Birthday greetings to the living music legend of the Hindi film industry, Sri #Pyarelal Ramprasad Sharma (03/09).
The iconic music director duo #LaxmikantPyarelal is synonymous with Hindi film music, particularly its popular hits. Born on September 3, 1940, Pyarelal Ramprasad Sharma is the son of the renowned trumpeter, Pandit Ramprasad Sharma, also known as Babaji. Under his father's guidance, Pyarelal started learning the violin at just 8 years old, dedicating 8 to 12 hours daily to practice. He further refined his violin skills under Goan musician Anthony Gonsalves. The song "My Name Is Anthony Gonsalves" from the film Amar Akbar Anthony is a tribute to Gonsalves, featuring music by the Laxmikant–Pyarelal duo.
At 12, Pyarelal began playing the violin in various studios, including Ranjit Studios, to support his family financially. His brother, Gorakh Sharma, also contributed by playing guitar for songs composed by Laxmikant-Pyarelal.
The duo first gained widespread recognition with their music for the 1964 film Dosti, produced by Rajshri Productions. Despite relatively unknown lead actors, the film's memorable songs like "Chahoonga Main Tujhe Shaam Savere" and "Rahi Manwa" made it a hit. Many initially thought Laxmikant–Pyarelal was a single person. They won their first Filmfare Award for Best Music Director for Dosti, beating industry giants like Shankar–Jaikishan and Madan Mohan. Their subsequent work in films like Lootera, which featured famous Lata Mangeshkar songs, also gained fame.
By 1966, Laxmikant–Pyarelal had firmly established themselves in Bollywood. They continued to earn acclaim for their music in films like Aaye Din Bahar Ke and Pyar Kiye Jaa. In 1967, they had a series of hits, including the Golden Jubilee musical hit Farz, and other big-star films like Anita and Shagird. They won their second Filmfare Award for the film Milan.
Laxmikant–Pyarelal, along with contemporaries like Rahul Dev Burman and Kalyanji-Anandji, represented a new era in Bollywood music, overshadowing earlier composers. They were frequently chosen by major film producers and consistently delivered exceptional music.
Their significant collaboration with lyricist Anand Bakshi led to some of Bollywood’s most iconic songs, appearing in over 250 films. Anand Bakshi wrote the lyrics for all the films that earned Laxmikant–Pyarelal Filmfare Awards, except for their first. #RajeshKhanna also had a long-standing professional relationship with the duo, choosing them as the music directors for 26 of his films.
Another fruitful partnership was with singer Asha Bhonsle, who voiced numerous hits composed by Laxmikant–Pyarelal, including chart-toppers like "Dhal Gaya Din" and "Hungama Ho Gaya." The latter song was re-recorded for the 2014 film Queen and became a massive hit again. Between 1980 and 1986, Asha Bhonsle was often the lead vocalist for their compositions. Laxmikant–Pyarelal also scored music for the Telugu film Majnu in 1987, which was well-received for its musical numbers.

Ashish Vidyarthi On Being Trolled For Getting Married At 57: "Was Shocked"
Ashish Vidyarthi with Rupali Barua. (courtesy: bollywoodcouch) New Delhi: Actor Ashish Vidyarthi, who got married at the age of 57, in a recent interview with IndiaToday.in, addressed those trolling him for his age and his decision of getting married at 57. The veteran actor married Assam-based fashion entrepreneur Rupali Barua in May. He told IndiaToday.in, "I read words like boodha, khusat and many more derogatory words. What is interesting is that it is a comment that each one of us, whoever is saying that, we are passing on others who are older than us, and at the same time, we are giving that fear to ourselves, because each one of us, hopefully, will become old. We are telling ourselves, 'hey, listen, don't do things just because you're old.' So, does that mean you're supposed to die unhappy? If somebody wants companionship, why should he not?" The actor earlier had shared extensive Instagram posts after his marriage, speaking about age and companionship a few days ago. During his interaction with IndiaToday.in, the veteran actor added, "What are these walls we are creating for everyone? A law-abiding human being, who's doing things legally, who's paying his taxes and is working hard. That person is making a personal choice, to get married, legally, with another person, who's also keen to have a family and live with love. It's a thing in which each one of us should actually be supporting each other rather than puncturing somebody else. That is something I did not expect and was shocked because throughout my life I have added value." A few days ago, he shared an Instagram entry, in which he talked about his marriage. "I met Rupali Barua. We started chatting, then met a year back. We felt something interesting about each other and thought that we could be walking together as husband and wife. Therefore, Rupali and I got married. She is 50 and I am 57, not 60, but age doesn't matter my friend. Each one of us can be happy. Just wanted to let you know, let's keep moving with respect, how people are living their lives," he said in a section of the video. Ashish Vidyarthi was previously married to Rajoshi Vidyarthi. In a career spanning decades, Ashish Vidyarthi has been a part of films across languages including Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, English, Odia, Marathi, and Bengali. Ashish Vidyarthi is known for mostly playing antagonist in movies. His filmography includes 1942: A Love Story, Baazi, Jeet, Mrityudaata, Arjun Pandit, Major Saab, Soldier, Haseena Maan Jaayegi, Jaanwar, Vaastav: The Reality, Joru Ka Ghulam, Refugee, Jodi No.1 and Kyo Kii... Reorganisation of States Part 2
Reorganisation of States
Part 2
State Reorganisation CommissionsS.K. Dhar Committee
The S.K. Dhar Commission also known as Linguistic Provinces Commission, was established by the Constituent Assembly in 1948.
Its mission was to provide recommendations regarding whether or not the states should be reorganized on a linguistic basis.
It recommended that the state reorganization be done based on administrative convenience rather than linguistic considerations.
The Dhar Commission recommendations caused much protests and led to the appointment of another Linguistic Provinces Committee.
The commission gave the following conditions as the basis for reorganization of States:
Geographical contiguity
Financial self-reliance
Administrative viability
Potential for development
JVP Committee
The committee was named after its members i.e., Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Vallabhai Patel, and Pattabhi Sitaramayya.
The JVP Committee also known as the “Three Ministers Committee.”
The committee was set up to up to study the recommendations of the Dhar Committee and make new recommendations to the government if required.
The JVP Committee rejected the language as a factor for reorganization of the states.
It recommended security, unity and economic prosperity of the nation as the factors for reorganization of States.
The committee also recommended that the creation of new provinces should be delayed in order to properly identify other issues and problems.
Formation of first Linguistic State
Potti Sriramulu demanding the creation of a separate state from the Telugu-speaking areas from Madras state undertook a 56-day hunger strike which resulted in his death.
This increased the pressure on the government to create a separate state for the Telugu-speakers of Madras state.
The government ultimately caved by creating Andhra Pradesh in 1953.
Fazl Ali Commission
Fazl Ali Commission was also known as the States Reorganization Commission.
It was set up in December 1953 to investigate the viability of the linguistic basis for state separation.
The commission included Justice Fazl Ali as the chairman and K.M. Pannikar, H.N. Kunzru as its members.
The commission gave its final recommendation on 30 September 1955.
It accepted language as the basis for state reorganization but rejected one language one state formulae.
The four major factors that should be considered in any scheme of state reorganization:
Preservation and strengthening of the unity and security of the country.
Linguistic and cultural homogeneity.
Financial, economic, and administrative considerations.
Planning and promotion of the welfare of the people in each state as well as of the nation as a whole.
