this weekend i stripped paint from an old nightstand and put three coats of matte poly on the shelves for the future pots/pans holder
#now it just needs the hooks and it's ready to go#the nightstand i'll need to sand next time i'm back at my parents'#mil painted it black (badly) for my wife's childhood bedroom over ten years ago and it was always kind of sticky to the touch#there's also a non-zero chance the original coat of paint was lead because it was from mil's parent's house#and they painted it in the 70s - i think it was prefab customizable piece#then i'll use some wood filler to even out the places where it's chipped#and i think we'll have to paint it because the grain of the wood isn't very attractive#and the black paint really did a number on certain parts of it#but sanded and painted and sealed correctly it'll be a very nice piece
