HELLO STRANGER IN MY INBOX. LET ME GIVE YOU THE SHORT RUNDOWN OF THE SILLIES. They're sort of an AU of HLVRAI characters? It's complex. So we have Laplace (she/her), a were-coyote mad scientist who becomes a were-creature because an experiment goes wrong. Cast out from society, she befriends the Mad Science Team, a group of ragtag misfit scientists who want to conquer the world and make it a better place than they found it. The Mad Science Team *also* includes Sleepless (they/them, ze/zer, it/its), a dream-themed mad scientist who skews a bit more "evil" on the moral scale than the rest of the Team, which really just means that they're sort of in it for the power and fame and to support their pals. Laplace and Sleepless fall in love, until Sleepless ends up being exiled from the team because their ambition starts to scare the others. Things go well for Laplace until an experiment goes horribly, horribly wrong and causes a Resonance Cascade, ripping holes in reality and allowing dangerous aliens to pour onto Earth. Laplace is late to the experiment and arrives to find that the entire Team, minus Sleepless, was killed by the radiation. She meets up with Sleepless to go and attempt to stop the alien invaders at their source, Xen, but along the way Sleepless is struck by falling rubble and decapitated. Laplace manages to kill the leader of the aliens and is approached by a God - The Old Man (he/it), who is the God of Death, and the father of one of her deceased friends. He tells her he is proud and to keep her head up and not let her grief consume her. She tells him to fuck right off and directly blames him for the death of the Team, reasoning that if he has power over death, he could have stopped it (he could not). He leaves her be and she is approached by a representative of the Combine, a colonialist alien empire, asking to strike a deal. 20 years on, Laplace is ruling Earth as a completely anonymous figurehead, merely a puppet for the Combine as they strip Earth of everything it has to offer. But somewhere along the way, she managed to get ahold of godly essence - the essence of the very same god she hates. She uses the godly essence to resurrect Sleepless, who promptly changes their name to Cotard and takes advantage of Laplace having remained anonymous to knock her out and get her placed on a train heading into City 17, one of Earth's few remaining cities, and the biggest. They couldn't bear seeing their beloved so miserable and are taking the fall for her, smugly gloating about how they've TOTALLY been the guy that signed Earth over to alien colonizers the WHOLEEEE TIME and pretending to be the villain people generally think they are. And after that, well... We've got ideas for a comic about them so I won't spoil *too* much. But that's the basic gist of the Divorceduo! Two very flawed selfish mad scientists making really bad decisions because they think it's what the other would want. But there's hope for them to get better :]
