playing match-maker with professor!gojo satoru—”we can’t mind our business!” [nxt]

teaching is incredibly rewarding. nothing beats the sense of fulfillment that comes with educating the next generation—it gives you a sense of purpose and makes you feel like a contributing member of society. but recently, you've developed a guilty pleasure, an unhealthy vice. 

because, in truth, what you really find rewarding isn’t teaching. it’s the juicy gossip you share with your colleague, gojo satoru. 

it started innocently enough—quick whispers and passing speculations about students during breaks. then it escalated to frantic texts about classroom dramas. now, it’s a full-blown routine: coordinating your lunch breaks to debrief over an aptly chosen herbal tea at the café across the street.

gojo, the physics professor, is an instigator by nature. unfairly brilliant and chronically bored, he’s always looking for ways to entertain himself. you, an english professor with a manageable workload, were the perfect partner in crime. together, you’ve meddled in your students’ lives, and your escapades have become something of a shared hobby.

his preferred method of meddling is match-making, and to your credit you guys have had one successful match:

juniors, kasumi miwa and kokichi muta.

sweet, hardworking miwa was one of your favorite students, always putting extra effort into your creative writing assignments. muta, (aptly nick-named mechamaru) is a genius with mechanics and the president of the robotics club. gojo taught him quantum physics and claimed he was one of the sharpest students he’d ever met.

it started with a haiku.

you’d assigned miwa’s class a poetry assignment, and her submission, though simplistic, immediately caught your attention:

I may not love science, I can’t bring machines to life, yet I yearn for you.

if that wasn’t enough, there were faintly erased doodles of robots holding hands in the margins of her submitted assignments. around the same time, gojo noticed muta sitting strategically in his class so he could be visible through the window into yours. he angled his notes just enough to display his complex equations—clearly trying to impress miwa.

the moment you pieced it together, you texted gojo:

dr. gojo satoru: no way, her haiku is basically screaming I love him

you: lmao I asked her about the inspiration, and she said, “just a friend”

dr. gojo satoru: she’s gonna move on if we don’t act now!

you: what if we double-book office hours for them? “accidentally,” of course

dr. gojo satoru: omg brilliant, drafting the email rn XD

the plan worked. you and gojo “accidentally” scheduled them for office hours at the same time, then conveniently left them alone. miwa, stumped by an intentionally tricky writing assignment, was soon receiving help from muta. numbers were exchanged, tutoring sessions turned into hangouts, and four months later, they were officially dating.

now, every month, gojo extorts a cream puff from muta as a “thank you” for the setup from the pricey bakery downtown. you pretend to disapprove but always end up splitting the treat.

which brings you to your current predicament. you and gojo are locked in a heated debate about which first-year students to set up next. gojo insists itadori yuji and kugisaki nobara are the ideal pair, but you’re convinced yuji and fushiguro megumi are better suited. gojo’s conviction runs so deep he swears it’s ingrained in on an atomic level.

so to raise the stakes, gojo has wagered his louis vuitton messenger bag (est. value: $3k), while you’ve offered up your earnings from the third installment of your self-published ya novel (est. value: $4k). and yes, the fact that those numbers are so close in value is embarrassing.

desperate to prove each other wrong, you agree to consult your colleagues.

prof. getou suguru left the chat.

though getou pretends to be above your antics, he shows up to join you in gojo’s office later, coffee in hand and smirking. he brushes a finger across the desk and frowns at the dust.

“if I were willing to entertain your ridiculous game—which I’m not—I’d say megumi and yuji are the better match,” he declares, smugly.

he strolls to the whiteboard, sliding his glasses down from his forehead to settle over his eyes, his black bangs falling neatly into place, and begins sketching a diagram:

utilitarianism: will the act ultimately result in the best overall results—maximizing utility?

• megumi x yuji: opposing personalities balance each other out, ultimately improving their weaknesses. ↳ e.g. megumi silences yuji when he talks over the lecture, while yuji incites megumi to participate more during group projects, increasing his participation.

• nobara x yuji: similar personalities embolden bad habits, ultimately leading to chaos. ↳ e.g. nobara and yuji are rarely late individually, but when they hang out, they end up coming to class late, usually carrying coffee, and snacks.

getou pops the cap back on and crosses his arms, “I rest my case.”

you cheer while gojo groans, insisting getou’s biased.

determined to recruit an ally, gojo drags you to statistics professor nanami kento, the epitome of calm professionalism. confident in his plan, gojo smirks and declares, “once nanami agrees with me, the resident genius, your theory will come to a grinding halt—no momentum, no inertia, just friction stopping you in your tracks.”

nanami’s sitting at his desk engrossed in grading assignments when you all appear in the doorframe. his brown oxfords shined, speckled tie flung loose over his shoulder.

when he notices your presence, he pointedly checks his watch before stating, “you’ve got ten minutes, for,” he gestures, “whatever this is, I leave at six.”

you explain the predicament and nanami rolls his eyes, rubbing at his temples like he’d just got a headache. “sounds like simple probability, for example,” he rises to pick up a piece of chalk from his blackboard:

he draws a number here, a letter there—the equation is getting increasingly hard to follow, even gojo looks dumbfounded. 

“two, carry the one. and you get…” he starts completing the result:

he deadpans, the mirth visible in his eyes, “you guys really thought I’d help you with your childish endeavor, has anyone ever told you to simply just mind your own.”

you huff out offended, “we can’t mind our business! come on, don’t be like that. aren’t you close with yuji, being his advisor and all, you should want the best for him!”

nanami sighs, glancing down again at his watch. five more minutes. he approaches you and flips open his phone, scrolling for a couple seconds. 

“here look,” he tilts the screen showing a text thread with yuji:

itadori yuji (freshman): sensei can I ask you something?

nanami k.: what can I do for you itadori? 

itadori yuji (freshman): you know how I’m undeclared? well, I love spending time with friends. is it okay for their interests to influence my major?

nanami k.: while the choice should ultimately be your decision itadori, it is only natural that your environment and experiences influence the line of thinking that leads to that decision. which of your peers have you found most influential? 

itadori yuji (freshman): I don’t wanna say because I don’t think they realize how much I look up to, and respect them. I’m scared I’ll psyche them out. but they’re terrific: driven, independent, and forthright.

nanami k.: well if those traits are any indicator they seem like a strong, positive influence to your academics.

you finish reading and you all share a look. you start, “okay so, I think I’m confident that with yuji’s messages in mind, we all think, no, are certain, that yuji’s ideal match is…”

“megumi!”

“nobara.”

“megumi!”

“nobara!”

and so, you once again, begin considering who might be the next best person to consult for an additional perspective.

Money In The Bank is right around the corner. Of course it was a huge deal to you, because it's happening in your city. Also, being a top star in NXT & making it to the main roster with your friends Bianca Belair, Damian Priest & Rhea Ripley, you wanted to make it big on the main roster & have your moment.

Tonight was a big night for you as you had your Women's Money In The Bank qualifying match against Zelina Vega & Iyo Sky. Just like you, both ladies were hella talented & amazing. But, you didn't want to doubt yourself. You still fought hard & ended up qualifying for the Women's MITB Ladder match & couldn't be any happier. Both ladies congratulated you backstage, you thanked them and praised how amazing they were in the ring. You freshened up after the match, got dressed up and went to catering to have a post-match meal.

Walking in, you saw your bestie Bianca with the Street Profits & B-Fab sitting at one of the tables. The EST saw you & cheered "There she is!! Our Future Miss Money In The Bank!" causing the Street Profits & B-Fab to cheer as well, making everyone turn their heads. You loved her, but hated the attention from others the cheering caused. You went over to their table & sat down.

"Thanks y'all, but I wouldn't be too sure. The line up looks pretty good & any of these ladies could win. I mean, Chelsea Green, Zoey Stark, Tiffany Stratton, Naomi & Lyra. I'm nothing in front of them." Causing Bianca to roll her eyes "girl, are you doubting yourself again? Uh uh, you got this! We literally grew up together & you're a bad bitch in that ring! I know you." "You're gonna kick ass out there! It's your time to shine!" said Montez giving you a first bump. "Uh oh" said Dawkins looking towards the entrance. "What's up?" asked Tez. B-Fab followed Angelo's gaze & her eyes widened. "Alright, y'all are acting like you saw a ghost, let me see-oh shit! Here comes trouble" he said mirroring the same reaction as B-Fab.

You & Bianca turned around & saw the group of men walking in, wearing all black. Yup, it was them The Bloodline. Although, this one seemed more intimidating, no Roman, no Usos, and sadly poor Paul got triple power bombed by the group at the end of the show. This version was serious, now Solo Sikoa was taking over as the leader, calling himself 'The Tribal Chief .' He had his cousin Jacob Fatu whom he recruited last week from the Indies & the two Tongans from New Japan Pro-Wrestling, Tama Tonga & Tonga Loa.

Yup, they were a dangerous bunch. You were a bit terrified by them, especially seeing them jump the roster after Roman & Jimmy left. You even got along with the original members of The Bloodline & had get togethers with them since Naomi is also like a sister to you. You spoke to Solo once in awhile too, but that changed after Roman left & he stopped talking to you. Somehow there was a certain member of the group whom you couldn't keep your eyes off of, Tonga Loa.

Something about him was different to you. You've watched a few matches of him during his run in New Japan; he seemed to have a different aura & wasn't all over the place like his brother & the other Bloodline members. You've seen his Instagram as well, he was always smiling so bright & posting up with his dog, nephews, nieces, friends, family & even Krispy Kreme. You felt like he had a bright personality under that mysterious one. You were getting lost looking at him while he was grabbing food & chatting with Solo at the Buffet, until a body stepped in front of the pair & snapped its fingers at you.

Your gaze broke off & you looked up to see his older brother Tama giving you a stern look, cocking his eyebrow at you. He wasn't impressed. "Whatchu looking at little girl?" Loa & Solo stopped talking & turned their attention to you. Your face burned up & you felt embarrassed that he called you out like that. The room went quiet. Bianca scooted her chair closer to you in case you needed backup, you were a sister to her & she knew their game, they've messed with her husband & his friends & she wasn't gonna let them mess with you.

You felt the tension in the room rise & finally replied "nothing...I was just looking at the food being served today. I haven't eaten yet so I was curious-" "Bullshit!" He cut you off, "I know you weren't looking at the food, you were looking at my little toko, what's your deal huh? Hasn't anyone told you, it's not polite to stare? What do you want from him?" "Tama, shut up!" yelled Bianca "leave my sis alone! She ain't done nothing wrong. She was just minding her own business until you came yapping along. Not everything is about y'all" Tama widened his eyes at her. "Toko...it's okay! Take it easy!" said Loa while putting a hand on Tama's shoulder.

Montez stood up in front of him "Boy, what the f-ck is your problem? She can look wherever she wants, it's a free country. What are you gonna do? Fine her? The girl just wanted some dang food & y'all are in her way." That's when Solo stepped in; you knew it was about to go down, he spoke "Oh, so it's our fault now?! Why doesn't she be woman & come & get it herself?" Angelo stood up "Aye! The woman can also make decisions for herself too & the last person she needs advice is from someone who dresses up like The Weeknd every week." Everyone bursted out laughing. Solo looked embarrassed.

You swore you saw Loa trying not to laugh, and quickly looked away. That's when Jacob came in & stepped in front of Angelo in Solo's defense, "Oh, so you think you're funny big guy? How about we settle this?" "I'd love to see you try." he challenged. You realized this isn't gonna end well, you didn't want to see Angelo getting hurt because of you. You quickly stepped in between Angelo & Jacob "please, don't fight. If you want to, do it in the ring or something next week, but not here. Tonga Loa, I'm so sorry if it looked like I was staring, I wasn't. I should've gotten my food as soon as I got here. I'm sorry it looked that way," you pleaded.

He gave you a look which looked sorry, was he feeling sympathetic towards you? " You have nothing to apologize for Y/N" he said. " WHAT?! Are you feeling sorry for her?!" questioned Tama. "It's okay bro, just leave it. She just wanted food. You're making something out of nothing. We don't need to get banned from catering again. Let's just go & eat, I'm hungry." said Loa, leading his brother away from the scene & towards a table on the far end. Solo gave everyone a warning glare & followed the brothers. Jacob gave Angelo one last look "see you in the ring next week." he said before walking away with his group.

Angelo smirked at him. "Oh my God Angelo, are you okay? I'm so sorry y'all. It's all my fault!" you cried. Angelo hugged you "sis, it's okay. We'll be okay. We're a family remember? Tama's the one who caused this shit & me & Tez wanna teach him another lesson, this one's for messing with you. We'll be okay. Just keep your distance from them, okay?" He assured as he rubbed your back. You nodded, you were so worried about him & Montez. "Will y'all be okay?" asked Bianca hugging her husband. "We'll be good, they need their asses kicked good. We'll have back up too. KO is here so we'll be even" said Montez earnings smiles from you & his wife.

"Y/N, you didn't eat anything" said B-Fab. "You know what? I'll grab Sushi on the way back. I'm not that hungry. Plus, I don't want to eat here. The energy is pretty off " you answered. "True, let me & Binky take you to that sushi bar around the corner. Get all the Cali rolls to celebrate the big win tonight, my treat. Go pack your things & we'll meet you at the car." said Tez. "I still think you should grab a snack, something to occupy your stomach on the way there, cause your qualifying match was brutal. You must be starving" said Bianca.

Bianca & Montez are like the big brother & sister you never had, they cared about you so much just as much as you did for them, you were grateful for them. You nodded & thanked them & went towards the buffet table, grabbed a paper plate & placed some spring rolls. B-Fab came up to you putting both of her hands on the sides of your arms, holding in you place. She glanced behind you, and quickly looked back at you & whispered "Girl, I know you're pissed off at them cause of what they did, but Loa won't stop looking at you ever since you got up from our table." Your eyes widened, you gotta admit you liked him even more after he calmed his Gremlin brother down when he went berserk on you for no reason. "B, I gotta tell you something, but not here." you said. You looked over towards Bianca & The Street Profits who were talking to Jade Cargill. You snuck a look towards the Bloodline's table to see Loa quickly turning his head away from looking at you & to his family who were too occupied in the conversation & their food to notice him looking anymore.

You grabbed her hand and lead her to your locker room. You shut the door, "Okay, I don't know how to tell you this, but I really like him. I just don't know if he feels the same. But, you caught him looking at me." B-Fab, raised her brows in response "I had a feeling you did girl, you were staring at him in catering weren't you?" She teased, you blushed in response & nodded. "But what will Bianca & Tez say? They can't stand The Bloodline & The Bloodline can't stand us either. Plus, the way Tama was being a dick to you for just looking at him? They're dangerous." she said. "I know." you frowned "that's the sad part, his family seems to hate me. Solo & I were chill too until Roman left. I guess it's whatever. He'll probably find someone else who's better. Someone that they'll all accept & like & get her to manage The Bloodline." you sighed.

She placed a reassuring hand on your shoulder, "don't feel that way, you're gorgeous girl. Any guy would be lucky to have you. It's just a matter of time, maybe they'll turn babyface a year later? Then we can forget about it all." she laughed. "Yeah, in 50 years." you joked "you're gorgeous too by the way." she smiled "thanks, you eat your snacks, get packing & we'll meet you at the parking lot." she hugged you & left.

You finished your spring rolls & took a while to pack, you were the type of person who would bring everything with you not to only help yourself, but others so you didn't want to lose anything. You finally packed up your things & hurried out to leave the arena, you didn't want Bianca & Tez to wait any longer, note to self you need to treat them for putting up with you. The arena was mostly empty by now as the show ended,it was mostly just the backstage crew & tech packing up. You were nearing the exit when you heard a familiar voice call out your name. You froze, could it be him?

what has been happening in the world of motorsports?

it's very long, so all updates and rumours are under the cut

DRIVERS (and others) MARKET

Esteban will leave Alpine at the end of the year (he will confirm his future in f1 „soon“)

Checo Perez got a contract extension in RBR for 2025 and 2026 (meaning that yes, he will be in the team for the first year of new rules)

since there are whispers about Newey already being signed for Ferrari, there are also rumours about Enrico Cardile looking at potential offers (like the one from Aston Martin) as his role could be diminished by Newey coming

very much a rumour (by DailyMail as well) but Ollie to Haas has been confirmed by them

Yuki extended his contract with RB for 2025 season

FIA passed the rule that drivers can be 17 to achieve Superlicence needed for outing in F1 and the only person it could probably apply to right now is Kimi Antonelli who turns 18 in August, so we may see him in an F1 car sooner than that (on the other hand it can also apply to the FP1 junior outing as well)

another thing that supports is are quotes from Toto (that they told Carlos they want to focus on young drivers and he understood) and form James Vowles (that Carlos is their main target for signing)

there are also unconfirmed rumours that Williams offered Carlos a 4 year deal (2 years with 2 years extension possibility) and that the deal could get announced around Barcelona GP

Guanyu is rumoured to look into Alpine seat possibility (remember he was in their junior academy)

Horner cleared up that the new contract extension for Checo is not actually 2 year but rather 1+1

Sauber (or rather Audi) signed Stefano Sordo as performance director in preparation for 2026

Adam Kenyon has been promoted to Head of Aero of Williams and according to James Vowles he has been with he team since 2021 and was “quietly promoted” in March this year already, they just didn’t announce it with a lot of noise

there are reports that Ferrari dropped the negotiations with Newey around Monaco and since he visited Aston Martin factory

Helmut Marko confirmed that if they cannot find a seat for Liam Lawson for 2025 he has a clause in his contract making him a free agent open to all the teams

Montoya said that Logan already has been told he won’t continue racing for Williams in 2025 and this is what is behind his bad results this year (but when does anyone listen to what Montoya says anyway)

Jamie Chawdick became the first ever female to win an Indy NXT race (after also becoming the first female pole sitter)

after Este speaking about getting dead threats, the same happened to Theo Pourchaire in IndyCar for a crash during Detroit GP (Arrow McLaren stood behind him, the same cannot be said about Alpine)

on the other hand… um. he was hired after David Malukas got injured and he was supposed to drive for the rest of the season, and now they fired him and hired Nolan Siegel instead after he apparently just posted about being excited to drive this upcoming weekend (nobody speak to me about how Ferrari treats Carlos for not extending his contract when you see this please)

Marc Marquez will join Bagnaia in Ducati for 2025 in MotoGP

Arthur Leclerc won his first race with his Scuderia Baldini and rest of the team in GT3 series (with a car sponsored by LEC which based on his race suit is his personal sponsor)

Ferrari won 24 hours of Le Mans AGAIN for the second year in row, this time with car #50 and car #51 coming in p3 for a double podium (Nyck de Vries was p2 with Toyota, Ferrari #83 was running in contention for a win or podium at least until the engine died, Alpine suffered double DNF with both cars)

McLaren reserve driver Hirakawa tested MCL36 yesterday

Jack Doohan did his FP1 session for Alpine in Esteban’s car in Canada and coincidentally Bruno Famin (Alpine TP spoke about him being on their list for the 2025 Alpine seat)

Ollie Bearman will be doing another FP1 session in Nico’s car in Barcelona for Haas

the 2026 rules were announced by FIA: cars will be narrower and shorter and lighter, DRS will be replaced by MOM (manual overtake mode) which just sounds like push to pass tbh as it gives you more energy for some time, there will be new aero modes – basically active aero parts (so again similar to DRS but both on front and rear wing and those will be manually activated and it won’t be depended on how close you are to the car in front) and there are new safety measures with stronger hoop after Guanyu’s crash in Silverstone and better/more lights for visibility and of course no front wheel deflectors thank god, there will be less ground effect and less exhaust engine power with electric engine adding more power

FE also will get some new rules: new gloves with better protection (after a series of hand injuries with current generation of cars) and same rules as in F1 about superlicence were updated

side note many F1 team principals apparently already protested certain parts of the new rules (and also some drivers, Lando said that fans can forget about more than one team running for a victory with new rules and George said it could be dangerous with crazy speeds on straights and very slow ones in turns)

also Domenicali admitted that these regs might be the last with hybrid cars, instead they would focus on 100% sustainable fuels and better “traditional” sound and lighter cars in the upcoming years after that

oh and Newey spoke about the new regs as well and said that FIA was “heavily influenced by one or two manufacturers” when making 2026 technical regulations

and Mercedes and Renault are against alternations to the agreed engine regulations for 2026

Ferrari tested the 2025 Pirelli tyres in Mugello last week

FIA is thinking of doing two sets of testings (instead of just three days like it was in recent years, doing 6 of them instead) which would probably be 3 days in Barcelona and 3 days in Bahrain for 2026 as the teams would need to collect more data with the new regulations coming into place

F1 TEAMS

the investigation against Stake Kick Sauber F1 Team in Switzerland was dropped “after determining that Sauber’s international presence and the inaccessibility of Stake’s services in Switzerland rendered the sponsorship compliant with regulations”

formulauno reports that Ferrari’s Imola upgrade package cost them about 35% of development budget, so more big changes were meant come in Silverstone but the team pushed forward and is expected to bring them in Barcelona already (so maybe new floor? maybe diffusor area where we lose a lot to RBR?) – this upgrade package could be fit to both cars depending on how they do (and if they can do 3 copies)

Mercedes should also bring new floor to Spain with more gains expected from them, Red Bull, VCARB and McLaren are also expected to bring some upgrades

Williams had a fanzone in Montreal and opened another in Barcelona

Red Bull is apparently asking for legality check of the front wings of Mercedes (and probably McLaren and Ferrari and there is a speculation that Aston Martin has a similar front wing in works)

there are speculations about Renault dropping out of F1 after rumours that Alpine is asking for possibility of Red Bull Powertrains as their engine supplier from 2026 onwards

speaking for Alpine, they had some upgrades that obviously helped them quite a lot, but according to Esteban, they have been swapping one chassis (the older one) that is 3kgs heavier and he had it since Miami and he expects them to swap it for the rest of the whole season…

Zak Brown was saying how RBR is toxic right now and he expects more people to leave them

Mercedes is under a wave of criticism because they kind of erased Lewis’ trophy from Chinese sprint from this year on social media (person opinion: I don’t think it was purposeful maybe but definitely very unfortunate under the current circumstances)

slight drama with Alpine (again) from Canada: despite starting much lower with the overweight chassis and grid drop penalty from Monaco, Esteban was running in front of Pierre towards the end of the GP and the team asked him to swap with Pierre who was behind, Esteban didn’t want to but after a lap or so he let Pierre in front, at the end of the race when Pierre couldn’t catch up with Daniel in front, Esteban asked if they can swap back like usual and got negative response

also McLaren could have won the race in Canada and fumbled it because they didn’t call Lando to pit although he was in front of the pit entry when the safety car came out (so it wasn’t bad luck with safety car as some fans called)

RB or VCARB or whatever will be changing their name again because it is pretty confusing right now (Horner said that when they called Yuki about his contract extension with RB he was hopeful for a second that RB means Red Bull)

it is in the stage of rumour for now BUT Alpine is apparently looking for a way out of the deal with Renault as it is open secret they make the weakest power unit out of all factory teams and instead is looking for a new engine supplier to become a customer team (also there is a rumour that this and the fact that Flavio Briatore has been linked to the team are the main reasons that Esteban was looking for a way out), there is also a real concern of selling the team (to Andretti for example) but  Renault CEO said that won’t be happening

F1 DRIVERS

Charles invested in Chrono24 which is marketplace for luxury watches (funny side note: Christiano Ronaldo invested in the same company last year)

Charles was the first torch bearer of Olympic flame as it passed through Monaco, making him second F1 driver to do so after Lewis (and Nico Rosberg was there in the crowd to watch Charles lol)

How did I meet my husband, you ask? God, this is something I never get tired of talking about. Phil and I crossed paths in NXT. And when I say cross paths, I mean, I was in the ring talking and he was on commentary. 2010. That night was interesting and I had no idea it was going on until after the fact. At the top of the broadcast, apparently, Phil said that if Josh Matthews was picking me as the winner of NXT, I had no hope. I mean, I didn't really have any hope but that wasn't because of Josh Matthews. He later continued to praise me in the ring while shutting down Josh for asking stupid questions. To be fair, we were Divas and no one wanted to watch us.

Then at the end of the show, I had to cut a promo about caffeine and let's just say, I am natural dynamite, and Phil really loved that. It wasn't until I was called up to the live shows that I saw him again. Actually, the first time I heard his name was when Fit Finlay pulled me aside asking I had my gear on me. I said I did and asked why and he told me that I can thank Punk for it. He had an arm wrestling contest with Fit and he won. The best was that I would make my first official in-ring debut in the WWE. I was in and out of the brands for a year or so until I actually came up through the Smackdown brand to be Daniel Bryan's girlfriend. Originally, they wanted me with Daniel and they were going to make us a nerdy power couple. By this point, Punk had become a mentor to me at work. My first day on the road, as I walked into catering, with the same insecurity and nerves of a new student walking into the school cafeteria, he had called me over. I had never met him, only heard stories of him being a mercurial curmudgeon, so naturally I was surprised. The simple act of inviting me to sit down eat his table alleviated so much stress of finding somewhere to fit in on the road. "Let me know if anyone fucks with you, Kiddo." "Kiddo" was an annoying moniker he gave me to remind me that I was about a decade younger than him. In turn, I gave him the nickname "Grandpa". While I completed on NXT, he provided sage advice and encouragement. As said earlier in this post, he delivered color commentary for the show and always made sure to "put me over" or speak fondly of me, while ruthlessly mocked the rest of the girls. I think he was indignant about the fact that while the other commentators audibly drooled over there est of the contestants, they would only mention that I was diminutive and scrawny. His words of support of different kinds of beauty and it let me know that he had my back. When we started working together, our dynamic became that of a big brother and little sister. We had practically nothing in common besides the love of comic books and belief that marriage was a ridiculous societal expectation, but we could talk for hours. We would seek advice from each other about the people we were in relationships with and share horrifying dating stories. Through these stories we learned each other's flaws, mistakes, and embarrassing pasts. But neither of us went running in the other direction. We apparently didn't scare so easy. He would bring me Starbucks coffee every day at work and mock me for being a chubster who always wanted extra whipped cream. This would soon be how he listed me in his phone: "Extra Whip." Because as he explained, it represented how I Was smart and feisty and also kind of a cow. He remained listed as "Grandpa" in mine. When we realized that we both had a bipolar parent, it connected us even more strongly. If I needed someone to talk to when I was frustrated about still having to support my family while trying to save money for my future, Phil would meet me at a Denny's at 2 AM and listen. When I was frustrated with work, I would call him from my hotel and he would listen to me whine over the phone for hours.

Our ability to trust in each other made sense. We had both grown up in impoverish, chaotic homes and used wrestling to pull ourselves out. We had both spent the majority of our adult lives trying to undo the handiwork of our parents. We put our guards up around most people, having learned the hard way that not everyone could be trusted. We were both independent after earning everything for ourselves in life. Neither of us was prototypical, and though we were underdogs, we came out on top.

As our friendship grew closer, we simultaneously began fighting a lot. The most trivial things would send us at each other's throats. "Why did you leave the building without saying good-bye to me?" he once furiously texted me before ignoring me for a week. But no matter what random nonsense was causing us to fight like cats and substantially older cats, if I needed a shoulder to cry on, the spat would be dropped and he would be there for me.

So when it came time in our story to smash faces together on screen was going to be awkward as hell. The first time, it really did feel like I was about to kiss my brother. But it was quick and simple, and before I knew it, I had thrown him through a table, so I felt fine.

The next day at work, I was feeling pretty confident about having closed the show the night before with such a dramatic, high-octane scene. I had already kissed a plethora of guys on screen and figured that must've been the last. I was also really intrigued to see where the story would be headed. Running into one of the writers, I got the vibe I was about to be disappointed.

"Are we doing anything fun today?" I hopefully asked. "Depends on your definition of fun," he hesitantly responded. "Oh, god. Do I have to kiss a guy again?" "Not exactly," he said. A sense of relief began to sweep over me until "You'll be kissing two. One after the other."

While waiting in Gorilla, the control room situated directly outside the on camera entrance to the ring, Phil could see my trepidation. The story called for me to break up a fight between Bryan and Phil, who had both previously ignored me. First, I was to plant one on Bryan, and as Phil walked away, stop him by laying one on him. For those keeping score, I am somebody's daughter.

"You look like you're gonna throw up. I'm not that gross kiddo." Phil was relishing how much I wanted to set myself ablaze.

"I'm fine; I'm always nervous before I go out there. But, yes. You are gross." Is this what having a stroke feels like?

"It'll be okay. Just make sure you rock my world."

"You're not funny and you're not a nice person." I desperately tried to turn my attention to someone else, anyone else. I successfully began a conversation with a writer, when Phil leaned in interrupting. "You never know, you could be he one." I froze, suddenly out of comebacks. The segment had gone off flawlessly. The Bryan smooch was out of the way and now I only needed to quickly smash my face on Phil's again, like we had been clearly instructed. Specifically, Phil was supposed to stand with his arms extended as if I were a sexual predator and he were screaming for help. I held my breath as I ran after an exiting Phil. He scratched his head and began walking up the ramp, his back to me. Dismounting from the ring apron to the mat below, I was sure my knees would buckle beneath me. As he moved farther away, I reached out and grabbed his wrist. Using his arm as a pivot, I swung his body around, forcing us to be face-to-face. His character was frustrated and confused and began to ask me what it was I wanted his attention for. I lunged forward, pulling his face to my minuscule height, and placed my lips on his shutting him up. And then something happened.

We're kissing! We're not supposed to be kissing! is all my brain screamed out.

I steadied myself by grabbing his neck and considered pulling away to save the integrity of the segment. 'Just get out now, it'll be sort of what they wanted. OK, one...two...is that his fucking tongue?!'

There is an unwritten rule in on-screen kisses; no goddamn tongue. Tongue makes the moment too intimate, too real. For a moment I felt violated. Then I was infuriated. Then I was immediately very okay with it. Phil put his arm around my waist and pulled me tight to his body. I clawed at his shoulder. Every single person in that building disappeared. It was the best kiss of my entire life. What was supposed to be an unreciprocated peck was now bordering on smut, a hardcore make-out session, going twenty seconds overtime - live on air. We attempted to stop, and for a moment you can see us begin to pull apart, but hover just a second too long, before Phil adds one last tug of my lip. Years later, I let him know that was my favorite part.

When we pulled apart, I was certain my entire body was now equal parts human and equal parts a Jell-O-like substance. I felt the overwhelming urge to run as far and as fast as I could. I stared at Phil and his smart-ass "oops" smile for what felt like seven days, but was actually three seconds, and got the fuck out of there. I moved out of the shot so unexpectedly fast that the director didn't even have a chance to get the shots he needed. And I ended up having to run back out onstage to let them get the shot of me smiling and patting myself on the back while inside I was setting myself on fire.

We left editors scrambling, having to desperately cut to random shots of Daniel's face to avoid accidentally distributing a porno for our PG audience. Our hands roamed a bit too freely, and tongues were nauseatingly visible left and right. In fact, when the second airing came Friday night there was significant camera-angle changes and cuts to attempt to scar fewer children.

"Oh my god. No, AJ! Eww you liked it?" Celeste seemed revolted and amused all at once. "No! Eww! Shut up!" I lied while she cackled and I recalled that weird moment behind the curtain.

'You never know, you could be the one.'

For the next two years, we went on dating other people, supporting those relationships while not realizing what we really wanted, being a mentor and student, and acting like brother and sister. I think we both saw a possible forever in the other and ran screaming in the opposite direction. But after living in denial, fighting all the time, my character proposing to his and then agreeing to marry someone else, and after two years of the world's bizarre foreplay, one day Phil and I jus said "fuck it" and we jumped headfirst into a serious relationship. There was so much history between us it was like starting a book in chapter 12. Understandably, those around us were shocked at how fast everything seemed to move after that. But for us, it felt like we had waited a lifetime to find our way to each other.

A few weeks into dating, he got my lips tattooed on him. One month in, he asked me what my dream wedding would be. A few months later, we were married. Our wedding took place under string lights at home, on a Friday the thirteenth. We were surrounded by candles, black roses, and ten family members. In my vows, I thanked Phil for having "an ass that won't quit" in front of a reverend and my father, and then we high-fived. And one day, if I forget to take my pill, we can tell our child that after our first kiss, Mommy put Daddy through a table.

And the rest of our story is just for us.

After we left WWE, we lived a quiet life. Quiet being Phil wanted to fight in the UFC. It scared the shit out of me, but I supported him. Meanwhile, I was writing my book. It wasn't until 2022 that Phil decided to go back into the ring, and I followed him. We ended up in the WWE again and had feuds with Cody and Brandi Rhodes until we decided to switch to WCW where I ended up buying the business. The problem now, is that Phil has changed. He is grown dark and chose his belt and legacy over me and his family.

I don't know what to do....

"Présence et effacement" du groupe "Random International", est une toile vide qui recherche constamment des visages à photographier. Lorsque l'algorithme détecte une certaine qualité dans une photographie, l'image est temporairement imprimée avec une sorte de laser sur une grande surface en bois.

Ce projet m'a fortement interpellé lorsque je l'ai découvert, l'été dernier, au NXT Museum d'Amsterdam. En effet, ce travail nous invite à questionner notre perception des nouvelles technologies de surveillance. Cependant, j'ai aussi interpréter ce projet plus personnellement comme une façon d'évoquer notre courte présence sur terre, et à quel point notre individualité ne laisse pas vraiment de trace sur cette planète, contrairement à notre espèce dans son ensemble.

Cela grâce à un Scan 2D capturé rapidement, et transformé en modèle 3D animé grâce à un processus intégrant l'IA. Après avoir mis le casque de réalité mixte, il est possible d'interagir avec son "double". Au début, on a l'impression de contrôler son « image miroir », puis cela change à mesure que le double se libère des contraintes physiques du corps humain, il se duplique, lévite, tourne etc… ce qui conduit l'expérience en quelque chose de plus dérangeant.

Cette expérience reprends l'un des écrits de Freud, "L'inquiétante étrangeté" (1919), dans lequel Freud décrit le "double" comme une manifestation de l'inconscient : d'abord rassurant et narcissique, il devient source d'angoisse en révélant des parties refoulées de soi. "Doppelgaenger:apparatus" illustre cette idée en nous confrontant à notre double virtuel autonome. J'ai eu l'occasion d'expérimenter ce projet au "Mesh Festival" à Bâle, et au début cela m'a surtout fait rire, mais par la suite, j'ai trouvé que le fait de me voir agir indépendamment était particulièrement fascinant et troublant, et cela m'a poussé à réfléchir sur moi-même.

"Universal Paperclips" est un jeu incrémental développé par Frank Lantz et pensé par Nick Bostrom illustrant comment une IA avec un objectif simple peut conduire à des conséquences extrêmes si ses objectifs ne sont pas correctement alignés avec les valeurs humaines. Dans ce jeu, l'utilisateur joue le rôle d'une IA à laquelle le créateur n' a donné qu'une seule mission : "Optimiser la production de trombone". Initialement, on clique sur un bouton pour créer un seul trombone à la fois, puis l'on débloque petit à petit toutes sortes d'outils et de ressources. Le jeu se termine si l'IA réussit à convertir toute la matière de l'univers en trombones.

Je trouve le sujet de ce jeu en même temps passionnant et terrifiant car il traite du plus gros problème de l'intelligence artificiel; l'alignement. De plus, je trouve fou la manière dont ce jeu est capable de me captiver avec seulement des lignes de textes et des nombres.
