you're not at all! honestly I feel like a broken record saying "thank you for your contribution!" though like I genuinely appreciate hearing from peoples perspective.
Oh my god, the childish thing. I don't onow if you are aware of the story about the woman who got really emotional when she saw Goofy at the parks, but that caused some crazy discourse. People on tiktok and twitter and stuff were saying that something needed to be done to people like her and all these nasty things about "Disney Adults" when her dad had died and that was his favorite character. Even the people who brought up her possibly being ND did so in a demeaning way like she wasn' smart enough to enjoy other media. I don't think she should have had to say her dad died to deserve decency but that's a huge thing and I see it online a decent amount. The way people draw the line for what's an "acceptable" interest is obscene. Like not everyone wants to talk about the big game! If someone talked about football the way they talked about people liking cartoons or anything else childish they would get obscene backlash!
With the cultural thing it makes me frustrated bc.. ok I dunno the word to even use as an identifier because I feel like no matter what identifier you use as an American it's loaded, but I am of latin American decent. Not colombian, mind you, but my grandparents grew up there and I have family that still lives there. I would say my grandparents especially are pretty religious and I have never seen anything to the extent of Bruno. Honestly with the whole "is this a stim or compulsion or is he just Latino"debte earlier what surprised me is that there were people unaware of that significance!I think you can awkwnowledge both though yanno? Like Bruno can have his beliefs and OCD. They aren't mutually exclusive.
Like I love this fandom but my goodness has this been a ride to make certain ovservations. I understand that people come from many walks of life, but we should also listen and learn fron eachither too. I know I have learned a LOT about a few different things in the last few months. Thankfully a lot of the bad takes I have seen have been on other social media, though some of the stuff on tumblr has warranted a raised eyebrow.
If you don't like a character being headcannoned as ND because it leads to infantization, maybe think of how you view ND people.
