sorry I'd never seen Danton's actual face, I only knew him from the one production of Andre Chenier that I watched via stream with Željko Lučić as Carlo Gerard, a fictional revolutionary I assumed was based on Danton. Turns out he's not even supposed to be Danton, he's based on Tallien

Like idk I guess I didn't pay attention enough on the plot to realise he was a Thermidorian. This opera is kinda boring tbh (during intermission, a reporter asked the lead actor what he thought about the fact that this opera opened the same year as the far superior La Bohème and was forgotten forever which was such a dick move asdfghjkl to the lead actor! He's going back on stage!!!!)

anyway, all this to say I had no idea Danton looked so striking. Like yeah I guess if I saw that face in front of me I would be impressed. I mean just look at the guy.
