To think of Jesus actions as coming from a christian rather than a radical jew (who were many and with diverse ideologies at the time, mostly anti roman in some way) is wrong and anachronistic since christianity wasnt even invented or thought about, whatever antisemitism projected onto the cleansing of the temple by chrisian tehologians is another thing. It was also not the first time that something that was meant to be sacred/intended for the temple was forcibly removed/destroyed by another jew (see the serpent of bronze and other relics deemed as idolatry by some jewish kings). Lastly, the money obtained by selling sacrifices wasnt distributed to the poor, it was lended to them, so you could see Jesus action as against the current religious establishment, also the whole sacrifice thing was a scheme for the levites to get free meat (that was a joke lol)
TL;DR: if you want to get angry or indignant at the history of antisemtism you definetly dont need to reach this hard tbh.
This is your periodic reminder that the story of Jesus flipping over tables in the Temple is inherently antisemitic and holding it up as a great example of “fighting capitalism” or some such in the modern day is also antisemitic because those people in the Temple were doing what they were instructed to do in the Torah (in Deuteronomy) to help make the Temple more accessible to those who lived far away. The story frames the fulfillment of this commandment from Gd as Jews being greedy, opportunistic, schemers and I’m so tired of people talking about it like it’s a good thing.
