Here's our TCM picks for the week of Dec. 14, 2020.
1. The Music Box (1932) at 6:12 pm ET/3:12 pm PT Monday, Dec. 14: This Oscar-winning short finds December stars of the month Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy as frustrated furniture movers who repeatedly try to get a piano up a steep hillside. This is undoubtedly L&H's finest screen work and it certainly ranks among the best short films ever made. There's a lot more Stan and Ollie throughout the day including Way Out West (1937) at 8 pm ET and Bonnie Scotland (1935) at 12:15 am ET.
2. Lilies of the Field (1963) at 8:30 pm ET/5:30 pm PT Tuesday, Dec. 15: Each December, the National Film Registry chooses 25 films to preserve for posterity. This year's selections include this heartwarming drama about an itinerant carpenter (Sidney Poitier, making history in an Oscar-winning performance) who helps a group of nuns build a chapel.
3. Remember the Night (1940) at 8 pm ET/5 pm PT Friday, Dec. 18: TCM is kicking off a week-long marathon of classic Christmas movies with this wonderful romance about a district attorney (Fred MacMurray) who is forced to take a pickpocket (Barbara Stanwyck) back home to Indiana. This is old Hollywood filmmaking at its finest with great chemistry between two old Hollywood greats, excellent supporting performances, and a finely wrought script from Preston Sturges.
4. The Bishop's Wife (1948) at 6 pm ET/3 pm PT Saturday, Dec. 19: We'll be live-tweeting along at https://twitter.com/oldhollywood21  with this fan favorite about a handsome angel (Cary Grant) who is assigned to help a busy minister (David Niven) and his family.
5. Kiss of Death (1947) at midnight ET/9 pm PT Saturday night/Sunday morning: If you like your holiday cheer on the noir side, tune into this crime drama about the fallout from a Christmas Eve robbery. Richard Widmark (in his film debut) makes for one of noir's most memorable villains as giggling psychopath Tommy Udo. There will be an encore airing at 10 am ET Sunday.

Watch Wrangler National Finals Rodeo 2018 day 10 performance from the Thomas & Mack Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The 10-day event begins on Thursday and runs through Dec. 6-15 and CBS Sports Network (CBSSN) will cover all of the rounds each night from the Las Vegas arena. The 2018 Wrangler ProRodeo Tour opened at the Clark County Fair & Rodeo back in April, and since then, more than two dozen different events have been held across the United States. Now, the ProRodeo Tour Finale, presented by Justin Boots and hosted at the Washington State Fair in Puyallup, Wash., is set to bring the tour to a close with the top 24 contestants from the ProRodeo Tour standings. The winner in each event of the Tour Finale will then be crowned the 2018 Wrangler Tour Champion.Walt Garrison, a star Dallas Cowboys running back in the 1970s, also was a prize-winning steer wrestler on the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association circuit. After he retired from football, he was a great promoter and ambassador for rodeo. He was inducted into the ProRodeo Hall of Fame last month in Colorado Springs, Colorado.Former Minnesota Vikings tight end Jared Allen owned bulls that were part of the Professional Bull Riders circuit in recent years. Former Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco attempted to ride a bull at a PBR show in 2011. Ochocinco lasted only 1.5 seconds and crossed bull riding off of his bucket list. One former NFL player who has recently become involved with pro rodeo is former New York Giants tight end Bear Pascoe. A high point for the 6-foot-5, 260 pound tight end was making several receptions in Super Bowl XLVI for the Giants in the 21-17  against the  Patriots in Indianapolis.Pascoe was in the NFL from 2009 through 2016. But during the past two years, he has learned how to become a prize winning steer wrestler on the PRCA circuit.During the past weekend, Pascoe finished the money in the steer wrestling title race at the Ellensburg Rodeo, which was the highest paying PRCA rodeo of the Labor Day Weekend. The Aug. 31-Sept. 3 rodeo in Ellensburg, Washington, offered competitors $341,885.Pascoe turned in times of 4.4, 4.0, and 4.0 seconds along the way to finishing fourth in the average title race with a three-run aggregate time of 12.8. Pascoe said steer wrestling is very challenging and similar to playing pro football in some ways.

“Both are very high tempo, very physical sports,” he said. “In steer wrestling you’re dealing with three animals and two humans and so a lot can happen. At least on a football field, most guys can kind of judge what a team’s going to do or what a defense is going to do. There’s a lot more variables when you’re steer wrestling.” Pascoe grew up on a California ranch. After being involved with the NFL for seven years, he returned more to his western roots. He began learning to become a steer wrestler two years ago with help of his father-in-law, John W. Jones, a three-time PRCA world champion steer wrestler in the 1980s.Despite rodeo’s many variables, Pascoe has been a fast learner. He clinched the steer wrestling title at PRCA approved rodeo in August 2017 in Santa Barbara, California, after turning in a time of 4.9. The rodeo featured both cowboys who had earned a PRCA membership card and those who were attempting to earn membership in the world’s most prominent pro rodeo league. At the time, Pascoe was classified as a permit member, which meant he was attempting to earn a PRCA membership card. Remarkably, the Santa Barbara rodeo was Pascoe’s first time to compete on the PRCA circuit. He earned $1,717, not near the kind of money that athletes earn in the NFL, but it was one big mental boost. Pascoe also finished in the money at other regional PRCA rodeos, which in turn helped him qualify for the PRCA’s 2017 Permit Members Of the Year Challenge. The Permit Members Challenge was held in Las Vegas at the South Point Equestrian Center on Dec. 7, the same day the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in opened its 10-day run at Las Vegas’ Thomas & Mack Center. Pascoe won the second round at the Permit Members Challenge after turning in a time of 4.0 seconds, which would have earned prize money at most rodeos, including five of the 10 rounds of the 2017 National Finals Rodeo. He also secured the average title with a two-run time of 9.8.Pascoe said he’s applying the same type of hard work ethic to steer wrestling that he learned while growing up on the family ranch near Porterville, California, which is about 50 miles north of Bakersfield.“I grew up working alongside my dad and my brother and a lot of good cowboys,” Pascoe said. “It’s always been a part of my life. Even when I was in New York playing for the Giants, I always tried to keep true to the values I learned when I was a kid growing up and working hard and getting the job done and living right.“I learned to the value of getting the job done no matter how long it took and staying there until it got done. In football, it meant putting in the time, working hard on the field and staying after practice. In the class room, it meant getting there early or staying extra late to watch extra film. It’s the same way in the rodeo world. You have to put the time in in the practice pen and learn the techniques, so when you get in the rodeo arena, you won’t have to worry about anything. It all becomes muscle memory.”Bill Tutor of Huntsville, a 2017 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo qualifier, finished second in the bareback riding title race at the Aug. 31-Sept. 2 Elk City Rodeo of Champions after turning in a score of 85 and earned $2,099. He’s ranked No. 4 in the PRCA’s 2018 bareback riding world title race.Defending world all-around champion Tuf Cooper, a Childress native who has residences in Decatur and Weatherford, clinched the all-around title at the Ellensburg Rodeo after earning $5,904 in tie-down roping and steer roping. Cooper also snared the all-around title at the Walla Walla rodeo after earning $9,502 in tie-down roping and steer roping. After all that, Cooper is ranked No. 1 in the PRCA’s 2018 world all-around race. For the second consecutive year the PRCA Ram Turquoise Circuit Rodeo Finals, presented by Cliff Castle Casino, is coming to the Prescott Valley Event Center (PVEC). The event features the top rodeo participants from Arizona and New Mexico in a national PRCA sanctioned event.Last year’s event included multiple former world champions and the competition is expected to be even more intense this year, as hot up-and-comers take their shot at the title against established favorites in Bare Back Riding, Steer Wrestling, Team Roping, Saddle Bronc Riding, Tie-Down Roping, Barrel Racing and Bull Riding.Cowboys and Cowgirls participating in the event have a chance to move on to the national circuit finals, and prize money won in Prescott Valley counts towards qualifying for the Wrangler National Finals in Las Vegas. With over $175,000 in prize money on the line, the action will be thrilling as the toughest men and women on dirt face off against elite bovine and equine athletes. We are very excited about the return of the PRCA Ram Turquoise Circuit Rodeo Finals to the PVEC on October 5th & 6th. We received really positive feedback from both the participants and fans about the facility and the response from the local community has been fantastic. We are looking forward to another great event in year two and have now added a post event concert & dance to the festivities,” stated Scott Norton, General Manager for Spectra at the Prescott Valley Event Center.
PVEC’s unique indoor setting provides an intimate rodeo experience, allowing fans to be much closer to the action than in traditional rodeo venues. This year’s competition will once again feature three sessions, taking place on Friday evening (7p), Saturday afternoon (1:30p) and Saturday evening (7p). On Saturday night the Bud Light Concert & Rodeo Dance, featuring national recording artist Jacob Morris, will take place under a tent at the PVEC following the rodeo. The event is presented in association with Matt’s Saloon. Entrance is FREE with any 2018 Turquoise Circuit Rodeo Finals ticket or only $5 at the door.More than 600 rodeos and over $36 million dollars all boil down to this. September 30 marks the final day of the 2018 PRCA regular season, meaning we have less than two weeks until the fate of the top 15 competitors in the world is sealed. There are just 29 rodeos left before the end of the 2018 PRCA Rodeo Season of September 30, so that means 29 more chances to get within — or stay within — the top 15 in the world. Some are safe, but some are hitting the rodeo trail hard over the next two weekends and counting every penny they earn while they do it. We caught up with Tanner Milan last weekend at Oldstoberfest when he was sitting in the 16th spot in the world standings. He's since dropped to No. 17, but the race is still on for Milan though and it wouldn't be unlike him to close the gap in the standings. The bareback riding has the biggest jump from No. 15 to 16 out of all of the events. That doesn't mean Wyatt Denny (and the competitors just above him) are definitely safe, but they have a small cushion to work with in the final few rodeos left in the season.Clint Laye is the No. 16 man and is over $7,500 behind Denny, so he'll need some big wins to make it back to his second WNFR.The bareback riding has the biggest jump from No. 15 to 16 out of all of the events. BTS’s Yoongi x Reader
Genre: Angst; drama
Word Count: 1,491
Part 2 and 3 Full Text
Days have passed and no one has heard from her.
“It’s reasonable though. You DID yell at her and blame her for ruining your life,” Jungkook stated. Jin smacked the back of the maknae’s head.
“Hush,” he scolded. Yoongi couldn't help but look down and remain silent. They had placed her phone in her apartment mailbox, hoping she would receive it. That was the only thing they were willing to risk putting out, thinking that it would be too risky to place wallets and keys. They had been waiting for a call that never came.
Suddenly, a calm ringtone echoed throughout the room. Despite being from an unknown number, Yoongi immediately picked it up, hoping it was her.
“Hello?” he said into the device.
“Where is Y/N?” said the voice in return.
“Who is this?” Yoongi questioned sternly. The other boys in the room began to gather-- closing in on Yoongi in order to attempt to hear what was happening.
“My name is Kim Yoona. I am a friend of Y/N and a co-worker of hers. She hasn’t checked into work in a few days and we are beginning to worry. No one has heard from her,” she stated. Yoongi froze at the words he was hearing. “We heard you guys were close. We’re just trying to locate her,” the voice continued.
“I...I haven’t heard from her in days. Not ever since she stormed out..we had an argument,” Yoongi said solemnly.
“Ah...I see...Do you perhaps know anyone else we can call?”
“I’m afraid not…”
“Hm...okay. If you hear from her, or if any information on her surfaces, please do not hesitate to call this number. If i do not pick up, please leave a message.”
“Of course,” Yoongi said, feeling utterly defeated. The call ended and he placed the phone back onto the table with a blank face-- his mind completely wiped clean due to shock. He simply could not digest the conversation he had just been thrown into. He refused to believe that she was gone.
“What happened?” Jimin asked cautiously, inching closer to Yoongi.
“I...They...They said she’s gone missing,” Yoongi stated, the last few words barely audible as it trailed into the air. “She hasn’t been to work for a few days…no one has heard from her” he started again, this time louder for them to hear.
“Maybe someone stole her phone ad she felt ill so she didn’t go to work,” suggested Jin.
“She would have found a way. She’s always on top of her responsibilities. That just her personality,” Yoongi retorted.
“I’m sure she’s fine. If anything, the police will be on the case,” said Jimin, trying to comfort his Hyung.
“...You’re right. Maybe I’m just overreacting. She is probable at another friend’s house and just doesn’t know any numbers to call…” Yoongi said out loud, mainly to comfort himself. However, he knew, deep down, that this was a lie.
“That’s the spirit!” Jin said, patting Yoongi on the back. Despite the love and support from his members, Yoongi couldn’t help but feel the immense guilt that continuously gnawed at him, slowly driving him insane.

Boeing Co. BA -0.74% has expanded inspections of newly produced 787 Dreamliners after finding a previously disclosed manufacturing defect in sections of the jet where it hadn’t been initially detected, according to industry and government officials.
Boeing engineers and U.S. air-safety regulators agree the newly discovered problem doesn’t pose an imminent safety hazard, the officials said. But the new issue is likely to ramp up a Federal Aviation Administration review of 787 production safeguards sparked earlier this year by other defects, one of these officials said.
The broader quality-control checks, covering the entire fuselage of the planes rather than just certain sections around the tail, are why inspections are taking longer than previously anticipated, the officials said. It also explains why no Dreamliners were delivered in November.
The Chicago-based plane maker disclosed the inspection and delivery delays Dec. 4 without specifying the reasons for them.
The defects in question are spots where the surface of the 787’s carbon-composite fuselage isn’t as smooth as it is should be, a Boeing spokesman said. Such areas can create tiny gaps where fuselage sections are linked together and could lead to premature structural fatigue, which can require extensive repairs. The spokesman said the inspections have pinpointed areas where assembly of portions of the 787 fuselage “may not meet specified skin flatness tolerances.”
The defects mark the fourth assembly-line lapse affecting Boeing’s popular family of wide-body jets that has come to light in as many months. Other than May, after the Covid-19 pandemic roiled airline operations and forced the plane maker to briefly shut down production facilities, November was the only month since 2013 without a Dreamliner delivery, according to an analysis of delivery data.
The company found the latest issue through strengthened quality-assurance practices over the past year, when other defects had been identified, the Boeing spokesman said. And he said the company has asked suppliers to perform similar checks. “These findings are part of Boeing’s review of assembled 787 aircraft to ensure each meets our highest quality standards prior to delivery to customers,” he said.
The FAA, which has been considering actions to mitigate the problems by potentially issuing safety directives, on Sunday released a statement saying the agency regularly engages with Boeing on “continued operational safety and manufacturing oversight processes to appropriately address any issues that might arise.”
Under pressure from the FAA, Boeing also has stepped-up internal manufacturing controls focusing on other lapses ranging from inspection paperwork problems to debris mistakenly left behind by assembly-line workers inside 737 MAX jetliners and military tankers.
The wide-body passenger jets, which Boeing first delivered in 2011, have an excellent safety record and are frequently used on long international routes. If found on planes already carrying passengers, the latest defect can be addressed during comprehensive maintenance checks that are required as the jets age, some of the officials familiar with the matter said.
Delivery delays threaten to add to Boeing’s financial strain as it struggles with fallout from the pandemic, which has sapped global demand for air travel and passenger jets. Boeing Chief Financial Officer Greg Smith has said Boeing expected to continue working to clear its growing inventory of undelivered Dreamliners through next year.
Earlier this year, Boeing disclosed the skin-smoothness defect near the rear of the planes, as well as improperly sized shims—or parts used to fill small gaps where the fuselage sections are joined together. It wasn’t immediately clear how many planes have been found with the skin-smoothness defects in additional locations, but officials familiar with the matter said instances appeared relatively isolated.
Boeing has been shifting Dreamliner production to its plant in South Carolina.

Boeing engineers previously determined that when the defects involving skin smoothness and shim size both occur in the same location, the result can be tiny imperfections creating a potential hazard such as a cracking in the fuselage under extreme flying conditions. Boeing in August took the unusual step of voluntarily grounding eight aircraft in airlines’ fleets for immediate repairs.
Those earlier problems prompted the FAA to start reviewing quality-control lapses in Boeing’s 787 production stretching back almost a decade.
Boeing also previously identified a third quality-control lapse affecting the horizontal stabilizer, a movable, winglike panel in the tail.
Earlier this month, Mr. Smith disclosed Boeing’s intention to further cut 787 production next year because of weak demand and a growing backlog of parked planes.
Boeing, which has been producing around 10 Dreamliners a month, as of early December had 53 built but undelivered 787s that had been in its inventory for an average of about five months, according to aviation-research firm Ascend by Cirium.
Mr. Smith said the monthly 787 production rate would remain below Boeing’s target of 10 before slowing to five in May at its plant in North Charleston, S.C. Assembly of 787s is set to end at a Seattle-area Boeing facility.
The 787 manufacturing issues are unrelated to design flaws in a flight-control system that kept the global fleet of 737 MAX jets grounded for nearly two years. The plane models are built in separate facilities.

The Killing of Rhonda Hinson Part 24
Tumblr media
Detective James “Flash“ Pruett, formerly of the Burke County Sheriff’s Department, and his dog, Paiute.
By LARRY J. GRIFFIN
Special Investigative Reporter
For The Record
When presented with competing hypotheses that make the same predictions, one should select the solution with the fewest assumptions. – Occam’s Razor
It was in mid-December 1994, when 44-year-old Detective James “Flash” Pruett of the Burke County Sheriff’s Department began to look into the killing of Rhonda Hinson.
Arguably the most perspicacious of all the investigators to scrub the case, Detective Pruett commenced his inquiries subsequent to an order from Sheriff Richard Epley.  “…Sheriff Epley instructed all investigators to look into the Rhonda Hinson homicide,” he wrote in his extensive case notes.
Immediately, he located Rhonda’s grandmother, Julia Price—Judy Hinson’s mother—and interviewed her on Monday Dec. 19, 1994, six days after what would have been her granddaughter’s 32nd birthday. At the time, the 89-year-old lived alone in a home located on Rora Avenue in Valdese, approximately a mile from the Hinsons’ residence on Hillcrest Street.
During the interview, Detective Pruett mainly listened as Ms. Price talked.  She provided little more than biographic information about her granddaughter; but Flash did inquire as to Rhonda’s confidantes.  “…I did ask who Rhonda would confide in or tell her innermost thoughts.  Julia said Rhonda was very close to Chris Price [Dr. Christina Hardin], her first cousin who is a schoolteacher in either South Jefferson or North   Augusta, S.C.  She said Rhonda told her problems to her during a family visit.  Another friend of Rhondas’s, Jill Turner [Mull] is married and living in Charlotte, NC.”
Additionally, Ms. Price did confirm that her granddaughter “spent a lot of time with the McDowell Family, would go to church, eat lunch, and come back home on Sundays.”
On Tuesday, Jan. 3, 1995, Detective Pruett purposed to locate a blue Chevy Nova that the McDowell Family owned in 1981. His objective:  to examine the automobile for any traces of Rhonda Hinson’s blood.
Flash contacted Shelia Robinson, secretary at Wilkies Grove Church, to inquire after a similar car belonging to her father-in-law, Jack Robinson.  She recalled observing a vehicle matching the description at his house but averred that he had sold it a year earlier.
“I decided to talk with Jack today, and I located him at East Burke  High School.  He is a teacher there, and I was able to talk with him in a conference room near the front office.  Jack said he indeed had a blue 1969 Nova, but he had purchased it new.  It was never owned or used by the McDowells.”
Mr. Robinson confirmed that he had sold the automobile a year earlier to a Harold Cantrell; and, he had no recollection of a similar car being owned or utilized by the McDowells.  [Note:  In 1969, Mr. Robinson was teaching at Drexel High School.  He taught mathematics and physics to this writer who graduated in the same year that he purchased his blue Nova.]
According to Mr. Pruett’s case notes, it was during his first interview that Charles McDowell confirmed owning a blue four-door 1976 Chevy Nova.  Burke County property records, reviewed on Thursday, July 12, 1984, corroborated his claim. Previously reported was a statement by Tonya Benge [Featherby]—who worked with Rhonda at Hickory Steel and attended the Dec. 22, 1981, company Christmas party with her and Sherry Pittman [Yoder]—in which she averred that she saw Greg McDowell picking up Rhonda Hinson at noon on the same day. The car was parked next to the building at Hickory Steel at lunchtime when Tonya and Rhonda exited the building together.
Before he concluded his interview with Mr. Robinson, Flash asked if Greg had ever “target practiced” around the church’s parsonage or near Jack’s home.  The pedagogue indicated that he was unaware of any firearms or target shooting by the neighboring McDowells.
In an interview with Detective Pruett and—eventually—this writer, Judy Hinson maintained that Jack Robinson and student, Greg McDowell, were close.  Initially, Flash delayed talking with Mr. Robinson because of the alleged relationship between him and Greg; however, he decided to proceed.
At the inception of his investigation, James Pruett was partnered with Detective Gene Franklin—the assignment was made by Richard Epley, Flash recollected, when asked about it over the weekend past.  In fact, on Friday Jan. 20, 1995, the sheriff issued an official case reassignment memorandum.  It read:
“On today’s date, Sheriff Richard Epley, Major Robert Lane and Lieutenant Greg Calloway assigned Detective James Pruett to be the lead investigator in the thirteen year old [sic] homicide of Rhonda Annette Hinson. Major Lane will assign Gene Franklin to assist Detective Pruett in the continuation of the investigation.”
Flash’s first mention of Detective Franklin, in his copious notes, was dated Monday, Jan. 30, 1995—10 days subsequent to the reassignment notice.
“I met with Gene Franklin today to discuss his opinions on the case and to plan the re-creation of the crime scene…I was curious if Gene would come to the same conclusions I reached…. Gene’s conclusions were almost identical to mine.  He and I felt the previous investigators did an outstanding job, but were constantly under pressure to prove they were creditable.”
After a brief discussion of possible suspects and noting that the McDowells had credible alibis because “each member verifies where the other was at the time of the shooting,” the detective duo turned attention to re-creating the crime scene, aspiring to ascertain from which location the fatal shot had been fired.  They first visited the office of Norman Long in the county Tax Office.
“…[We] requested him to plot a rough field of fire from the angles I obtained from the photographs.  He made a large copy of the area and plotted the angles supplied. The 70-degree horizontal angle would have placed the gunman on the east side of [Hwy] 350 [Eldred Street] in a wooded area between Perkins Road and the off ramp at I-40.  The five-degree vertical angle was not plotted because of the lack of topographical maps.”
After observing Mr. Long completing the map by marking off 25-foot increments from the exit ramp and extending north on Eldred St approximately 250 feet, the two detectives drove to the crime scene where they verified that it would be almost impossible to shoot into the vehicle on the 70-degree angle—the terrain was too steep.  They concluded that the fatal shot would have had to come from the eastside of Eldred Street.
In 1995, Gene Franklin’s ex-brother-in-law, Jack Andrews maintained a surveyor’s office at 113 West McDowell Street in the city of Morganton.  Flash and Franklin visited the office to request that a survey team meet them on-site to plot the field of fire—a task that Mr. Andrews and his crew averred would be easy to complete with a scant few measurements.  It was agreed that all would meet at the location the next afternoon at 3:30 p.m.
The detective duo decided to meet the next day, in-advance of the crew’s arrival, to re-create the crime scene.  They also planned to wear off-duty casual clothes to conceal the renewed interest in the Hinson case.  There were two objectives to be attained:  First, determine the location at which the weapon fired the fatal shot; and two, to extensively comb the area for a shell casing that could have potentially been ejected from a rifle.
Detectives, Pruett and Franklin arrived the next morning to stake-out the crime scene per their plans.  They also devoted some time to listening to motorists change gears as they navigated the incline of Eldred Street, after turning right off the I-40 Westbound exit ramp.
“We determined most of the time the drivers changed into third gear near the old torn down home driveway or near the power pole [where] the crime scene measurements were taken.  Gene and I feel the victim was in motion and changing the gears from second to third; but the shift was not complete when the projectile immediately killed the victim.”
The survey team-of-three arrived at approximately 3:38 p.m.  The crew sprang to work immediately taking measurements from a previously located control point. Then, a moment of disappointment for Flash.
“I immediately became disappointed when the vertical angle cleared the southern-most bank near the exit ramp.  I was wanting to completely discount the random-shooting from I-40 [theory].”
The crew and the investigators left the scene approximately 5:14 PM, after deciding that they needed to reflect upon their angle logic.
Flash and Gene drove east on I-40, exited via the Rutherford College off-ramp before returning to the I-40 westerly direction from whence they came.
“We were discussing the angle problems when suddenly Gene realized no one had compensated the six-percent grade into the formula.  We rushed to the surveyor’s office in Morganton and caught [two of the surveyors] in the parking lot.  We informed them of Gene’s finding, and they agreed the corrected formulas would lower the trajectory at least six-feet from the stake of the control 00 location. Due to that fact, it would be impossible for the projectile to have been fired from either Elmer Buff’s [located on a ridge south of the I-40 W off-ramp toward Mineral Springs Mountain and on the opposite side of the road from Hazel Street and Holly Hills] or I-40.  The angle would indicate it was absolutely possible the shooter could have ambushed the victim from or near the old logging road.”
For all intents and purposes—over 24-years ago—Detectives Pruett and Franklin eliminated the possibility that the killing of Rhonda Hinson was a random act.
On Feb. 10, 1995, Gene Franklin wrote a synopsis of the Rhonda Hinson case, that not only questioned the efficacy of the investigation, but cast doubt upon its solvability.

Back to blogging
I haven’t blogged in a little bit.  I am going to blog again.  I really don’t think anyone is going to read this.  but if you are, hi!
Kids:
so I read the last few blogs I wrote and things are getting much better with the kids and their sleep schedules.  I have them sleeping in their own beds every night around 7pm in bed.  Linus and Tifa still cry and protest a little bit but at least they sleep through the night after about 20 min, and they sleep 12 hours every night.  That’s nice!
Back to the spring schedule.  The fall schedule was similar.
I have M:  usually not much, it’s suppose to be MOMS club play date but they have been slow lately.
Tues:  every other Tues is MOPS, with free child care
Wed:  FBA, a bible study with free child care
thurs:  PWOC with free child care
Fri:  Coffee date!  I like them, I think I can learn to know them more and like them more (3 girls I hang out with)
I try to do laundry only once a week, only on Saturdays, and also grocery shopping only on Saturdays without the kids.
I am budgeting a lot more than I use to.  I read Dave Ramsey’s Total Money makeover and we are trying to budget.
I read “boundaries” by townsend and cloud, and really like it.
My brother tried to live with me and my friend is wondering why I can’t charge him rent and why is he always asking to borrow money.  I wonder the same thing, but I am starting to get to the root of things.
I also just recently read 7 habits of highly effective people.
I have been memorizing bible verses lately.
Talking to God a little bit more these days.
John 16:33  “Jesus said I have told you these things so that in me you will have peace, in the world you will have many problems, but take heart, I have overcome the world”
Also Matthew 6:33 “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you”
Also Exodus 14:14 “The Lord will fight for you, you need only to be still”
Also Ephesians 6:17 “put on the helmet of salvation and take up the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God”
also 2 Timothy 1:7 “But the Lord did not give you a spirit of Fear, but of Power, Love and self discipline”
These are the bible verses that I have been thinking of lately.
I hope to memorize more bible verses as the rest of 2017 goes on.
My sister got married around Dec 10, she is having her white wedding on Aug 19, it is a Sunday.
My mother in law came to visit the day after Christmas for a week, and then my family went to see my sister and her husband at Myrtle beach for two days (new years eve and new years).
My husband and I are doing better, I have learned to forgive and to focus on not him as my center but more so focus on God and his principles of righteousness as my center.  I have to focus on God and let god be in charge of me, and not anyone or anybody else!  I have to!  I have to learn to do that to be in self control and not get angry because no one is perfect and anyways, Psalm 1 says a righteous man meditates on God’s law day and night and has no time for any other thoughts!  He does not stand in the way of a sinner or sit in the seat of a mocker!  He has no time for that!  Besides what they do is between them and God and God will take care of them just like God will take care of me!  ok,,, peace out!  I will try to write more about my attempt to make friends, figure myself out and other things.
Oh by the way I found a small church that I like.  They have a women’s bible study that I really like.  It’s focused on bible scriptures!  I love it!  I love the singing too.  It’s a really small church.
My daughter takes 2-3 hour naps and I let my son do quiet time and learn his ABCs or whatever, when she naps.  I need that time to read too!  I have 2-3 bible studies I want to do.
Today she slept from 1-almost 4 pm!

The NFL and U.S. military have more than 42 years of shared history at the Super Bowl. From flyovers, to special presentations of the Color Guard, to military performances during pregame festivities, the NFL's unwavering support of veterans, active duty service members and their families is deeply embedded as a Super Bowl tradition. Super Bowl LIV will also feature a Joint Aerial flight demonstration represented by the men and women of the United States Navy and United States Marine Corps.
This year also marks the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II. The four veterans participating in the coin toss are members of the "Greatest Generation" and were among the 16 million Americans whose sacrifice, valor, dedication, and determination 75 years ago preserved our freedom and saved our nation and the world. The NFL worked alongside the Friends of the National World War II Memorial organization who helped to identify these veterans.
"More than 1,000 NFL personnel served in the military during World War II," said HOLLY ROTONDI of Friends of the National World War II Memorial. "By honoring these four veterans at the championship game, the league is preserving the national memory of the Greatest Generation and World War II."
Below are more details about the four World War II veterans participating in this year's coin toss:
ODÓN S. CARDENAS: (U.S. Army, World War II) Cardenas was born on July 30, 1919 in Devine, Texas and spent most of his youth as a sugar beet farmer in Shakopee, Minnesota. He had four brothers who also served in the U.S. Military. In Mar. 1941, Cardenas started his service with the U.S. Army as a Private First Class at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. He was an excellent marksman and earned the Rifle Expert and Carbine Expert ratings. He was later promoted to Sergeant and Squad Leader and was re-assigned to the 172nd Battalion, Company C at Camp Roberts, California as part of the Infantry Replacement Training Centers.  He was deployed in 1944 to the European Theater of Operations of World War II and landed in France and moved into Belgium, then Germany, fighting in the Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe battles as part of the Third Army in France and Germany under the command of General George Patton. While on the front lines in German territory, Sergeant Cardenas and his unit were attacked by German opposition and several of his squad members were killed by a panzerfauste recoilless antitank round fired during close quarters combat.  After losing consciousness and being left for dead, Sergeant Cardenas and a few others regained consciousness, then attempted to escape at night in brutal winter conditions but were captured on March 14, 1945. was held at POW camps Stalag 12A near Dusseldorf, Germany, then moved to POW camp 9B near Limburg An Der Lahn, Hessen, Germany. After approximately two weeks, they were liberated by fellow U.S. service members, who were overwhelming German forces. Staff Sergeant Cardenas returned to the U.S. on April 28th, 1945. For his service, he was awarded an American Defense Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and a European African Middle Eastern Service Medal and three Bronze Stars. Staff Sergeant Cardenas received an honorable discharge in October 1945 as part of the general demobilization orders after the conclusion of World War II. He returned to civilian life as millions of others did and became a full-time barber and auto mechanic. He settled in San Antonio, Texas and raised a large family. Four of his five sons, also served in the U.S. Army and Air Force and participated in the Vietnam War, Gulf War, and supporting combat operations forces around the world.
SAMUEL LOMBARDO: (U.S. Army World War II, Korea, and Vietnam) Lombardo was born on July 12, 1919, in Caraffa, Calabria, Italy. He arrived in the United States with his mother and two sisters on Oct. 3, 1929 to join his father in Altoona, Pennsylvania. Lombardo enlisted on Nov. 11, 1939 with the 110th Infantry Regiment, 28th Division, Pennsylvania National Guard as a Private and was then commissioned as an officer on July 14, 1942 at Fort Benning, Georgia. He then went on to serve with the 99th Infantry Division as Rifle Platoon Leader and Company Executive Officer during the Battle of the Bulge, Remagen Bridgehead, Ruhr Pocket, and Central European Campaigns. Under combat conditions, Lombardo and his men made an American flag, with whatever materials could be secured like pillowcases, curtains, and even a German surrender flag. It took the men approximately two-and-a-half months to complete the flag, which was finished by the time the men reached the Danube River. The 99th Division's "Old Glory" was the first American flag to cross the Remagen Bridge during the war and it is now on display at the National Infantry Museum at Fort Benning. Lombardo also received a Silver Star and Bronze Star with valor for his heroic actions during WWII.
CHARLES MCGEE: (U.S. Army Air Forces/U.S. Air Force, World War II, Korea, and Vietnam) McGee was born on Dec. 7, 1919 in Cleveland, Ohio. He enlisted in in the U.S. Army on Oct. 26, 1942 and became a part of the Tuskegee Airmen having earned his pilot's wings graduating from Class 43-F on June 30, 1943.  By Feb. 1944, McGee was stationed in Italy with the 302nd Fighter Squadron of the 332d Fighter Group. McGee flew the Bell P-39Q Airacobra, Republic P-47D Thunderbolt and North American P-51 Mustang fighter aircraft. His flew tactical missions attacking enemy airfields and rail yards and strategic missions escorting Consolidated B-24 Liberator and Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress bombers over Germany, Austria and the Balkans. On Aug. 23, 1944, while escorting B-17s over Czechoslovakia, McGee engaged a formation of Luftwaffe fighters and downed a Focke-Wulf Fw 190. Later that year he flew support for the successful top-secret rescue missions of over 1,000 POWs from the Popesti Aerodrome in Bucharest, Romania. Promoted to Captain, McGee had flown a total of 136 combat missions, and returned to the United States on Dec. 1, 1944. He became a North American B-25 Mitchell bomber instructor for the 477th Bombardment Group (Medium), another unit of the Tuskegee Airmen. He remained at Tuskegee Army Air Field until 1946, when the base was closed. Congress recently passed legislation authorizing McGee's honorary promotion to Brigadier General.
SIDNEY WALTON: (U.S. Army, World War II) Walton was born in New York City on Feb. 11, 1919. He enlisted in the Army in 1941 with the express purpose of "fighting Hitler" nine months before America entered WWII. He trained at Fort Dix in New Jersey; Fort Jackson in South Carolina; Camp Siebert in Alabama; Toccoa/Tallulah Falls in Georgia; and Camp Reynolds in Pennsylvania. Walton went on to fight in the CBI theater (China, Burma, India), 34th Infantry, 8th Division, and rose to the rank of Corporal. After the war ended, he returned to the U.S., got married, and raised a family in San Diego where he worked for the government as a chemical engineer. Walton always regretted not meeting some of the last Civil War veterans when he had a chance. To make up for that one regret, he wants to give everyone an opportunity to meet a WWII vet before they too disappear.  So, with his son Paul, he has embarked on a national "No Regrets Tour," visiting every state to raise awareness of the diminishing number of WWII veterans and the sacrifices they made and making himself available to millions of patriotic Americans. He is now more than halfway through his tour. In each of the 26 states he has visited, he was honored by the governor in the state capital. President Trump hosted Walton and his family in the Oval Office. He was also extremely proud to be onstage last year at the 75th Anniversary of Normandy. Sidney's website www.KeepSidneyGoing.com tells the full story of his extraordinary mission through pictures and videos.
Several other military members will be honored throughout Super Bowl week festivities. The NFL hosted Salute to Service Military Appreciation Day at Super Bowl Experience Presented by Lowe's on Wednesday, Jan. 29. The NFL and USAA announced that Los Angeles Chargers Legend DONNIE EDWARDS is the winner of the 2019 Salute to Service Award presented by USAA at NFL Honors, a two-hour primetime awards special to air nationally on Feb. 1, the eve of Super Bowl LIV, at 8 PM (ET and PT) on FOX. NFL Honors will be taped earlier that evening at the Adrienne Arsht Center in Miami. Created in 2011, the Salute to Service Award acknowledges the members of the NFL for their exemplary commitment to honoring and supporting the military community and their families.
The NFL has a longstanding history of supporting our Nation's service members. Each year, the NFL and its 32 teams come together to honor and support members of the military as part of the NFL's Salute to Service. The league's year-round military appreciation efforts culminate in November with NFL Salute to Service games and other special events honoring veterans, active duty service members and their families.
The NFL works with its core military nonprofit partners to show gratitude for all those who have served our country. The NFL, along with its partners, is proud to support the Bob Woodruff Foundation, Pat Tillman Foundation, TAPS, USO and Wounded Warrior Project, to fund programs and provide resources that positively impact veterans and active duty military members and their families. Since 2011, more than $34 million has been raised through Salute to Service to support the league's military nonprofit partners.

Guatemalan teen boy is latest migrant child to die in U.S. custody
Guatemalan teen boy is latest migrant child to die in U.S. custody By Graham Kates, Angel Canales Updated on: May 20, 2019 / 4:41 PM / CBS News Guatemalan migrant teen dies in U.S. custody A 16-year-old boy apprehended by U.S. Border Patrol was “found unresponsive” Monday morning in the facility where he was being held, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection. A Border Patrol official said Monday afternoon that the boy, Carlos Hernandez Vásquez, died hours after a nurse at a Border Patrol station in Weslaco, Texas, determined he had the Influenza A virus . Hernandez Vásquez was taken into custody after crossing the southern border in Texas’ Rio Grande Valley on May 13, among a group of 70 people, according to the agency. He was held at a processing facility for six days before being transferred Sunday to the Border Patrol station in Weslaco, where he spent his final day. Unaccompanied minors are typically transferred from Border Patrol to the Office of Refugee Resettlement within 72 hours. However, processing of Hernandez Vásquez’s transfer did not begin until May 16. The official did not indicate what caused the delay. More in Immigration That same day, Hernandez Vásquez was allowed to call members of his family to let them know of his status, the official said. On Sunday the boy said he felt ill, according to Border Patrol, and was prescribed Tamiflu. It is not clear why he was not brought to a hospital, or how frequently he was checked on during his final hours, but the official said a wellness check was performed one hour before the boy was found unresponsive Monday morning. Medical personnel at the facility were unable to revive him, the official said. In a statement to CBS News, the Guatemalan consulate called for an investigation into the death. The FBI, local police, and the Department of Homeland Security Inspector General are investigating, according to the Border Patrol official. “The Guatemalan Government regrets the death of this Guatemalan boy, presents his condolences to the family and urges that the US authorities urgently rule on the cause of death and deduct the responsibilities that merit the case,” the consulate said. Acting U.S. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner John Sanders said in a statement that the agency “is committed to the health, safety and humane treatment of those in our custody.” “The men and women of U.S. Customs and Border Protection are saddened by the tragic loss of this young man and our condolences are with his family,” Sanders said. The agency said the Department of Homeland Security Office of the Inspector General has been notified, as well as the Guatemalan government, and members of Congress. The boy is the fifth Guatemalan child to die since December after being apprehended at the U.S. border. In the most recent instance, a 2-and-a-half-year-old who was apprehended at the U.S.-Mexico border in El Paso in April died on May 14. A Customs and Border Protection (CBP) official familiar with the case told CBS News the family encountered Border Patrol agents at Paso Del Norte Bridge on April 3. Three days later, the child was hospitalized for an unspecified illness. The family was given a notice to appear in court and was released on their own recognizance April 8. Customs and Border Protection announces changes after 2nd migrant child death In another recent case, a 16-year-old boy died April 30 after being apprehended by border patrol agents near El Paso on April 19. The boy, Juan de León Gutiérrez, was sent to a Brownsville, Texas, facility for unaccompanied migrant children, where staff noticed a few days later that he appeared ill. He died nine days in a hospital bed. The Guatemalan Foreign Ministry said in a statement that Gutiérrez died from complications from an infection in his brain’s frontal lobe. There were also two children’s deaths in December. A 7-year-old girl, Jakelin Caal Maquin , died of a bacterial infection Dec. 8 after being in Border Patrol custody. And an 8-year-old boy, Felipe Gómez Alonzo , died on Christmas Eve. First published on May 20, 2019 / 1:29 PM © 2019 CBS Interactive Inc. All Rights Reserved. Modi’s cave has attached toilet, CCTVs, SPG
Sun, May 19, 2019 | Updated 10.33AM IST Full site Modi’s cave has attached toilet, CCTVs, SPG deployed outside Yogesh Kumar | TNN | Updated: May 19, 2019, 10:32 IST DEHRADUN: The modified cave situated near the Kedarnath shrine at 12,000 feet above the sea level, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi spent the Saturday night, is no ordinary cave. Built by cutting the rocks, the natural cave situated a kilometre ahead of the main shrine, has a well-lit room with an attached washroom, a window and over ten feet high ceiling. The cave offers a spectacular view of the ancient temple. On Saturday, after offering prayers and reviewing the redevelopment works, Modi was taken to the cave where he wanted to meditate and spend the night. A Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (NIM) official told TOI that the cave was ready much before the PM’s visit and all the arrangements, like power and water, were made. After months of cutting the rocks and stones, the cave was finally ready last year but was locked. To bolster security arrangements, the cave also has a CCTV system for the PM’s visit. The CCTV is being monitored by security personnel who are deployed outside the cave in a makeshift camp. Another district official told TOI, “The cave has room for one bed and open space on the ground for meditation. After the opening portion of the cave, comes the main door.”As soon as the PM entered the cave, his photographs in which he is seen wearing a saffron robe and meditating were shared on the social media. In one of the photographs, Modi with folded hands could be seen bowing toward the main temple. Bhagwat Bhagwari, a priest of the Kedarnath temple, said, “The PM’s decision to meditate in the cave near the Kedarnath temple would inspire lakhs of people to come here and meditate in this pious and serene atmosphere.” Download the Times of India News App for Latest City News. Stock market news: US stocks rally after Trump tempers his Huawei ban – Business Insider
Asian and European stocks and US futures rose on Tuesday after Trump tempered his Huawei ban. The Chinese telecoms giant can buy US products to maintain its networks and release software updates, but it can’t buy American components for new devices. “This latest move by Trump shows just how haphazard his policies are and also how pervasive Huawei goods and technology are,” said Jasper Lawler, head of research at London Capital Group. Asian and European stocks and US futures rose on Tuesday after US President Donald Trump tempered his Huawei ban, permitting US companies to do business with the Chinese telecoms titan for another three months. Huawei’s blacklisting hammered US companies that trade with it or rely on its services or equipment. For example, shares in chipmakers Qualcomm, Broadcom, Micron Technology, and Nvidia fell by more than 3% on Monday, sending the tech-heavy Nasdaq index down 1.5%. In response to the fallout, the US Commerce Department has granted Huawei a temporary license to buy US products to maintain its networks and release software updates for existing smartphones and tablets. However, Huawei is still banned from buying American components to manufacture new devices. “This latest move by Trump shows just how haphazard his policies are and also how pervasive Huawei goods and technology are,” said Jasper Lawler, head of research at London Capital Group. “Yesterday was a big reality check for Trump and shows the incomplete information available for his decision.” The Huawei ban came after Trump accused China of sabotaging a prospective trade deal , hiked tariffs on $200 billion worth of Chinese goods , and threatened to extend tariffs to a further $300 billion worth . China retaliated with higher tariffs on $60 billion worth of US goods . “Whether it’s Huawei or tariffs, I would see all of this in the broader context of giant tug-of-war between the two superpowers being played out in front our eyes,” said Neil Wilson, chief market analyst for Markets.com. “As such, the more this goes on the lower the chance of a meaningful resolution to any of it.” Here’s the market roundup as of 9.50 a.m. (4.50 a.m.): Asian indexes regained ground. The Shanghai Composite climbed 1.2%, the SZSE Component jumped 1.9%, and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng rose 1.3%. European equities opened higher with Germany’s DAX up 0.6%, Britain’s FTSE 100 up 0.5%, and the Euro Stoxx 50 up 0.4%. US stocks are set to open higher. The futures underlying the Dow Jones Industrial Average and S&P 500 rose 0.2%, while Nasdaq futures climbed 0.4%.

London has the highest vacancy rate in the country and the ability to lure health professionals from the Continent is seen as a vital in plugging workforce gaps and responding to the growing demand for NHS care. Concerns will increase over the impact of Brexit on the NHS after the latest UK statistics from the Nursing and Midwifery Council showed that the number of newly-registered nurses and midwives from the European Economic Area fell from 9,389 in 2015/16 to 968 in the year to March. London’s 13.5 per cent nursing vacancy rate is the highest in the NHS and means that 8,912 posts are unfilled, including 6,247 in acute hospitals and 1,994 mental health nurses. The NHS has 40,000 nursing vacancies. Problems are worst in the capital’s mental health sector, where 16.2 per cent of posts — nearly one in six — are unfilled. Almost a third of non-UK EU staff work in the London NHS. Mayor Sadiq Khan said: “Our NHS nurses provide incredible care in the toughest of circumstances. It’s an absolute disgrace that their work is being made much harder by chronic underfunding and under-staffing.” About 10,000 European nurses have left the NMC register since the 2016 referendum. More than half said Brexit was a key reason for departing. The latest statistics show, however, that the recruitment of EEA nurses in 2018/19 was slightly better than in 2017/18, when there were only 805 joiners. In addition, the number of leavers has slowed from 3,962 in 2017/18 to 3,333 in the last financial year. Overall, the capital’s nursing vacancy rate has reduced in the past two years from 14.4 per cent, meaning the number of vacant posts fell from 9,479 to 8,912. The overall size of the register, which gives the right to practise as a nurse in the private sector or NHS, has grown by 8,000 in the past year to 698,237, boosted by about 5,000 more UK-trained nurses, including 500 additional midwives, and about 3,000 from countries outside the EEA. There are almost 6,000 more nurses on the register since the referendum, but not all choose to practise. Saffron Cordery, deputy chief executive at NHS Providers, said: “It is striking that the number of EU nurses and midwifery staff coming to work in the UK following the EU referendum remains so low… We will need to see a mix of short-term and longer-term solutions, including the expansion of international recruitment and greater investment in NHS education and training places.”
This is what’s causing the latest bitcoin price surge
The price of bitcoin is up 48% in the past 30 days. Wondering what to make of the recent upswing? The ongoing U.S.-China trade war and a forthcoming cyclical halving in 2020 are two big reasons for the current rally, according to bitcoin bull Tom Lee, managing partner at Fundstrat Global Advisors. Digital gold? With volatility in global equities, cryptocurrency investors are looking to bitcoin ( BTC-USD ) as a safe haven investment, Lee told Yahoo Finance’s On the Move. “Interestingly,” he said, “in periods where people have been worried about markets, or macro risks, or policy, or geopolitical, we’ve seen bitcoin rally.” Bitcoin at the moment is truly acting like “digital gold,” offering an investment that avoids exposure to markets impacted by trade uncertainty, Lee said. Golden Bitcoins More 2020 bitcoin mining halving In addition to a bump from China trade concerns, bitcoin is also approaching a cyclical milestone. Every four years, the bitcoin blockchain — the decentralized payment rail that records all bitcoin transaction — undergoes a halving in which the reward for “miners” who record transactions on the blockchain gets cut in half as a means of limiting the creation of new bitcoins. Historically, the halving of the mining reward has been a catalyst for the price of bitcoin as supply tightens. “It’s exactly one year from today,” Lee said. “And bitcoin has historically staged a pretty big rally into the halving, because you’re really cutting supplies. So $9 million of day-to-day is sold by miners. It’s going to drop to $4.5 million on the halving date.” As for where the bitcoin price is headed next, Lee sees an upward trend: “You know, it’s easy for the market to absorb $4.5 million, so bitcoin should drift up dramatically. And you know, if you look at break evens, you know, bitcoin price to break even should you know — should be around $14,000 now. So I think that’s why we’ve had this big rally.” Bitcoin recently cracked the $8,000 level for the first time in over a year, doubling its gains. But the current level is still a far cry from the December 2017 all-time high of nearly $20,000. Yvette Killian is a producer for Yahoo Finance’s On The Move. Q&A: The Estefan’s ‘On Your Feet’
The Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts is pleased to announce that the West Palm Beach engagement of the hit Broadway musical On Your Feet! – based on the life story of seven-time Grammy winning international superstar Gloria Estefan and her husband, 19-time Grammy winning producer-musician-entrepreneur Emilio Estefan  will be playing from Jan 8-13.
Gloria Estefan has sold over 100 million records and sold out stadiums around the world. Emilio and Gloria Estefan together have won 26 Grammy Awards – but their music is only half the story. From the heart of Havana to the streets of Miami came a cultural phenomenon unlike anything the music industry had ever seen.  On Your Feet! is the new Broadway musical that follows the Estefans’ journey to superstardom, set to their chart-topping, smash hits, including “Rhythm Is Gonna Get You,” “Conga,” “1-2-3,” “Get On Your Feet,” “Mi Tierra,” Don’t Want To Lose You Now,” and “Reach,” in addition to an original song written by Gloria and her daughter Emily Estefan.
On Your Feet! is directed by two-time Tony Award winner Jerry Mitchell (Kinky Boots, Hairspray) and choreographed by Tony Award nominee & Olivier Award winner Sergio Trujillo (Jersey Boys, Memphis), with an original book by Academy Award winner Alexander Dinelaris (Birdman, The Bodyguard Musical).
On Your Feet! began performances on Broadway on Monday, October 5, 2015, and played 780 performances. It is now touring the country. It was a pleasure to sit down and talk with ensemble member,  Gabriel Reyes,  for this exclusive Hotspots Interview.

When did the performing bug take a hold of you?
At the age of 19. I was just getting out of high school and going to college. I was originally going to major in criminal justice, but then I saw some shows and changed my mind.
What was your first professional/paid gig?
My first professional gig was a drag show. A friend of a friend told me they needed a male dance in drag and I took it. I got paid $500.
When did you know it would be your career?
I knew it when I saw some of my friends become successful. They were so happy doing what they love, and that’s when I decided I need to make it my career because I loved it also.
How did you get cast in On Your Feet?
I saw the show eight times on Broadway and then I auditioned seven times. A year went by and I didn’t hear anything. One night I was watching RuPaul’s Drag Race and eating Doritos with my b/f and I got an email to see if I was interested in joining, and the rest is history.
How did you meet?
We met about 1 ½ years ago in Provincetown where we did a show together. He is also a dancer/performer. We originally were just friends, but almost immediately started dating.
Besides this role, what has been your favorite role?
Nothing beats the show that I am in right now. I truly love it.
What’s your dream role?
I’m really new to the whole musical theater genre, so I am going to guess it would be amazing to be in Kinky Boots or Aladdin.
What should our readers expect from the touring company of On Your Feet?
You should expect a whole lot of fun, and super high energy, as this musical makes you get up “On Your Feet.” It makes you want to laugh, smile, cry, and feel united. The message is we are all the same, we are all doing it together and we are here to spread love and be ourselves.

Celebrate the Magic of December in Charleston!
Tumblr media
Whether it’s a Christmas performance, holiday market, or beautiful lights, Charleston offers many ways for the whole family to celebrate the 2018 season. Here’s just a sample...
The Holiday Festival of Lights at the James Island County Park
The James Island County Park Festival of Lights is a memory-making event for the whole family. Drive three miles through the park and be treated to more than 2 million sparkling and colorful lights in 750 displays ranging from Santa’s toyland to candy canes and gingerbread men. After the ooh and aah car ride, be sure to park and explore the Winter Wonderland. Kids can visit Santa, take a ride on the carousel, stop for hot chocolate, or roast marshmallows at one of the roasting stations. Adults will enjoy the gift shop that offers handmade gifts and Santa’s Sweet Shoppe for hand-dipped chocolate and fresh-baked goods. Oh, and don’t forget the walk along an enchanted trail where fairies buzz through the light-drenched trees; a holiday-themed sandcastle crafted from more than 50 pounds of sand; and a festival train to view the lights close up. Various musical performances will keep festival-goers in a merry mood. It’s $20 per car 5:30-10:00 Thursday through Sunday and $15 per car 5:30-11:00 Monday-Thursday with donation of canned food item or dog/cat food. Through Dec 31. www.holidayfestivaloflights.com
Holiday Market at the Charleston Farmers Market
Grab a cup of coffee or hot apple cider as you stroll through the food and gift booths in Marion Square for one-of-a-kind holiday market. Soak in the splendor of the 64-foot Holiday tree and enjoy children’s and church choirs, storytellers, and other performers. The park is kid and pet friendly and beautifully decorated - where else do you see tall palms with so many lights? Saturdays and Sundays, 9 am to 3 pm through Dec 17. www.charlestonfarmersmarket.com
The Sound of Charleston ... From Gospel to Gershwin - Holiday Specials
The beautiful Circular Congregational Church in downtown Charleston hosts 75 minutes of live music, including holiday tunes, that helped define Charleston’s rich heritage. As you listen to performances that range from Civil War ballads to gospel spirituals to Gershwin - you can’t help but appreciate the magnificence and history of the setting - the church, founded in 1681, is one of the oldest continuously worshipping congregations in the South. She loved her bead class at the Senior Center where she was working on making Chrismons for the family. She squeezed lots of living out of her ninety years here on earth. Hester was loved by all and will be greatly missed.
