Throwback question: What's your favorite thing about Dabi?
I feel Dabi is a beautifully tragic and very compelling villain.
Is the "Throwback question" part a slight against me not answering this question when it was submitted months ago? When I don't answer questions, it's usually because I'm busy and have many asks waiting, too - nothing personal. I do have a full life offline tumblr. I love getting asks and read all of them!
I'll be honest, I have a preference for a specific type of character, haha. Soul Eater Evans (Soul Eater), Yamato Ishida (Digimon), Ruki (Digimon), Shadow the Hedgehog... all edgelords who, despite their facade of indifference, are softies actually brimming with complex feelings and thoughts. Dabi is like that, too.
Truly, Dabi is definitely one of my top characters. His burn scars intrigued me right away, as I've always wanted to work in a burn unit. His style really appeals to me, too - his blue fire, the black clothing, the boots, the long jacket, the piercings, the complete emo vibe. Overall, though, I just really admire his personality and who he is. I appreciate his sassiness, his drive, his dedication, his fiery spirit. I love that he dances or cries when he's feeling an intense emotion. I love him at all ages we've seen him, especially at 4-year-old pouty Touya and 13-year-old pre-teen menace Touya.
I love that Dabi is angry. I love that he's a "bad victim" who was humanized and sympathized in the story. I haven't seen that often in media. I love that he sought justice for his younger self. I LOVE that beneath all that anger is love: wanting to give love but being unable to because the recipient wasn't in the position to receive it, wanting love but not receiving it because the recipient couldn't give it because of his own flaws.
I love that Dabi's relatable to me - the eldest sibling with a lot of pressure to indirectly fix the family, someone who wanted to be seen and valued and is angry, angry, angry, angry because his family didn't understand that he was trying his best, too. I love that his whole reason for doing everything is his family, as that's also a dynamic I'm drawn toward in fiction.
Mostly, I love that he's full of rage that the world is so fucked up and that he's burning with the injustice of it all. I am, too.

I don't know if you've been asked this before but what shows or pieces of media influenced/inspired Beanstalked? I know you've mentioned Gitter and Guilt stemmed from your love of Tokyo mew mew and other cool superhero stuff (I saw those mha ocs!). But can you point to any specific shows or books that made you want to create that story in the first place, or changed it to where it is today since it's been rewritten?
FUCK YEAH A BEANSTALKED QUESTION
I think the series at the top of the list that deeply inspired Beanstalked are Cats Don't Dance, Atlantis: The Lost Empire, Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas, Happily Ever After: Fairy Tales for Every Child, Bleach, D. Gray Man, Soul Eater, and Kingdom Hearts,
Cats Don't Dance's entire thing of being about an outcasted group of characters forcing their way into the spotlight, or basically finding their own happiness, def influenced the main motivation for a lot of the main characters in Beanstalked going against the status quo of both their stories and the depressing situation of the world they live in.
Atlantis: The Lost Empire and Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas have so many elements in them that imprinted on me as a kid. Like both movies having a crew of side characters that have very vibrant personalities that lead to them becoming sort of found families. And the latter having a villainess that quite literally is the reason I made Nevermore the way she is.
Happily Ever After: Fairy Tales for Every Child was basically my first exposure to fairy tale retellings with more diversity and was basically the extra motivation to make basically everyone in Beanstalked POC. And I'd say it being a series made in the 90s def impacted some of the vibes I resort to when looking for Beanstalked inspiration stuff like music instead of the expected medival fantasy.
D. Gray Man, Bleach, Fullmetal Alchemist and Soul Eater all had an influence on me deciding to make Marchens unique magical weapons that range from being a typical weapon like a sword to more extreme instances like a whole element or even a location. Plus them all having a large cast of characters was what led to me deciding to have a big cast for Beanstalked.
I know for certain that the Noahs and Arrancars are what made me go for having the Big Bads in Beanstalked be the typical "we sit at a big ass table and plot evil things" but with some coworker banter tossed in like they do in D. Gray Man, which remains like...the only anime where I've seen the villains poke at each other like a family (granted they kinda are but this is about Beanstalked and not a very underrated manga series so lemme refocus).
And Kingdom Hearts will always be one of my favorite vibes just because of how cool the Heartless looked as monster designs. They definitely are what made me think of how fun it'd be to make the ink monsters in Beanstalked parasitic creatures that adapt to their surroundings. And the "book rooms" in Beanstalked are greatly inspired by the opening tutorial level of Kingdom Hearts where you awake in a void on a stained glass platform.
Plus Traverse Town remains one of my favorite locations in all of gaming and is the direct influence and inspiration for Briar Patch being the hub of Beanstalked. I constantly listen to the music whenever I have to design Briar Patch stuff.

hello! for the "firsts" ask game, how about 15, A, and 🤩? 😊
AWW HI LUMI <3333 Thank you for stopping by!!
✑ First thing they remember feeling proud of
[quiet sniffling] Vigdis . . . crafting her first bow . . . . and showing it to her dad . . . . . . [descends into wailing sobs]
✑ First meeting
I actually laughed and. Who better to tell you about it than them? The woman groaned as she folded her arms, her eyes still squeezed shut. “Where is . . . Who sent you here?” Vigdis hesitated. An endless stream of questions barraged her mind. Was this what the vampires had been looking for? Why was she trapped here? Better yet—who put her here? And what was she? “Who were you expecting?” the hunter finally asked, her tone cold with suspicion. The woman’s eyes fluttered open. Vigdis instantly caught the tell-tale persimmon hue of her eyes and unsheathed her sword—but before she could strike, a bright green light burst from the brunette’s hand. Vigdis’ entire body became rigid, unable to move. She clenched her teeth when she realised that a paralysis spell had been cast on her and rendered any physical resistance futile. “You’re definitely not one of my father’s little acolytes,” the vampire stated blandly. “Who are you? What do you want?” “I should be asking you that,” Vigdis spat. The woman’s dark eyebrows furrowed. “I don’t want to hurt you, if that’s what you’re implying.” “You fucking paralysed me!” “You were going to kill me!” The woman sighed and rubbed her temples. The tense silence persisted between them for several moments before the woman sighed again. “Alright, look.” She gingerly placed a hand on her hip. “I’ll answer your questions if you answer mine.” [Petrichor, Chapter II: An Unexpected Introduction]
✑ First big inspiration for writing (an author? a piece of media? a plot idea?)
Oh man. I think it was Percy Jackson that REALLY got me into writing. Mostly because I had two friends that I roleplayed every day with. Funny thing was we just made our own characters and filled the universe with them, completely ignoring Percy and Co. Then after that it was . . . what did I write for next. Soul Eater, maybe?? After trying my hand at lots of original stuff, of course. My Creepypasta phase really sealed my writing fate, though. Basically, I'm inspired by the things I love a lot, it simply cannot be helped dlfkgjlkdjgf. But yeah it was probably Percy Jackson in terms of what was first, although I was reading anything and everything I could get my hands on at that age. YAY FOR READING

Fuck it, Simon Belmont, because why not you basically themed your blog after him
You don’t have any specific numbers, so I’m just answering every question >:3c mwahahaha—
1. “Why do you like this character”:
A lot of reasons!!! First off, most of his games are super fun and some of my favorite platformers just in general. I replay CV1, Simon’s Quest, and SCV4 most often cause they’re a real joy to play! I also absolutely LOVE Simon’s story, I’ve considered making comics about it if I could ever get out of recent art block whoops, even though I’ve seen many people say he doesn’t have one (´TωT`). His designs are really cool, he’s got great music in his games, there’s just a lot to love and I’ll explain more in detail in other questions.
2. “Favorite canon thing?”
I really like the concept that he looks up to Christopher as this legendary hero and then ends up considered the same kind of legendary hero by Juste and others after him. It’s pretty ironic, kinda bittersweet, especially after being hated for so long. Castlevania loves its cycles like that. Also just Simon’s Quest in general, I love that game.
3. “Least favorite canon thing?”
Ooo that’s very hard. There’s kinda a lot of things about him that aren’t explained or confirmed, especially personality wise, but I kinda like that in a way cause it leaves room for interpretation and whatnot. Idk hmmm. I’m gonna go with Grimoire of Souls in general. I had some hopes for it, but it ended up being kinda lame. A lot of the characterization was weird and don’t even start me on things like the Cursed Whip theory being in there 💀. So I just choose to ignore it and not consider it canon.
4. “If you could put this character in another media, what would it be?”
I have thought about drawing him as if he was a character in other series for ages lol. I’ve already drawn him as a Pokémon trainer, I’ve thought about drawing Castlevania and Soul Eater crossovers before, and I tried drawing him in the style of Resident Evil 1 but could not get the art style down. Idk put him in Fortnite or something that’d be funny we already got Solid Snake so Konami has been in talks with them I guess X,,,,,,,,,,D
5. “What’s the first song that comes to mind when you think of them?”
Probably either Simon’s Theme (of course lol) or Bloody Tears, but I do wanna mention that I have a YouTube playlist of songs I wanna make Simon animations with eventually (alas animation is HARD).
6. “What’s something you have in common with the character?”
Mostly negative things unfortunately d(;w; ). Like self comparison, doubt in my own abilities, trouble making and keeping friends, etc etc. Although a lot of these are based on assumptions and interpretations, as a lot of him usually is. Simon does have a really similar hair color to me on the NES box art tho so that’s cool.
7. “What’s something the fandom does with this character that you like?”
There’s a lot of really nice art of him!!! Usually portraits, but sometimes there’s other doodles and whatnot too :3. Cool fan redesigns too! I also have seen a lot of neat headcanons, a lot of which I’ve adopted. I also appreciate the Captain N reunion stuff for the most part, it’s pretty wholesome.
8. “What’s something the fandom does with this character that you don’t like?”
I’ve seen a lot of comics, especially around when Smash Bros Ultimate came out, that were really… weird. I think all of them could kinda be boiled down to “old = bad” in the way that the artists probably just found out he was from the 1600s and then decided to make him the Boomer to Richter’s Gen Z for whatever reason (ya know despite Richter being from the 1700s but anyway). Simon would either be the jerk in the situation and/or the butt of the joke. I don’t think that Simon would have any issue with any of the female characters’ outfits let alone start harassing them for it. I saw some comics that made fun of him for not speaking very much in some genuinely disgusting ways too. Like making him not able to read or practically just the generic caveman stereotype. Especially in cases where the artist would depict other silent NES protagonists really nicely after making Simon out to be a complete idiot and asshole. There was also the trend of making him generally be all “oh no witchcraft!!!!!!!!!! What sin!!!!!!! The horror!!!!!!!!” about like anything and everything. I guess a lot of this comes from Smash Bros fans not usually being fans of Castlevania, but I’ve seen it in the Castlevania fandom too just less frequently. There’s also the “Simon has no story” thing oof. I’ve seen people tell people to skip his games or play fan games instead before :(
9. “Could you be roommates with this character?”
Realistically, no, my room is too small for another person :(. If that wasn’t an issue, then yeah probably :).
10. “Could you be best friends with this character?”
I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO—
11. “Would you date this character?”
No, he’s probably married, generally feels more like a bestie, and I’m aroace lol
12. “What headcanon do you have for this character?”
Too many oh my god. I think he probably makes things. That’s a very vague sentence lol, but think like armor, knives, general woodworking, all his necklaces and headbands and stuff, etc. He generally seems like he keeps to himself and lives mostly alone, so I can see him doing all that by himself. He keeps some bones and teeth of things he hunts most of the time. A lot of people have him as the most super Christian of the family, but I see him as like Christian but really not organized or strict about it, if that makes sense? I’ve seen someone else describe the Belmonts as like “Christopagan” before and yeah I think that fits. Idk why but I have consistently drawn him with his cross necklace in his mouth sometimes. I headcanon him as semiverbal (I think that’s the correct term for it, basically like inbetween speaking and nonspeaking). I like to think he’s like really average height for the 1600s cause he’s about as tall as other townspeople and skeletons and stuff. Which is funny cause that’d make him like 5’5-5’7 ish and that’s kinda short in modern day lol. And I guess that makes his 8bit sprite being used all the time make more sense XD. I have way more, I didn’t even get into Simon’s Quest related ones, but I don’t wanna make this too long aaaaaaaaaaaa
13. “What’s an emoticon that reminds you of the character or you think they’d use a lot?”
Ok this is funny cause I actually do have one for this and it’s got context. It’s the “:3”. So I was watching a bunch of people’s playthroughs one night cause I was bored and ran into a channel with a toooooon of speedruns of maps from Harmony of Despair. Whenever they’d get to a boss battle they’d use the typing feature just to go “hi” with a different cutesy emoticon every time, but when they got to Dracula they specifically went for the “hi :3” and then went “oh no :(“ when Dracula started attacking and now that’s the way I think he’d text I guess.
14. “Assign a fashion aesthetic to this character”
How does one properly explain how much this guy slays in one aesthetic term—
15. “What’s your favorite ship for this character?”
Oooooo, in canon probably like his wife (Selena) and/or the Mysterious Woman (who could be the same character depending on what theories you go by), but outside of that Simon Belmont x Getsu Fuma and I can’t even explain exactly why, but it’s pretty cute.
16. “What’s your least favorite ship for this character?”
Any BelmontXBelmont shipping ugh, it’s unfortunately really common on some places… also the whole Lucas or Pit or whatever other child character thing the smash bros fandom had ugh. I guess I also just don’t see the appeal of shipping any of the Belmonts with Dracula.
17. “What’s a ship you don’t hate but it’s not your favorite?”
I’ve also seen people ship him with Solid Snake, Palutena, or Bayonetta before. Ummm he doesn’t really have a lot of other characters he’s shipped with tbh. Idk I saw someone ship him with one of the priests from Simon’s Quest once.
18. “Relationship in canon you admire?”
Unfortunately he doesn’t really talk to people enough in game to form canon relationships 😔
19. “Relationship in canon you don’t like?”
I don’t even know if I can answer this one for the same reasons as the above 💀💀💀. I guess the townspeople hating the hell out of him, but I don’t hate that cause it’s kinda integral to the plot???? Yeah idk lol
20. “What character is the ideal best friend for this character?”
Simon and Shanoa would get along a lot I think. Sara too. Hmmmm… I think he and Alucard would probably also be good friends. Christopher too for many reasons. Simon just really needs friends my poor dude is out here in Dracula’s Castle and the Romanian countryside after being cursed alone like this poor guy :’(
21. “If you’re a fic writer, what’s your favorite thing to do when writing this character? What’s something you don’t like?”
I have not written much at all, however what small comics I have done I looooove to make sure to sprinkle in whatever symbols he has in the games into it. He has a lot of cool things ranging from like rose thorns to The Hanged Man card and a lot of them end up meaning things like martyrdom and whatnot idk I made a post about it a while ago :3. I also like specifically Simon’s Quest speculation stuff, like what if scenarios for the vague, left open spots of it. If it’s not something super angsty or lore heavy, it’s usually just wholesome character interactions or doodling him being comforted by Christopher or Trevor cause I was sad or something lol. As far as things I don’t like writing uh idk that’s hard, maybe just any kind of filler scenes cause I’m not very good at those oof. Dialogue is hard too 💀💀💀
22. “If you’re a fic reader, what’s something you like/don’t like to see in fics?”
I’ve mentioned a lot of things I don’t like seeing in uh question 8, but things I do like is when people really try to go full horror with him. I’ve seen some Simon’s Quest fics (sadly there’s very few :’3) that really try to get that same feeling of anxiousness and dread the game does and I love that honestly. It’s a really dark story in the series! I also saw one that went psychological horror with it with him kinda losing himself a little at night it’s just ough it’s cool :D! Simon is a horror protagonist! Make him afraid!!!
23. “Favorite picture of this character?”
Again, too many!!! X3
24. “What other character from another fandom reminds you of them?”
Not from fandoms I am in (yet, hopefully I’ll get into these), but Ragnvaldr from Fear and Hunger I’ve heard is just directly inspired by him and Alfred from Bloodborne also, to me, seems heavily inspired by him. The whole Vilebloods section seems very Castlevania inspired tbh. From other fandoms I’m in, that’s hard to say, there’s not really any I don’t think.
25. “What was your first impression of this character, is it the same as now?”
Well I got into Castlevania through Smash Bros and at first was completely indifferent about him, he was just kinda fun to play as. Then Richter got me to play SotN and actually get into the series more. I had no idea I had SotN on XBOX360 for a long time, but that made it pretty easy to start playing. And now I am absolutely hooked and Simon is my favorite character so uh yeah X3.
26. “Freebie!”
I guess I just say anything? Ok, I am currently half trying to cosplay Simon’s Simon’s Quest design rn! I have like everything but the armor, but I’ll have to wait a while to be able to get materials for it oof. But yeah :). Hopefully that works out.
Ok yeah that’s pretty dang long wow, but yeah, thanks for the ask!!!! I am happy to rant about Simon anytime :3
#castlevania#castlevania games#text post#simon belmont#asks#ask game#yay! Simon :3#I feel like I could probably go on even longer with other questions but uh yeah#more reason to do more of these ask things they’re fun :)#incoherent rambling#idk if I should put a cut somewhere in this cause WOW that is LONG jesus#hmmmmmmmmmmmmm idk#I should post some of the Simon and Fuma art I have sometime when I’m not feeling weirdly self conscious about it—

Hi! I watch/read a lot of anime/manga, so I figured I'd discuss the filler thing with you! Hope that's ok!
That's actually a very good point, I never thought about it that way! I think people disregard filler and don't consider it a regular addition to an adaptation, like it happens in other movies or shows, because in most cases its point is not to add anything worthwhile to the story, but to gain some time to not catch up to the manga.
So then, particularly in longer anime such as Naruto or Bleach, there are these entire arcs that completely deviate from the story and are ultimately pointless and stick out like a sore thumb. Whatever happened there is never brought back again, and its characters are promptly discarded as soon as the arc ends. This is something that doesn't happen in adaptations in other media (as far as I know), and what makes filler such an unique thing to anime.
Then there are cases where from some point on the anime completely deviates from its source material, such as Fullmetal Alchemist 2003 or Soul Eater. People don't refer to its original content as filler anymore because there's an understanding that they're doing their own thing.
I think what ultimately draws the line on what's filler or not it's its purpose and of course this is not a black or white thing, or matter of quality. Most people would agree that FMA 2003's ending is garbage, and the episode in DBZ where Goku and Piccolo learn how to drive is incredible. But then in cases where filler adds to and elevates the source material, can we still refer to it as such? That's a more difficult question! But I think we can all agree that Naruto's filler is pretty pointless, it made the show near unwatchable, and it's as fillery as filler can get. It's there to fill time and nothing else, no one's happy that it exists but alas it's there.
Sorry this got so long haha
Disclaimer: I have a migraine so this is very rambly and not the response such a well thought-out explanation deserves.
Thank you so much for your perspective I really appreciate it. (Also I feel like my tags were misleading. I watch a lot of anime I'm just like... Sitting in the corner doing my own thing bc I find active participation in fandom tends to be bad for my specific combination of issues)
But my biggest toxic trait is I fucking love like... 60% of the Naruto filler arcs (they're the only time my most beloved shino gets any real airtime and he DESERVES IT)
BUT based on every conversation I've had with my friends about this, this is because I have very different... Requirements when it comes to the stuff I like. The filler arcs are silly and fun and I enjoy them immensely (the only one I couldn't watch to completion was the robot Naruto one). Have a lot of complicated feelings about them though. Like The Three-Tails' Appearance is great because shino gets to be competent and Lee is a sweetheart and Sakura and Ino get to work together... But if that adorable child plays that leaf whistle one more time I may cry (guess where I'm up to in my rewatch)
Bleach filler is so much worse. Bount arc wasn't even enjoyable 0/10 couldn't even be saved by hot villains. I watched all but one arc of Naruto. I did not grant the same to bleach, it burned me too many times.
DBZ filler is complicated though because a lot of the filler has canon stuff sprinkled in which I think is a more seamless way to buy time - sprinkling filler into existing arcs rather than having just... 76 episodes of near continuous filler NARUTO. I understand the constraints were different though.
(fma:b is one of my favourites and I sort of just pretend 2003 didn't happen. It has some good points but I just can't. The author told them to go with their hearts and I respect that they committed but results were questionable)
Point is I think it's really interesting to see how other people interact with media because I'm mostly just sitting here like "are my favourite little guys talking? Brilliant. 10/10 you're doing great sweetie etc" im stressed out by literally everything else, a few episodes of some kids trying to unmask their teacher is enrichment in my enclosure

Do you think any readings of black blood as some metaphor for STD's could have been intended by Ohkubo or it's just all in the heads of fans that want to make childrens media "dark and mature" and or edgy trolls that just want to be abrasive for the sake of it
Oh, I’m going to go off the rails towards the end of this post.
Let’s start with the actual answer to your question before my rant kicks in.
I can’t remember encountering this reading, or having made that interpretation (although it wouldn’t surprise me, after 10 years with this fan blog, with thousands of reblogs and original posts, that there isn’t a post where I or someone else didn’t bring it up).
I think what mitigates that reading for me is that the Black Blood, while passing along the same condition from Crona to Soul, is presented as passing along a more mental condition of “madness” (admittedly, Ohkubo’s portrayal of madness in his fiction is not directly aligned with how it works in our world--seeing as he is writing magical fiction, not something strictly realistic).
So, I’m too distracted by “shared mental condition due to an ‘infection’” before I think, “Um, is this tapping into something problematic where Ohkubo is not portraying STIs well?”
I can’t figure out an author’s intention (even though enough of my replies today are trying to do that). But what I see from Ohkubo, I don’t see enough other context clues to make me think he intended for the Black Blood to be read as a metaphor about STIs. Given how the manga wraps up with the entire world under a form of madness, I don’t see how that speaks to anything about STIs.
And now, the rants--and neither one is in response to your question, they are just tangential and on my mind given *waves hands at how fucked up everything is right now in this real world we’re stuck in*.
(And before anyone says, “Ohkubo’s Chapter 113 predicted COVID,” no, he fucking didn’t. If anything, at best, I could say, between how Soul Eater ends with everyone just tolerating the Madness of Boobs, and how Fire Force ends with Shinra forcing onto everyone else a lack of concern about dying, this is more like Ohkubo darkly anticipating, by logic or cynicism, how humans would create to something: they would just accept the problem and, rather than avoid it or try to fix it, just normalize it, because they are too lazy and heartless to give a shit about the problems they are putting onto other people and would rather go without a vaccine or a mask or social distancing--and yes, I am ranting now, because goddamn it, this shit has gone on for years and has compromised the health and livelihood of so many people who can’t afford the financial, mental, emotional, and physical costs.)
I don’t think it’s only that fans want to make it dark or mature or want to be edgy trolls--that’s all part of it. But some fans just want dark humor to let the tension out, to work through their fears or traumas. I would not tell someone dealing with an STI that they can’t crack this kind of a dark joke--they’re dealing with this problem, I’m not, let them speak about their own experience, even if I don’t agree with the interpretation or find the experience to be in such contrast with the tone of the original work. Same if someone did indeed want to read this as similar to COVID (even as my rant above, more so in anger at the “___ predicted ___” memes that just piss me off, shows I’m not a fan of that reading, either).
And I would quibble over whether we can put Soul Eater into children’s media--but that’s a discussion about how much of the series can definitely be handled by children, how norms and demographics differ between Japanese audiences and audiences in other settings, how there are children who can handle something thought not to be for their age group and some children can’t, so the entire demarcation of something as “children’s media” and something as “adult’s media” has more to do with reception and engagement that varies person to person rather than a necessarily blanket category.
(...Almost like why book bans going on in my fucking country are fucking tiresome: you can leave a book in a library, you can guide a kid to check out that book or not to check out that book, but removing the book from the shelves is the fucking wrong move because now a kid who can handle that book or even adults who also are at that library now can’t get it. It’s also why it's foolish to ban books that are LGBTQA+, or perceived or promoted as such--first of all for the reasons I said above about leaving books there to find their audience, but also because you’re acting as if “LGBTQA+” is synonymous with “adult” when no it fucking is not and when you’re acting like a child can’t be LGBTQA+ when we have seen repeatedly yes they fucking can.)

About me and a DNI
Also everything is in bold and colored because I have a hard time reading it otherwise!
I'm Bisexual, Nonbinary and according to the government: crippled
I have a heart defect specifically! I'm open to questions if anyones curious 🥰
My favoritism of characters can change from day to day to year to year, its dependent on how well I'm doing mentally... lol. Also!!!!! Just because I'm not obsessing over a certain character at the moment does not mean I don't want to talk about them!!!!
When I reblog, I typically say what ever I'm thinking in the tags! If I don't reblog your work, its nothing personal, I do try to reblog everything I like to help boost others but sometimes I'm sleepy and forget!
Here's some things about my blog

Did you heard about that fucking drama around the Suitable Boy series, where a muslim guy kissed a hindu girl?
Yes I did. It's a bit frustrating reading about Hindu nationalists who suffering in midlife crisis, isn't it?
I think I can't put too much good words to the side of Hindu nationalists (nor of anyone’s who thinking in the same, extreme, aggressive way), because I'm a vessel of love and acceptance. I enjoy finding beauty in innocent, unselfish love.
All right, I’m not want to dig into deep in religion stuffs because it’s a very huge topic, but... we still have things to mention.
It’s all about the bussiness.
With that being said, lot of religions do the same, but most of them got turned inside out by the sick elite and politics. Even if we know that religion should not be affected by politics or being used for financial, selfish deeds, yet it happens, and it is not the devilish-side of the religion, but those who attempt to use it.
This is a fatal vortex from which it is difficult to get out, and which brings only hate and destruction over our head, because this manipulation itself (to be effective) brings dissension, disrespect, degradation, intolerance, rejection among others, and these creates fear and hate. This two emotion is the most effective “tool” with you can control people by these. You just have to plant it into them, and it will blooms because people will spread it by themselves (bad news that it’s easier to start spread it than to curb it). The problem is, that for these sick people, is just a bussiness, and nothing more.
We have to overcome these emotions, which they have been trying to pump into us since we were born. Where and how should we approach this fight at all? Well, there is an important question before our first step.
Who are we then?
Some people says that: - I am XY, and I have a soul. But I always says: - I am a soul, and I have a body.
This is a very huge difference between the two perspective, and believe me when I say, if you are able to see yourself and everyone else as a soul, then you have a key to how can you wash away the unneccessary illusions and categorization, and get closer to your true being and to others’.
Don’t get me wrong! It’s not about ignoring the material, it’s about keeping in mind who you are, and who are you NOT. It’s about don’t being lost only in the material, but keep remember the the other side of the truth. This comes handy in several situations, for instance, when people around you starts to offending, expel, harassing, stigmatizing you and trying to divert you from your goals, happiness.
Are you a muslim? *Boom* stigmatized Are you a christian? *Boom* stigmatized Are you black? *Boom* stigmatized Are you white? *Boom* stigmatized Are you mixed? *Boom* stigmatized Are you female? *Boom* stigmatized Are you a male? *Boom* stigmatized Are you homosexual? *Boom* stigmatized Are you bisexual? *Boom* stigmatized Are you vegetarian? *Boon* stigmatized Are you meat eater? *Boon* stigmatized Are you struggle with financial problems? *Boom* stigmatized Are you having XY job? *Boom* stigmatized
Let me ask then: Can you still see that poor SENTINENT being under this pile of crap!?
Of course you can’t. It’s easier to focus on stigmas and see those instead of the person who getting buried by it, while completely forgetting about him/her; who is still breathing, his/her heart still beats, and feels, in every damned second.
People don’t want to see the sentinent, transcendental being in others (and often forgetting about their true identity as well - now this is an another reason why they pick this side), but insteand they are using labels to categorize others and based on those, decide their “value”, seeing what the other person is worthy, and with these, they’re attempting to raise themselves above others, making themselves privileged and give themselves more rights over different things. But at the end, it’s all just illusions, weak attempts to avoiding to watch into the mirror, and as long as they can keep kicking others watching the ground where their victim is laying, they don’t have to think of themselves, nor reach the mirror of their gaze, and face the truth.
Why people feel the "needs" of hurting others?
I belive that the person who is healthy in mind, in terms of emotions and such, will never attempt to hurt others. It means that most of them (not all of them) are broken, and suffers - and to escape from this suffer, they spending their time with hurting others, and keep their focus on them instead (which is still NOT a good excuse of what they are actually doing with other people at all and it’ll never be) - this is what the elite and politics want to ride, and use, and took away everything from us to keep away people from their true self; because knowing it can bring changes. Positive changes, which can not produce money, but true value instead.
Religion originally brings love, peace and respect. It’s a great guide for a happy life. It brings down walls and borders by the power and purity of it. Be who you are, no matter where are you from, what is your identity and such, you have the right to practice any religion freely, it’s about spiritual teachings that cannot be stolen, nor owned by anyone and kept away from others by what-tf-ever reason (if a person think it in different way, he already lost the meaning of it and failed in several ways). But...
...love and respect are not a good bussiness (or at least, not in this way, it is not uncommon for many companies and organizations to getting more money by sympathy, although there is no sincere love behind their movement). They have to change, pollute one of the richest source of love, to spread hate and rejection, fear by it. Now this smells like a good business to me, huh?
It is, but the sad fact that even those who try to handle and practice their religion well, often get lost in not only these fabricated bullshits and set-up stages (what is going on around the muslim religion and terrorist activities for instance, but christianity could be an another good example for several reasons), but because of their own ego and imperfections, bad habits, often contradicting their religion's teachings.
It means that simply appearing in the media in a wrong (and often false) way is not the only reason for a misjudgment of a religion or a group of people who devoted to it. All of us build up our own reality based on our experiences, and probably all of us know people who practicing different religions, and these people's behavior might affect our view of their religions as well. Sometimes, in a wrong way, even if the person didn't even approached- and practiced the religion and it’s teachings well.
Word to the wise:
Personally, I belive that as long as your love and respect towards the other person is honest and pure, you make no mistake or disrespect what should scream for your punishment, and I think in most of these cases (like this one you asked about dear Anonymous) the ego is more hurt than the religion was/would ever.
Lot of people have struggle with practicing and even understanding their own religion well sometimes, which can bring up a question? Are they "worthy" of practice that religion? And I’d say yes, they are despite of that.
I'm sure that as long as you do it from your pure heart and devotion, you are, and if your path meets with an another person's path, who follows a different religion, as long as your love and respect still honest, neither of you failed in what you believe.
And please, be nice with each other! Don't play an "eye for eye" game out there, in with you cut off X’s, and Y will cut off yours, because this is what people doing day by day, attempting to take away everything from each other.
Are you want to make the whole world blind?

Blazblue rewrites Part 1: The Age of Origin and beginning of the Looping World.
(put this on my Reddit may as well put it here)
As we all know, the Blazblue series is one of the most convoluted and over-complicated pieces of media ever. Mainly due to its quantum physics talk and very chuuni dialogue and a lack of good explanation for a lot of points. Naturally, one good thing about being a fan is that through the power of hindsight we can look at the entire series and basically fix what we think was messed up. Of course, we have this freedom since we are usually individual people, don't have a massive writing staff and marketing we need to appeal to, and pretty much the entire skeleton and pieces are there, they just need to be rearranged and/or be tweaked a bit.
I remember getting into Blazblue around the end of high school/beginning of college, almost 5 years ago. I thought the setting was neat and I am into anime action BS. Of course, the story was bonkers and made no sense until I started looking deeper but the main thing that has bugged me were the characters. There is just so much Bullshit that the characters do and brush off that just irritates me, especially when it comes to Ragna. This series has made me rethink the meaning of life, of showing kindness to people, or if "doing things because it's right" is a good enough excuse, how much should you desire your own happiness? All sorts of existential questions that Blazblue has made me think, not from the plot, but just from the BS character interactions.
If you check out my Ragna the Bloodedge tag, or have just been following me for a while, you will see/know how much I will defend this guy to the fucking grave because of all the bullshit that this guy is expected to take and deal with and it being seen as"inspiring" or "heroic" when it is really just sad to me. It isn't me liking the character, it is just a massive amount of pity and feeling sorry for him, to the point where I kind of have a massive bias towards him and end up making him an all-powerful unstable badass in most of my fic ideas with him. But I am getting ahead of myself.
I wanted to lay out my ideas for how I would make a Blazblue rewrite. If anyone wants to use these in their own fanfic, feel free. I don't give a shit about credit.
Starting with the timeline, we have the XBlaze series, Bloodedge Experience, and the core C-Series (ft.
the Phase Shift Novels, and Remix/Variable Heart Manga). In the actual story these are all separate “Possibilities”, or Timelines/Universes. That is dumb and I think that we can tweak things to make it all one linear timeline.
XBlaze takes place in the year 2050, 50 years before the Dark War is stated to begin, and 149-150 years before the main games start. This is plenty of time to make things different. We know from the backstory that Takamagahara, the god-supercomputer that mankind made, was not completed in this possibility due to Touya’s mother iirc. In my idea, all this does is delay the inevitable, Takamagahara will be made, just at a later date now. (edit) There is also the Mitsurugi agency, which was kind of behind the Wadatsumi incident in XBlaze's backstory. With their connections to the Mage's Guild, the Amanohokosaka Clan, and their desire to get the Azure, we could say that this is the agency that discovered the Susanoo, the Boundary, and did most of these experiments to the Prime Fields.
I do not know the exact year when Bloodedge Experience takes place, but I am going to estimate around 10-15+ years from XBlaze, putting it at 2060-2065+, since they do mention Mei as the head/leader of the Amanohokosaka Clan. I am not too sure what the branching-off point is here, Valkenhayn mentions Clavis having killed Naoto in the core C-Series Possibility so maybe it was during their initial meeting. But is Naoto surviving gonna change that much? The only other detail that would need addressing would be Raquel’s relationship with Rachel. According to the wiki bio “Raquel was created when a user of Soul Eater went havoc and killed hundreds upon thousands of people. Clavis Alucard stopped the user and killed them, but was forced to take the lives of 128,932 people in order to do so. When this happened, he held an Embryo. Three years later, the Embryo became Raquel and she was born. Maybe sometime later Raquel could end up being killed or something and another Embryo results in Rachel. I mean we never see or hear mention of a mother, or maybe it’s some reincarnation thing? IDK. We see how stern Clavis was with Raquel, so maybe seeing his first “daughter” die he ends up spoiling the next one rotten, leading to the kind of haughty holier-than-thou Rabbit we know today.
However, all of this needs to be put in perspective of the Origin and Terumi. I may mess up some of the finer details.
The plot of Blazblue started when Susanoo ditched his body, the Susanoo Unit, and then mankind discovered it underground. They excavated it, dug deeper, and found a Cauldron which led to the Boundary, within which they found the Master Unit, the God Computer that would allow them to control reality, and beyond that, they found the Azure, basically the primordial absolute force of the Blazblue Universe. However, the Master Unit can only respond to something anthropomorphic/humanoid and humans can’t survive the Boundary. So they made the Prime Field Devices, Androids meant to go into the Boundary. Pretty weirdly specific criteria that results in robot girls but I don’t see how I can mess with this.
One of them manages to reach the Master Unit and upon touching it she gains the Eyes of the Azure which gives it the power of the Azure and basically becomes not only sentient, but basically a god. The Humanity, freaked out about her new free will and the power she now has, tosses her back into the Boundary. Within the Boundary, the PFD, the Origin as we know her, sees her “sister” units all being tortured. Most likely to break any souls they have so the scientists don’t have to deal with their “free will” getting in the way of their plans. Maybe to bring in Terumi telling Noel that they became weapons, other groups heard of the guys making the PFDs and them getting god power and obviously would be trying to stop them/take this power for themselves, so they decided to make the PFDs into mindless robo-soldiers to fight them off. Origin gets mad and ends up making all of them sentient. Probably by Observing them as sentient, like she sees all of these things “like her” so obviously they must be sentient or at least have the potential for sentience. Kind of like Jotaro going “It’s a similar type of Stand '' to DIO and then getting Time Stop.
Anyways now mankind is fighting these robot girls who want revenge for being treated like tools, all humanity sees is all these in-human weapons killing them for no reason, just because destroying is what a weapon does, and with the Master Unit’s Phenomenon Intervention, they can just rewrite all of their failures into victories. Mankind sees the Origin and the Master Unit as basically the same thing, an evil machine god. His leads into why the Origin and Amaterasu can’t just be separated so Ragna doesn’t have to sacrifice himself to stop the time loops, the world sees The Origin and Amaterasu as one, there is no distinction. This is also apparently the time period when Clavis Alucard helped mankind make the Izayoi, with its Immortal Breaker and ability to resist Observation to fight against the Origin and the PFDs. Ironic that it eventually became known as the prototype for the Lux Sanctus: Murakumo, but I’ll talk about that later.
So what does mankind do? Make a Black Beast to destroy it. I mean we are told to believe that a Black Beast is the result of Azure Grimoire (or just a piece of the Azure) + Murakumo Unit = either a Black Beast if the fusion is imperfect, and a powerful Kusanagi God Slayer is done right. But tell me, why the hell would they build ANOTHER Prime Field Device to fight the PFDs? I will be getting into the exact nature of Black Beasts later. Mankind is apparently cool with the Black Beast destroying the world because so long as they can get the Azure and plug it into Takamagahara, which is basically a manmade Master Unit supercomputer, they can just reset time. But due to a bug or something, the Master Unit stopped this and when the world was destroyed she just made a new one based on her memories. This is the world the characters live in now. And since the last thing she remembers about the world is the Black Beast and obviously she doesn’t want the world to hate and try to kill her, the Black Beast enters the world with everyone having no context to its existence and no other enemy to fight, leading to the Black Beast going from a weapon of Mutually Assured Destruction, to the new Ultimate Evil Enemy of the World.
A few things we need to take note of here.
XBlaze and Bloodedge Experience would need to take place during the Age of Origin, between mankind discovering the Boundary but before the Prime Field War starts. I mean the two things needed for that part to start would be Prime Fields and Takamagahara, and while there is Es who is sort of a PFD, you could simply say that her model isn’t suited for full Boundary Exploration. I know I am really glossing over the Embryo stuff about her but I haven’t seen XBlaze stuff in a while and I would need to find a way to connect it with the Embryo in Centralfiction.
Apparently, there was some off-screen war in which Hihiirokane (the Soul Cutting Sword protected by Jubei’s clan, used by his brother Tomonori to fight Terumi, then put in Clavis’ grave) was used to fight some enemy, “Outside of logic”. I have no idea what this is and it feels like something that shouldn’t be glossed over.
Mankind made a Black Beast on their side to get the Azure and fight the Master Unit, which A. means that in a weird way the Black Beast was sort of on mankind’s side at first before the Origin retconned it into being the destroyer, and B. mankind would have needed to make a Murakumo Unit to fight the Murakumos, knowing that the Origin is making them sentient and turn on them, which kind of feels like a dumb move. But again, I will get to this later.
This will all lead into the Looping World. Now, this is weird because of the main thing which the loop revolves around, The Black Beast. It is either A. as Terumi says in CS, a Cauldron that went batshit (which is precedent by the short story That Which Is Inherited where Sector Seven tries to smelt a Nox but everything goes tits up and a Black Beast forms from the Cauldron (no souls or prime field required), or B. a Time Displaced Ragna and Nu. The Black Beast is a Self-Observing weapon. Observation in Blazblue basically means “deciding if/how something exists” by Observing itself, the Black Beast declares its existence in this time period, which means that no matter what time paradoxical BS you may try to pull, it will always appear (Kind of reminds me of the Time Medallions Clockwork gives team Phantom in Danny Phantom). But a less mind-mushing way to look at it could simply be that, no matter what, this will always happen. Like, say the Assassination of Kennedy is Observed as an event that must ALWAYS happen, then even if you find and stop the sniper. He is gonna still die. Maybe there is another sniper, maybe the sniper gets a good hit on you and manages to make another shot down the road, but anyway you slice it, Kenedy gets shot. That event is permanently locked in history and no matter what you do, this event is inevitable.
But suggestion A is weird because it could either mean that 1. He is talking about the first Black Beast from the Age of Origin, or 2. Since that part of the story probably wasn’t written yet and they are talking about this specific Beast, he is talking about the Dark War Black Beast, in which case there actually was a bit of time before the time loops started, or at least the very first loop, so then there was a bit of time before shit went sideways.
Maybe the Origin didn’t make a Black Beast war and it was all Terumi’s idea. The world would’ve continued as normal but since Terumi hated the Master Unit and mankind wanted power, they tried to make a Kusanagi but it fucked up and made a Black Beast, but without a publicly known Prime Field War to justify it, mankind doesn't see this as a necessary evil which will get the Azure and then reset the world better for them, it’s just a big evil monster.
Okay, that is my interpretation of the Age of Origin for my Blazblue rewrite idea. Not many changes since this is all pretty self-contained and not much needs expanding on. Just make sure to justify some actions and connect the three timelines. I probably missed out on a lot of finer details but I think I got the broad strokes of it. Feel free to correct me.
Next time I will cover the Dark War and hopefully go into explaining how I would make the Powerset make a bit more sense (Ars Magus, Grimoires, Nox Nyctores, the Azure Grimoire, and the Black Beast).

I am the only one writing stuff in this fandom so I can do what I want uwu. I do ship them exclusively queerplatonically tho, I can’t imagine either of them having romantic or sexual feelings for each other. And I doubt we will get much more backstory on them then we already got (tho i am expecting we’ll get more from Suwa since his is more set up) but I’m just very interested in the time before the other vampires joined, the two of them would be all alone in a building full of humans. There is also the idea that Suwa was feral for a long time and we don’t know how he got out of it so I like to imagine Takeuchi figured smtng out, he’d be all over something like that. So I like to imagine the two of them simply finding home in each other as two things of same in the middle of a world they no longer belong to. It’s that feeling of home, acceptance and belonging I get when I think about them, rather than any romantic or sexual feelings.
Shipping asks
1. What was your first OTP?
HhHhhH The first one i remember is Soul X Maka from Soul Eater. Soul Eater was the first anime I watched when i was like ???? 11-12. And obviously since i was that age i consumed other media before that and probably saw other relationships but for life of me I can’t remember them. That’s probably because when I discovered Anime i discovered fanfiction too so Soul x Maki is the first ship i remember actually searching and reading fics for, sorta getting involved into a fandom for the first time, tho i wouldn’t be actively involved until i started writing for Durarara. I still haven’t rewatched Soul Eater in its completion since i watched it that first time ;-; Every like 5 years or so my brother and i will start a rewatch and never get very far hjbhjhj we watched it together first so we wanna rewatch it together too but maybe at this point we should just watch it separately. We aren’t very good at watching shows we actually like together hvhjh
17. Are there any popular ships that you just don’t like? What are they?
As I said I think my shipping tastes run p vanilla so I usually like the popular ships or at least don’t mind them much. That being said I did think of few.
Endhawks – I used to be passionately against this because I passionately hated Endeavor but since my feelings for Endeavor simmered down my feelings for this ship also simmered down from ‘THIS WAS MADE IN HELL’ to ‘gross no’. While I do think it’s best for Enji and Rei to separate or at least distance themselves, I hate this idea of Enji immediately getting into another relationship with someone that much younger then him who idolizes him. Like my man, that’s just not what you do when you are recovering from being abusive towards ur last spouse, that’s just a recipe for disaster. I do like their relationship as friends tho but I don’t like the idea of Hawks healing Enji or being a relationship where he can finally really fall in love or something because that just makes me very uncomfy.
Gojohime – apparently this is??? Pretty popular??? I had no idea until Foxy told me ppl were legit considering it endgame. Like…I’m just really not into ships where the guy and girl obviously hate each other and don’t get along and the way Gojo acts around Utahime can classify as nothing but piggy tail pulling. I like ships in which Gojo is compelled to act more mature and responsible but not ships that make it seems like his partner would be his babysitter or his mom or something and that’s v much the vibe this ship is giving me.
Itadori x Nobara – this ship doesn’t have bad vibes I just HEAVILY prefer them as besties. I like that JJK has little to no romantic fumblings and that the main three can just be friends J it’s refreshing. It just wouldn’t feel right for me if they hooked up.
18. What is your favorite unpopular ship?
So this is kind of interesting thing to ask cuz most of my ships that aren’r popular come from me uhhhh roleplaying bnha for over 3 years I think now. Yeah so I used to be super involved into the bnha roleplay community and the thing is with roleplay that you start looking for popular ships (My first was Tododeku) and then it kind of….goes off all over the place with time. The thing is roleplay servers die out and you follow people elsewhere. Sometimes you stay with the entire group, sometimes you just follow 1-2 people you really like. You change servers, you change groups, you stick by the few ppl you really like roleplaying with and eventually you ship together whatever the fuck because at that point the partner is more important than the ship. With a good partner you can make everything work. I mained Hawks, Shouto, Shinsou and sometimes Tamaki and one of my fav rp partners (we mostly rp ocs now) mostly mained Sero so….we did a LOT of Seroroki. I very rarely this ship anywhere but it was very fun we did it in a lot of aus. Same goes for Izuku x Sero X Shouto which we did with another friend in such a nice domestic au it was great. Also Momo x Shinsou with another partner, we didn’t do this for long because the server shut down soon after but uhhh they did yandere Momo and it was such a fantastic performance it sold me on yanderes forever.
Some honorary mentions of other crack ships I did: Midnight x Hawks, Kurogiri x Hari x Kai, Tamaki x Camie, Shishikura x Shouto.
That’s just off the top of my head all of these were surprisingly very good and fun, as I said, the partner matters not the ship. I think this is why I’m like way more lax in shipping in bnha then like in jjk. In jjk I need a ship to have a chemistry I can consider at least somewhat romantic to consider it, in bnha just fuckin everything goes because I’m so used to it just being this sandbox I can do anything in.
Uhh as for bonus question uhhh
29. Do you like OCs (Original Characters)?
I like ocs a whole lot I have a metric shit tone of them and I’d like to talk about them but idk how to start in a way that would be interesting to anyone ;-; rip
#justfreshapple#ask game#the writing on the post actually started to buffer so i had to stop jhbjhbj

soup eater, Gimme the works (all of the)m
AUTISM ACTIVATED. ok fuck this is gonna be long. under the cut it goes
📃 what is the plot of your hyperfixation? and is it a movie, game, show, etc?
😔 i am an anime enjoyer sadly enough. theres also the manga but i havent read that SO im just gonna be focusing on the anime for this one. uhhh (digging through my brain) none of this is going to be worded intelligently im sorry give me a moment.
there are these kids and some of them can turn into weapons. actually theres just weapon people in general and thats like Normal. dont ask too many lore questions. and they uhhh the kids go to a high school called the DWMA (lit. demon weapon-meister academy) focused on keeping the balance between good and evil. i uhhhhh
The anime is based on the Soul Eater manga series by Atsushi Ohkubo. The plot of the episodes follows Maka Albarn, a "meister" of the Death Weapon Meister Academy (DWMA), and her living weapon, Soul Eater, as she seeks to make the latter into a "death scythe" through absorbing the souls of evil humans.
thanks wikipedia
📌 how did you find your hyperfixation?
uhhh if im not mistaken an old friend introduced me to it back in 2018!! (hi holly the chances of you reading this are slim but hi) and it recently bubbled back up into my brain. ive been here for 2 years
✨ what draws you towards your hyperfixation? what is interesting about it?
i think that drew me towards it initially was the very halloweeny, early 2000s feel to it (and.. fair enough, it WAS made in 2008-2009 so its authentic) but what kept me reeled in was a lot of the themes and symbolism that i am waayy too tired to get into rn but i am just telling you bro this anime hits.. a little deep
and also canon nonbinary (even if shoddily translated at first) and psychotic characters win
🎥 do you have any favorite scenes from your hyperfixation?
i DO but i am keeping this spoiler free for you wife. these are all tearjerkers anyways so
🎶 if your hyperfixation has songs/an ost, what is your favorite song from it?
just one? 🥺 honestly the anime’s entire OST goes hard as hell and its super hard picking favorites but here:
LOTUS JUICE - PSYCHEDELIC SOULJAM DJ SHINYA - NEVER LOSE MYSELF LOTUS JUICE - STEP UP
and this one isnt part of the ost butttt....
CHIAKI OMIGAWA/KOKI UCHIYAMA - SOUL EATER CHARACTER SONG (Soul&Maka) - MAUVE IRO NO SYMPATHY
💕 tell us about one of your favorite characters and why you like them!
i could say crona and talk about their character development and how much i see myself in them and how we share the same trauma. or i could say maka and talk about HER character development and how i see myself in her in the sense of always trying to be good enough and pushing her limits to be strong and resilient in the face of everything. or i could say stein and go in depth about how hes written as a psychotic character while still not letting that define his entire being and how much i see myself in HIM. or i could talk about kid and liz and patti a
💔 tell us about one of your LEAST favorite characters and why you dislike them.
🏳🌈 do you have any headcanons (lgbt, race, neuro, etc) that are important to you?
lesbian maka, trans/intersex/nonbinary/lesbian crona, transmasc blackstar, nonbinary kid... literally all of these kids are neurodivergent (i see myself in them moment part 3845875)
🍀 do you have any kins or comfort characters from your hyperfixation?
that’s a little personal don’tcha think?
all jokes aside i don’t think i “kin” but uhhhh. honestly most these characters are comfort characters to me. soul eater in general is comfort media
💎 are there any fun facts or trivia that you would like to share?
*does a silly little dance* OHKAY!
none of the soul eater games (there were 3 of them) were ever released outside of japan
black☆star is voiced by women in both the jp and eng dubs
maka was chiaki omigawa’s first VA role
💢 what do you NOT like about your hyperfixation? is there something you would want to change about it?
this isnt anime specific and i am thinking heavily of the manga crona boobage weirdness but every time atsushi ohkubo writes something weird with these characters i feel like this image. it fills me with primal rage
anyways thanks for listening this took me over an hour to write amd i kept bouncing around my room because i am so autistic and this series makes me so happy

JEN’S THOUGHTS ON OC ETIQUETTE:
Uhhhhh, as someone who constantly creates and writes their own OCs, whether or not they’re made for another creator’s canon or my own, I always make sure that my children follow canon heavily ( with a few expectations here and there as long as it still makes sense to the original canon ). If when you’re writing your OC and say “ fuck all ” to the canon that you’re placing your OC in, your OC isn’t going to properly fit into that universe until you go back and fix it. Now, don’t take this the wrong way and shove words down my throat and go around saying “ don’t make OCs ”, because that’s not what I’m doing. I’m just saying if you’re not writing your own original canon and you’re placing your OC into a universe that someone else created, you need to make sure that your muse is going to be able to fit into that universe.
If your OC doesn’t properly fit into that universe, writing them is going to be complicated. If your OC doesn’t follow canon, writing with them is going to be a challenge. While you’re thinking “ it’s my muse, I can write them as I please ” do take into consideration how your writing partner is going to be affected by how your character is built, especially if you’re writing if let’s say a canon muse from that universe you based your OC in.
For example, if you’re writing an OC in the Gangsta universe, a manga series about exaggerated crime life and a series where demons and shit don’t exist, you’re not going to make your OC a vampire, it’s not going to fit in the canon. Now if you’re writing in the Blood C fandom, making your OC a monster of some sort is acceptable because it ( guess what ) fits within that canon.
Now if you properly develop your OC in that canon and are well versed in its lore, that’s when you can get a bit more creative with your OC’s abilities and skills. For example, my OC Shini is heavily based in Tokyo Ghoul’s lore, and since I’ve done my research for that canon, I can write things into Shini’s storyline and skillsets that may not be traditionally canon, but still make sense in that universe. For instance, when a ghoul heavily cannibalizes in that universe, there’s a chance they can develop a half-formed or fully formed kakuja, and with a kakuja comes a lot of power and newfound skills. So since Shini took the proper steps to obtain a kakuja, she can now do a lot of things that other ghouls cannot. Since I know enough about what hosting a kakuja means for a ghoul, I can write in other things for her that aren’t official in the series’ canon but still make sense, like the fact that she can slow down her RC regeneration or produce kagune based things from her body.
Another example is that you could be writing a Naruto OC and while I’m not well versed in I do understand that in order to learn jutsu the character has to study and then practice it until they master that jutsu, the character isn’t just going to look at the reference they’re using to learn it and then be able to do it just like that. Your OC has to face trial and error before they can do what they’re trying to do. The same thing goes with Fairy Tail, the character has to ever research the magic they’re learning and teach it to themselves or have someone teach it to them.
And the thing to keep in mind if you’re writing an OC, especially if your OC belongs to a certain canon is that people who are writing canon muses do have the right to reject interacting with you. Now what you need to remember the fact that they don’t want to interact with you can have nothing to do with you at all, rather your OC. There are both canon and OC writes who state in their rules that they do love OCs but do host the right to not follow you back or interact with you. What you may think when someone won’t interact with your OC is that they don’t like OCs, if you believe that to be the case, you’re ignorant. All canon characters are someone’s OC, someone’s favorite canon character is an OC made by the creator of the series. But if someone is willing to interact with an OC, that OC is highly likly properly developed, their storyline and abilities make sense to that canon, and because that OC is fleshed out. If you want to interact with a canon character but your OC’s storyline, skills, etc. doesn’t make sense in that particular canon, it’s going to make the writer of the canon muse have a really hard time writing with you because what they know about the canon can literally be thrown out the window because when you wrote your OC you said “ fuck all ” to the written canon and just did whatever you wanted to do.
From personal experience, not all my OCs followed canon or made any sense in that universe, but that’s before I knew how to write OCs. All my early OCs were shit, but I took what people said about them into consideration and continued to work on them. My best example of such an OC is my old Soul Eater OC, Emakie. When I wrote out Emakie’s lore I literally wrote her out without following any of the canon, she was Asuna’s and Arachnne’s daughter, she was half a witch but also a weapon who was her own meister, she and Death The Kid were in love, and she used magic. As I continued to watch the series I realized that she didn’t apply to canon at all and because of this I ended up making a new Soul Eater OC, properly wrote them out so they fit the canon, and what I did with Emakie is that I wrote my own webcomic ( which I got rid of completely ) and worked out her issues.
I’m not saying stop making OCs, all I’m saying is that you need to work on them. Not all characters you see in media are the exact version of their first draft, for example Natsu Dragneel from the Fairy Tail series was originally a demon not a dragon slayer, exceeds like Happy in the series had wings for arms, and Gray Fullbuster was going to be an ice dragon slayer. And if you still wanna say “ fuck all ” to canon, find a canon series for your OC where you can do that because there are series’ out there where nothing makes sense and anything can happen, like Fairy Tail.
Also, don’t take critiques of your OC personally, take what people are saying into consideration and work on your OC. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, do your research on that canon, even ask people to help you with your OCs if you want. And to end this off, if you’re struggling with your OC, feel free to find me and I’ll assist you.

Hey friend! From that sleepover list, what are your top five characters in any piece of media (tv, book, film, etc.) that you relate to most? Bonus: why?
Fuck man, i started responding to this then Tumblr went and closed itself out. This is an awesome question though!
1. Matteo Florenzi (Druck) Could it have been anyone else? His neurodivergence speaks to me okay? Like, to me he’s so obviously autistic and depressed, and he helped me through accepting my autism honestly (and Harper @gleedegrassi-bigfan) also the pasta in the morning!! Validated my super weird eating habits!!
2. Riley (Symptoms of Being Human) I read this book my freshman year of college, and it really stuck with me because it was the first book I had read with a nonbinary (specifically, genderfluid) protagonist and that spoke to me on such a deep level that I emailed the author to tell them how much their book affected me.
3. Spencer Reid (Criminal Minds) An old favorite of mine! I’ve been watching Criminal Minds since I was like, 10, and I’ve always identified with Reid. His awkward but unabashed nerdiness, the way he’ll just spout off any infortmation that people bring up, it’s great.
4. Matilda (Everything’s Gonna Be Okay) Canon autistic character!! Who’s not treated as a burden!! She stuck with me from the very first episode, in particular during the eulogy when she says “When I look to Nicholas and Genevieve I get the same feeling I only used to be able to feel with him (her father). In the big scary, confusing world, they make me feel safe.” Because I know that feeling to a T. As a kid, and even well into my teens, I only really felt safe with my mom, and now that feeling has also spread to Steven. Anyways, this is getting emotional, so onto number five.
5. Crona (Soul Eater) In Japan, Crona is canonical nonbinary. In English, their gender depends on whether you’re reading the manga (female) or watching the anime (male) so that to me was interesting. But Crona was also misgendered relatively ofren for the appearance, which is a mood, and also the shyness while also being pretty badass.

Do you ever think that getting stuck on "anime fandoms" stunts the growth of the media people engadge with?
I'm not sure I'm understanding this question, so I'm going to try taking two approaches:
Approach 1:
If you mean, "Does getting stuck on 'anime fandoms' stunt one's own growth as a media consumer," I would say it depends on the person. There is a comfort to having something familiar to return to over and over again as a viewer or a reader. This can be for good (calmness, a way to deal in a healthy way with anxiety). And this can be for bad (you're not trying new things, you may overlook flaws or problematic/bad/offensive/bigoted content, while it may help with anxiety it may not be the healthiest way to deal with personal problems).
Speaking personally, Soul Eater is still something I can go back to out of nostalgia, or to remember good times watching it with friends, and is something I can engage with to do something productive to deal with anxiety (write about it, re-read it, analyze it, commission art from it). Soul Eater got me back into anime after a long break from it, and when I was confronting a lot of difficult problems pursuing my education.
But it can also have its negative effects. Soul Eater may be something I hold up as a high benchmark that I ignore what other stories are doing well. It definitely bummed me out when seeing how poorly I think the follow-up series has gone, likely making me biased and ignoring the good stuff Fire Force does because I'm feeling bitter and, yeah, acting like a toxic fan. My attachment to what I got out of watching the series, and how it helped me in writing and research, as well as making friends and professional connections, may encourage how I overlook flaws in that series, similar to how people end up stanning for awful or problematic people because they can't get over their devotion to a person and think we're censoring or cancelling them. (Just look at how awful the Vic Mignogna stans are.)
And putting on another episode or looking over my blog for a bit can be a good temporary coping mechanism while dealing with some really bad stuff right now (death in the family, trying to find better work, trying to motivate myself when feeling really fucking depressed, living through this fucking pandemic, dealing with dipshits who refuse to mask up and get vaccinated when they can do both). But a temporary coping mechanism is not a substitution for facing stuff that scares me: I need to deal with those frightening things because they have to be done. (Good thing that final message from the last episode of Soul Eater holds up, about facing fear head on, like Maka faced off against Asura...I'm still super pissed off that more people didn't think that way in 2016 before giving into fear and letting that four-year White House fascistic nightmare happen.)
But it's not as if one anime or one manga can't unlock appreciation for other stories told in comics and animation, or other types of art and storytelling, or getting into a hobby (anime about camping, cooking, dance, sports) or topic (historical dramas, etc) or genre (horror, noir, action, etc).
Approach 2:
If you mean, "Can a fandom stunt how a particular media grows," it depends.
We've seen toxic fandoms limit what a particular piece of media (one film, one TV show, one comic, etc) or one entire media (the film industry, the TV industry, the anime-adapted-into-live-action industry) could achieve.
For example, I think there is a large enough segment of DC Comics fans who held back what the film adaptations could have done. I really don't want to "both sides" this, because, God no, I am not a fan of Zack Snyder and his approach to comics in general and Superman, Batman, and others more specifically. But I do think a refusal to give him more free rein on Batman v Superman did more harm to what was already going to be a bad film (it was a Superman film by Zack Snyder, of course this was going to be bad--Warner Bros just made it worse).
And I do think that Warner Bros's skittishness around taking bigger chances led to long delays before the studio finally hit upon stuff in cinema that worked better (Birds of Prey, the second Suicide Squad). If Warner Bros had stopped worrying what the Snyder crowd would think, if Warner Bros would stop worrying about what a bunch of misogynists would think of Birds of Prey, if the goal was just to make a good movie and let it find its audience, I think better art would thrive. I'm not saying it would make money, but if your films aren't making money anyway, then making something good has a better chance of profiting at least.
And this many years later, I still get irritated that Marvel didn't go more comic book-y and weirder with the first Iron Man film: it took up to Avengers (which is really good, but whose legacy is tainted by Whedon's fuckery) and Guardians of the Galaxy (which...I'm not a big fan of: that's weird, but not the kind of weird I was hoping for--forgive how vague that sounds) before Marvel got really out there. I think if they had gone weirder, the first Thor film would have been more fun. (I'm not a fan of Thor: Ragnarok out of the same regard I have for Guardians: this is weird, just not the kind of weird I like.) I do think this idea that you need to appeal to fans can be limiting: you try to ignore the fans too much, it's too dull like the first Iron Man; you try to give the fans what they want, you get Scott Pilgrim and no profit.
And you look at anime fandoms being so fixated on every last part of the live action Cowboy Bebop and no wonder no one was happy with it: "it's too much like a cartoon" and "it's not enough like the anime," and what should just be an acceptable-enough series is considered the worst thing ever, in part because of problems with some parts of a fandom.
Things should be made for the fans; things should not be dictated for the fans. I kind of hope that makes sense. Making a good story, even if it's not quite close enough to canon or quite like the original, can still be a great adaptation that will be made for the fans. Worrying about every plot detail, being absolutely inside canon, because exactly like the original, is more likely going to seem like a stitched together set of ideas without the cohesion of a good story that draws in the audience. That pandering to the fans insults them and doesn't allow them to grow: that pandering stunts their growth.
