#reblogged that post about pronouncing peoples' names correctly a little while ago#and just opened twitter and the first thing i see is a clip of some white republican congresswoman#insisting she's going to pronounce kamala harris's name however she wants#she's mispronouncing it and she knows it because the people she's talking to are correcting her#but her position is: i don't care i will say it however i want#she is trying to disrespect her and part of that is intentionally butchering her name#and the amount of people just like her that exist....#that walk around thinking they get to decide and names they can't pronounce deserve to be butchered#if they can't pronounce it it's the fault of the person for daring to have such a complicated name#idk what my point is here i just. these people exist. they say vile shit like this#the best way to combat them and the implied bigotry in what they're saying is to make an effort#because they refuse to#and they look dumber and dumber if everyone around them is willing to put in that extra care#delete later#neha rambles
