Jean Valjean and Thénardier's fates are connected in some way that I cannot exactly put into words but that certainly exists.
#it has to do with Napoléon I am CERTAIN of this#the noble bonapartists vs the turncoat bonapartists maybe? with JVJ as Napoléon's alt progress route?#tbh I feel like there is so much I don't quite understand about Thénardier#thanks largely to the musical (but even in other adaptations! SC my beloved!!!) he doesn't really get taken seriously as a character#and is often portrayed as sort of ... bumbling and slapstick#and like someone whose silly schemes always fail so they shouldn't be taken seriously in the first place#but he's actually a character with at least as much depth as Javert#and I totally unironically would love to see him treated as such more often#les mis#thénardier#jvj#valjean#canon jean#shitposting through les mis
