Started making a genogram in therapy today and it's fascinating to realize just how much I straight up don't know about my family. What were my great grandparent's names? What year were any family members other than me, my parents, and my brother born? In what generation did we immigrate? What did my grandparents die from? Is my grandmother's brother still alive? Did my grandfather have any siblings? I do not know!
#text post#my post#my dad has agreed to help with some dates and basic info for his side of the family that i don't have#which is nice#but yeah trying to start it today was interesting. lots of guesswork and saying 'skip it idk'#and that's just basic family tree stuff. not touching the relationships etc yet#i also have a complicated family structure. lots of re-marriages and kids from previous marriages etc#thankfully my therapist is the one actually drawing it bc i don't want to do that lol
