should pursue, he'd found Teddy dejectedly sitting on the far end of the pier and felt so guilty about hurting him that he had half a mind to just go and find a few sharks to throw himself to. He makes it a point to try to let Teddy explain anything that weirds him out before he lets himself lose his shit in the future.)
Teddy's hesitant to try again after that. Billy is very persuasive.
It soon becomes the best part of every visit. There are times when Billy won't even let Teddy finish what he's saying, too eager to have their lips together again. Teddy takes it with good enough humor, would probably be within rights to get annoyed, but how can he, when someone as incredible, as impossible as Billy, is interested in someone as normal as him?
Teddy thought he'd been hallucinating the first time he saw him; dealing with all of Greg's never-ending bullshit had finally made him snap. He was gonna have to go home to his mom and break the news that he was seeing fairy tale creatures on the beach, and probably needed to be on medication or something.
But the hallucination saw him, too, and then the question became not if he existed, but how.
He was so sure he'd screwed everything up when he kissed him the first time. He shouldn't have assumed; just because Billy looked more or less human from the waist up(minus the teeth and frills) didn't mean that mermen kissed the same as humans. A painful shock, a screech, and Teddy had ripped his lips away to see Billy fling himself back into the water as fast as possible, leaving Teddy alone for a week with burned lips and a broken heart. He'd come out every evening after with a flashlight, staying as long as he dared and heart sinking when he was met with empty waves, until Billy swam up to him with a mesmerizing-ly beautiful abalone shell and an apology on his lips. He watches Billy more closely after that, moving more slowly as to not scare him, and with even more wonder clenching his heart over the fact that he actually came back.
(The way Billy jumps him, though, assures him he's gotten over it.)
How does Billy exist in this world? How does someone who looks so fierce and wild and brilliant want to make regular, romantic contact with someone who can't even manage to stand up to a bullying jackass at school? How did Billy, who brings to mind every myth he'd ever heard from his mom or read in books about sirens that enchanted men with their great beauty and voices to drag them to the deep for their meal, look at him with eyes full of both want and trepidation, like Teddy will be the one to push him away or something?
It doesn't make a lick of sense to him. It probably never will.
Freezing water laps at their sun-warmed skin, and Teddy looks over to find Billy watching him with warm, soft eyes, and he pulls him into another kiss and thinks that maybe it shouldn't have to make sense.
Maybe being part of a fairytale wasn't something meant to be questioned.

Goal - tag 9 people you’d like to know better. Only my tiny brain can’t keep track of who’s already been tagged… so I’m skipping that part!
I’m not generally one for posting much about myself (I may share interests with a lot of folk, but I myself am not that interesting, or that good at communication/ socialising/ being in any sort of contact with other human beings). But I was tagged by 2 separate people, & who am I to deny @expectogladiolus & @billionhighways
Relationship status- single. Eternally so (see above disclaimer)
Favourite colour- varies, but I always tend to return to midnight blue or forest green
Lipstick or chapstick- I have pots/ sticks of lipsalve of various makes, scents & flavours in every room of the house, in every bag, every pocket & (most importantly) under my pillow. I’ve been told I have a problem….
Last song I listened to- I’m quite relieved to be honestly able to name a current song, rather than my normal ancient catalogue- Katy Perry’s Chained to the Rhythm on the radio while driving home from visiting my patents
Last movie I watched- Guardians of the Galaxy 2. Utterly stupid & utterly brilliant (although they made the opening credits much too good for the rest of the film to quite live up to)
Top 3 tv shows: 1. Buffy- can’t believe it’s 20 years old, & still the only thing to come closer to its brilliance is 2. Firefly- yep, I’m a Whedon fan, can’t deny it 3. Gonna go for Orphan Black- I’m way behind (Netflix really need to get S3 & 4) but have loved the first 2 seasons
Top 3 characters: tough one, this, but, for the moment at least… 1. Ignis Scientia (FFXV). Perfection in pixel form. If only he were real. 2. Billy Kaplan (Young Avengers). Kind of my spirit animal, I think. 3. Granny Weatherwax (Discworld). The totally bad -ass, smart, in control, down to earth woman I’d love to be.
Top 3 ships: again, this varies, but currently: 1. Ignis Scientia/ Gladiolus Amicitia (FFXV). This just grabbed me by the collar out of nowhere and slapped me across the face after Altissia. I was NOT looking for a ship to obsess over, at all, but I was helpless to resist. Gladnis has pushed my long-standing otp down to 2. Billy Kaplan/ Teddy Altman (Wiccan/ Hulkling, Young Avengers). Have obsessed over these (canon) teen sweethearts for years, & suspect I always will. Emphasis is on sweet with these 2 utterly adorable nerds. 3. Willow Rosenberg/ Tara Maclay (Buffy the Vampire Slayer). Damn these 2 destroyed me. And nearly 20 (!!!!!) years later I STILL occasionally dream about Tara (beautiful, soft, gentle, giving, sexy, lovely Tara) being resurrected & returning to Willow, thereby restoring light & goodness to the world.

Note
if you're taking the fandom meme thing, i'd be interested to hear your feelings on young avengers? (on anon bc i'm Shy)
send me a fandom and i’ll tell you:
my beautiful cinnamon roll too good for this world fave:
Cassie and Jonas both deserved so much better.
my trash-shit fave:
I love Noh-Varr with all my heart but honestly he’s just… a flaming tire fire like 75% of the time.
my I love to hate them fave:
Sylvie Lushton! She’s awful and I love her.
my I hate to love them fave:
???? Maybe Loki, since saying “I love Loki” gets you a lot of annoying people trying to judge you for it (especially MCU-only fans), because they assume you only like him for being a pretty white boy.
…most of the people judging don’t even like to admit Loki isn’t cis or straight, so…
my I wouldn’t piss on them if they were on fire non-fave:
*shrugging motion*
my I didn’t care about them either way at first but the fandom makes such a big deal about them now I can’t stand them non-fave:
T*mmy. I sometimes have trouble choosing an answer for this question but not for YA. TImmy used to be one of my faves and I ended up having his name blacklisted because the fandom is insufferable. It’s calmed down enough that I now just have his ships blacklisted, but… yeah.
my I could take them or leave them kinda non-fave:
Eli. I wish I could care about him more, but V1 doesn’t do much for me in regards to him (I love him in the event comics, tbh), and Marvel’s been dropping the ball ever since. He almost got the Black Cap role that ended up going to Sam Wilson, which would have been amazing, and is the reason he wasn’t in V2, but like??? IDK bring Eli back so I can care about him.
my I will go down with this ship and I won’t put my hands up and surrender, there will be no white flag above my door. I’m in love and always will be fave ship:
NOHKATE
Listen, I’ve written multiple 10k+ one-shots about this ship. I will continue to do so, even if nobody else is actually invested enough in these dorks anymore to do the same.
I’m not really the captain of the ship or anything to that effect, but I’m damn well going down with it and you can judge me all you won’t.
my dirtybadwrong fave ship:
*vague shrugging* I was into Teddy/Billy/Loki for a while, which most of the fandom would say is wrong? But I’m not that invested anymore.
I do love LokiDavid and I’m sure there are plenty of people judging me for that.
my they’re cute together and I dig them but I’m not all that terribly invested kinda fave ship:
Cassie/Jonas, Wickling (they’re adorable but they’re so STABLE that it’s boring to write), EliKate, EliTommy, ThinkFast, etc.
my I didn’t care about this ship either way at first but the fandom makes such a big deal about it now I can’t stand it non-fave ship:
T*mmyKate, Nohmmy, and Amer*Kate are all in this position for me. I can handle the last one a little better, though. I wrote the girl gay for a Secret Santa last year, even.
my MAKE IT STOP non-fave ship:
There are people who ship twincest and… no. Just no.
