Do you think they will do a reboot? And how would you feel abt it?

I think there's a chance that we will see some of the Fox X-Men return for Secret Wars, because if Marvel learned anything from No Way Home and Deadpool & Wolverine making a billion dollars it's that nostalgia sells. I also think it's more likely to be the OT cast (i.e. the Sirs) because Feige is partial to them having cut his teeth on the first X-Men movie, but it's also possible they bring a mix of the old and new trilogy team back (they're going to want to top that Avengers Endgame moment I think, to really rake in the dough).

I expect they will reboot the X-Men franchise post Secret Wars (again, have no idea if they even involve the X-Men in SW at all; maybe they just bring Cap and the original Avengers back and have RDJ play Doom AND Tony Stark lol) and that there's probably a next to nil chance any of the Fox-verse actors will return to their roles going forward. How do I feel about it? I mean it's what I expected to happen when Disney bought Fox so I've had time to grieve lol. I also...don't care as much as I used to, because I fell in love with this fandom due to a very specific set of circumstances i.e. these particular actors in these roles in these movies and I doubt the MCU version will measure up no matter who they cast. Will I watch the MCU X-Men? Sure, probably. Will I dedicate 10+ years of my life on tumblr obsessing about them and writing fic? Probably not. It'll be the year 2034 and I'll still be here reblogging McFassy as Cherik gifsets and lamenting the glory days of First Class and Days of Future Past LMAO.

(I will say that it will be super weird when edits and gifsets start showing up in the cherik tag with new actors playing them. Not sure how I'm going to handle it lol, I already block all the 'fancast' posts...)

What is X-Men Remix? X-Men Remix is a challenge where you rewrite someone else’s XMFC/DoFP/XMA/Dark Phoenix story or redraw someone else’s XMFC/DoFP/XMA/Dark Phoenix art the way you would have written/drawn it if it were your story/art.

Each assignment is randomly chosen from the pool of signups with writers matched with writers and artists with artists; the person you write/draw for will not be the same person that writes/draws for you!

What can I change when remixing a story? Just about anything you want! The only things you may not change are the pairings and the basic plot. Otherwise, you can do whatever you like: you can write from a different POV, in a different tense, with different characterization; you can write the story you think happened before or after the events of the story you’re remixing; you can put a twist/spin on the events of the story to give it an entirely different meaning; you can take a shippy story and make it gen/background the pairing and focus on other stuff; you can take the secondary pairing and focus on them instead of the main pairing of the original fic; again, pretty much anything you want!

third most comments: aka, "Special Topics in Mutant Studies," an enemies to friends to lovers fic in which Erik and Charles are rival professors at a small liberal arts college.

When was the last time you cried: Today, actually. Got a bit emotionally overwhelmed. Still am, kinda. Fun times.

Do you have kids: Nope. Don’t want ‘em. If my future partner feels differently, maybe we can have a discussion. But that’s between me and them.

Do you use sarcasm a lot: Dude, sarcasm is my second language. I was quite fluent in it when I was a teenager. A bit less now, but I’m still familiar.

What sports do you play/have played: Aside from the ones I was forced into in school, ZERO.

What's the first thing you notice about people: Physically? Eyes, maybe. Which is ironic considering how averse to eye contact I am. Non-physically? Kindness. And humor, but mostly kindness.

Scary movies or happy endings: Depends on how I’m feeling at the time. Right now, happy endings. But I do love scary movies.

What’s something new that you tried in a fic this year? How did it turn out and would you do it again?

A couple that I have never been particularly keen on, I have to admit. I'm usually pretty obsessed with the Erik/Shaw pairing, or, although I use it less often, the Erik/Logan pairing (Charles isn't really my cup of tea and I think it shows.) This year, however, I discovered (and thanks to you.) the Victor/Erik pairing. It was supposed to be marginal in a fic I was writing, but I've discovered that I like it a lot, so I think I'll be using it more often.

What fic was the most satisfying to finish writing?

The proposal was the first idea for the x men fandom. I have only the idea of it without knowing where this cold take me. I'm very glad to finish it.

What's something that surprised you while you were working on a fic? Did it change the story?

I was surprised by my need for a happy ending. In two fics I've written, the ending should have been tragic (in one, Erik and Charles shouldn't have ended up together, in the other, Erik should have actually died). I planned it all the way through and then I just couldn't write it. This proves that there is a romantic streak in me too, and I didn't think it was possible.

Some people who have good ficrecs for all sorts of cherik are gerec, avictoriangirl, and earnestlyendlessly. Avictoriangirl also has links to some really popular fics that were sadly deleted or hidden. You’ll have to wade through the recs for non au fics but in my experience some of the best cherik fics I’ve read have been hard au. Have fun with cherik :)))

I’ve been wondering how Erik went from having warrants out for his arrest in xma to evidently being given land by the government where he’s just allowed to do his own thing in dark phoenix. Like there’s a story there for sure.

IMO it's all Charles' doing! Post XMA he spins the story that Apocalypse mind-controlled his Horsemen to do his bidding, and it was only through the X-Men's intervention that they broke free and switched sides and were able to take him out! And a big part of Charles' negotiations with the President, for the team to become a defacto arm of the US government was definitely a full pardon for Erik and a place for him and other mutants to live outside of their control/jurisdication. I imagine the US government was only too happy to grant them a tiny island at the other end of the world if it meant Magneto would stop running around tossing stadiums and giving grand speeches on TV lol...

A little bit more of my Big Bang fic, or as I call it my 'Buddie Werewolf' AU.

Two men and two women finally emerge into view.

One of them, one of the women, is clearly armed, a rifle on her back and a gun on her hip. The man beside her is carrying an ax. The other two, a smaller, leaner man and another woman, her head shaved, don’t have any visible weapons, but they have packs on their backs. Who knows what could be in there.

Eddie rocks on the soles of his feet, preparing for a fight.

“We’re not here to fight.” The man with the ax says, holding both his hands up. “Our patrols spotted you a couple of hours ago.”

“Your patrol.” Eddie repeats, more than a little surprised at how steady and normal his voice sounds.

So...I have published ten fics total, and rather than posting the first lines of every single one of them, I’m going to mix this up and do my five most recent as well as my five current WIPs, because I have somehow become a person with five substantially written WIPs, I cry. (This is clearly an attempt at public accountability, help lol).

All fics are X-Men, of course, and unless otherwise marked, Charles/Erik:

Published!

1. “to put the world between us” (25K words, actor AU)

The drive should take two hours, but Erik manages it in ninety minutes, using his powers to floor the gas pedal as he scrambles the occasional police scanner. When he whips into the hotel parking lot in a spray of gravel, Emma’s mental greeting is half is half warm, half weary.

2. “Unlived Histories (The Double Vision Remix)” (18K words, remix, time travel)

Erik didn’t know it then, but everything started to change on Charles’s sixteenth birthday.

3. “Correspondence” (13K words, part of a canon-divergent series set in 1963)

When Charles wakes, he stretches out his mind and then his arm, groping at the opposite side of the bed. Erik isn’t there, though the sheets are still warm.

4. “What We Inherit” (20K words, David & Charles, father-son bonding)

David first starts to suspect that something’s up when his father gets a phone call very early on Tuesday morning.

5. “the way it travels in and keeps emitting light” (29K words, accident and recovery, enemies to friends to lovers)

Erik lets himself into Raven’s building on Friday evening, waving a hand as the locks click open. As he rides the converted freight elevator up to the top floor, he sinks his powers into all those sturdy old pulleys and gears—one thing on the long list of reasons he prefers Raven’s apartment to his own.

WIPs!

(obviously these are not set in stone)

1. The “Charles bailing Erik out of jail” fic I am currently writing for @ikeracity for Fandom Trumps Hate! (Ike you get a sneak peek lol) (ps I'm legit obsessed with writing this fic rn, thank you again for your prompt):

 “One phone call” is only a thing in the movies—but the cops don’t give you unlimited phone calls, either. This turns out to be a problem when all your friends were either arrested alongside you or are completely fucking worthless.

2. Multiverse/time travel fic that begins 8 months after the events of XMFC:

They’re moving quickly through the woods that surround the facility when Emma slows and makes a clicking sound with her tongue. Erik holds out his arms to halt the rest of the group.

3. Sequel to “What We Inherit,” still about David & Charles, but also with some (semi-hostile) cherik as well:

It’s a beautiful late-summer day, with a bright blue sky stretching above the sandy dunes that extend from the house out towards the Atlantic.

But David can’t see any of that right now, because he’s sitting in his bedroom, reading a book.

4. Media AU (trust me, this first line makes sense in context lol):

DAVID REMNICK: This is The New Yorker Radio Hour. I’m David Remnick.

5. Big Billions AU I started writing in early 2020 🥲 that I’ve finally picked up again this year:

Crowds, the common wisdom goes, are one of the truest tests of a telepath’s strength and skill. Never mind that there’s far more to telepathy than brute force and blunt shielding—with a packed train or a busy bar or a stadium full of revelers, it’s easier to see just how effectively a person can block out other minds.

hi there!! im new to the cherik fandom and your blog has been SO helpful im having the time of my life here every day reading your recommendations!! this is not a fic request but more of a prompt? i have this idea in my mind but i have nowhere to share so im sending it here in case someone feels interested. ive been thinking about this for MONTHS and i think it works so well with cherik bc of the whole multiverse thing so. erik and charles for some reason have to go to another universe and to do what they need to do they need to find their variants, nothing romantic has ever happened between them so they're in that phase where they were friends but now they're enemies and fighting and bickering all the time and they think its the same thing with their variants. but when they get there they find out their variants are together (as boyfriends or husbands, im thinking about them following their variants to kinda spy on them and everything is normal until they start kissing and/or having sex, like they're hiding in a tiny closet and need to be there quiet and almost breathing the same air while their variants are fucking) and it messes up with their heads because "what do you Mean my variant is dating him?" and thats the push they need to start thinking how it would be a relationship with each other. cherik already has so much tension as friends imagine them as enemies fighting after all of this? the sexual tension would be out of the charts!!! everytime theyd get too close to each other they'd remember how they had to watch other versions of themselves kiss and touch and moan and its getting unbearable. erik would be even more tense and on guard around charles and charles would take it personally bc he thinks erik now its disgusted or repulsed by him (mr magneto cant even look at him in the eye) until he snaps and kiss charles. or a kinda twisted version of this is cherik going to another universe where their variants are evil AND together (again, they only find out about this when they're already there), for some reason their powers dont work in this universe so they end up getting caught by their variants and when their variants found out about their "hatred" towards each other they decide to play with them and "give them a show". dark!charles using his powers to make charles and erik unable to move, making them watch dark!erik and himself having sex, dark!erik going on a rant about how they're wasting time fighting when they work better together, how they were made for each other, dark!charles would even connect all their minds together so erik and charles would be able to feel their pleasure. dark!erik fucking dark!charles unable to keep his mouth shut about how his charles is beautiful!!!@)#&@(#&@>×> idk if there’s any fic like this already but i cant stop thinking about it

Amazingly I actually have something to share because 911 and Buddie have inspired me to write fanfic again.

So here is a snippet from a recently started fic that is currently titled: YoutuberAU (I will eventually give it an actual title):

"Shannon had left them two months ago and Eddie still felt that he was barely hanging on to the fraying edges of his life.

He was suddenly a single father to a son he loved, but barely knew. He’d discovered quickly that he just didn’t know the things he needed to know, the things a father, a present father, would know. He didn’t know Christopher’s favourite foods to eat, or that one stuffed animal he had to sleep with every night to prevent a literal meltdown. He didn’t know what size shoes Chris wore, or if he could put his shirts on himself."
