On the one hand the jokes abt yorishima being too much of a grouchy old man shut in to have been with reiko (and be natsume grandpa by extension) are very funny and also true. but also consider, the even funnier possibility: yorishima is a grouchy old man shut in precisely because he got ghosted by reiko like 30+ years ago

this man tried to have a relationship one time and fucked it up so bad he decided to never leave his house again

(tho honestly at this point I mostly just like the yorishima grandpa theory entirely because of how much he would hate it. can you imagine, being yorishima, a grouchy old man living alone in the woods minding your own business when suddenly some mildly annoying aquaintence of yours shows up with some random kid and he turns out to be your grandkid that you didn't even know you had? from that girl you dated that one time who ghosted you entirely out of nowhere? and now you have to be an actual parental/mentor figure to this kid? he'd be so fucking mad, it'd be hilarious)

#tbf I'm still only like. 55% certain on yorishima grandpa. and 45% certain it'll be Just Some Guy #but I cannot fathom why the hell midorikawa introduced him if he's NOT. like why is this old man here he has nothing to do with anything #but is old enough to be grandpa. acted suspicously abt natsume and reiko's names.#AND is introduced in an arc that's a direct continuation of the arc where natsume's grandpa is first brought up #but then there's also other weird things that don't match up #like him barely reacting to natsume in the second yorishima arc. if him being his grandpa was even a possibility he'd be more put off??#either midorikawa is fucking with us on purpose or he's the grandpa #and tbf after kuromisa it is pretty clear she is willing to fuck with us. so it's anybody's game here #natsuyuu spoilers #probably?
