don't like to talk about it because i love my american friends/mutuals and would like to visit more of the south. i'm fond of american media, interested in their history, willingly engage with american material for personal and academic reasons, etc. but eng-speaking online circles being so dominated by usamerican users, their culture and politics, is intensely alienating to me. and that feeling has only gotten worse and worse over the years >:(

#me is mark #rin is on vacation these days so maybe that's why i'm so chatty on here as of late #/strokes chin thoughtfully #many things touted around twt / tumblr / tiktok has always been odd at best or upsetting at worst #the “pride is a riot” & subsequent convo about how companies aren't lgbt allies #because that is super super not how it works here + is not even a feasible strategy if the local queer movement wants to survive #and the way people talk about censorship as if it's a moral apparatus instead of a financially-driven state apparatus #and. well. how the entire c-media fandom on here is a racist behemoth #perpetuated by chinese americans D:#i've come to manage my own experience pretty well but any exposure to the larger masses often brings it all back #unfortunately the only way to know what has been said about a piece of media is to actually know what is being said about it
