I think the common one is that JS was really rewritten between S2 and S3 to the point where she's basically a different character (although...I don't think that theory floating around that they wanted viewers to separate Jane wrt the Boleyn downfall and Jane as Queen is true, lol, it does really seem like it was just a casting availability issue and unfortunately it did have that effect, doubtful they had that intention, though); but I actually find the writing of Princess Mary to have been fairly inconsistent as well. I do understand why this is glossed over, before BE arrived it's arguably the best portrayal of Mary I we've ever had, and Bolger killed, but if you look at the actual text and subtext of the show the writing for her character was glaringly inconsistent (particularly between S3 and S4), almost to the point where, like Jane, it's like she's either a completely different character or somewhere in the space of time between events, developed amnesia.
