@tamarindofmayfair ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀🇬🇧 Friday Lovers at Tamarind Mayfair 🌸 The first Indian restaurant in the UK to be awarded a Michelin Star, has now opened at Mayfair after an eight-month re-build. Fantastic Indian food, worth to try! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #tamarindrestaurant @michelinguide #michelinstar #tamarindofmayfair #yummy #bestrestaurants #foodblogger #travelforfood #yumyum #london (at Tamarind of Mayfair) https://www.instagram.com/p/BtoWGqkljdV/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=w1flfyp90rq4

Luang Prabang is what I call a 'break' town. When you're travelling on a long trip, spending time in places without much tourism infrastructure, where you struggle to be understood, eat mystery meals and sleep in 'rustic' accommodation, it's tiring. It's amazing, because you get a better insight into the country and meet far more people as your presence is somewhat of a novelty. However it is tiring. Arriving in somewhere like Luang Prabang feels like a 'break', a holiday from your travels. It has has cute cafes, it has fancy restaurants, western food options, shops, museums and many English speaking people. Aside from the relative luxuries of Luang Prabang it's also a great place to explore Laos Textiles. The TAEC, Traditional Arts and Ethnology Centre, is amazing, it's a really well curated museum displaying textiles and other objects from the different Ethnic groups in Laos.  One of the most famous shops in Luang Prabang is Ock Pop Tok, a social enterprise working with textiles, which is absolutely worth visiting. The shop is almost a museum, displaying beautiful hand woven fabrics and handicrafts all made by Laos based artisans. They also run workshops os that you can learn how to create some of the Laos textiles that they sell.  It was lovely to see traditional Textiles being celebrated in Luang Prabang and it's a very relaxing town, sitting at the famous Tamarind Restaurant, with my taster selection of traditional Laos food and my first glass of wine in a while, I felt inexplicably happy.

Hausbrot in Luang Prabang, Laos. Today I leaned how to cook in Lao style at Tamarind restaurant in an open kitchen: sticky rice, eggplant dip, steamed fish in banana leaves, stuffed lemon grass, laap and purple sticky rice with coconut sause as desert. So very much delicious! #hausbrotontour #luangprabang #laos #southeastasia #cockingclass #stickyrice #eggplant #dip #steamedfish #bananaleaves #lemongrass #purplestickyrice #coconutsauce #tamarindrestaurant
