genuinely one of the coolest things u can do if ur a native speaker of a language that has a "clean" "standard" variant and ur from a region w a heavy dialect is just not give a fuck. dialects and accents are so incredibly beautiful and enrich the language so much but they're also so incredibly quickly condemned as sounding "less educated" and other vile classist shit and i think everyone who refuses to conform and fall in line w that is fucking sexy

#sorry i watched a german language interview w timo meier and nico hischier today and while both of them did tone down #their accent a bit and switched to 'standard' german grammar nico still had a v thick accent and it was just sooo nice to hear lol #the interviewer was franconian and i cringed So Hard at the way he pronounced 'schwizerdütsch'#rip to everyone on the other side of the alamannic/austrobavarian dialect border ig lol #languages #cavetext
