it's just something that drives me crazy thinking about meera and how much she loves people and can clearly see who they COULD be at their best. but instead of accepting that often times their best selves would only exist under better circumstances and a more robust support network that the wasteland can never provide, she strives to overcome the obstacles with. essentially forced self-determination, in which she tries to help people who have either given up on themselves or cannot seem to help themselves and overcome/cope with their own demons. and this happens through the inappropriate use of hypnotherapy. and she's so immensely skilled at it and a genuinely genius doctor in that regard that it does move someone away from the edge. but it also inherently harms them on insane levels because it's also kind of basically well-intentioned and scarily well-executed gaslighting someone into believing that they can handle it and are actually happy. my beautiful problematic woman doing medical malpractice on people with disorders.
#oc: meera chari#implanting fake memories into people. affirming a reality that is incongruent with someones loved reality to make them happier#which makes them maladjusted to deal with their actual circumstances.#meera's big goal is to fund research to break down the barrier of suggestibility in patients since suggestibility hugely impacts#the effectiveness of hypnotherapy. but she fails to realise how dangerous it would be to#find a way to destroy that wall. and she doesn't realise it until she goes to Big MT.#she doesnt notice how terribly shes hurting some people either until the events of New Vegas#where shes lost everything and has to reevaluate her approach during her travels with her companions#N.S. in this case hut also lily bown is suitable and craig boone too#my ocs
