It would have been an embarrassment for Spain were the history books to have included the mishap suffered by young Charles of Bourbon on his arrival to the palace of Naples. None would acknowledge the failure of the Guard in apprehending the Caribbean miscreant who had been snoozing in the royal bedchambers and had then made off with several items of value. He led them a merry chase up and down halls, in and out of windows, along balconies, briefly on a rooftop, down through the kitchens until at last he slipped out from among laundry into the gardens. There Captain Jack Sparrow found himself in a bit of a pickle, for in daylight there were far too many patrols. He opted therefore to hide in the stables until dark. 

Jack hated horses and they seemed to hate him more so. It was a relief, however, to find that those he passed made little fuss so long as he didn’t get too close. He eyed them warily and crept up the ladder to the hay loft, trying not to let his spoils jangle too loudly. Checking once more that there was no one about, he burrowed down among the hay, piling it atop him to best stay hidden, and wedged himself beside a strange blue shed.

It was only when he was properly settled that he peered up and noticed there were words on it, glowing words. Words, as it turned out, that meant very little to him in 1734. Jack eyed the box with brief suspicion then shrugged and lay still, waiting for the opportune moment to escape.
