Twisted Wonderland - He Hears You Singing (About Him)
Twisted Wonderland Writings Masterpost
Savanaclaw Edition, Octavinelle Edition
Prompt: While relaxing, and doing chores around the Ramshackle dorm for your weekend restoration of the barely standing building, your thoughts drift to love songs from your old world. You think of songs that remind you of your closest fellow NRC student and significant other, and end up singing one while you work.
Reader: GN reader - They/Them pronouns and they are referred to as 'MC/Prefect' in this one. And let's all just agree that MC is a great singer- cuz some of these songs have mad vocals that I would never dream of trying to sing myself with my incredibly average voice, and I imagine a lot of you are the same.
Included Characters: Heartslaybul Edition!
Warnings: None.
Request Rules & Information Here
~~~
Riddle Rosehearts - "Queen of Hearts" by We The Kings
- Doesn't mean to eavesdrop- truly he doesn't- but when he hears the opening lines of the song he can't help but pause, wondering if this is a song dedicated to the ACTUAL Queen of Hearts that he's just never heard before.
- He doesn't listen to popular music very often, he's more of a classical music while studying kind of person, but you have a rather impressive voice, and the song is honestly very... Sweet.
- He doesn't get some of the references in the verses, but the chorus is very charming, paired with your voice, and the bright smile on your face as you playfully sweep around the room (not very efficient for cleaning, but you are obviously having fun, so-).
- When you notice him, he turns a unique shade of red, stumbling out an apology for intruding, he just needs to talk to you about—what did he need to talk to you about again?
- He can't remember b-but he thought your singing was lovely! And you're clearly busy so you should get back to it! The cleaning part! N-not the singing! Unless you want to sing again!
- He would certainly love to hear you... If you are comfortable singing the song for him again that is?
"I've never heard that song before, but I liked it a lot... Would you mind singing it again? I'd love to hear yo- it again."
~~~
Trey Clover - "Coffee Cake" by Benson Boone
- He was only swinging by Ramshackle to drop off some spare baked goods that he just had extra of and totally didn't specifically make for you.
- Anyway-
- When he heard you singing he paused in his tracks, leaning against the doorway to listen to you singing with so much energy and a bright smile on your face.
- It's like you're having your own little concert while you dusted- occasionally using said feather duster as a makeshift microphone. It's adorable.
- He can't help but smile softly at the scene- he's unfamiliar with the song, and yet it fits your voice so well.
- A little startled when you notice him, but not at all ashamed- you were amazing, how could he not stop and stare? Now would you like to take a break with him and tell him all about that song and its meaning?
- He's already thinking of a dozen different coffee cake recipes now to share with you, the song stuck in his head, and he'll probably be humming it while he bakes for the next week, thinking about you the whole time.
"Oh, don't be embarrassed, I thought you sounded incredible. You should sing more often, perhaps while we bake some actual coffee cake together?"
~~~
Cater Diamond - "La Da Dee" by Cody Simpson
- He wasn't even planning to stop by Ramshackle today until Grim showed up at Heartslaybul complaining about you doing nothing 'fun' just 'boring chores' and while he had no intention of actually helping clean, he figured he'd at least grace you with his presence to liven things up and keep you company!
- It's totally not because this is the first opportunity he's had in weeks to spend some alone time with you- hahaha-
- The moment he hears you singing he whips out his phone at the speed of light, rushing to start recording the moment so he can hear your amazing voice singing the sweet, energetic love song over and over.
- When you spot him he is shameless about it, loudly brushing off any embarrassment on your part to immediately praise your voice and the song. Did you write that yourself? Oh, is it new? Who's it by? You have to send him a link! Oh, it's from your world? Oh, he's totes jealous! Your world has seriously great music!
- Will literally beg you to let him post that video of you singing, you were so amazing! Your pitch, tone, energy, all of it was perfect! You'd go Magicam famous!
- If you don't want it posted he'll pout and won't post it- but he certainly won't delete it either, after all, you might change your mind someday! (And he totally wants to go back and watch it on his own time but he's not admitting that.)
"You should totally join the Pop Music Club! You can tell us all about more music from your world- we can even try to play some covers of some of the songs! And you'd look amazing in a custom club outfit! Think of the Magicam posts, MC!"
~~~
Ace Trappola - "Wild Heart" by The Vamps
- Oh.
- Ohohohoho- You are never living this down.
- You can sing!? Not to mention that song! He's certain he's never heard it before but damn are you performing it well. He's got half a mind to pull a Cater move and record you for blackmail later- or just to have for himself.
- He tries to be sneaky- but at one point when you do a fun spin while belting the bridge- oh, he just can't help himself- grabbing you and spinning you in a circle with that mischievous, cocky smile of his and a loud teasing laugh.
- Huh, what are you embarrassed about? You sounded great! He had no idea you had such a great set of pipes on ya! You should sing for him again- that song was great too, were you thinkin' of him while singin' it? It sounds like a good description of him.
- He'll only lay off if you tell him he should help with the cleaning- to which he'll quickly lay off it in favor of dragging you off to help him with whatever trouble he came over in the first place to drag you into.
"Aww, come on, Prefect! Lemme hear you sing one more time! You sounded good, and that song was totally up my alley!"
~~~
Deuce Spade - "Last First Kiss" by One Direction
- Is entranced. Unlike the others who knew they were eavesdropping/knew it was a private moment, he doesn't really get the memo.
- He's too caught by surprise by your amazing voice and the song to realize he's staring in awe like a creep. It's rather romantic... And he can't help but fantasize for a moment that maybe- just maybe...
- And then you spot him. And he turns redder than Riddle when he's throwing a tantrum.
- He didn't mean to be weird or make you embarrassed he promises! He just thought you sounded really nice!!
- He will apologize sooo much until you assure him it's alright and to just not tease you. Tease you? How could he ever do that!? You were amazing! You sounded like a professional singer- at least to him, you did!
- You can go back to singing if you want- he'll even help you with your cleaning as an apology for barging in (totally not just an excuse to maybe hear you sing again while you work).
"I'm really sorry again! I just... Thought you sounded really nice is all... I'll help you with the chores to make up for it! But, feel free to go back to singing. I really liked that song..."
~~~
And that's all folks! My first-ever Twisted Wonderland fanfiction post! I hope I got the personalities right, please comment with your thoughts and opinions! Love ya, and see ya next post ~ Roo

Tumblr media Tumblr media
Summary: Romantic Christmas walk with Charles. Extreme fluffy tropes. Charles being a complete and utter sap.
Requested?: Of course not.
Tumblr media
You watch as snow gently falls in the golden glow of the streetlights lining the road. Shops are lit up with warm lights, illuminating all sorts of gifts to be bought by one person for another person they love- teddy bears, golden jewelry, winter attire, and the like.
There's a certain magical feeling in the crisp air gently blowing your hair and stinging your rosy pink cheeks. Golden fairy lights line the buildings, and as you walk past diners and bakeries, sweet scents of soups and pastries fill your nostrils. Despite the cold outdoor temperatures, there's an expected warmth in your heart. Christmas fills the air and your soft heart, and as you near the centre of this little town your boyfriend has brought you to, the sound of a small, makeshift choir singing classical Christmas songs starts to faintly reach your ears.
Your boyfriend's hand slips into yours, his warm gloved hand wrapped around your exposed red freezing fingers. You look up, and your eyes meet his. His cheeks are pink, and steam comes from his mouth as he releases a contented sigh. His eyes shine blue, reflecting the golden soft lights all around you. He looks adorable in his wrapped up scarf and snug hat on his head.
Charles, your boyfriend, wraps his arm around you, pulling your body closer to his as he feels you shiver slightly. You turn a corner, and you set your eyes on the sight of a huge tree, standing at about fifteen feet, covered in sparkling Christmas lights, with a shining star sitting on the top of it. Around the tree stand carolers, basking in the lyrics and feel of the season, many of them holding hands, arms around each other, arms linked, or just standing close together.
The feeling of unity hits you like a blanket warming your soul.
You tighten your grip on Charles' arm, leaning into him, and soft gasp escaping your lips at the lovely sight. "Charles..." you murmur.
He glances to you, a soft smile on his face. "Yes, lovely?"
"This is... amazing."
"I thought you'd like it." When you meet his eyes, he winks at you. You grin, setting your head back against his shoulder, looking up at the lovely tree and listening to the wonderful chorus of all different sorts of voices.
When that song ends, Charles gently asks, "Want to keep walking?"
You nod. As you walk, you feel chillier and chillier, pressing your body closer and closer to Charles', until suddenly he stops and gently nudges you away, before beginning to take off his jacket. "What are you doing?" you ask incredulously.
Charles doesn't respond, and simply drapes his bigger, black coat over your shoulders. The warmth of the coat from being on his body and the scent of his lovely cologne both hit you at the same time, but despite the comfort of his jacket, you say, "Come on now. You're no more immune to the cold than I am. I don't want you to be cold."
"Sh," he hums, and his warm pointer finger goes to your lips to hush you. "I'm just fine."
"Charles, stop," you roll your eyes. "I'm the one who didn't bring a jacket. You did. You deserve to keep yours."
He shakes his head no, and pulls you close to him. Suddenly you feel his hot breath on your ear as he whispers gently, "Before we left, I told you to wear a coat. But you said 'No, Charles, because I don't want to hide my cute outfit'," There's a teasing note in his voice as he imitates you and brushes his fingers over your cheek. "You look absolutely stunning, with or without a cute outfit. But I figured I wouldn't argue. So I just wore an extra jacket myself, because I knew you'd be shivering, and I can't have my love being uncomfortable, can I?" There's almost a gentle purring aspect to his voice, which is filled with sugar and honey as he speaks to you in such loving tones.
This time when you say, "Charles, stop," it's with more of an embarrassed giggle than with annoyance.
Both of you seem to accept this, because as you slip your arms in his jacket's sleeves and zip it up, Charles' hand hugs your waist, and the two of you continue walking. The jacket, because of it's size on you, feels like a comfortable blanket. It reminds you of home, and snuggling with Charles. You link arms with him, and he gently kisses your cheek.
As you walk, Charles starts whispering the sweetest things. Sometimes he gets on these rants about how much he loves you and how much he cares about you, and when he starts, there's no stopping his sappy self, so you're forced to listen to his soft praises. "My God, you're so gorgeous. I won't ever be able to stop loving you. Not that I want to. Loving you makes my life so much better. You make my life complete. Like, you are just... lovely and amazing and... I must be the most lucky man on earth to have you. You make me feel so safe and comfortable and I just can't get enough of you. With you, everything is perfect. I don't know how I lived before I met you, and I don't know how I would live if I didn't have you. Babe I just... I'm sorry for going on but..." Suddenly he stops, taking your waist in his hands, pulling your body into his. You look at your head-over-heels boyfriend in amusement as he gives you the most romantic look you've ever seen, pressing his forehead to yours. "Babe, I just love you so much..."
"M-hm... Whatever, you sap," you murmur back in a teasing tone, blushing softly.
"You're going to make me go insane," he swoons.
You chuckle, shaking your head. "Keep yourself under control, handsome."
He simply kisses the tip of your nose, saying, "You're still chilly, aren't you?"
"Don't you dare think of giving me your sweatshirt now-"
"No, no!" he grins, leaning his forehead away a bit. "I was just wondering, though... As we were walking, I saw a cute café. I could buy you a nice warm drink."
"Ohhh," you grin. "Well, in that case..."
Charles grins back, and slips around, only having one arm around your lower back, and the two of you start walking.
Soon the two of you arrive at the shop, but before you go in, suddenly there's a flash of passion in Charles' eyes, and he pulls you to him again. You fit together as two pieces in a puzzle, and his warm, soft lips gently meet yours. You feel bad about how cold and chapped your lips feel, but either it's just you, or Charles doesn't mind, because he kisses you deeply, like there's no one else there, like it doesn't matter. Like you're the only one in the whole world. His hand caresses your cheek and he lets out a soft grunt. When he finally pulls away, both of your breaths are quickened.
He whispers into your ear again, with his hot breath, "Sorry... I got a little carried away, babe. Let's get a little something to drink now. Then we can go to the hotel and do whatever we'd like."
You nod, feeling butterflies and excitement at these promising words. He puts his arms over your shoulders, and you walk in together to the romantic little Christmas-decorated café.

Dessert Plans | Jason Todd 18+
↪ Masterlist (Jason) | Masterlist (Dick)
pairing: Jason Todd x female!Reader
Tumblr media
The scent of rosemary and garlic fills the space of your apartment, causing your mouth to water and your stomach to grumble. A long day spent confined to a classroom teaching a bunch of tired and grumpy 7th graders had you summoning for the bell to ring and for the day to be over. Luckily, it was also Friday, so you had a long weekend ahead.
But back to that delicious scent. Your mouth continues to water as you slip out of your shoes and put your bag down by the door. The sound of singing echoes from your kitchen. A grin plasters your face as the speaker plays Anti-Hero.
Jason, at first, would never admit that songs belonging to a world-renowned popstar would escape his lips but you caught him red-handed one too many times until he realized that he couldn’t hide it from you.
“Jay?” you call out to your boyfriend. His back turned to you, you make out the outline of pure muscle that strains beneath his gray t-shirt. It clings to him and cuffs around his biceps. You groan softly at the sight of him. Jason Todd is gorgeous. Undoubtedly, you scored quite literally the jackpot of men with his generosity, need to protect, and dangerously good looks.
His head turns swiftly, the last string of the chorus leaving his lips.
“Baby,” Jason chuckles, spatula in hand. He glances between you and whatever is on the stovetop behind him. He quickly cuts the heat down to a low simmer before making his way over to you. Strong arms engulf you, the smell of leather and smoke crowding your senses in what can only be described as euphoric.
You lazily tangle your arms around his waist and smother your face against his chest where you lightly kiss the patch of skin that peeks through the V of his t-shirt.
“How was your day?” Jason asks, kissing the top of your head. He stands much taller than you, practically swallowing you. Dick loved to joke about your drastic height difference, poking fun by asking, “Hey? Where is she? I don’t see her.” when you’re standing behind Jason.
“Exhausting,” you chuckle in response. “We had an exam review today. I’ve got high hopes they’ll all pass but you know how it goes.”
Jason smiled and took your hand, leading you to the barstool that sits in front of the counter. “Go on, take a seat. I’ll pour you a glass of wine.”
“Sounds lovely, Jay. What are you making? Smells amazing.” you breathe a sigh of relief when the ache in your feet subsides the moment you take a seat. Jason grabs a wine glass from the top shelf with perfect ease and confiscates the bottle of wine from the fridge. He pours you a glass and sets it in front of you before returning to his work at the stove.
“Your favorite. Garlic potatoes and rosemary chicken.”
Groaning with excitement, Jason laughs.
“No patrol tonight?” You question, sipping the wine. There are many nights when you come home and Jason is getting ready to join Dick and Tim. The early hours of the morning are when you’d feel the bed dip and strong arms wrap around you, bringing you to his chest, your neck smothered with his hot mouth and his large limbs tangling with yours. But nights like this– they were few and far between. But Jason valued romance and wanted nothing more than to keep it alive. He wanted to make up for the moments he missed. It took him so long to find someone worth it, someone to relieve him of his stress, to remind him that he didn’t have to carry his burdens alone on his back.
A new side of Jason was born when you two came together. A light came on within him and it shone brightly. He was quite the comedian, oftentimes using his death as a means to humor his brothers and Bruce. There have been countless times Jason reminded Bruce and his brothers at the dinner table at Wayne Manor that he had the up on them because he had seen death. Cue the jabbing of your elbow into his side and him bursting out laughing.
“Nope. I’m all yours.” Jason smiled widely at you. “Told the boys I had a hot date.”
Scoffing, you roll your eyes. “A hot date–really?”
“Mmhm. The hottest woman in all of Gotham City… Told them I was hoping she could put me in detention tonight…”
Your eyes widen as Jason saunters back over and takes a sip from your wine, his nose scrunching up. “Shit. That’s horrible.”
You snatch the stem out of his hand and push him back with your foot.“Stick to the hard stuff, Todd. Leave my poison alone. And detention? Since when did you like role-playing?”
Jason smirks with a sparkle in those green eyes that promises to be your downfall. With two large hands, he reaches out and skims them under the hem of your skirt. Calloused fingertips ignite fires along the skin of your thighs as Jason reaches as far as the fabric will allow him. He digs into the supple flesh and grunts, shaking his head.
“There’s always room to try something new, baby. You know that.” he leans forward and captures your lips for a kiss. You hum and set the wineglass down so you can give your all into the kiss. His tongue glides with yours. You lay one hand over the back of his neck while the other cups his cheek. Jason hums deliciously, the vibrations sending shockwaves into your lower belly until the floodgates threaten to open.
“Let’s get through dinner, yeah? Then you’re all mine.” Jason pulls away, leaving you breathless.
“What’d you have in mind?” You can’t help but ask, eyelashes fluttering at the dizziness overcoming you.
Jason does that thing you love so much that he slowly undresses you with his eyes. He starts at your face before trailing down your blouse and eyeing your chest before he travels his gaze down the journey of your stomach until his mind is locked on the image of you naked and ready for him, a sight that fits the term glorious.
“I’m going to clean up this kitchen and while I do so, you’re going to put on that little red lace set you know drives me crazy… I want you relaxed and feeling sexy because, after that, you’re due back in this kitchen for dessert.”
Your eyes widen as you sink your teeth into your lip. “What kind of dessert?”
Jason tucks a strand of hair behind your ear and nips your bottom lip quickly.
“The one between your thighs, baby. My favorite. I’m going to spread you so wide on this table and eat you until you’re begging for me to stop. Until you’re so spent that the only name you’re able to moan is mine… Until my need is satiated. Want you to come so hard on my tongue that every night I’m out on patrol this week, I’ll remember your taste… That’s the dessert I’ve got planned for you.” He winks before kissing you quickly on the cheek and returning to the stove.
“Jason,” You gasp, your core throbbing at his imagery.
“Hope you’re hungry.” Jason shoots you another wicked smile before grabbing plates and fixing dinner.

Season of The Witch (3)
Tumblr media
Pairing: Jacob Black x Witch!Reader x Edward Cullen
Word Count: 1.8k
Summary: (Y/n) (L/n) is 19 and still trying to figure out the world. She isn't sure of a lot of things but she is sure of one: she's gonna have her cake and eat it too.
A/N: Edward's here!
Warnings: N/A but it will be 18+ at some point most likely. Minors and blanks dni. Also I didn't edit any of it so ignore any typos.
The morning sunlight streamed in gently through every window in your room. The sounds of birds and crickets singing in a chorus together were the first sounds you awoke to. The only way you knew last night wasn’t a dream was from the text on your phone from Jacob, letting you know he was looking forward to seeing you. You felt dizzy with delight, sending him a reply to know you were looking forward to seeing him too.
Stretching as you stand up, you walk over to the balcony, opening the doors as you step out into the unusually warm Fall air. Looking down, you see the progress your mom has made in such a short time in the yard. A pergola now sat near the edge, a beautiful outdoor dining table sat under it with string lights that had not yet been turned on. Directly below your window, she had began on a garden. Strawberries, blueberries, tomatoes, pumpkins, and many different types of herbs were already in bloom, despite the season. Looking to your left, you saw her floating near the window to your dad’s office. She was finishing planting a few flowers in a planter box she had added. She smiled as she noticed you, flying over a bit as she perched her elbows on the railing of your balcony.
“Good morning, sweetie. I couldn’t sleep last night, I was too excited to start decorating! I have so many ideas blooming.” she gushed to you enthusiastically. You yawn, trying to rub the sleep from your eyes as you give her a soft smile.
“It looks amazing so far mom. Just be careful, it’s broad daylight. Anyone could walk by and see you flying and sprouting stuff from the ground.” you remind her. She rolls her eyes, waving you off.
“Already ahead of ya. I put a veil over the house so to anyone, it’ll just look like I’m on a ladder. Me and your dad had breakfast already since he had to be in for work early but I left you a plate in the kitchen!” your stomach grumbles at the mention of breakfast. “Also I left a list of potion supplies we’re growing low on, do you think you could head into the woods after you’re dressed and get them for me?” you nod lazily and she squeezes your hand gently before floating back over to the window, continuing her meticulous flower planting.
After you’ve gotten ready for the day, you head down to the kitchen. On the counter, there’s a plate of pancakes, fresh maple syrup, and a bowl of fruit. You see the list stuck to the fridge with a magnet. Taking your plate to the dining room, you begin looking the list over as you scarf down your breakfast. Everything should be easy enough to gather.
Placing your plate into the dishwasher, you toss the list in your satchel before grabbing some twine and a basket near the back door. As you step out of it, you notice the entrance your mom must’ve made for you to the forest. The trees are braided around each other in a circular shape, flowers woven throughout.
There’s not a clear path as you go deeper but that doesn’t scare you. Waving your hand, a golden luminous line follows behind you so you can easily find your way back home. With your list floating near your head with a pen, you start to search for the first ingredient.
“Mugwort…mugwort…ah, there it is!” Taking out a pair of plant sheers, you cut a nice amount, your twine floating out of your bag to tie the bushel up before it floats back to your open bag. The enchanted pen crosses it out from the list. “Just eight more things to go.” you mutter to yourself. Hopefully the rest would be as easy to find.
Tumblr media
With eight out of nine things gathered, you just needed the final one: water from a natural source. As you went further and further into the woods, you could hear running water. Turning left, you walked forward finally finding the source of the sound. There was a small creek running further than your eyes could see. Taking out a mason jug, you leaned down to the water filling it up. It was going well enough until you heard a noise. It was fast footsteps and from the sound of it, it was getting closer to you. Standing up with your half filled jar, you got prepared in a stance.
An unnaturally fast blur was a few feet from you. Without a second thought, you shook your hands raising them above your head. Thick vines and roots began to raise, wrapping tightly around the creature which you now could identify as a…person? If you could even call him that. The man before you was gorgeous, his face looking as if it was chiseled from marble. But something was different about him. He was unusually pale, with eyes of gold and pretty pink lips. You watched as he struggled in the vines, an intense look on his face until his eyes met you. Your mouth was agape, eyes wide as you approached him.
“What…what are you? You’re clearly warm blooded but you’re definitely not human.” he said in an aggressive tone. Waving your hand, you released him from the vines. He wasted no time in approaching you, a mere inches away from you. Your head began to throb a bit. Was he…
“Are you trying to read my mind?” you questioned, scowling at him. Your mom had taught you how to block your thoughts from other occults but it always came at a cost. You got a small headache whenever you did so. His eyes widened, staggering back a bit.
“Yes but…how did you do that? I could get into your mind but, I was blocked from your thoughts.” he responded in amazement. He reached out, grabbing your face in both his hands, causing you to shudder. His hands were as cold as ice. The speed, his body temperature, the color of his eyes. It was all starting to make sense now.
“Vampire?”
“Witch?”
You both said at the same time. You both step back from each other, scared of what the other may do, not knowing that neither of you were a threat. “I thought all witches went extinct during Salem.” he said. You scoffed, rolling your eyes.
“Clearly not. They did a number on us but many of us exist, although most are outside of America. But as you know, we’re not an enemy to none but a friend to all.” you explain. He steps closer to you, running a hand down your shoulder.
“Amazing.” he answers breathlessly. Looking up at him, you get an even better look at his features now. He truly is a sight to behold. Before you can say another word, he’s on the ground as a shirtless man you’re quite familiar with attacks him.
“Get away from her, bloodsucker!” Jacob shouts. Your eyes widen in shock. The two of them roll around on the ground, attacking each other. There are punches thrown left and right and Jacob is surprisingly holding his weight well. But you’re not sure if either one will live if they go on like this. And you know if Jacob gets any more angry, he might wolf out.
You blow air from your mouth, a big swarm of wind towards them. The both fly back from one another, landing on the ground with a thud. Even with the cuts on his body, Jacob still looks up at you with concern.
“Are you okay? Did he hurt you?” he asks, standing up with a grunt as he rushes to your side. He grabs your face, looking it over for any signs of damage. You place your hand over his, causing him to look into your eyes. He relaxes at your touch some.
“I’m okay, Jacob honestly. I can hold my own quite well. Plus,” you look over at the vampire who’s now standing up, near you but far enough away that Jacob can’t touch him. “He’s no threat. I read into his mind a little, Edward is no threat.” Edward smiles at that, causing Jacob to growl, pulling you back flush into his chest.
“Well that’s not fair. You can read mine but yours is off limits?” He asks. Jacob’s grip tightens on you some.
“You don’t deserve to know a single thought in her head.” He spits out, causing Edward to look up at him with a scowl. You could tell Jacob was slowly losing his composure. Releasing yourself from his grip, you grab his hand tugging him back towards the direction you came.
“Let’s just go, Jake. You were going to show me around, remember?” You ask, looking up at him. He looks down at you smiling, squeezing your hand some. You put his mind at ease, bringing him a sense of calm just from being near him. Looking back over your shoulder, you see Edward still watching you. “The name’s (Y/n) by the way.”
Tumblr media
When you’re finally back to your house, you see a motorcycle parked in your driveway, a helmet hanging from the right handle. You look from the bike to Jacob. “This yours?” you ask him, walking around the bike as you inspect it.
“Yeah, I built it myself. I’m pretty good with things like that.” he shrugs, as if it’s no big deal. Reaching into his pocket, he pulls something out. Stepping towards you, he motions for you to turn around. You do so, lifting your hair as he places a necklace around your neck. It’s a gold necklace with a pendant of a wolf on it. You hold the charm in your hand, smiling. “I noticed the other day you like to wear a lot of necklaces so I made this one for you.”
“Wait, you made this? Jake this is amazing! Thank you, really, thank you.” you say, turning around to hug him. He instantly reciprocates it, his hands trailing up and down your back before kissing the top of your head.
“A special girl deserves a special gift. And you…are a special girl.” He whispers the last part, pulling back from you. You bite your lip nervously, rocking back and forth on the balls of your feet.
“I feel like since you know my…secret, it’s only right that I tell you I know yours too.” his eyes widen before he looks away, turning his attention to the ground. “It’s okay, I think it’s cool. I saw your tattoo and recognized the symbol from one of my occult history books. You know, witches and werewolves have worked alongside each other for centuries.” you tell him, grabbing his hand. He lets out a sigh of relief, massaging your hand in his.
“I grew up hearing legends about witches but I wasn’t aware they were still around. I guess it was written in the stars for us to get along so well.” he says, handing you the helmet as he mounts the bike. You put it on, strapping it in place before hopping on behind him. You wrap your arms around his middle, leaning against his back.
“I guess so.”

After that night you never heard that song again, Kayn promised it was still in the works. That he would let you hear it when it was done and no earlier. You teased him of course, weeks went by you almost forgot about it. If he said you would hear it when it was time then you'd leave the topic alone till then.
Then time came for his small solo concert, a nice weekend night at a local stage, you were in the mosh pits, right in front, cheering and screaming. Even if you were his partner first, you were his number one fan second. You were here to support him. As you cheered, Kayn said he was introducing a new song! How exciting!
Wait...a new song? The new song?!
You cheer harder, Kayn glances at you, as his eyes meet yours he gives the crowd his biggest cocky grin sending all his fans into a frenzy. Blowing the crowd (you) a kiss, he laughs.
" This one is for all my fans, what is this? A love song? From me? Hell yeah. You guys know this is special."
The screams in the crowd were almost deafening. Your face already tinged pink knowing this was going to be about you, the way his eyes stayed watched you as he spoke about how the song was special. Your heart flutters. As you clutched your purple lightstick, you cheered on, excited for the theatrics.
The lights darkened again, a sick guitar solo from Kayn as the backing track plays. The tune so familiar, yet, he did keep working on it so it was different. It was ethereal. The music, the lights, the way you watched him move on stage. His fingers clutched tight around his guitar pick as he plays the riff you remember him humming.
The crowd faded away slowly, all you could hear was his voice and the music from the stage. Your heart thumped away from the adrenaline of the concert, and from the way he would sneak glances at you during the rap verse, trying to see if you were impressed. It was about you. This really was your song! You blush harder as you see Kayn's soft smile while he sings the final chorus, an expression that rarely appears. The crowd going wild again seeing him this way. But for you, you were silent, smiling hard, a warm feeling in your chest. It was an experience like no other, never had he made you feel this way from the stage. The rest of the concert went by smoothly, you had fun cheering him on but the memory of his sweet, soft smile. You would never forget this.
As the concert ends you book it. Straight to his dresser room. Shouting for him excitedly as you burst in. There he is! Your one and only! Your Rockstar!
" Hello Darling~ Did you like it, I worked hard on it after all. First time fully writing both the lyrics and music actually. I think I did well."
Kayn chuckles, an arrogant look on his face as he gives you cheeky smile. He holds his arms open for you, inviting you in for a hug. As you come in, arms around him, he picks you up and spins you before putting you back down. You praise him, telling him how amazing his performance was, how you could feel him really put his heart and soul into this one. How you had what you swear was the best concert experience of your life.
" Of course. It's a gift you know? Just for you~ An anniversary present I'd say."
He leans down, holding your face gently as his lips press against yours. His rings so deliciously cold against your flushed cheeks. A passionate kiss coming from him, his free hand supporting you by the waist, holding you against him before he lets you go. Another one of his signature charming smiles on his face could be seen as you open your eyes. Ah, you really were his biggest fan, your heart swells with love for him. Kayn runs his fingers through your hair before holding you face lightly once again.
" I love you y/n..."

The Sea Queen
Chapter 9 (back story, part 2)
(just tiny doodles I made as I wait)
story commissioned by the amazing @libby-for-life! Based off one of the first pics @sir-tater-of-the-tot made that got me hooked on this fandom to began with. I blame them entirely.
Tumblr media
“I hate this….”
As confiding as the cave was, Adam could at least trick himself into believing that he wasn’t where he was. That the cave was no different than the crock and spaces he crawled into as a child on his island. From the bubble of his confinement he could ignore much of his under sea surroundings. But Lucifer’s sadism apparently to knew no bounds.
“My precious urchin…” Lucifer called from below the cave’s opening. Adam made a face at the sappy glee lining his voice and blatantly refused to look out from the edge of the cave’s opening. “My coral? My sharky love?” Lucifer clapped his hands in a movement swirling with bubbles. Earning a series of delighted thrills from their children flocking impatiently about his tentacles. All watching in awaiting fascination at the familiar coaxing from their father for their mother. All seven followed his example and clapped their hands trying to hold in their giggles. They would be quick to sprint and hide within Lucifer’s coils in case it earned their mother’s hilarious ire.
“Come out! Come out!!” they called in perfect chorus. All excitement for the family’s rare day out as Adam hardly dared to venture from the depths of Lucifer’s self made craven. Built steadily throughout the years in suspension of their mother’s one day arrival. The children couldn’t possibly fault their mother for loving their father’s gift so much.
“Ahh…!” Adam half covered his ears and turned away. His ridiculous instincts trying to trick him into submitting wards their calls. Since their first child, Adam found himself strangely acute to their sounds and cries. Often hearing them before even Lucifer could and it compelled Adam into actions he hasn’t felt openly in years. To love and nurture with a sense of unconditional love that ate at his defenses quicker than he could even build them.
He could hear Lucifer’s laughter from outside and hated the way it made his heart skipped a beat. “My grumpy pearl!”
But those fucking nicknames.
Suddenly a compile of tiny hands grabbed at Adam’s shoulders and with a collective pull, the human found himself a drift outside the cave. The resounding cheer that followed shallowed his arising panic, all the while kisses and hugs engulfed him in a ways only krakens could. Entire body hugs and kisses quick to turn into happy bites.
Krakens ultimate show of affection.
The children dispersed only enough for Lucifer to take up Adam’s vision. The distant light of the sun reflected through his hair like a wave of gold. His inhuman features Adam once compared to a blowfish as children, had now become what he could only describe as what poets would sing nonsense about. Unworldly and painfully beautiful, Adam’s kraken pulled him into a fang filled kiss.

Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas
Tumblr media
part ii
pairing: harry styles x fem!reader
warnings: none really.. not edited.
summary: in which y/n's friends book her an amazing gig, but they don't mention anything about her favorite singer being in attendance.
request: nope!
Tumblr media
your friends were more than aware of your obsession with harry styles. it’s not like it was a secret.
so, it only made sense that when you started to sing in bars and cafes — anywhere, really — that you’d always incorporate something of his into it. whether it be a love on tour crewneck, a song of his, a one direction song, or a song about him — you loved to cover style, because.. who didn’t want to strut on a stage to a song everyone knows?
however, you weren’t aware of what they were planning when they somehow booked you in a very prestigious bar.
the dress-code for this bar was strict. your usual get-up of jeans and a crewneck — or jeans and anything, really — was vetoed before you could even ask. so, you searched through the depths and trenches of your closet until you found a black, skin-tight cocktail dress that ended right at your mid-thigh.
“seriously, babe. you know sign of the times inside and out. you’re just psyching yourself out,” one of your friends, melanie, told you.
“i know, but.. still.”
“you doubt yourself too much.”
“so you tell me everyday. now shoo! i’ve gotta be onstage in five.”
Tumblr media
you weren’t exactly sure how you got onstage. you’re pretty sure you blacked out.
as you nervously scanned the crowd, you spoke into the mic, “hi.. my name is y/n. uh.. i’ll be singing some songs tonight. i figured since it’s christmas eve, i could sing through a few.. christmas classics or whatever. so.. yeah!”
a few people in the audience laughed at your awkwardness.
you sang through last christmas first, which really boosted your confidence. the audience was very interactive, singing, dancing, and clapping along.
you sang a few other christmas classics. santa baby, let it snow, things like that.
and then.. it was time for the section you very much dreaded. your songs.
“so.. these next few songs are songs that i wrote. they’re.. like.. my babies. so.. please be nice to them,” you laughed.
you nodded to the band. a silent signal that they could start the music.
“when you first told me about her, you said she was thirty. and i just can’t help but think.. you knew it was dirty. and maybe you were just a little sad, but there’s no excuse to lie to me like that. but when you first told me about her, you said she was thirty,” you took a deep breath before belting the chorus, “but she’s only twenty-eight. i’m not even half her age. she probably just had her first high school reunion. you’re probably the first guy she’s ever moved in with. you think that i wanna hate. but you set me up this way. so for my health i’ll be blocking your number, ‘cause you couldn’t wait till i got a bit older.”
the crowd cheered, giving you more confidence as you walked around the stage.
“and sometimes i kinda feel like i wanna forgive. but it never crossed your mind that maybe i’m still a kid. and i’m so used to being the adult. even when you say it’s not your fault. but i’m kinda getting sick and tired of crying. so please stop lying, and lying, and lying. she’s only twenty-eight. i’m not even half her age. she probably just had her first high school reunion. you’re probably the first guy she’s ever moved in with. you think that i wanna hate. but you set me up this way. so for my health i’ll be blocking your number, ‘cause you couldn’t wait till i got a bit older. to tell me she was twenty-eight.”
as the drums and electric guitar got more intense, the lights flashed different colors.
“to tell me she was twenty-eight… what the fuck is twenty-eight? you said she’s mature, so that makes it okay. and you said she likes sports, so that makes it okay. and she’s actually pretty, so that makes it okay. but there’s nothing you can say that makes twenty-eight okay.. to me.”
the crowd cheered as you lowered the mic. a smile overtook your face as you laughed.
you walked back over to the mic stand, putting the mic in the slot as a slow, piano-ballad type song started. the lights switched to a soft white.
“they’re always charismatic. and they’ll turn up the charm. their words do something magic, saying no is really hard. they’re over-generous, you’ll never pay the bills. they’ll fall in love in seconds. die for you, or probably kill. ooh. and after six months, you’ll feel really stupid. ooh. i promise that it’s not your fault you fell for it,” you shook your head, keeping your eyes closed as you sang, “‘cause.. one little fight breaks into war. feels like you’re dying on the bathroom floor. you’ll make an excuse. you’ll say that it’s you. and the mirror’s telling you it’s true. won’t leave, can’t stay. how much are you gonna take? ‘cause you’ll always take the blame. it feels like shit, but that’s just how it is. when you love a narcissist. so if you’re feeling crazy.. i wouldn’t be surprised. the only thing they’re good at’s knowing how to gaslight. then make you feel like the most beautiful in the world. while they’re sleeping with another girl. ooh. and after six months, you’ll feel really stupid. ooh. i promise that it’s not your fault you fell for it, ‘cause.. one little fight breaks into war. feels like you’re dying on the bathroom floor. you’ll make an excuse. you’ll say that it’s you. and the mirror’s telling you it’s true. won’t leave, can’t stay. how much are you gonna take? ‘cause you’ll always take the blame. it feels like shit, but that’s just how it is. ‘cause i felt like shit. so i know how it is. when you love a narcissist.”
the crowd cheered as it went straight into another song.
“when you’d yell, i would stay quiet. you never noticed i was quiet. i was taught that speaking up was talking back. always first to say, ‘i’m sorry’, ‘cause i wanted you to like me. and i thought that’s what it took to make it last. it’s a lose, lose. that i don’t choose. but you don’t always choose the ones you love. i shouldn’t have to be the bigger person. how come i have to break to keep us working? it’s always up to me, even though it shouldn’t be. i’ll take the blame the way you want me to. ‘cause that’s what i do for you. i was half of this dynamic. i was stable, you were manic. without you or with you comes with a cost. i got used to the excuses and emotional abuses. we kept moving the lines we never crossed. it’s a lose, lose that i don’t choose. but you don’t always choose the ones you love. shouldn’t have to be the bigger person. how come i have to break to keep us working? it’s always up to me, even though it shouldn’t be. i’ll take the blame the way you want me to. ‘cause that’s what i do for you. i always think it’s over, but it never really is. but i can’t get the closure when you’re like this. can we switch? maybe this time you’ll be the bigger person. ‘cause i’m getting tired of carrying all your burden. it should be up to you, but you won’t admit the truth, oh-oh. shouldn’t have to be the bigger person. how come i have to break to keep us working? it’s always up to me, even though it shouldn’t be. i’ll take the blame the way you want me to. ‘cause that’s what i do for you.”
the crowd cheered again.
“thank you! we have.. four more songs tonight. this next one is would’ve, could’ve, should’ve.”
a crew member came and slipped an electric guitar around your neck. you quietly thanked them as you cleared your throat and the music started.
“if you would’ve blinked, then i would’ve looked away at the first glance. if you tasted poison, you could’ve spit me out at the first chance. if i was some paint, did it splatter on a promising grown man? and if i was a child, did it matter? if you got to wash your hands? oh-oh, oh. all i used to do was pray. would’ve, could’ve, should’ve. if you’d never looked my way, i would’ve stayed on my knees. and i damn sure never would’ve danced with the devil at nineteen. and the god honest truth is that the pain was heaven. and now that i’m grown, i’m scared of ghosts. memories feel like weapons. and now that i know, i wish you’d left me wondering. if you never touched me, i would’ve gone along with the righteous. if i never blushed, then they could’ve never whispered about this. and if you never saved me from boredom, i could’ve gone on as i was. but, lord, you made me feel important… and then you tried to erase us. oh-oh, oh. you’re a crisis of my faith. would’ve, could’ve, should’ve. if i’d only played it safe, i would’ve stayed on my knees. and i damn sure never would’ve danced with the devil at nineteen. and the god honest truth is that the pain was heaven. and now that i’m grown, i’m scared of ghosts. memories feel like weapons. and now that i know, i wish you’d left me wondering. god rest my soul, i miss who i used to be. the tomb won’t close, stained glass windows in my mind. i regret you all the time. i can’t let this go, i fight with you in my sleep. the wound won’t close, i keep on waiting for a sign. i regret you all the time…. if clarity’s in death, then why won’t this die? years of tearing down our banners, you and i. living for the thrill of hitting you where it hurts. give me back my girlhood, it was mine first,” as you held the note, the crowd screamed.
“and i damn sure never would’ve danced with the devil. at nineteen. and the god honest truth is that the pain was heaven. and now that i’m grown, i’m scared of ghosts. memories feel like weapons. and now that i know, i wish you’d left me wondering. god rest my soul, i miss who i used to be. the tomb won’t close, stained glass windows in my mind. i regret you all the time. i can’t let this go, i fight with you in my sleep. the wound won’t close, i keep on waiting for a sign. i regret you all the time. oh, god rest my soul, i miss who i used to be. the tomb won’t close, stained glass windows in my mind. i regret you all the time. i can’t let this go, i fight with you in my sleep. the wound won’t close, i keep on waiting for a sign. i regret you all the time.”
with the final strum of your electric guitar, the crowd stood up to applaud. the crew member switched out the electric guitar for an acoustic one.
“this next one is called ceilings.”
a little bit more applause.
“.. ceilings. plaster. can’t you just make it move faster? lovely to be sitting here with you. you’re kinda cute, but it’s raining. harder. my shoes are now full of water. lovely to be rained on with you. it’s kinda cute but it’s.. so short. then you’re drivin’ me home. and i don’t wanna leave, but i have to go. you kiss me in your car. and it feels like the start of a movie i’ve seen before. before… bedsheets, no clothes. touch me like nobody else does. lovely to just lay here with you. you’re kinda cute and i would say all of this. but i don’t wanna ruin the moment. lovely to sit between comfort and chaos.. but it’s over. then you’re driving me home. and it kinda comes out as i get up to go. you kiss me in your car, and it feels like the start of a movie i’ve seen before.. but it’s not real. and you don’t exist. and i can’t recall the last time i was kissed. it hits me in the car. and it feels like the end of a movie i’ve seen before. before.”
you laughed as you saw melanie and your friends stand up in the back of the bar, dancing on stools.
“i can see my friends dancing.. so badly because they love the next song,” you laugh.
“once the flight had flown. with the wilt of the rose. i slept all alone. you still wouldn’t go. let’s fast forward to three hundred takeout coffees later. i see your profile and your smile on unsuspecting waiters. you dream of my mouth before it called you a lying traitor. you search in every maiden’s bed for something greater, baby. was it over when she laid down on your couch? was it over when he unbuttoned my blouse? ‘come here,’ i whispered in your ear in your dream as you passed out, baby. was it over then? and is it over now? when you lost control. red blood, white snow. blue dress on a boat. your new girl is my clone,” you smiled, knowing was part comes next. “and did you think i didn’t see you, there were flashing lights. at least i had the decency to keep my nights out sight. only rumors ‘bout my hips and thighs, and my whispered sighs. oh, lord. i think about jumping. off of very tall somethings. just to see you coming runnin’, runnin’. and say the one thing i’ve been wanting, but no. let’s. fast forward to three hundred awkward blind dates later. if she's got blue eyes, i will surmise that you'll probably date her. you dream of my mouth before it called you a lying traitor. you search in every model's bed for something greater, baby, was it over when she laid down on your couch? was it over when he unbuttoned my blouse? ‘come here,’ I whispered in your ear in your dream as you passed out, baby. was it over then? and is it over now? oh. oh. think i didn’t see you? there were flashing lights. at least i had the decency to keep my nights out sight. only rumors ‘bout my hips and thighs, and my whispered sighs. oh, lord. i think about jumping. off of very tall somethings. just to see you coming runnin’, runnin’. and say the one thing i’ve been wanting, but no. let’s fast forward to three hundred takeout coffees later. oh. i was hoping you’d be there. and say the one thing i’be been wanting… but no.”
another round of applause as you passed off the guitar.
“so.. this song is not my song. i am.. very nervous for this, but.. this is sign of the times.”
you closed your eyes tightly as the music started, “just stop your crying, it’s a sign of the times. welcome to the final show. hope you're wearing your best clothes. you can't bribe the door on your way to the sky. you look pretty good down here. but you ain't really good.. we never learn, we been here before. why are we always stuck and running from the bullets? the bullets? we never learn, we been here before. why are we always stuck and running from the bullets? the bullets? … just stop your crying it’s a sign of the times. we gotta get away from here. we gotta get away from here. just stop your crying, it’ll be alright. they told me that the end is near. we gotta get away from here. just stop your crying, have the time of your life. breaking through the atmosphere, and things are pretty good from here. remember everything will be alright. we can meet again somewhere. somewhere far away from here.. we never learn, we been here before. why are we always stuck and running from the bullets? the bullets? we never learn, we been here before. why are we always stuck and running from the bullets? the bullets? just stop your crying. it’s a sign of the times. we gotta get away from here. we gotta get away from here. stop your crying, baby, it'll be alright. they told me that the end is near we gotta get away from here. we never learn, we been here before. why are we always stuck and running from the bullets? the bullets?” you finally opened your eyes, trying to find melanie, but instead, you find the last person you expected to be here.
the man whose song you’re literally singing.
Tumblr media
harry was slightly weary when an over-excited girl with light pink hair came up to him and asked him — begged him, really — to come to her best friends show. he wasn’t sure what convinced him. or what possessed him to bring his mother and gemma along with him.
but he had to say, he didn’t.. regret it.
you were pretty — extremely pretty. and you were a crazy good singer. he was pretty sure you were singing his song better than him.
Tumblr media
you swallowed your nerves as you sang the chorus and bridge, keeping eye contact even though you felt like shitting your pants. “we never learn, we been here before. why are we always stuck and running from the bullets? the bullets? we don't talk enough. we should open up. before it's all too much. will we ever learn? we've been here before. it's just what we know. stop your crying, baby. it's a sign of the times. we gotta get away. we got to get away..” you finally looked away, closing your eyes. “we got to get away. we got to get away. we got to get away. we got to, we got to, away. we got to, we got to, away. we got to, we got to, away.”
you let out a shaking exhale as the song ended, backing up from the mic. you bowed and blew kisses to the audience before practically sprinting offstage.

after taking ten minutes to breath, you walked over to the bar, finding melanie pretty easily.
“i love you so much for playing is it over now!”
“i played it just for you and your psycho obsession with it,” you laughed as she yanked you into a hug.
you two pulled away, and you turned around when you felt a presence behind you.
your eyes widened when you were face to face with harry fucking styles.
“hey.. y/n, right?”
you blinked a few times… that couldn’t be real. this was most definitely a prank.
“.. are you alright?”
“yes! sorry, i’m.. yeah, i’m good. hi, yeah. i’m.. y/n.”
he smiled at you, “i’m harry. but.. you seem to already know that, since y’sang my song and all.”
“i.. yeah, i do know who you are,” you laugh awkwardly.
“well, i’m glad to know who you are as well.”
you had to bit your lip to keep from smiling like a psycho.
“oh, and uh.. happy christmas,” he smiled.
you furrowed your brows, grabbing your phone.

Notice: Hello, my darlings! Part 5 is here! This is just a reminder that I do not actually believe Han is gay in real life, due to there being allusions to such in the story, and I own no copyright titles to 'Julie and the Phantoms,' nor its characters! Enjoy the story!
You stood at your locker, humming the beat to your favorite song and dancing slightly without a care in the world. The past few days have been exhilerating, from meeting the phantoms, to performing in front of the school, and revealing the secret to your best friend. Every thing was keeping your energy in good spirits; thus, life was back to normal.
Sort of.
In the midst of your dancing fit, Flynn approached you, tapping you on the shoulder whilst giggling. You jumped out of fright, instantly breathing in once you saw it was her.
"Hey," you exasperatedly greeted, removing your earbuds.
"This is nice," she smiled. "You know, seeing you back to being a total weirdo."
"Thank you?" you furrowed your eyebrows with a playful smirk plastered onto your face.
"So, how's the ghosts?" Flynn intriguedly questioned. "Still cute? Still talented?"
"They're amazing," you nodded. "Chan and I spent all weekend writing songs together." Your heart warmed as you mentioned his name, a soft ache forming in your chest. Lately, the two of you had been spending more time together than usual, and with each passing moment, you found yourself growing more and more fond of him.
"Chan, huh?" Flynn nudged at your arm playfully. "You two have got some dynamic."
"Oh, shut up," you joked. "It's not like that, okay?"
"Sure," Flynn replied, giving an exaggerated wink and causing you to giggle.
"Anyways," you dismissively stated, "do you want to hear some of the songs?"
"Is that even a question?" Flynn rhetorically asked, holding out her hand and expecting to receive a notebook; instead, you linked your arm with hers and led her to the music room, explaining how writing songs with Chan was just like writing with your mom. You additionally rolled your eyes at the 'okay girl, I see you!' comment she made.
"This is the first song we wrote," you explained, beginning to play the piano skillfully as you sang the chorus to the song, 'Edge of Great,' you and Chan had devised.
"Cause we're standing on the edge of great great great"
Flynn bobbed her head back and forth, snapping her fingers to the beat.
"Love!" she exclaimed. "It's giving Lady Gaga!"
"Thanks!" you beamed genuinely at your best friend. "Now, this next one, I think we have an anthem with. My mom and I were working on it, and Chan and I finished it." Flynn gave you a knowing look, smirking smugly. "Don't," you warned with a pointer finger before diverting your attention back to the piano to sing the second melody.
"And it's one, two, three, four times That I'll try for one more night Light a fire in my eyes I'm going out of my mind"
Flynn's demeanor was different with this song; instead of appearing upbeat, she was more relaxed, more solemn.
"That's beautiful, y/n," she complimented; you nodded your head in agreement before Flynn spoke once more: "My girl's got a crush and his name is Chan."
"What?!" you interrobanged, throwing your hands up in retaliation. "Chan is a ghost! Even if I did have a crush on him, it would be...weird to figure that kind of thing out."
"He may be a ghost, but he's a cute ghost, and even if you can't touch him, you can still admire him," Flynn countered, causing you to blush.
"Okay, yeah," you finally agreed, rolling your eyes. "He is a cute ghost. A cute ghost with a perfect smile." Flynn instantly clasped her hands together, bouncing up and down in joy.
You had finally admitted it to both Flynn and yourself: you did have a crush on Chan, and in truth, you probably always had since the moment you met him. He was cute, talented, sweet, everything you admired, and, most of all, your motivation. There was nothing about him that you could dislike. With all the time the two of you had spent together recently, your feelings had become impossible to ignore. Maybe, you thought, a ghostly crush wouldn’t be so bad after all.
"I knew it!" Flynn practically screamed. "I saw it in the way you looked at him! Just remember though: he's made out of air."
"Cute air," you retaliated, making Flynn smirk slightly.
"Just don't get yourself hurt," she warned. "You guys obviously have chemistry; I mean, everyone wants to know when you guys are playing again."
"Play again?" you repeated, quirking an eyebrow. "We have absolutely nothing planned. Chan and I have just been focused on writing songs."
"Lucky for you, your advertising team already has something figured out," she nodded excitedly, going to pull a paper out of her backpack.
"I don't have an advertising-," you were cut off as Flynn displayed the paper to you; it was a photograph of a guitar, bold white letters reading as follows:
"Y/n and Her Hologram Band! Tonight At the Dance!"
"Surprise!" Flynn exclaimed, handing you the flier. "I'm DJ-ing tonight as well, so I thought it would be perfect! I posted it all over Insta. By the way, you have an excellent advertising team."
You stared at the flier, concern prominent in your gaze; sure, you had performed in front of the school before, but it was mainly just the athletes and music students. At the dance, the entire student body would be there; you had an ounce of stage fright creep up on you as you pushed the flier away.
"Absolutely not," you shook your head, your voice trembling slightly. "Flynn, I cannot perform in front of the entire school!" Just then, Flynn's phone buzzed, and she tsked as she checked the notification.
"Sorry, girl," she apologized with faux sympathy. "Your post already has 100 likes." She walked away before you could argue back; you groaned in response, grabbing your stuff in attempts to catch up with her.
---
"We're playing a school dance? Sweet!" Changbin punched the air victoriously as he analyzed the flier.
"It's not exactly the Orpheum," Chan tsked as he made eye contact with you, a shy smile forming on your face as you shook your head.
"And you, my friend, are not exactly alive, so you should be happy we have a gig after 29 years!" Changbin countered, earning a playful nudge from Chan.
"Don't worry, Chan," you began. "I wasn't a huge fan of the idea at first either, but, it could be a great way for us to gain a following."
"No, you're right," Chan instantly agreed with you, causing Changbin to look at him with confusion. "Let's rock those kids' faces off, then play at clubs."
"Then, we record a single that gets us a million streams?" you questioned, looking at the boy hopefully.
"I have no idea what streams are, but hopefully they get us a manager, a record deal, and a world tour," he winked playfully as he clicked his tongue, shooting a pointer finger in your direction.
"Then, we release a bunch of hit albums!" you continued.
"Put out a country album that does surprisingly well!" Changbin added on, causing you to furrow your eyebrows. "I can shred on a banjo."
"Then, I will learn how to fiddle," you agreed, giving Changbin a no-contact fist bump.
"And before you know it, we're winning our first Grammy!" Chan banged his hands against the piano as he stood up from his leaning position.
"But one of us isn't there!" Changbin said. "Because we had a blowout in 2036. My money's on Han; he's just so emotional."
"Well, what are we waiting for? Let's rehearse!" Chan yelled out.
"Wait, where's Han?"
---
"You know, I don't think this is about art," Han told Minho as the two stood outside of an abandoned museum. "I think you're just a rule-breaker."
"Perhaps," Minho smirked, poking his tongue at the side of his cheek. "You should try it; y'know, loosen up a little."
Han's gaze fixated on the doors to the museum before he nodded slowly and pointed to the building.
"We're going in there, aren't we?" Minho did not answer, instead taking Han's hand in his and dragging him straight through the museum doors.
"Well, would you lookie there?" Minho asked, looking around at the structures. "We have the whole place to ourselves." The boy put his helmet on and began to skate around the building, kick flipping over statues and ollying on benches within the museum.
"Hey, dude, move that bench. I want to do a trick on that pillar," Minho commanded Han, leading the younger to shrug.
"I can't move things," he admitted shyly. "I can barely move photos and stuff."
"Just put all of your energy into your hands," Minho advised. "Then, you can move anything." Han nodded, taking in a deep breath and attempting Minho's method; however, his hands passed right through the bench, leading him to sigh deeply.
"I guess I need to do some ghost push-ups," Han jokingly stated.
"No, you just need to focus," Minho countered.
"Yeah, well I've never been good at focusing," Han confessed, smiling meekly. "I've always been an anxious person, and then I died, which did not make things any better."
Minho nodded in understanding, holding up his hand and motioning for Han to put his in front of his own. He held the two limbs together, smiling at the latter.
"We got this, okay?" Minho reassured Han, causing the younger to nod his head, feeling a bit more relaxed. The two leaned down to the bench, Minho having a firm hand planted on Han's back. With a bunch of concentration, the two lifted one end of the bench together, causing them both to grin.
"Okay, you have like ten seconds before this bench comes down!" Han laughed as he spoke, and Minho dashed to the other side; the two shuffled their feet as they moved the bench out of the way, giggling through the whole ordeal. Minho followed the action up with the trick he was wanting to do off of the bench, sitting down afterwards and breathing a bit heavily.
After a while, he glanced up at Han, removing his helmet as he beamed.
"You're wired a little tight," he commented, motioning for Han to sit beside of him on the bench.
Han chuckled, doing what the older requested and analyzing his surroundings.
"Is that why you started playing drums?" Minho questioned. "To help with your anxiety?"
"Pretty much," Han explained. "There's no better way to work through fear than to wail on a drumset, right?"
Minho agreed solumnly before instantly standing up.
"You know what makes me feel better?" he asked. "Yelling in museums." He followed his response up with a loud scream, gesturing for Han to do the same. Han did do so, but incredibly weakly, making Minho roll his eyes.
"No, man! You have to put your heart into it!" With that, he let out another yell; Han followed once more, much more loudly this time.
Thus, the two guys spent a good twenty minutes screaming in the middle of an abandoned museum, holding onto one another as they did so, and following each scream with fits of laughter.
---
"One more time," Chan declared; you, him, and Changbin were practicing the song for the dance tonight. It was another one you and Chan had wrote together, titled, 'Finally Free." Chan riffed on his guitar with Changbin playing his bass to compliment and you adding beats on your keyboard. In the middle of rehearsal, Han appeared, smiling the day away.
"And where have you been, good sir?" Chan raised a curious eyebrow. "We need to practice!"
"For what?" Han crossed his arms as he inquired; at that time, Flynn burst through the garage doors.
"I got news!" she struck an exaggerated pose as she walked in. "I don't have a date, but it doesn't matter because I am just excited to see you guys perform!"
"Yo, we're playing a dance?" Han asked the guys, bewilderment etched on his face.
"I mean, why not man? It's how we get a following," Chan nodded towards you, repeating your priorly mentioned words.
"Yeah, get with the times, Han," you smirked at the boy, earning a cheeky grin from Chan.
"The guys are here?!" Flynn exclaimedly asked. "Hey guys!" She waved at thin air.
"Other way, babes," you raised your eyebrows as you pointed to where the phantoms were standing. She turned in the motioned direction, waving at the actual ghosts, to which they invisibly reciprocated.
"Anyways, we were about to start rehearsing. Wanna stick around?" you asked Flynn.
"Let's see, I have to blow up about 500 ballons for the dance, set up my DJ equipment, and reply to comments under your promotional post. I'd love to stay! Let me go grab my bag real quick!"
"Wait, y/n, before I forget," Chan called out once Flynn had left, placing his guitar on the stand. "There's some 3RACHA songs I want to show you." He made his way over the the amp in the garage, picking up the notebook laying on top of it in order to show you the melodies; however, he paused for a second, his eyes scanning over a song that had been taped to the front of his book.
"'Home is Where My Horse Is,'" Chan read out loud, slamming the notebook against the amp before removing the page. "Changbin, stop putting your country songs in my journal!"
"That was a gift!" Changbin countered as Chan handed you the notebook, shoving the song into Changbin's hands, slightly crumpling the paper as he did so.
"I starred the ones I know you would kill," he smiled genuinely, and a sudden warmth spread through you, making your stomach tighten with excitement. You flipped through the pages, reading the song titles until you came across one called, "Unsaid Emily."
"Who's Emily?" you asked Chan, intrigued at the name; you assumed it was a past partner, causing a bit of jealousy to coarse through you, yet the curiosity overwhelmed the negativity.
"That one isn't starred," Chan snapped, attempting to snatch the journal from you; you jerked it back from his reach, his rough actions surprisingly you slightly since they went against the gentle manner you had grown to admire.
"If you could only know, I'd never let you go," you read the lyrics out loud, revelling in Chan's penmanship. "Wow, Channie. I didn't know you were so romantic!"
"Well, y/n, the song's actually about-"
"No one," Chan cut Han off before he could clarify. "I just tried writing a love song one day, and uh," he halted in his words, trying to grab the journal again but failing. "If you go to the next page though, there's a starred song that's got a tune perfect for your range. I'll show you the tune for it."
Chan picked his guitar back up, plucking at the strings as he riffed a familiar melody. You furrowed your eyebrows at the tune.
"When did you guys sample that song?" you questioned, causing the boys to look at each other in uncertainty.
"What?"
"Sample. As in use another artist's work for inspiration," you explained. "Me and my mom used to sing that song together all of the time back when I was little. It's a classic Sam Hwang song."
"Nope," Chan corrected. "It's a classic our song." He set the sheet music in front of you, his gaze boring into yours.
"Yep, one-hundred percent 3RACHA!" Changbin put in. "Don't even know who Sam Hwang is!"
"Yeah, you're probably just mixing it up with another song," Han inputted.
"I'm not one to mix up songs," you retaliated. "Me and his daughter were best friends once, and I used to crash at their place daily. I know that song. Here, I'll show you." You pulled out your laptop, pulling up a biopic of Sam Hwang and turning your computer around to show the ghosts.
"His first album had tons of hits, but his latest stuff isn't all too great." Han smacked his hand against Chan's chest, he and Changbin's eyes widening in pure shock. You did not understand their reactions until Chan spoke.
The man pictured was definitely older than the boys remembered; however, he still had the same scraggly black hair from the 90s, adorned by his almond-shaped, dark brown eyes and slight smile the guys remembered all too well.
"That's Hyunjin."
"Seriously?" you sighed. "I just told you his name is Sam."
"Okay, whatever. He must have changed it," Han held his hand up dismissively, his eyes never leaving the laptop's screen. "That is most definitely Hyunjin. He was our rhythm guitarist!"
"Sam Hwang was in your band?" you questioned, disbelief prominent in your tone.
"Y/n," Chan called as he dismissed your question, his voice low and a touch saddened. "What were his other hits?" You began listing songs off such as, "Get Lost," "Long Weekend," and "Crooked Teeth," all of which the ghosts confirmed to have been written by Chan, the last of the three being argued upon whether it was written about Changbin or Han. Chan made his way to the back of the room, picking up a handful of playing darts and chucking them angrily at the game board.
"This is freaky," you breathed out, your expression morphing into slight dismay. "Sam's songs are kind of big to me. He's the one who got me into rock!"
"Well, congratulations," Han cheered sarcastically. "Chan got you into rock."
"So, this whole time, I thought you were connected to my mom," you started, shaking your head in indecision. "But you've been connected to Carrie's dad instead?"
"Yeah, well add that to our list of questions," Han shrugged.
"I just don't get it," you sighed. "When Carrie and I were still friends, the three of us talked about music constantly. He never once mentioned you guys."
"Which is absurd!" Chan screamed as he flung the last dart at the target. "He took all of the credit for my work, our work, and never had the decency to mention us? He stole our legacy." All three of the boys' faces dropped, their hearts sinking as they took Chan's words into account.
Hyunjin had stolen all that they had worked for; all that was rightfully theirs.
"Where does he live?" Chan inquired, his tone lowering alarmingly deep.
"Above the beach in Malibu," you told Chan, causing him to pick up his jacket.
"Alright boys," Chan gave an angry smile. "Let's go teach our old friend a lesson."
"Wait, what?" you stood up, astounded at Chan's statement. "Guys, we have to rehearse for the dance! It's our first gig!"
Before you could continue, the guys teleported away, revenge the only think present on their minds.
---
"Hyunjin's house is ridiculous!" Han yelled.
The three ghosts roamed around the lustrious mansion, ogling and angering at every luxurious sight; this mansion was supposed to be theirs.
"Have you seen these platinum records?" Han continued, causing Changbin to whip around.
"I'm sorry, platinum?!"
"He recorded 'My Name is Chris," Chan bewilderedly stated, glaring at one of the records. "My name is Chris!" he screamed out, pointing to himself.
At that moment, Hyunjin walked through the door, taking off his shoes as he stepped in.
"It's him!" Changbin alerted the other two boys as soon as he took notice.
"Hey, Carrie! I'm going to meditate!" he called to his daughter, who responded by saying she was in the den of the house.
"He wears sunglasses indoors," Changbin motioned to the man as he walked up the stairs. "I can't stand him!"
"Time for his past to haunt him," Chan whispered enraged, as all three boys raced upstairs after him.
The boys found Hyunjin sitting criss crossed on the floor, adorned in casual clothes as he breathed deeply in and out. Candles and esences were lit around the whole room, created a peaceful aroma. As Hyunjin continued his meditation, he suddenly felt a wet sensation in his ear-lobe, as if someone had given him a wet-willy; Chan was the culprit behind this trick, an old favorite he used to subject the boy to in the 90s.
Hyunjin rubbed the spot briefly before attempting to go back to his quietness. Yet, it happened again, only this time, Han blew the candles out for an added effect; furthermore, Changbin placed a 3RACHA CD into Hyunjin's music player, causing the rock beat to echo throughout his bedroom; he quickly got up from his position and switched the player off, but it turned back on once more, which made Hyunjin unplug the machine entirely.
He had hoped the string of weirdness had ceased; however, his hopes diminished as he heard the sound of running water coming from the upstairs bathroom.
"Carrie?" he called out, hoping his daughter was just washing her hands or showering; however, as he peered into the bathroom, he found sight of no one, yet the shower had been switched on. His hands trembled as he turned the shower handle off, his attention quickly diverting to squeaking coming from the mirror. In the steam elicitng from the hot shower water, Chan wrote a message for his friend:
"Hello, Hyunjin."
Hyunjin gasped deeply at the message; he had not been called that name in years. He darted out of the bathroom, attempting running downstairs, but his face quickly came into contact with a closed door. He pushed and shoved and pulled, but he could not open his bedroom door; this was Han's fun, as he held the door closed while the other boys snickered. Hyunjin was growing more and more fearful by the minute, convinced his past was back to haunt him.
Which, to be fair, it was indeed.
"Let! Me! Out!" he screamed at the top of his lungs; at that point, han released the door handle, causing Hyunjin to nearly fall as he ran out of the room. The phantoms laughed, high fiving one another as he ran downstairs, mentioning something to Carrie about how he was going to see his therapist.
The ghosts teleported outside just as Hyunjin was taking off from his helicopter, their hair blowing as the blades whirred.
"Guys, let's moon him before he gets too far away!" Changbin suggested.
"He can't see us," Han reminded the older.
"It's not for him, bro," Chan retaliated. "It's for us." With that, all three guys pulled their pants down, showing off their "moons" as Hyunjin flew away, shouting, "Take that Bobby!"
"You guys having fun?" You had appeared seemingly out of thin air, causing the boys to jump and jerk their pants back up. You had snuck into the house with Flynn, who was currently keeping Carrie distracted about a, "raccoon in her backyard."
"You would do the same if he stole all of your songs, y/n," Chan held out a hand, gesturing towards you.
"Sure, but the only way to get back at him is for this band to be great," you retaliated. "Which means playing at dances, then at clubs-"
"Then on tours," Chan finished your sentence as he approached you. "I know. We just wanted to get back at him if only for a little bit."
"I get that." You placed your hand on Chan’s arm, the warmth there fading as your fingers brushed through him, unable to grasp anything solid. You let out a quiet sigh, still yearning for the physical connection you could not quite have with your ghostly crush. "I'll see you guys at the school. We play at 9:00. Don't be late," you warned, as all of the guys reassured you that they would be there. Once you walked away, Changbin dropped his smile.
"I'm glad we scared Hyunjin," he stated in contrast to his previous apologies and comforts. "We honestly should have done more, like written 'thief' on his forehead or something."
"And Han, how were you able to keep the door shut?" Chan questioned. "You were barely able to open the garage door a couple of days ago."
"Learned that from your new friend Minho, didn't ya?" Changbin nudged the younger teasingly.
"Yeah, he taught me a couple of neat tricks," Han admitted. "Plus, we screamed in a museum. Long story," he added on, noting Chan and Changbin's taken aback gazes.
"You think he can teach us some tricks?" Chan asked.
"Let's find out."
---
"You brought friends!" Minho exclaimed as he brought Han in for a hug. The three bandmates had teleported to the park, where Han had assured Minho would be at skating.
"Yep! These are my bandmates," Han introduced the two boys as they gave small waves.
"Cool, I'm Minho," he reciprocated the greeting, giving fist bumps to both ghosts. "So, you wanna learn some tricks?" To add emphasis to the question, Minho flicked his finger towards a nearby police scooter, causing the sirens and lights to go off, allowing two teenagers that had been questioned by the officers.
"Well, we were thinking a little bigger," Chan explained. "Y'see, we've got an old mate who stole our songs, and we want to confront him face to face."
"Is the old friend a lifer?" Minho asked first, Han explaining how that was "fancy ghost lingo" for living people.
"Then yeah," Changbin agreed. "He's a lifer! Too much of a fancy pants to eat some Street Dogs." Changbin scoffed as he crossed his arms.
Minho sighed.
"I'm sorry. Speaking to lifers is out of my realm." The phantoms' faces sunk in, their expressions going dim. "There is someone I know who may be able to help you guys." Minho immediately thought of a friend, his words causing the boys to lighten back up. "He is kind of a big deal, though."
"Anything will help us, big or small," Chan assured.
"Sweet. Well, let me go take care of a couple of things, and then I want you guys to meet me where Han and I met at 8:00. Sound good?" The boys eagerly nodded at Minho's demands, the young boy smiling as he skated away following their agreement.
---
"Do we have any Bobcats in the house?!" Flynn asked the crowd of dancers, causing the gym floor to erupt in cheer.
The dance was lively, full of energy as blue and purple lights flashed amongst the crowd. You had to push yourself through the hyperactive students to get on stage, motioning to Flynn to head to the edge of the stage with a holographic projector in your hand.
"How you feeling?" Flynn yelled over the loud music and chatter.
"Nervous," you responded in the same octave of voice.
"You'll be fine! Let's set up your gear!" she gestured for you to come backstage, excitement present in her demeanor. You rushed onstage, hugging Flynn tightly as she complimented your outfit.
You were wearing a rainbow mesh crop top over a black tank-top, adorned with baggy grey cargo jeans and your hair styled in messy space buns.
"It's my mom's," you explained. "I finally went through her things."
"She would have loved you wearing that," Flynn smiled, genuine words coming from her lips. "Where are the guys?"
"On their way," you responded, confident in your words. "They know how important is to me, so I'm sure they'll be here."
---
"Oh hey, Seungmin? I brought those ghosts I met. It's still cool that they're here, right?"
"Of course, Minho. I even reserved a special table for them."
"Alright, awesome! Thank you!"
"No, no. Thank you."

Pretty Series song reviews: Pure Amore Ai
Tumblr media
I tried (and failed) to be normal about this song.
Song
This song has such a 'perfect' or 'completed' kind of sound, like a perfect circle. It sounds so complete that I actually think the full version is a downgrade musically, although I am grateful for the additional lyrics.
The overall sound ditches PriPara's usual maximalist vibe for a carefully-balanced orchestral track that never goes overboard, but is also never underwhelming. With a few changes, it could easily become one of those 'spiritual experience' songs (like Sevendays Love, Sevendays Friend), but it isn't like that due to the harmonic instrumentals that mostly stay on-key and stick to traditional chord progressions, as well as the fact that the song moves along well and never lingers on any moment for too long. I think it's wise for this song to not go that far, since the goal is to be theatrical rather than spiritual.
Of every song in the Pretty Series, this is definitely the one I know best. I swear I can recreate almost every little detail in my head – the subtleties in vocal delivery, the single bell strike in the first verse, the drum patterns, those totally unnecessary glitter SFX in the second verse (actually, it's Hibiki, so glitter is always necessary). I love the way the intro's instrumentals seamlessly pass the melody back and forth between different instruments.
The first verse is attention-grabbing and slightly intimidating, but it's mostly just there to set up the rest of the song, so it's not as addicting as the other parts. (Honestly, when I first heard the first verse, I thought I wouldn't like the song at all.) I also kind of wonder why the second half of the first verse has such an intense, rock-like beat. It was probably just to make Hibiki seem intense and intimidating. But it's a bit out of place, considering that the rest of the drum track is light, subtle and unobtrusive.
The second verse feels like a release, changing from sparse and serious into something a lot more free-feeling. From there it slows down a bit and then seamlessly moves in into the chorus, which feels even more free. The chorus is somewhat repetitive and simple, but also dynamic. The fast-ish speed and good execution makes it feel like a hypnotic whirlwind.
The last part of the main melody, as well as the glissando at the end of the song, both give it a neat, definite conclusion that reminds you this is a villain song.
I think it was unnecessary for that one part to have those soprano opera vocals. They almost make the song feel like a religious song, when it's really supposed to be more of a musical theatre song.
Vocals
It sounds crazy to say this now, but initially I was not so sure about these vocals. Hibiki's voice is so different from that of every other PriPara character, and the song begins in a lower range, so at the beginning, it didn't even really sound like singing to me. (Hibiki's lower range sort of feels like it's dragging the melody down into flatness – Bell and Amane are like this too.) But the first long note is like a peek into what's to come, and by the time the B-melody hits, the vocals are shining. They just keep getting better as the song goes on, so by the time the song was done, I was like "oh okay, I love this".
Surprisingly, despite the deep sound of the vocals, this song is comfortably within the alto range (F3 - B♭4). The chorus is in a range where I would have to use mixed voice (or maybe even head voice on a bad day), and my voice is nowhere near as deep as Hibiki's. So this song is actually very difficult to sing regardless of voice type, because those with higher voices would have to force a lower range, but those with deeper voices (i.e. Hibiki) have to maintain their voice's richness and stability while singing in a higher range that makes it difficult to do that. Really, the only way to sing this is through sheer force, which Hibiki does excellently.
What's really amazing is how the delivery of the second verses is nearly identical to the first. Maybe that's really common, but I noticed it a lot due to Hibiki's distinctive voice. Perhaps it's slightly boring to sing like that, but it's a very professional way of singing, displaying the singer's level of thoughtfulness and control.
Lyrics
The lyrics are very wordy and a bit confusing, and I have to say, I don't really understand them much better now than I did all those years ago. My interpretation changed after reading an analysis saying that these lyrics were not just about love in the usual sense, but also about Hibiki's love for PriPara. I'm not sure whether it's true, but it's making me think. (And it helps me relate more to the lyrics since the strongest, most intense love I've ever felt was not for a person but for something more abstract.) Still, I want to understand the lyrics without projecting onto them. And I think that the lyrics are mostly about the type of love that is felt toward Hibiki. There are essays on this, and you should read those if you're interested (I'll link to one later), but it's basically about Hibiki's persona, and the way that kind of persona can make people feel. They are in love with the persona, even though the persona is a lie. The lie could not exist if people were not in love with it. If "Pure Amore Ai" is a manifesto, "boku wa aru" is the thesis.
The full version's lyrics make me cry.
Choreography
When I was younger and more shameless and had good leg flexibility, I was always like "I'm gonna learn this dance one day", but then I didn't and now my leg flexibility isn't so good anymore. Well, it's probably for the best, since this dance, like everything else, is cringe! But just because it's cringe doesn't mean it's bad.
The dance starts off fairly low-intensity and remains that way until suddenly the chorus comes and it's just crazy stunts and so much leg. Amazing.
The lyrics and choreography are closely linked, so it's worth wondering what some of the dance moves mean. For example, during the part before the chorus, Hibiki says 隣人 (neighbours), but touches the ground. The lyrics imply that these people are equals, but the dance implies that Hibiki sees them as lesser. The same move is repeated when Hibiki starts to explain what love "really" is.
There's also a lot of pointing in the choreography, mostly either pointing up (during lyrics about big, grandiose things) or pointing straight ahead (during lyrics directed at the audience). However, during the lyric about love being a foolish impulse, the choreography is pointing up and then moving the arm down, almost like it's representing disillusionment. I'm not as sure about the intent this one as I am about the touching the ground. It could just be a coincidence.
Visuals
The crystals that constantly shift and reflect light are very cool, and give the stage a slightly ethereal vibe. The runway has a chess motif, which is perhaps a nod to Hibiki's role as a chessmaster in the plot.
The Making Drama is as over-the-top and hammy as ever, with lots of references to The Rose of Versailles, Princess Knight, and Revolutionary Girl Utena. I learned about these series from an essay on Hibiki that I read years ago, and I usually try to avoid linking to other blogs these days, but I'm just gonna link to this one in case anyone's interested. I hope it's okay that I'm linking to it. The whole blog is dedicated to Hibiki, BTW.
Anyway, I haven't read/watched Princess Knight, but apparently the main character of that was born with both a pink 'girl' heart and a blue 'boy' heart. It's worth noting that, in the Making Drama, Hibiki only has a blue heart. Gender theorists can do whatever they want with this information.
I love that the end of the performance goes straight-up villainous in a matter of seconds. It has a bit of a boiling frog feeling to it, where curiosity turns into enjoyment turns into enabling. Like you, as an audience, allowed this to happen.
Good points: E V E R Y T H I N G Bad points: First verse isn't as good as the rest of the song, operatic vocals during the instrumental part were not necessary
Rating: 9.5/10 Personal rating: Also 9.5/10 (10/10 in my heart)

clancy tour (watching a livestream) essay 🙏
anon, this question made me so unbelievably happy omg. i just can't get around to the eras tour essay, however, i do feel the need to write, so we're doing this instead.
for the context: i woke up at 5:30 today to watch the livestream of clancy LA show. no, i wasn't there in person. but mentally i was.
please, listen to this incredible playlist while you read my essay (no one's gonna read, it mark my words):
i have decided we will just go through the entire setlist. i don't want to make this too long but i wanna talk about EVERY. SINGLE. SONG. let's fucking go.
OVERCOMPENSATE
so this is when i started crying. who the fuck cries on overcompensate, you would ask... well, me, apparently. i honestly think this is the best opener for both, an album and a show. this song gives me so much serotonin i can't even explain it. i'm always worried about tyler tho because his entrance looks dangerous (the jump, the jump, I AM TALKING ABOUT THE JUMP!). nothing bad happened tho, thankfully. i also noticed he was wearing the other version of clancy jacket today, the one with the hood. not that it's important, but it kinda is. for me at least.
HOLDING ON TO YOU
ok, so if you know me you probably know this is my ultimate favourite twenty one pilots song. and the live performance is even better with the crowd stand at the beginning (i swear to god, it's so incredible to me how much trust tyler has for the clique), clancy mask and lightbulb mic (you can tell tyler has a lot of fun with it), and my favourite part - josh's piano backflip during the bridge of the song. fucking iconic. what's not to love.
VIGNETTE
first thing i want to talk about is the insane transition from holding on to you to vignette. honestly, all transitions are so fucking amazing on clancy tour, it's impressive. now, tyler's little dance during this song is one of the most adorable things i've ever seen (he is such a cat omg) and and and! NEIL BANGING OUT THE TUNES!!! i'll be honest with you, because of this part vignette became one of my favourite songs from clancy and definitely one of my faves from this tour.
CAR RADIO
another one of my favourites. car radio will always hold a very special place in my heart, it's so relatable to me. it makes me so happy that we have a chance to see it being performed in clancy costume (and clancy mask!!!). and when tyler teleports at the end! (also i think he's wearing a totally different jacket in this clip which probably means he has three different clancy jackets, i have no proof tho so i'm just gonna shut up. the video is from LA night one tho. not my show). here's another clip, you can see how he teleported here.
THE JUDGE
ok, so for those who don't know, right before every show the fans in their incredible outfits are being filmed while singing the judge together and every night they show a different video of them singing first verse + chorus and then after that tyler comes out with his ukulele to finish the song. it makes me cry for no reason at all. yes, i cried today too (it just makes me so happy to see all the clikkies singing together and they all look so beautiful always). so what happened today? content warning glitch happened during fan video, you can watch it here, then blurryface tweeted this:
Tumblr media
i am losing my goddamn mind over this, people on the livestream were losing their shit when this happened, I STARTED CRYING LIKE A GODDAMN FOOL BECAUSE I'M SO FUCKING EMOTIONAL ABOUT EVERYTHING THIS BAND IS DOING. ugh. i was so right to watch today's livestream. something's gonna happen soon guys. they are warning us.
(i added CUT MY LIP to the playlist but technically it's the judge/cut my lip mashup so there's really not much to say about it)
THE CRAVING + TEAR IN MY HEART
the transition. the goddamn transition!!! it's honestly so fucking cool and probably one of my favourite parts of the tour. i absolutely love all jenna's songs and everyone who says they should not be on the setlist, fuck you forever. in this house we stan all jenna's songs. i usually cry on the craving and tyler is being so silly during tear in my heart - this is my favourite thing in the world. plus, do you really hate the sound of ukulele???
BACKSLIDE
ok, i actually started crying as soon as i realized we're singing backslide now. i love this song so goddamn much, it means the world to me. at one point it was my favourite song from clancy. the chorus breaks my poor little heart every single time and live performance of this song is so emotional... especially at the end when tyler is on his knees (the video is not from tonight's show but it's my favourite one from backslide, please watch it, his vocals here are INSANE). it's like crying for help. i wanna kill myself now. i relate to this song so much. also, backslide is the reason i decided to buy clancy tour tickets, so there's that.
SHY AWAY
oh, thank god this one is on the setlist. you know how much i love scaled and icy and i think out of all the songs from this album shy away is the best one to put on the setlist because the live performance is always so fun!!! don't you shy aWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!! the scream is absolutely fucking everything oh my god. actually, i just love when tyler screams. but don't we all.
HEATHENS + NEXT SEMESTER
ok, now don't hate me, please, but i was never the biggest fan of heathens (i don't hate the song, i like it, just not as much as the others. i probably wouldn't cry if it wasn't on the setlist). however, the transition (again!!!) from heathens to next semester is the best goddamn thing in the entire world and i am losing my mind every single time i come across any clip of this moment. please, watch it, this is everything!!! one question tho: i know tyler was playing bass on the platform for next semester and he didn't do that today, did he just stop doing this recently or is it because of what happened yesterday during the show? (not during this song tho, or at least i know nothing about it, but it seems like LA fans absolutely cannot behave and he was definitely being more careful today, more about it later tho).
ROUTINES IN THE NIGHT
oh boy, this is my vigilante shit for real. remember vigilante shit performance from the eras tour and how everyone was losing their shit when they saw taylor doing the choreography with this motherfucking chair? yes. it's basically that except tyler is fully dressed. which is even worse maybe (y'all know how i feel about his clothes for some reason). one of my favourite songs from the album, but after seeing the live performance for the first time i became absolutely obsessed with the song. i was genuinely scared today because this is basically what happened last night in LA (i swear to god people are acting like fucking animals) and i noticed that tyler was being much more careful this time: he wasn't coming so close to people, and honestly good for him. he didn't even let them touch him during this part. i can't blame him. i feel so bad for what happened. hope he's ok.
ADDICT WITH A PEN + MIGRAINE + FOREST + FALL AWAY
my favourite mashup in the entire fucking world. but before we get into it, please this is so fucking funny and adorable. so basically, before playing the mashup, tyler sat by the piano and he said "currently i'm temperature hot. so i would want to take my jacket off, i promise not to turn on all the dads tonight" and then this happened. poor guy didn't know what to do LMAO. he's such a cutie, please watch the video, he's so adorable i can't. he's also the funniest person on earth. back to the topic, the mashup... i am such a slut for their old songs and this mashup is absolutely fucking insane. the song i love the most out of those is, of course, forest. according to tyler, this song is so old it basically doesn't exist. fuck you, tyler joseph. i can't believe i'm going to hear it live tho, holy shit. i will be fucking SOBBING during this part, i just know that.
MULBERRY STREET
this is such a fun song to play live and one of my favourite moments. you can tell how much fun tyler has each time they play it, also this! this is everything!!! he's always so happy when this happens, he trained us well hahaha. it's so fun omg. can't wait to be a part of it. this has always been one of my favourite songs from scaled and icy so i'm glad they decided to keep it on the setlist.
NAVIGATING
get in, losers. we are entering the lore now. ok, honestly, this part of the tour is absolutely everything to me. torchbearer with his torch? and clancy jacket?? coming to pick him up so they can perform while dema is burning??? AAAAAAAAAAAAAA. oh my GODD. also, navigating is so special to me (i picked this url for a reason) and live performance of this song is fucking fire. watch it. watch the clip. just watch the goddamn clip, will you? we all know this song is on the setlist because of josh, so everybody say thank you josh. also you can tell tyler is very emotional about this song and i just wanna give him a hug. oh my god. i can't wait to hear it live. this will fix me (it will probably make me worse).
NICO AND THE NINERS + HEAVYDIRTYSOUL
the MOTHERFUCKING transition!!! i know i say this a lot but i am such a slut for all the transitions on this tour, oh my god. they are so good. also i absolutely fucking love how we're still in the lore and also, the visuals are absolutely incredible, and also, nico and the niners is one of my favourite songs (the one that got me into their music actually) and also heavydirtysoul live is INSANE and also-
MY BLOOD
ok, i'm sorry, i keep forgetting that this song is on the setlist. it's not one of my favourites (don't fucking hate me, i like it, it's just not my fave). i will be very much singing it at the concert tho cause it's so good live. not much to say about it tho.
OLDIES STATION
boy, here we go. so i started crying at the very beginning of the song and honestly i have no idea how i'm going to handle this live. i am so very normal about this song. it means everything to me. the worst part of it tho was when during the song tyler said "thank you so much for using our music. you've saved us in ways you'll never know". OH MY GOD. i started weeping even more. it's like... their music saved US but we also saved THEM and i need 3-5 business days to recover after that. good lord. listen, i love slowtown and i'm sad that it's not part of the setlist anymore, but i love oldies station a hundred times more and that was a good change me thinks.
FAKE YOU OUT + GUNS FOR HANDS
putting those two together just because i can and i will. vessel is such a great album and it makes me so happy that those two are on the setlist. screaming "our brains are sick but that's okay" with the entire arena is going to fix me, for sure. also, here's the clip of tyler messing up the lyrics (he basically went kjbufbfkkjejkebfkjk after that lmao). can't blame him. the rap part is so fast. i died tho. he's so funny, please.
LAVISH
i can't even begin to explain how happy i am to have this one on the setlist. it's the funniest moment on tour and i love watching them being stupid on stage. also, jOsH iS sHiRtLeSs. the walk, THE WALK LMAO. the best choreography you've ever seen. i just love seeing them so silly and happy and this is everything. i paid a lot of money to see this live. i'm definitely not gonna regret this.
RIDE
so the thing i love about this tour is that every single night while performing this song tyler brings a different kid to sing the chorus with him (it's the equivalent of giving the hat during 22 on the eras tour i would say). tonight we had an adorable girl named callie (if i'm correct). she did so well! also i was giggling so much when tyler said she's cute (he was giggling too hdshfbhekj). i just love watching him with kids, it's so sweet!!! also she had a great beanie with band's logo, i want one too. please watch the clip of them singing together!
PALADIN STRAIT
i was crying. i was crying so much, i love this song and the live performance is so emotional. i put the song bandito on the playlist, because there's this moment in the song where tyler is singing the bridge of paladin strait and josh is singing bandito at the same time and OH MY GOD. DO YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT THAT MEANS FOR THE LORE??? THIS IS SO CLEVER AND I AM LOSING MY GODDAMN MIND EVERY SINGLE TIME I THINK ABOUT IT. please, watch. this is sick as fuck. you don't understand. do you even understand? OR AM I THE ONLY ONE I KNOW???? i'm sorry i just can't i can't i am defeated i am absolutely insane about this part. also, the ending when they are showing the clip of paladin strait music video combined with other clips which looks like a flashback from clancy's life and his never ending battle with nico? the fuck??? and then we go straight to...
JUMPSUIT
the motherfucking coat. not gonna say anything else. just. the coat. oh dear lord. now i am temperature hot.
MIDWEST INDIGO
now my favourite part of midwest indigo is tyler taking off his coat very slowly. because he fucking knows what he's doing. but also, this song is so special to me. i know he wrote it as a love letter to ohio and i'm not even american but somehow this song always makes me think about my hometown. the live performance is so great. the beginning with the bass! he's adorable!
STRESSED OUT
"i don't want stressed out on the setlist it's so overplayed" kill yourself. i love stressed out because i have good taste. it's fun. it's a great song with great lyrics and you fuckers hate it only because it's popular. just shut up. shut the fuck up. in this house we actually enjoy listening to good songs. i personally want it to be on every setlist. if stressed out has no fans it means i killed myself. i'm dead. i'm gone. stressed out defender forever and always. also clancy tour version is incredible. just watch it and shut the fuck up.
TREES
again, i was so scared about my boys because of what happened yesterday in LA. people are fucking animals. i'm so glad, because tyler actually decided to call them out for this and seems like it was much better today. but still. guys please, behave, cause if you're not gonna start acting responsible they are going to stop performing like this. it's still insane compared to the opening night of clancy tour where people didn't even come closer until tyler told them to. i also just noticed now that tyler's t-shirt had black font today (the previous one had red font) for the first time. i think i was just too tired to notice this before. there's not much i can tell you about trees, because you just simply have to be there to understand. it's a perfect song to end the show (for those who don't know: they always close their shows with this one), it's something i experienced live once before and i can't even compare it to anything. i wasn't even crying. my soul literally just left my body. trust me, there's absolutely nothing like trees live. i can show you thousands of clips and it will never be enough. nobody does it like them. seriously. this is the moment. the moment of all moments. i am in fact crying now...
TO SUM IT UP:
great show. 10/10. would recommend. i'm going to see them live in 223 days. this is the thing that makes me want to stay alive. yes. i need to stay alive for this. whoever sent me this ask, thank you. it means the world to me. i need to talk about them because it's the only joy in my life now. they are the reason i want to push on through. also, if you made it this far, thank you. i love you. and i'm sorry.

So hello hello good evening Budapest. I'm finally home, it's midnight and and and I had the best time of my life!
Many many highlights of the soundcheck and the show:
My question for soundcheck was picked fiiiirst? Hello??? It was absolutely crazy!
The VIP rep, Athena was an absolut angel, big shout out to her! I had a good talk with her after soundcheck and she was he sweetest.
The guys played Long Way Home and Out Of My Limit.
Before questions the VIP rep asked our names and I told her she can say Angie insted of my Hungarian name.
So she did introduce me "someone who her friends know as Angie", and Michael was like: "and what do people call you who you do not consider as friends?" So I had to tell him that basically anyone before age 15 knows me as my real name, and after that, when I started using the internet and didn't like my name I picked up Angie. So he said, okay, Angie.
My question was: what arw you bringing home from tour (souvenir, memory, feeling).
Ash said his mom always asks for fridge magnets and was like "fuck, Mom, no, it would need its own suitcase" and he said he likes travelling light
Luke said a qeak immune system and he stoles keycards from the hotels he sþays in and has tons
Michael said he gets lot of baby clothes and didn't know how much stuff a baby needs
Calum said he has really good memories of this tour
At thw beginning they also was talking about Buda and Pest, as mentioned by Ash in the IG story.
Other questions were about:
How they choose what they wear. Ash and Luke said they try bot to clash with the others and look ridiculous. They basically go by what Cal chooses, becauee Michael goes by him, and then the rest tries not to clash with them. Look also mentioned whatever he can paid up that he didn't do previously, and how he feels that day.
They asked about the Flatline chorus and Luke did listen to the song on his phone to figure it out... but I'm still not sure as they were also unsure lol.
They asked about the RAH orchestra and how it was a bit hard working with them because they only stayed until their time was up, and they are speaking different musical languages.
And lastly they asked about how they feel when they release a really emotional, personal song and if it's hard to do. They said of course, and how everyone has their own interpretation on songs, and sometimes it's best not to know the original thought and have your own on them.
There was also a fly trying to get into Luke's tea and Ashton kinda looked scared of it because he stood up.and took two steps backwards.
Both Charlotte Sands and AR/CO were amazing.
I was on Michael's side, 2nd row.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ashton was wearing those silly ass chekered sunglasses for like half the show lol. But he has the biggest biceps in the world oh god.
They were cuteeeee. Michael was so precious. So happy.
We got Wrapped Around Your Finger.
They guys enjoyed Budapest, and said it was a special show because it'a in the last 3 for a long time now.
Also, there was a point where Ash said something about Calum abd I was like... boyfriends.
Michael couldn't sing Best Friends because Luke was being silly and they just started histerically laughing.
Michael remembered and made a joke about last year's KFC thing and someone had a fake/plush KFC bucket hat on and they were making fun of that.
He ended up wearing it for the beginning of Outer Space.
Tumblr media
(Terrible photo, sorry. Didn't take much pics.)
Saw Ash at the very end on my side and he is beautiful and smiley. I love him. 🩷🫶

Last week, I saw the West End production of Hadestown. Despite my initial anxiety fuelled by mixed reviews (some critics expressed dissatisfaction with the singing quality, and my recent negative experience with ENO added to my concerns), I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it! Until then, I had only listened to the album and seen some production photos and short videos. I was pleasantly surprised by how the live experience altered my perception of events and characters.
Tumblr media
Two key revelations for me were Persephone and the Fates. The album and photos did not fully capture Persephone's charm and complexity. In the live performance, she appeared simultaneously charming, vulnerable, sarcastic, and immensely playful. I have never cared about the Fates, but after seeing them in flesh and blood, I changed my mind. I loved them! They cast three women of different sizes (and, of course, of different timbres), which worked perfectly—I don’t know, maybe that’s how they always cast them. And they are so vicious and mean—you don’t glean it from mere listening.
Tumblr media
I also worried about Hades. I am a sucker for low voices: bass and bass baritone. When I learned about the casting of Zachary James, I listened to some of his (mainly operatic) performances, and he sounded not low enough. But it turns out he can sing low. He delivered an almost perfect portrayal of Hades. With his low resonating voice, imposing stature, and the ability to infuse both comedy and angst towards the end, he was so good!
The band and the chorus were amazing! The play with light and darkness, especially the interplay of light within the darkness, was stunning!  And the audience was so perceptive and reactive that it was a pleasure to be part of it.

Okay, let's be honest - this comeback is amazing (aside from the fact that Siyeon is not part of the promotions; but I wish her all the best and that she gets better again asap!).
Justice might easily be my new favourite title track, I absolutely love this song. It's super catchy, the melody is great and the rap flows seamlessly with the general vibe without feeling like it's out of place. Since I'm a rock-/metal girl, I'm also very satisfied with the stronger rock sound. The first part of the prechorus that Gahmidong sing is immaculate, then the second part of the prechorus that sounds like marching towards a fight; it really works well to transition into the chorus. Especially the "fighting" prechorus also reminds me of league of legends songs, like warriors. In general, I really like how they worked with dynamics. For example in Maison, it's all pretty much one beat and volume most of the time but in Justice, it builds up and down, there are parts where the instrumental is really light and then others where it's really strong and intense. It feels like a lot of thought went into the creation and elaboration of that song and that makes me very happy.
StΦmp! is also really cool, it reminded me a bit of Shatter in the way that the chorus and the verses are really different. The prechorus flows so sweetly and sounds so nice and then the chorus hits with a nearly metal sound, it's like an invitation to join and sing with them. In case you've heard of them, Amaranthe has a similar "electronic metal" style and StΦmp really made me think of their music. I also had to think about how it could be a great soundtrack for a Barbie movie (in a very positive way), where it provides a really strong "we can do it together" music, like in the 3 Musketeers or something. My sister said she could also see it being played in a club or something.
2 Rings has a bit of a country rock vibe which I really enjoy as well. That was the song where I wasn't really sure if I'd like it after listening to the highlight medley, but damn, it wasn't a disappointment. A good friend said it made her think of a Halestorm album from 2015, and I (as a rock/metal person) think it's great that Dreamcatcher's vibes become rockier again and even remind of rock/metal bands. The part in the (pre)chorus where the melody goes down in steps also sounds a bit Måneskin-ish which I think is great.
Admittedly, I haven't listened to Fireflies that much yet because I'm not usually the type to overly enjoy the ballads, but it's not a bad song at all of course! I might give more of my thought process about this song once I've listened to it a few more times.
What really surprised me is that the Intro is so long - nearly 4 minutes! I think that's the longest intro/outro/skit they ever included in an album and I love it. It's a whole instrumental song that really makes a great prequel for the other songs.

Okay I'm not saying that I routinely imagine a jukebox musical of Othello using Florence + the Machine music but I'm not not saying that if that were to happen these would be the perfect songs:
THIS IDEA ORIGINALLY CAME FROM 'LUCY'S STUDY ACCOUNT <3' ON TIKTOK AND SHE HAS HER OWN FULL VERSION ON THERE THAT INCLUDES OTHER ARTISTS THIS WAS MY TAKE INSPIRED BY HER SUGGESTIONS OF 100 YEARS AND I'M NOT CALLING YOU A LIAR BECAUSE I HAVE PRETTY MUCH NOT STOPPED THINKING ABOUT IT SINCE I SAW HER VIDEO - I highly recommend checking out her list as well, I very much enjoyed it :)
100 Years
I believe in you and in our hearts we know the truth and I believe in love and the darker it gets the more I do. Try to fill us with your hate and we will shine a light, and the days will become endless and never, and never turn to night
And Lord don't let me break this, let me hold it lightly, give me arms to pray with instead of ones that hold too tightly
I let him sleep, and as he does my breath fills the room with love, hurts in ways I can't describe, my heart bends and breaks so many, many times
Hubris is a bitch
I'm Not Calling You A Liar (A duet between Othello and Desdemona and then a reprise when she dies would be amazing)
I'm not calling you a liar, just don't lie to me. I'm not calling you a thief, just don't steal from me. I'm not calling you a ghost, just stop haunting me. And I love you so much I'm gonna let you kill me
Which Witch (This screams Emilia weighing up her guilt for betraying Desdemona and her inability to say no to Iago because of everything he's done to her/her position in the relationship being so dangerous)
And it's my whole heart, deemed and delivered a crime, I'm on trial waiting 'til the beat comes out, I'm on trial waiting 'til the beat comes out who's a heretic now?
I'm not beaten by this yet you can't tell me to regret been in the dark since the day we met, fire help me to forget
Chained and shackled, oh, I'll unravel, oh, it's a pity, oh. Never to return, but I never learn, it's a pity, oh. Chained and shackled, oh, I'll unravel, oh, it's a pity oh. Say I won't return, but I never learn, it's a pity oh.
Queen of Peace (I'm imagining a Desdemona solo and maybe some chorus as well but I'd love to see her with this song, I'm picturing it to be after Othello hits her)
Suddenly I'm overcome, dissolving like the setting sun, like a boat into oblivion, 'cause your driving me away. Now you have me on the run, the damage is already done, come on is this what you want? 'cause your driving me away
Oh, the queen of peace, always does her best to please. Is it any use? Somebody's gotta lose. Like a long scream, out there always echoing. Oh, what is it worth? All that's left is hurt
And my love is no good against the fortress that it made of you, blood is running deep, sorrow that you keep
Big God (Okay hear me out: A three way split stage with Emilia and Iago, Desdemona and Othello, and Bianca and Cassio; all sing but mostly the women each singing different parts of this song to their respective partners)
Okay I feel like this one needs a little more explanation but for example
Women: You need a big god, big enough to hold your love. You need a big god, big enough to fill you up
Bianca: You keep me up at night, to my messages you do not reply
Desdemona: You know I still like you the most
All: the best of the best and the worst of the worst
Emilia: You can never know, the places that I go.
Desdemona: You know I still like you the most
Men: You'll always be my favourite ghost
And yes I can see the perfect choreography in my head
All This And Heaven Too (Desdemona singing this to Othello!?? I can also see it being a duet for them, but then with a harmony from Emilia as well singing alone but theoretically to Desdemona)
And the heart is hard to translate, it has a language of its own. It talks in tongues and quiet sighs, and prayers and proclamations, in the grand days of great men, in the smallest of gestures, in short, shallow gasps
And the words are all escaping, and coming back all damaged. And I would put them back in poetry, if I only knew how, I can't seem to understand it. And I would give all this and heaven too, I would give it all if only for a moment that I could just understand the meaning of the word you see, 'cause I've been scrawling it forever, but it never makes sense to me
Back In Town (Okay I don't know how to explain but I'm imagining Iago and Emilia alone on stage as he sings to her with very close choreography in a way that at a glance they could just be together but if you watch properly he's controlling her movements)
I'm back in town, why don't we go out? Let the rats spin around our feet, the full moon shines down on these dirty streets. Back in town, why don't we go out, to that ninth street diner? And carry on slowly, torturing each other
If you get spat on it's just your big city baptism, you're the star of the show. I'm back in town, why don't we go out and never go to sleep? Throw our dreams out, let them pile up on the streets
'Cause it's always the same. I came for the pleasure but I stayed, yes I stayed, for the pain
Falling (The Bianca vibes are undeniable, but also with the fallen from grace idea it has such potential to start as her singing and then gradually include more characters as it goes)
I've fallen out of favour and I've fallen from grace, fallen out of trees and I've fallen on my face. Fallen out of taxis, out of windows too, fell in your opinion when I fell in love with you
I could probably think of more if I put my mind to it but this is all for now, please add more if you think of any I'd love to see them!

So I've made it pretty clear how much I love VHSCC, so since we don't know if there will be a way to watch this specific performance again once the digital tickets are no longer available, I wanted to write down some of my favorite bits that I don't see people talking about that much. Warning, this gets long, so apologies.
Acting:
-Line deliveries I loved: The Match Girl's increasing desperation when trying to sell the matches, "Bob Cratchit" in I'm The Ghost, Scrooge and Belle being so awkward and sweet together, "That's offensive, okay" when Scrooge said the Cratchits seem pretty poor, "I'll toast my hope that he dies" and "Makes you wonder how long he'll last" in Priceless, the Match Girl's "Woohoo!" in Christmas Day
-Physical acting I loved: Bob walking away and Scrooge stops him so he slowly walks back and sits down so he can have Bah Humbug yelled at him, Scrooge's little "no"s about the happiness about Christmas and then being like "yeah that's it" when Christmas Present is like maybe you're a greedy dick, Scrooge learning the Christmas Electricity dance, Jim and Della as the couple in The Final Ghost (Jim is SO happy Scrooge is dead!), Scrooge crossing his fingers when waiting to hear what day it is
-Pretty sure Curt flips off Scrooge after the "after you" gesture in Bah Humbug which is especially hilarious since he's pretty much in the Young Scrooge outfit at that point. Honestly though Curt's background acting is always fun.
-Brian is a great Fred in general, but I especially love the "even though you're a total dick" line and how he tries to hug Scrooge when he's about to leave.
-Love Jacob forcing Scrooge to sit down, but I also love the whole hand circling the face and slashing across his neck at the "your old partner who's dead" line.
-Look I know I'm showing favoritism here but Curt as baby Scrooge just looks like he's so sad but trying to be stoic about it and just poor kid. Also, it was only for a second but Curt and Lauren as Young Scrooge and his sister plus Scrooge and the Ghost of Christmas Past talking about her afterwards makes me cry so much. Especially them laughing in excitement about spending Christmas together, just...
-The "grateful I don't have what Tim has got" line is always hilarious, but I love how Peter takes the mike from his mom and is standing very quietly and politely before the very enthusiastically sung line and the awkward double shrug afterward.
-The "NO!" and the blue light and the spirit singing words for the first time and of course people have mentioned this but Scrooge pleading to the stone-faced people he refused to help is just... MAN. This whole song was amazing, but that climax was suitably climactic.
-Bob pulling Scrooge in for a hug, Marley holding his hand, Della patting his cheek, I'm gonna cry--
Music:
-How well Christmas Day, Bah Humbug, and the new opening number tie into each other, especially the Bah Humbug tune being prominent in the opening and the "past present and future" lines
-How well Christmas Day was rearranged to add the new parts of the story, those additions genuinely feel like they were meant to be there all along.
-Unless I'm forgetting something, the only time Meredith joins Clark in the narration is during Christmas Day, which even more makes it feel like it's Marley singing and not just as part of a chorus.
-The "Christmas Day" bit and "Christmas Eve" bits are very similar rhythmically but different tonally which is fun.
Staging/lighting/costuming/et cetera:
-The TV/VHS tape signifying death/the afterlife! While we do see Jim behind the TV at one point, the only people we see on the VHS tape part of the stage (apart from the band) are those who are dead/spirits. All the spirits in Christmas Carol enter the stage that way whenever they appear, as does the Grandma in the Match Girl, and the Match Girl herself steps onto the tape to signify her death. It also helps facilitate Meredith switching from being in the band to active story participant and AUGH it's so good!
-The backwards "c" on the Match Girl's sign
-The lighting during the song before Grandma Land! The lighting throughout the whole show is amazing, but almost all the time there's a lot of bright neon colors, so it's utilized amazingly when the colors cut out whenever the matches go out and it really sells you on the feeling of cold and isolation and stark reality.
-From what I can tell for the rest of the show only one of the rewind/pause/fast forward buttons are lit up at a time, but when all three spirits first appear they're all lit up at once.
-The Ghost of Christmas Present's outfit is awesome, the light-up shoes most of all <3
-I love all the sparkly outfits at Fred's party (I mean obviously all the costuming throughout the show is A++), but especially Lauren's dress and Curt's jacket. I want that jacket. I would have exactly zero occasion to wear it but still.
-Fred with the sparkly Santa hat and the sunglasses~
More Gift of the Magi thoughts:
-I love how much Curt and Janaya show how much Jim and Della love each other, why each of them loves the other and why the other loves them, it's just... Jim and Della are so clearly in love with each other and it's absolutely precious.
-The "21 dollars and zero cents" part is AMAZING.
-Even though losing what they cherish most stung in the moment, they're only thinking about the other person afterwards-- Della's worrying about her hair is more about what Jim will think and not her own loss, and Jim is so excited to come home and it's the "best Christmas Eve ever" even though he just gave up his watch.
-Jim in general is the personification of love and sunshine and has one of the most contagious smiles ever
Just silly things:
-Oh hey it's the second deadliest man alive from Spies Are Forever. Seems life took him on a better path this time, good for him.
-Another addition to the Lauren Lopez playing Curt Mega's mom collection.
-Look, if we're cool with the whole crossing over VHSCC and Hatchetfield concept, I want Peter Cratchit to be Pizza Pete. I know he's probably too young for it to make sense but I like the idea of Curt Mega selling the place to Curt Mega

Tomorrow X Together drop epic music video for ‘Chasing That Feeling’
Tumblr media

Tomorrow X Together have returned with their new album ‘The Name Chapter: FREEFALL’ and dropped the epic music video for its lead single, ‘Chasing That Feeling’.
‘The Name Chapter: FREEFALL’ marks the five-piece boyband’s third studio album and follows the release of the ‘The Name Chapter: TEMPTATION’ in January.
The video for ‘Chasing That Feeling’ finds Tomorrow X Together in a film set designed to look like the streets of New York. The members each take different routes, but all follow their own ball of flaming light until they reunite. As they do so, the cityscape around them twists and contorts, adding new layers of intrigue to the video.
“My fate, come and kiss me / I just keep on chasing that feeling,” they sing on the chorus. “Though I’m marred, leave me / I just keep on chasing / Chasing that feeling.”

Alongside ‘Chasing That Feeling’, ‘The Name Chapter: FREEFALL’ also includes the group’s recent singles ‘Back For More’ and ‘Do It Like That’. The former featured Latin-pop star Anitta, while the latter saw the boyband team up with The Jonas Brothers.
Speaking to NME about their new album, Tomorrow X Together reflected on their experiences with fame. “It is reality, but I don’t think it has a negative connotation,” Beomgyu said, adding that, rather than seeing that side of their careers as a “free fall”, they have “become more greedy about bringing [our fans] better music”.
Around the release of ‘Do It Like That’, TXT teamed with Manchester City FC on Roblox. The group shared footage of them meeting the team’s Kevin De Bruyne and discussing their roots with him.
The player was also surprised to hear that the members had been together for seven years – including their trainee days – responding “Already?’ and later telling them to “keep doing what you’re doing. You’re amazing.”
