title: REAL HEAVY METAL SHIT summary: It’s 1990, and Ed Levy is (not) writing his sophomore album. (a most remarkable thing timestamp)
EXCERPT He’d been no one, then — less than no one, actually, when you got down to the brass fuckin’ tacks of it: he was a half fake boy, it felt like most days. He himself was real, alive, but that was just the blood in his veins, the breath in his lungs. Everything else? His name, his back story, the reasons why he came to Seattle from Pittsburgh? All carefully fabricated half-truths and government-approved tall tales. Eddie Munson had become, for better or worse, Ed Levy, a sleight of hand person.
He had a hard time reconciling that. He had a hard time accepting that this was his life, now, and that he was allowed to live it. Really, man, who’d’ve thought it? Certainly not the pearl clutching, bible-thumping, Abigail Williamses of Hawkins, who cast him as Goody Proctor in their own little fucked up, supernatural Crucible, you know? Not the people who had rolled their eyes at him, before, and started to cross the street to avoid him, after. Not even his own friends, his old band, who’d dropped him for their own safety — which! He got it! He did! Just — just hurt, you know? Anyway you cut it: it hurt.

LOST MYTH OF TRUE LOVE → for tav/the emperor | listen i'd be the immediate forgiveness in eurydice / imagine being loved by me. based on my ao3 collection of the same title, here is a mix for my tav, catarina, and the passionate calamity going on in her relationship with the emperor.

i love thinking of taylor’s albums as a story, esp the latter half. 1989 (being rebellious in a way and finding ways to be happy) -> reputation (recognizing that there is a problem that is killing you and finding something to make it all worth it) -> lover (using space to grow and actually being happy with no reservations even though there are still dark, difficult things present in your life) -> folkmore (breaking down your present self into pieces to analyze yourself and learning things about yourself, how you operate, why things end) -> midnights (finally facing your past and what made you the way you are)

Since Taylor has called The Eras Tour a “journey through the musical eras of my career” I wonder if she will will open with something from Midnights and then dive into the previous albums or if she will start from debut and end with Midnights.

slickin' my hair with the kerosene
(Hunter design belongs to @/riveracheron :) )
[Image ID: A digital illustration of Hunter from The Dear Hunter's Acts, dramatically throwing his half-brother's dog tags into the flames of the church he's currently burning. It's a long story. Anyway, Hunter is a white man with long ginger hair + a short beard, wearing grey suspenders over a white shirt. A loose green bow tie is under the shirt collar, and Hunter wears glasses as well. There is a tiny scar on his cheek. None of the colors previously mentioned really matter since everything was rendered in various shades of orange and red. There's some of the original color, I guess. The lighting is vivid and varied as flames devour the church interior and sweep around Hunter's legs. Hunter's expression is furious, teeth bared and all. The artist's signature is in the bottom right corner. End ID.]

ranking billy joel album covers (what i think are his main albums, maybe it's not what everyone thinks are his main albums? i dunno) from my least favorite to my favorite
piano man: yeah this is the only one where i actively go grr when i look at it. like i dunno man the void and how his face looks, i just can't get behind it. no thank you
the nylon curtain: when i was younger i always liked this one cus i thought it looked like a book cover, or rather i liked that it looked like a book cover. but yeah, eh
an innocent man: i dunno this one is just boring to me lol, like yep he sure is sitting on those steps
river of dreams: no it's a cool drawing and all, i'm not really sure what it is about it that it's just like something's off about it for me
cold spring harbor: while i definitely think it gives off the vibes of the album, i dunno it's just not super visually interesting to me. and honestly he looks so different here and that always throws me off too lol
the bridge: nothing wrong with it, i just can't really connect to whatever's going on here and yeah i can see the vibes but not very clearly. and i don't think the banner at the top looks very nice
52nd street: huge jump up here honestly lol. yeah i really like this one, i like the composition, i like how he's holding a trumpet (right? i know nothing about instruments actually lol), i like his blue outfit and how dirty it looks lol. i think this cover does a good job at making him look a little pathetic but like, in a cool way
streetlife serenade: it's so pretty!! i love this, i don't have any issues with it it just can't compete with the ones above it, for me personally
storm front: man i just love it, the red is great and the gray and black are so great, yeah i can't really explain it
the stranger: so cool man, like the gradients of black and white and gray are so pretty and it's just a really neat composition. it's wonderful, i guess i just feel a little stronger about the two above it. originally though i had storm front above this but yeah this one deserves to be in the top three over that one
glass houses: oh man oh man, i love this one, like i just love how he takes up the whole composition vertically and there's still so much visual interest in the rest of it but it's not too much, at least for me. and obviously how the album is glass houses and it's a glass house and he's holding a rock and you may be right (the first song) starts with a sound like glass breaking!!!! like cmon
turnstiles: not really sure if i can explain it but this is just the best one to me, i think the colors are so great and it's cool with all these people and it's just a great composition. and i like how the text looks, which like usually for these either i don't like it or i'm just neutral on it, so that's a plus. yeah i just love this album cover, i dunno
and if you've read all this you should go contact your representatives about calling for a ceasefire! and find some pro-Palestine posts to share and interact with!

screw it: fake fall out boy ticket
Tumblr media
doing what livenation can’t be bothered to do anymore.
didn’t know what to make the codes so they’re references to songs played + their albums. “tp 2520” is “the phoenix” and total minute runtime of save rock and roll. hs 5i co354abb: “headfirst slide into cooperstown on a bad bet,” track 5, 3 minutes 54 seconds. cha8262, charlotte, zip code 28262. event code, idk. fob0721.
i also only put bring me the horizon on there because we arrived late and only heard/saw them.
i’m sure most of this information was on my ticket somewhere, but i didn’t think to do this until after it became unavailable. so hidden nuggets over random letters and numbers 😌
