Damn I forgot how brutal the early seasons of cold case are lmao It was easier when it was one ep a day, like "oh man that's a sad one..." and then you go on ab your day. But the marathon line up is like hit after hit after HIT sggdgdgdgd like I really do love this show, but god it can be so hard to binge sgdggddg I've cried like 3x today bc of it 😩
#marquilla#today it was: the 20s lesbian one. the woods. the cold case version of the Prom Baby. the frat party (that makes me fucking cry every time).#and the baseball one (the racism one not the cuban one WHICH MAKES ME SO SAD EVERY TIME... its my favorite gdgdgdgdg)#i teared up a little at every ep but the woods bc that one is sad but more so... pitiful? like you feel bad but fuck george sgdgdggddggd#my mom was in my room when the woods one was on and she paid attention just long enough to hear the sad crooning music from George's#record player and she goes OH I FUCKING HATE THIS ONE and left sgdgdgdgdg like it was amazing that she knew from that one sound alone like#that ep is very memorable and you can recognize it visually but she got it from one background song AGGDGDGDGD#she really fucking hates that ep though i mean fair it is a very dark episode but dgdggdgdgvdd#she went 'NOT THE FUCKING WOODS ''Not the woods! not in the woods!'' FUCKING HATE THIS ONE' sgdgdggdgdgdgd#we've seen like every episode like a gazillion times sgdgdggd i still love it though#i am not immune to the copaganda i acknowledge that.

hehe the theory bait worked >:)
Very good contributions! Given the context, I certainly think that (if this isn't just a "I can't draw" joke like some have pointed out in the comments) something related to secrets could work. I'll add in "J has a brother" and maybe something about Rose's debt as possibilities, though that doesn't look like Rose. Although, the last time we see Teruko's room before the drawing appears in CH2 EP3... is CH1, EP 4. Before the conversation with Charles and Whit in the laundry room. So for all we know, it is about Teruko's brother, since she might have realized she doesn't remember him very well during said conversation. Unfortunately gigantic time frame there :v
"Xander" as she tries to recall Mai is possible, even if it's missing Mai's very memorable hair, so that's also nice.
As for prosopagnosia thing... I don't actually think there's any problems here. For the Mai cutscene, as you said, that's presumably for audience clarity (it'd be annoying if every flashback had blurred faces or something), and remembering "smiles" is definitely possible since prosopagnosia is quite varied (I, for one, can remember some smiles, but I rarely remember eye color, so Teruko's got me beat there). As for the CH1 EP1 text, keep in mind this is presumably being thought in CH1, before Teruko has her conversation with Veronika, which means it's before she even learns what prosopagnosia is.
If you allow me to extrapolate a bit from my own experience with having prosopagnosia, unless someone actively tells you that some people are physically incapable of remembering faces, you're probably not going to come to that conclusion on your own. Until I watched DRDT, I just assumed I was bad at remembering faces, not that I just straight up couldn't. It's hard to describe what it feels like to visualize/recall faces with prosopagnosia, but for the closest comparison I can think of...
Imagine the word "Danganropa." There's a missing letter there, but your brain can extrapolate "that's the word Danganronpa" unless you specifically focus on the missing "n." Visualizing people when you have prosopagnosia is something like that; I can remember what people look like, vaguely, and my brain fills in the blanks kind-of-not-really, but if I focus on the details of their face, I have no idea what's actually there. And because I don't know anything else, up until I heard Veronika's explanation, I didn't notice anything was particularly off. As a result, if you'd ask me, for example, to remember my mom's face in detail, I would have assumed I should have been able to, but just forgot in the moment; not that I was just incapable of recognizing faces. I just didn't know that was a thing.
For Teruko, it could potentially be similar. She feels she should remember her brother's face, because come on, everyone remembers their siblings' faces! But she doesn't know that she physically can't, because no one had ever told her that was possible. So, yeah, I'm pretty sure she has prosopagnosia.
(Sorry if that tangent is longer than it needs to be lol)
Hey chat, quick question.
This is Teruko's room as seen in chapter 2. Ignoring for a moment how funny the amount of water she has is (and the fact that the gym's water is stored in bottles, meaning the jugs from the trash actually came from either storage or the kitchen)...
Who is this? Why is this drawing on the floor? Why does it seem to say "I can't [unintelligible]"? Is it meant to be "understand," "recall," "remember", "forget"? I don't know, I genuinely can't tell, those are just words I could imagine make sense. She writes like a particularly difficult captcha T_T
Why are there two question marks next to the face? Is it her brother, calling back to the "Half-remembering is worse than forgetting. Her name, his face..." thing from CH1 EP1?
I mean I can't see what he looks like from the front because the dev is evil (/affectionate), but I don't actually know who the hell else it could be. Doesn't look like Mai, which would have been my second guess. Any ideas?
#drdt#rb#teruko tawaki#this is kinda what i was hoping would happen if i posted this#so yes. literal theory bait lol#thank you accirax very cool
