You know... I just found a youtube video praising Akechi's dancing in P5D... "Persona 5 Dancing In Starlight: Akechi Breakdown (Ft. CrystAAHHL) - Designing For Purpose"
IDK I tihnk you need to add more P5 praises in your book XD :p
Also I believe is a banger.
P5 will get praise from me when it rips it from my cold dead corpse.
Jk. Half Jk. (Edit: Sorry I’m just jumping all around atm, cause I’m getting ready for bed. I’ll def check out the video and thanks for sending it to me!)
I don't mind Goro's dance (I think he's one of the better ones tbh).
For P5D dancers I like: MC, Anne, Haru, and Goro. (Mona gets a free pass like costume!Teddie) And I at least have fun with the silly videos I do (even if I don't like the songs in the game, sometimes the dances line up well with something else)
I think P5D's issues is 1) songs aren't....exactly danceable, 2) the music doesn't exactly match....the dance style (or character's personality, or both but it's usually one or the other). (bonus 3) they're obviously going for a hip hop/rock/punk rock/rap vibe with their outfits and style like how P3D is kinda going for Techno, BUT P5D.....doesn't really have those.....types of songs...... which is a shame cause a lot of those song genres would fit the P5 kids' dancing, see the first four vids on this tag, esp Ryu).
Like I always go into a dissociative state when Haru's dancing, cause I just can't comprehend the music playing. Tbh that's pretty much most of the cast. Anne needs more pop or hip hop queen songs, Haru needs more artsy soft songs, Ryuji needs more rap or punk rock songs, Makoto....needs.....something to crunk to so club or hip hop I guess (even tho I feel like that doesn't really match her as a character per se we're going for what fits her dances). Yusuke and Futaba I tend to block out so I dunno. Morgana is trying his best so he gets a pass (the only time he gets a pass from me). MC is fine. I always forget what Goro's song sounds like but iirc I don't like it (I think I categorize it with Ryuji's songs, I don't think they should be danced to), his dance is fine and it's funny, it's just Adachi 2.0 tbh (same as Goro, I never cared for Adachi's song either but I like his dance nevertheless).
#i also found P5D (maybe even P3D) they tend to just stop....dancing....and it bothers me#that's number 4 on my issues with P5D#silly asks#silly answers

@moldygreenblue (tumblr why are you always like this? ;w; lemme tag)
I believe I went off on her a little before (outside her dungeon, x) Anyway Futaba’s there for a number of reasons:
I hate her dungeon, her shadow, just her whole arc from a lore perspective. The rules are broken....no...shattered for her, not just P5′s rules but previous games’ rules. (I think I mentioned it in these posts x, x, x, btw these are all pre Royal.....Atlus probs saw a post about it and was like “we need to add doubts in Royal maybe now it’ll make sense!” srry boo but she says it’s no her mom and her cognition should reflect that right away you still messed up, also too little too late).
I’m pretty sure I remember talking about how I do no think she is a good representation of mental illness, she basically is cured with the “power of friendship” after a week (of being conscious), and they only use her lingering issues when they need it for plot reasons (on top of the fact iirc the writing between main story and CoOp is contradictory, iirc she’s like “MC you’re the one who saved me! I can only go out if I’m with YOU!” and then the next day of one of my playthroughs Yusuke literally picks her up and she’s like “oh I’m fine now, and it’s thanks to EVERYONE!” and it’s just....pandering for a romance in that CoOp). It pisses me off she’s the rep for mental illness.
She takes up too much screen time, and it feels like a lot of actual issues/obstacles we could just....overcome is instead made so we NEED to use her (I’m looking at you dungeon 3 of PQ2, you can suck it, Fuuka should’ve been the focus, literally makes no sense for Futaba to be the focus????)
Ties into point 1 but still deserves it’s own point. I hate how she’s like “THEY STOLE MY HEART! THEY CHANGED MY COGNITION!” but....we didn’t.......we literally didn’t. Did we help/save her with our intervention? Yes, but it’s not cause it was supernatural, we just showed up for her. Did WE solve her issue supernaturally.....no....not really, we didn’t get a chance (remember how....there was no treasure! oOo yeah we go into her Palace, but that’s not really changing her, it’s us going in irl and being like “yo ya gotta go outside! get that sunny D!” than us screwing with her dungeon). She solved it herself, Yaldy gave her the app, she ran into her Shadow, she accepted her Shadow, she solved it on her own. Not only is it a straight up lie, and conflating someone changing their mind/”heart” with the PT way of changing hearts (as well as the fact you know....we didn’t change her cognition, she did), but it also reduces her own involvement in her own healing process and overcoming the obstacle herself. We were just the spark, the rest of the flame emerged from Futaba. Like listen, the IRL stuff we did was important, but when it came down to the wire, it was her own memory and faith in herself and her mom that helped her confront herself and her false memories (because y’know...she couldn’t hear us). And it pisses me off that the writers would take something important to a character and her message, away for some bullshit reason.
I dunno some times she acted like an ass and it was just annoying, I already had Makoto/Yusuke/Goro/MC(even Mona/Ryu at times, to other’s not each other, obvie they do it to each other) kinda getting away(or have gotten away) with that without much reprimanding. (and tbh, anything that could possibly be redeemable, is either nonexistent, or overshadowed by the fact she’s mostly just there for her be connected to a literal mother of a plot device, no her hacking isn’t needed you have superpowers and another world WHY do you need to rely on her????literally states in the first dungeon you can’t use a phone camera in the metaverse even, but for some reason a laptop is fully working?????I know one is part of the phone and the other is a comp but it’s our only tech we know/can relate back to, so what does it mean Atlus? Is the comp allowed but the phone isn’t? Why? Just explain. Here’s one I just made up for you: Phone has to have the app open at all times in the metaverse! Or, actually no tech works well in the Metaverse, which means no laptop, one or the other choose please)
Oh she kinda screws us over, until we joined we didn’t have any connections to doing anything illegal. Yeah she throws that out the window. I mean we can always sell her out, but we are her enablers/accomplices.
Someone I know who was studying hacking at the time (for their work) was like “she’s kind of pulling that shit outta her ass.” And it hurt them to watch any of her scenes play out (I think the wire tap was the one thing she got a pass on tho). It doesn’t help it’s not really explained enough (so they can see if it’s plausible). To them it’s cringe, to me it shows convenience for the story (obvie I care more about how it hinders the story skadlfj;alfj and if it’s like they say, it annoys me even more).
Spinoff wise I hate how she tries to grope Anne and Makoto in P5D, and I hate how she takes up a shit load of screen time in PQ2 (I don’t care Hikari is a shut in, gdi Fuuka earned that spotlight in dungeon 3, it makes no sense why Futaba would do it, hell Fuuka should’ve been chiming in due to her knowing what it’s like to be bullied, same with Rise iirc she was also bullied, like god damn, PQ2 really went “We’re gonna give all the screen time to P5 kids even tho they won’t really do jack shit with most of it, and just have P3/4 kids chime in enough to remember they exist”)
Basically I don’t like what she brings to the table, esp since the game makes us rely on her. She doesn’t spark the exact same amount of rage that Makoto does (tho if you saw me my last playthrough during Futaba’s dungeon I’d say it’s pretty close), but it does feel insulting from a long time fan/lore fiend/just a freaking viewer trying to consume the medium that’s seeing there’s some toxic stuff in her writing (and I don’t mean “toxic” I mean “it’s really bad to freaking think that friends will fix your mental health, it won’t, and it’s unfair to you and your friends to even think of putting that onto them” bad levels of thinking).
I also find she’s a wasted opportunity, such as “oh what if we solved this mental illness with supernatural means? what could possibly go wrong? Esp with how drastic the change is for other people we’ve done it to! :D” *cough* *cough* If only they figured out that’d be kinda interesting *cough**cough* Oh mean what a violet coughing fit, I mean violent.... >.> *in a bad canadian accent* I really need soome air eh?..........8U ANYWAY, the biggest role she serves (besides spotlight stealing to justify having a hacker), is a connection to her mom and showcasing that even “good people” can have palaces.....sadly the latter seems to fall on deaf ears on even fans of this game.....and the writers/characters. So uhhhh good job failing at the latter (for awhile at least), and uhhh....we could just NOT have the former! I think the gov could be shady without them also getting in on supernatural stuff but that’s just me. 030

Rank the Persona games? + What do you think of ulala?
(edit forgot about ulala thought it was a diff ask. I love her)I’mma just rank what I prefer rather than numbers like with Zero Escape. Focusing on the story (gameplay wise I prefer P3/4/5 to P1/2 and I prefer P2 to P1, and I like all the spinoff games)
P2(both)/P4>P3P (FeMC)>P3MaleSide>>>P1>>>>>P5
P4D>PQ1>Arena>P3D/Ultimax>P5D (PQ2 isn’t out yet but I expect it to be on the higher end just cause the FeMC is there and yeah I’ll be like that 8U)
(reasoning below)
P2 has a great balance of characters and plot, P4 I just love the characters and how they handle them and flesh them out (not so surprisingly they both have Shadow Selves and I just loooooooove me those Shadow Selves, it’s what drew me into the series to begin with).
FeMC I rank above Male just cause how a few changes (such as being closer to SEES) helped with some of my issues with P3 (esp since the game is like “oh you are all closer now” and I was like “how? why?). MaleMC for the manga/anime/spinoffs is tied with the FeMC since they do develop that aspect I felt they lacked in the base game. I’ll boost Game!MaleMC up to tying with the FeMC when they fix his side tho. 106th time is the charm but damn it they’ll get it right. 8V jk jk
P1 has a fine story, the only thing holding it back is it’s characters imo. They aren’t bad but…..they are a bit shallow (by which I mean they aren’t as fleshed out as they could be), and they are a bit….relient on tropes of that time period. Instead of giving more info on the characters sayyyyyy Ayase, you just kinda know she’s just one of those Kogal girls rather then explain why and go into it. If you just know of the kogal girl trope during that time period, then you are good on her character. If you don’t then….rip.
P5, we all know how I feel. Also as someone who loves the shadow selves…..yeah….was very….very upset with how they handled them in this game.
P4D, fun gameplay (includes greate music and choreo), good story, and best characterization.
PQ1, fun gameplay, good story, characterization isn’t…..the best…. but damn if those stroll events weren’t fun. Group Date Cafe is god-like too.
Arena, good story, half good characterization (some characters are great, some are getting into flanderization territory…..mostly the characters with a joke end)….I always forget Liz has a route in this game too….dunno why, just a fun fact. XD
P3D, fun gameplay (same as P4D), characterization I think is fine (aka I didn’t see anything out of the ordinary when playing the Japanese ver, which is a good thing), sadly….it lacks a “real” story mode…..that being said it could’ve been sooooooooo much better. It’s a shame it got held back by P5D. I had the most fun between this one and P5D tbh. I do wish they had more tracks and had more variety like P4D did, but it still had variety so that’s good.
Ultimax, good gameplay, characterization went down the crapper sadly, bungled mess of a story…..that being said the contents of the story (past the BS) is really interesting and it’s a shame it got bungled the way it did.
P5D, gameplay is good but…..the choreo and music is….less than stellar sadly. I already had an issue with P5′s music, but the less than stellar remixes, the lack of variety in music genre (unlike P4D or P3D), and the lack in variety of even tracks to choose from (P3/4D could pick from a bunch of different games, and P5 only had one hence a lot of Wake Ups and Last Surprises). Not actually sure about the characterization….mostly cause P5′s characterization is a bungled mess (example Anne’s not an airhead in the main story but the make her an OOC one in her CoOp, and I feel like they keep her CoOp airheadedness in this). Kind of a quandary since….P5 isn’t consistent…and thus I dunno how to gauge P5D cause of this. I hated the choreo too, I don’t care if “oh they don’t know how to dance” like it’s a dream world they can do whatever don’t give me this BS. With pretty much everyone….their first dance was at best really good or at worst passable, with their 2nd dance being of lower quality to their 1st dance. It was painful to play. (I did think some of the remixes were good….when they were being original and didn’t sound like their source….which….isn’t good cause…as soon as it went back to resembling the base song I was like “oh welp there goes that good time”). This game deserved better too, they should’ve waited as to give it more songs to choose from. More dances. It sucks it lost content for P3D to exist at the same time too.

I downloaded the soundtrack. I am not a fan compared to P4D soundtrack though =/
Same. ;w;I do think P3D is solid, and at least matches the visual theme/aesthetic of P3D (aka the techno theme). But…..I mean….P4D was disco….and they didn’t rely only on disco…. They had jazz, swing, pop, dance, rock, hard rock. P4D had a very big selection of different genres, both with it’s base and with it’s remixes, it helped that it drew A LOT on the P4 Reincarnation OST.
P3D DIDN’T draw on the Reincarnation OST tbh, it took two songs. When Moon Reaches To the Stars, and Burn My Dread (former isn’t really too different to the original game’s OST except it has more lyrics, and the full ver of BMD was first featured on the Reincarnation OST). Tbh those are the two songs that are the least Reincarnate-a-fied out of either P3′s or P4′s OST, and the Reincarnation has SOOOOOO many great songs to offer for P3D, and it really changes up the genre of each song compared to how it is in the original game. Like, I really do like Junpei’s Deep Breath remix song in P3D, but I’d drop it in a heart beat for my fun boppin little love song ver on the Reincarnation Album:
youtube
But you know what would’ve been fun? And it’s a dance I think Junpei could’ve pulled it off, I mean it def fits P4D’s aesthetic (aka the disco aesthetic), but Junpei was the first one to emanate this. And it’s this funky fresh remix of Want to be Close:
youtube
Like c’mon! If anyone could dance to that it’s totally Junpei! ;w;
Or how about something jazzy? Guess what there’s something for that too!
youtube
Heck….man, FeMC’s Sun is a great track too, and you know it’s not the fact it’s an FeMC song they didn’t use it (they def could’ve remixed it and maybe added lyrics if they REALLY wanted to):
youtube
Like why aren’t these in here? Like the remixes are fine, I actually really like them tbh (both as songs in general, and the fact they really got the beat down while I was playing, it really pulled me in) but these should also be in here (esp since P3/5D have less base songs than P4D, and like 4/5 less songs that aren’t MVs/are the characters actually dancing). Plus they also have PQ, Arena/Ultimax, the stage plays, the movies, EVEN THE PACHINKO MACHINE HAD AN ORIGINAL SONG! P3 had all these places to pull music from and it didn’t. ;w;
I also don’t understand why…..Burn My Dread is the last song…..I think the Last Battle Mix would’ve been better, or really just a remix of the song, I mean….P4D had a remix of it’s iconic song so you’d think P3D of their’s…..
Heck, ending on the Reincarnation remix of Memories of You would been good too (or even just a side song), it would’ve worked great as a interpretative dance too boot (just added this part but I guess there’s a limit to how many videos you can add 8U)!:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jiiPjfueZEQ
OR! They could’ve done a dual mix of Memories of You, with Yumi and the PTS version (aka the male singer who did P3P’s opening, Shuhei), and make it seem like the two singers are singing at each other. Actually that would’ve been a great bonus song, esp if it involved Minato/Makoto and FeMC dancing at the Seal (with Yumi representing FeMC, and Shuhei for Minato). Ahhhhh so many possibilities flush down the drain cause they had to release P5D too instead of just expanding on P3D (with P5D being released later and being expanded on too). ;w; Also here’s a ref to Shuhei’s ver:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NGnocs3gzaY
Ok like P3D still had more variety in it’s OST than P5D, I’ll give it that. But there could’ve been more, there SHOULD’VE been more.
Also like what were they thinking of for Aigis’ dances? Like I like the dances, they’re fine…..BUT WHAT THE FUDGE WHERE THEY THINKING? YOU HAVE A GD ROBOT! UTILIZE THAT! LIKE NO, THEY SAID THEY WOULD DO THAT AND THEY DIDN’T. THEY JUST AIRPLANE ARM’S HER THE WHOLE TIME! No no no, where’s the Mr Robot Dance moves? Why isn’t she the one dancing to the dubstep/techno stuff? I get the dancer could only do so much but oh my god there are people that specialize in these dance moves! Like I c’mon I was expecting AT LEAST ONE SONG/DANCE TO BE LIKE THIS:
youtube
But no instead Junpei is the one that gets these types of songs? Like he does a good job but…..c’mon ;w;
P5D? The only remixed I really like was…..I think the Twins….Anne’s Rivers Remix did get me on beat like the P3D ones but I didn’t really like it. When it came to the P5D remixes I thought they were either “fine for the most part but overstayed their welcome and made the song go on longer than it should’ve” (how I felt about the Wake Up Remix), or they were “good when they weren’t resembling their base song” (and by that point they could’ve/should’ve been original songs, the original beat was wasted as a remix). I was really pulling for these remixes too tbh.
I also think they misused a lot of the music with the dances. Anne, Haru, and Ren are pretty good dancers….the songs they chose for them SUCK ASS tho. Anne is a sexy dancer, and would thrive with either some sexy song (that Persona does not have so, crap can’t use that), or a pure pop song (something like in American pop, or P3/4, which P5 has zilch of any of those in it’s OST). Haru is a great ballet dancer, and while i think she makes her songs work the most, she’d benefit so much more from Yukiko’s songs imo, it’s really bring out her dances more (but P5 doesn’t have those songs either, except maybe Encounter: Lovers, but that’s not long enough). Ren, while I think the Wake Up Remix overstays it’s welcome, it’s so energetic and really fits him, but everything else I feel smother’s his talent. With the Last Surprise MV (ignoring the obvious problems of sexulizing the girls for now) it’s a good, well shot and danced to MV…..BUT WHY LAST SURPRISE???? Like with Anne’s base dancing, this MV is suppose to be sexy, it’s danced to sexy, it’s shot sexy….BUT LAST SURPRISE IS NOT A SEXY SONG! WE NEED AN ORIGINAL SONG! OR A SEXY REMIX OF ANOTHER SONG! WHY WASTE LAST SURPRISE?
And then there’s P5D’s final dance (and again I had a similar issue with P3D)…..Why not be like P4D and remix an iconic song? Wake up and Last Surprise (or even Life Will Change, tho that one worked great as an MV so let’s focus on the former two instead) are your most iconic! Remix them if you need to! They should be your final closing number!
Ahhhhhhh such a waste for both games, they deserve better. ;w;
That being said, for the OPs and Eds. I think P3D had the better one compared to P5D (I’d tie it with P4D, but I found P3D’s 2nd half a little lacking, and one line made me face palm….which isn’t as bad as P5D’s which made me throw my head threw a wall out of embarrassment XP). But I think P5D had the best ending song out of the 3, but on the other hand it doesn’t sound like and ending song and is wasted as one (it would be a perfect alt night theme). It was also wasted as an MV song, it has fresh music to offer P5D and they won’t have anyone dance to it. ;w; Ngl I don’t remember P3D’s ending song, it wasn’t bad, but for now I gotta rank it lower than P4D’s since I can’t remember it. XD ;w;
SO uhhhhhh there’s my essay on P3/5D’s music and song choice I didn’t realize I was gonna write. Sorry Huh you opened up a can of worms. ;w;
