portland > seattle > vancouver
is a longer distance than
venice > ljublana > zagreb
#the context is that i'm planning a trip to the pacific northwest in late aug/early sept#and my friends and i were debating if we should add portland to the itinerary (which i was insistent on)#my argument was that look if i did three countries (venice > ljublana > zagreb) a few years ago with enough time to see everything#then it should be easy to tack on two us cities that are right next to each other and a third that's just across the canadian border#anyways i plugged these distances into google maps later#and had my world fucking rocked when i realized venice > zagreb was a SHORTER DISTANCE than portland > vancouver#dumb arbitrary country borders messing with my sense of geography and distance 💀
