What a cool post about the uncanny valley. Im sure the notes are also cool
#i cant believe i have to tag this with#tw racism#out of all things#uh these are some interesting theories but i highly doubt all of them#1. if rabies were widespread enough to make a difference in our evolution we wouldnt be here today#idk why i tagged that as 1. i only had one argument#i think its way more likely the uncanny valley is not a response to anything#but rather just a side effect to us being EXTREMELY good at picking up faces#species recognition and all that#so that we knew to avoid other species and stick to our own#or smth#that being said the concept that it's a response to smth could be a hella cool horror movie#body snatching and all that#i do think its cool how in history humans turned real concepts into myths#the myths about werewolves/vampires/zombies infecting other through biting might as well be bc of rabies and rabid animals#and the uncanny valley turned into spirits/things that mimic humans#but again. idt it has to do with evolution#but what do i know. its stablished im dumb#i just love the discussion of our evolution vs our modern brain and how much of us is dictated by our old instincts#we're all animals after all
