I have never seen Gigi although I love Vincente Minnelli musicals, I am very interested in your thoughts on a gigi-esque spones au!!!

Oh man, yeah Vincente Minelli had so many fun films didn't he? But hahaha it was just a passing flash I had when seeing your musings about how Spock gets all horrified and protective when he sees Bones being forcibly tempered despite making comments in that vein himself—for it to actually work, I'd have to sit there and think about how to make the setting and scenario fit the characters better 😭😭

That being said! I'm thinking that the broad strokes of a Spones Gigi-esque AU might go something like this:

Spock, the young scion of a wealthy, famous family and the most eligible bachelor in Shi'Kahr, meets McCoy, fresh out of med school and doing his residency on Vulcan, and they become fast friends

Spock is dealing with various pressures from his family and wider Vulcan society, while McCoy is dealing with culture shock and feeling isolated and lonely on a new planet, and both of them find refuge in each other + find someone with which they can just be themselves

But then, some sort of scandal/something** occurs which would prevent Spock from continuing to spend time with McCoy, who he realizes he's falling in love with, so to get around that, he proposes that they start a public relationship in some form

McCoy is reluctant, but eventually agrees because he doesn't want to be without Spock either, even if it means that he's going to have to accompany Spock in public while following a strict set of uncomfortable social rules

But then when Spock's out there, presenting McCoy to Vulcan high society, he is disturbed by how subdued and obedient McCoy is forced to act while being paraded in front of these aristocrats who praise Spock for his choice of new toy, and he consequently grabs McCoy and storms out of there heedless of what anyone has to say

Then they go off to have their relationship on their own terms, becoming mates and living happily ever after. The end 💙

**I'm a little fuzzy on what this scandal could be. Maybe it could be pon farr-related—I'm thinking like, Spock wants to/accidentally did spend his first pon farr with Bones, which creates a huge issue with T'Pring's family due to the still-existing engagement. Unfortunately Spock's family really doesn't want him to just break the engagement off, because it's a key element of an important political alliance between their families, so he's given an ultimatum to either take Bones on as like, a concubine/escort, or else never see him again to avoid causing any more trouble. It takes Spock seeing Bones miserable to stand up to his family's expectations and break off the engagement/brave getting disowned to be with Bones in a way that actually makes them both happy.

Alternatively, I could make this an omegaverse AU of some sort...or perhaps try my hand at one of them "pre-reform" AUs with complicated social rules and power dynamics that could be used to form the main conflict...

...As you can see, there's a lot of specific details that still need to be hashed out 😅 ...smh now you're tempting me into working on something like this when I've still got other things on my plate 😔😔

(Side note: Obviously this would be a fic, not a musical, but can you imagine Gigi!Bones singing his version of "The Parisans", except it's like, "🎵 I don't understand the Vulcans / Thinking logic's so miraculous and grand / But they rave about it / And won't live without it 🎵" XD)

ur talking lesbian byler? i go back and forth but i feel like will would be a little tomboy (maybe she actually loves baseball?). mike would be a bit more traditionally feminine, but somehow still failing to adequately perform femininity

i love the idea of will actually enjoying baseball here? like, maybe this time lonnie was always trying to get her to like more feminine things, but it would backfire so much that he just gave up. he tries getting her into cheerleading and she's more interested in the other sport they're cheering for (and point-blank ignores the cheerleaders, because she doesn't want to get caught staring at them).

"but somehow still failing to adequately perform femininity" feels right. femininity as a costume or uniform, something she puts on but never feels quite right in. i struggle to picture mike without his headstrong, scrappy, fierce personality, so i do love the dichotomy of mike looking every bit a "traditional woman", but it starts to fall apart whenever you look at the way she carries herself or she speaks.

she tries to perform her role, but she can't deny her nature. she can't make herself smaller, quieter, more palatable—not without lucas's help, telling her what it is that guys like. and now that they're all getting older, she needs to start focusing on them—boys, and being liked by them—and not will, who keeps clinging to the past and doesn't seem to care at all.

instead of forgetting that will is in the room like in season three, maybe she just... does that thing where she elevates herself and puts down girls like will in the process of making herself more available to men. she starts dressing a little nicer, wears actual makeup now. instead of messing around and playing games, she wants to go on dates and gossip. just... the overcompensating deep dive into perceived Acceptable Womanhood^tm, because of outside pressure and her feelings for will morphing into something that simply doesn't fit within that framework. and mike just can't have that. not when he's so close to being Normal.

continuing with that, i do also like the idea of mike being the type of woman that can wholly accept that there are many ways to be a woman, but thinking that she, herself, cannot have the same freedom. she's scared of what it would mean, as a lesbian, to navigate a world incognizant of the desires of men, because she just struggles to wrap her mind around that. that she can exist as is and not have her worth be tied to her desirability.

she looks at will, and she loves her wholeheartedly, she does, but she's just—scared. scared of having to become her own person. scared of redefining her meaning of success. scared, because it's new. scared, the same way that an animal raised in a cage fears the outside world. scared, because now she'd be seen and loved for who she is, and not based on how well she could play her part.

hm. that bit about mike just Got to me. mike being unable to embrace her homosexuality, because it's at odds with her attempt at Womanhood; and her attempts at Womanhood, which is centered entirely on what others believe it should be, feel inadequate and inauthentic because she's so out of touch with her own true womanhood (which absolutely does have the space to accommodate homosexuality without canceling any other part of her identity out).

Number 3 is...ROYALTY/BODYGUARD AU! 👑

UGH this is one of my favorites that I really wanna do more art for sometime soon! Essentially in this AU, Brea is not a Jedi but instead the force-sensitive queen of a planet that I've decided to call Helios (subtle, I know). They're a neutral system, but due to being rich in valuable resources, probably some sort of hydrogen-like element that can be refined and used for weapons or money, Count Dooku and his army invade and intend to bully them into submission.

Enter Anakin and the 501st!

After arriving, however. they find that Dooku's forces were a little more well-equipped than they were prepared for 😅 the boys in blue are overwhelmed and the planet is taken, but they manage to rescue the queen! She obviously doesn't want to leave her citizens behind, but they insist that she accompany them to Coruscant so that she can plead her case to the Senate for more assistance in liberating her planet. In the meantime, Dooku could potentially still be after her or even send his minions out to make an attempt on her life...so she'll need to be guarded, right?

Palpatine probably personally asks Anakin to spare one or two of his own men to guard her, his BEST if he can part with them...and Anakin would never refuse Palpatine directly > _ > not sure what Palpie's endgame is, maybe to weaken the 501st a little bit to give the separatists an edge, maybe just for a laugh and to see what happens! Who knows, but Anakin asks Rex to be the one to look after her who, albeit reluctantly, agrees.

You can imagine he's none too pleased about it either 😅😅 he's extremely formal and professional at first, only speaking when necessary and following close behind her but not TOO close. It's not that he isn't honored and stuff but he feels that his place should be on the battlefield! He can't help but think about his men out there without him, putting their lives on the line. And after spending quite a bit more time together (basically 24/7 being that he stands outside her door while she sleeps) he realizes that she feels the SAME way about her people, who she'd do anything for. That's when the feelings start to develop :3c

I think it starts one night while she's having dinner, she's invited him to join her at the table before but he usually insists he's fine standing and having rations instead. This time she kinda ORDERS him to sit, and for the first time like...ever he takes off his helmet and she sees his face for the first time. I don't think she's seen a clone's face before, so she probably mentions that he's very handsome and he probably shoots back like "what, did you think I looked like a Hutt under there?" Which shows he has a funny side, and they finally start to connect on a deeper level. From there you know how slippery a slope it is to romantic feelings and longing gazes and probably even stolen kisses!! I haven't thought too much about all that yet but I want to, and I've rambled on long enough > u <

1. 💿 Waterloo To Anywhere - Dirty Pretty Things

I swear I’m not rigging this LMAOO but if you know me you know how much I legitimately cannot find words strong enough to express how much I love this album - like it’s wild but this is actually my favourite Libertines-related album (including the actual ones) that’s how much I love it. It just hits every single emotional and musical beat i want like it’s incredible how well aligned this album is to my exact tastes - it shot right to the top of my faves from the very FIRST time i heard these songs which is incredibly unusual because songs almost never mean anything to me on the first play. Also it makes me feel violently ill to listen to which i always take as a positive 👍👍👍

2. 💿 Cleopatra - The Lumineers

Honestly I know nothing about this band except that at one point they had a female cellist in their main lineup and that to me is so fucking cool. Anyway LOVE this album tho it is a real stunner if you’re into that kind of folk rock. The title track never fails to make me cry - I’d rec the music video too.
